Booked online, received confirmation email and text , got there and closed ! Rang them and emailed with no response ! Disgraceful

Went on the 19th of April for a birthday celebration. Food, service and atmosphere outstanding as ever and the quality of the meal is always excellent, however, the four out of five stars overall is simply that the portion size is significantly below what I would expect for the price and from previous experience, perhaps it's a blip let's hope so.

I don't know why this place is so busy. The food is in fairly large portions but not great. The garlic bread was dry. Their so-called homemade chips were clearly frozen and were undercooked. I didn't finish either course.

Food was below average for the price paid. The restaurant was so quiet for a Friday night, so no atmosphere at all. Maybe up the quality of food to match the prices, you may get some customers. This place used to be our go to, we had a bad experience previously but thought we'd give it another go, would never go back snd certainly would never recommend.

Very tasty and well cooked meat. The special is highly recommended.

We stopped off at The Rufford Arms on the A59 just south of Preston on way from Cairnryan ferry to Stafford motorcycle show on Friday for lunch. The rest of the gang were so impressed with the quality of both the food and the staff that we stopped for dinner on the way back . Any of the Fish dishes is highly recommended, as was the Sunday roast. There was so much motorcycle talk over dinner that we talked ourselves into staying for breakfast, which again surpassed our expectations , after all, a cosy bed and a shower beats the campervan any day ! ! ! Absolutely lovely café and staff. Everything made to order and fresh. We had the full English breakfast, my husband the veggie version and it was delicious! Lovely setting too. Would highly recommend

Eaten here before and really enjoyed it. This visit was very disappointing. The food items we wanted to order were "out of stock". This apparently was because the menu was in the process of being changed. Alternative food ordered was nice however it took an hour to reach us and came out in dribs and drabs. We eventually found out that there was only 1 chef working which meant that our party, 6 of us, were all getting our meals at different times. The gentleman who was serving us couldn't have been more apologetic so the fiasco wasn't his fault. However if we had known that certain meals were off the menu we wouldn't have gone there but we had already booked it for a birthday gathering.

Excellent food, great quality and attentive staff. Will definitely be back. The choice of food and the ambiance make it an ideal place for a lunch or dinner date

Apparently they bake some great sausage rolls on site too
