Lovely place, food was very good , it was not our first time going here & we've never been disappointed on any visit.

Celebrated johns 40th birthday yesterday with this meal it was lovely great service & plenty of people celebrating their birthdays too was great to see

We had an incredible dining experience at The Fat Italian in Burscough! From start to finish, every dish was a delight. The starters were impressive - the garlic bread, goat cheese and pine nut bruschetta, and pane olio were all delicious and perfectly prepared. For mains, the prawn pasta was good, and the salmon and asparagus was a standout - the white sauce was absolutely amazing! But the real showstopper was the dessert! We were blown away by the Daim butterscotch sundae, it was truly unbelievable!

Delicious food, friendly service, fairly busy so a little wait to be served but nothing major. Worth the wait

I’ve visited a number of times, the food has always been excellent and the service has been just as good. I tried the sticky chicken for starter and it was amazing, followed by the slow roasted lamb which was great.

Another lovely meal from here. Waitress was so friendly and very helpful. Never had a bad meal from them and the desert was gorgeous. Spotless and lovely atmosphere. Special mention to Liam who always looks after us and welcomes us with a smile

Disappointed on this visit 😕. Service was very poor. We had starters which found to be tasteless, main meal wasn't much better. Didn't get asked if we wanted a desert. During the meal didn't get asked if we wanted more drinks. Not the usual standard 😒

The food was excellent no complaints whatsoever nice setting also will definitely go again the only thing I noticed was there was no draughty beer so you had to buy bottles which worked out very expensive.

Lovely food, lovely venue , busy but to be expected with the set menu . Gabriel was our waiter … couldn’t fault him, kept us up to date, friendly , apologised for the slight delay in food coming out … a credit to the fat Italian … we will be going again x

Special priced 2 course menu on Monday to Wednesday so the restaurant was extremely busy. The food was excellent & lots of choices. The staff were very good especially Gabriel who was attentive but not intrusive, very professional. Would certainly recommend and will go again.

Great food, staff lovely and very helpful.

We went on Saturday for lunch, this was on the recommendation of our daughter. We ordered our meal and the starters were excellent, I had the arancini and my partner had the scallops. For mains it was lasange and filetto Rossini, this is where it was a bit dissapointing,the lasagne tasted lovely but it was dry and had definitely been in the oven too long as the pasta was burnt at the bottom. The fillet steak was fine but the dish arrived lukewarm, when we mentioned this were told the dish is served like this due to cold pate being poured over the top, we have had this in other restaurants and this has not been the case. We both had an ice cream sundae, a strawberry one and a dime bar one. Again they were OK, but this is one of my pet hates, no attention to detail. No strawberry was on top of the cream or crushed nuts/ dime bar on top. On my daughters visit she had taken photos and her lasange had a lot of sauce and looked lovely and moist. They also had the same desserts, with the toppings. I would go back but not choose the same mains

A large, busy & lively restaurant on a Sat night. The cuisine and Service were also excellent. There were plenty of staff in various roles who worked so well as a Team. Very attentive to customers but not intrusive. Perfect balance I would say. We all thoroughly enjoyed it 👏👏👏

Visited this evening after having visited the wonderful Ormskirk one in the past several times, arrived at 4 as booked, was seated around 4.40, it took so Long we were asked to choose our food whilst sat in the bar, the starters arrived pretty quickly once seated, but then a long wait til mains, 3 out of 6 meals Were not great, and the general service wasn't great, no asking if we want extra drinks despite Our glasses being empty, just generally felt unwelcome, won't be visiting again, back to the Ormskirk one.

I took my partner for his birthday. The food was fantastic. My main was the best pasta I have eaten in my 39 years. My partners steak was perfect. Drinks where lovely and the staff very professional and welcoming.

The first time we visited this restaurant and it won't be the last service was spot on They have a 2 course menu for £14.95 which i thought was a good choice of food the food was piping hot too love love this place would recommend 😋

Can be very noisy when busy, food is generally good but last visit service was poor due to lack of staff and food suffered came out in stages.

First time visiting with friends. Had heard food is good but service and atmosphere can be mixed. I can see why. Positives; menu differed from typical Italian fare which was good and there was a good vegan and vegetarian choice, plus an issue mix up with our table order was quickly resolved by (I think) manager FOH. Not so great was the atmosphere and also the attitude of a couple of members of staff who were slightly off hand and cold. I think we would return to see if the latter was a one off, as we did like the menu.

Visited this restaurant yesterday, New Years Eve. A last minute booking, just managed to get a table, after our original restaurant booking let us down. It must have been fate. We had the best time in this lovely restaurant and the food was amazing, as was the staff. We will return again soon .

Had a great family day with great food

This place never disappoints. Amazing attentive staff. Food varied, super fresh and always a good choice. Vegan and vegetarian choices are imaginative and super tasty. Portion sizes more than generous. Excellent value for money and the set menu never disappoints. Be warned ...it is always busy so best to book to avoid disappointment. We travel from Preston regularly to come here and it is so worth it. Wishing all staff the very best for Christmas and 2025.

Always a great meal, great service and good value and wide choice. That’s says it all.

We have eaten many times at The Fat Italian, we are always welcomed by the friendly staff, the atmosphere is lively so not the place for a quiet Tête-à-tête, but don’t worry everything else is great. The food is always good and fresh ( it isn’t McDonald’s so doesn’t arrive at the same speed) The menu choice is great and varied, also the special time specific deals are always on so it’s great value. By the way Tipping is not in China, so reward the staff for their great service if you are a regular diner.

Late Sunday lunch very busy !! We were booked 4:30 but arrived 30 mins early. Had a drink table ready 10 mins after our time so no problem. We had a selection of starters Then 6 main courses followed by ice cream & affogato’s Food and its presentation superb as was the service by Dean the manager highly recommended

Arrived for a Christmas meal with friends to find our booking had been cancelled. This was despite me ringing to confirm a week earlier but the manager sorted it out quickly and found us a nice table. It was incredibly busy which is nice to see and we didn't have to wait long to order. Two of us went for the Vegan menu and the rest the main menu. The vegan menu looked really comprehensive and so we were looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately it was quite underwhelming. The Avacado Tostada my husband had was tiny in comparison to the other starters. When the main meal came there was no naan bread or poppadoms with the chickpea curry which I would of thought was an obvious thing to have with the dish. My meal, vegan fajitas was really disappointing. Tortilla wraps (straight out of the packet I assume as not heated or toasted) were folded in half on the plate. Alongside this was a bunch of shredded lettuce, a bunch of grated cheese, again I assume from a bag judging by its texture. The filling was mixed veg with carrots and green beans?? I've never had a fajitas with leftover veg from the Christmas meals they were preparing! Overall a disappointing meal and an expensive one at that.

Lovely food at a good price. We took advantage of the 2 courses for £12.95 and as an added bonus live pianist playing.

Met with a friend for Monday lunch ...the place was buzzing. Service was prompt and attentive. We chose from the 2 course special,only £12/14? It was lovely and portions were good. Well recommended

Favourite place to eat never had a bad experience and the staff are all amazing. My most recent visit I had Mediterranean sea bass and it didn't disappoint.

This restaurant was brilliant, very stylish, clean and the food was lovely.

Had my Retirement 'do' here. Over 30 people. Everything from booking to end of night was seamless. Every person who came was so impressed with the staff, the quality of food, the speed we we all served, the ambience of the restaurant and the superb value for money. A lot have been again since on the back of that night. Definitely recommend 100%.

Had a lovely meal and catch up with friends. I had a gorgeous appetizer crispy shredded lamb curry, great portion size, then steak for main. All cooked perfectly.

Superb food. Lovely restaurant. Friendly service, but overcharged as one of the meals was from the 2 courses for £20 menu, yet the items were charged at the alacarte rate totalling £30.90. We only noticed when we returned home If you offer a special lunch menu you should ensure you charge the right amount. This added around 10% to our bill notwithstanding the tip we left . That said we will return, but will definitely check the bill.

Excellent service , staff were very accommodating - phil and Ramona were fantastic ! Very attentive and helpful throughout the evening. Brilliant birthday meal ! Will most certainly return. Very reasonable on pricing too! Thank you !! Highly recommend !

Always first class and good value highly recommend

First visit to The Fat Italian today but certainly won’t be the last, the food was excellent, fantastic value for money and the service was superb, in particular Gabriel who was very attentive and comical with it. The restaurant is obviously very popular as it was busy but there was no delay in getting our food. We will certainly look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend

Food was exemplary and the staff were brilliant!

We have been to the Fat Italian a lot of times in the past and would highly recommend this restaurant. This time was for a family meal for a 19th Birthday. I have to say the staff are second to none, really pleasant and can't do enough for you. The food is a pleasure in every morsel. I had the Ham hock fritter for starters, which were an absolutel delight. Just wish there were three fritters, so tasty. For main I had the meat feast pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. My partner and some of the rest of the party had the sticky chicken for starters and for main, cajun chicken fiesta. Both courses looked flaversome creations. All I can say to the restaurant is thank you for a great evening, great staff and a brilliant chef.

Visited for lunch on a Thursday and it was very busy. Had the two courses for £12.95 menu and have to say it was one of the best I have had anywhere. Just like a full meal, not the budget portions you often get with these things. Food was excellent, there were 3 of us and we all said the same. This was my first visit, but I will be back.

What a hidden gem! Just brilliant! Will definitely be going back!

I fancied an Italian so rang here at 4:20pm and they had a table free for 5pm on a Friday so thank you Liam. There are no disabled parking spaces here sadly but I did park at the side of the building so it was only 20 ft to the entrance. If your in a wheelchair the road is level and I did see people dropping people off then parking their cars at the rear main car park which is huge . I did notice the disabled toilets though. The place looks very high quality. Even the staff all dressed smart and looked the part. They have a deal on from 4-6pm were the main course is £9.99 and the choice is alot from pasta dishes to pizzas to traditional meat dishes. It has table service. I ordered the black pudding with bacon and tomatoes in a creamy sauce £7.90 and from the meal menu I ordered the Tuscan sausage pasta £9.99. I ordered a small bottle of peroni £4.25 which is a little expensive but not as bad as £4.95 at another restaurant. The starter came out 10 mins later piping hot and it was plated well and looked delicious. The black pudding was cooked perfectly and the bacon and creamy sauce was great to. The main came out 15 mins later and again it looked amazing on the plate. the sausage was great and it went well with the creamy sauce, pecorino cheese and pasta. The staff were friendly and asked how each course was which was nice. I was coerced into getting a dessert and I tried one of their specials the strawberry and rhubarb crumble with custard £7.50. be warned its a big portion of crumble and tasted really fresh with a hint of sharpness from the rhubarb. The bill came to £29.20 which for a three course meal is great value and tasted amazing. I will definitely come again to try more food here. The places looks really high quality,the foods amazing and the staff were really good. I even took pics of the dining area and the chairs. The only really I gave it 4 out of 5 is for the lack of disabled parking but you can park their easily.

Went on a Monday night very busy and very loud. You have pizza and pasta, but the rest is not very italian . Our dish said red wine jus when it came it was gravy. Waiter took my partners beer bottle away before he had finished it . All in all not worth the £70 we spent

Great food and service but can get extremely noisey

Lovely place but far too noisy. We regularly go to Ormskirk but as they were closed we tried the Burscough restaurant. Food is amazing but just too noisy.

Thursday steak night. Great service, excellent choice of food. I recommend booking ahead as it does get busy. Worth a visit any day or night.

Turned up for lunch we where Seated. Another couple arrived approximately 6 minute later and seated without pre booking like us. The waiter after a short time returned to serve that table and completely ignore us very bad services we left and went to the Highfield in Ormskirk top service

We booked a table for 4 adults and 2 children. It was my son's birthday. Didn't know what to expect. But the whole experience was 1st class . Greeting was lovely Menu... Extensive with plenty of veggie and GF options. Service was faultless. The food from starter to dessert was absolutely gorgeous. I can highly recommend this fabulous restaurant. You need to phone to book, which is a little strange in this modern, high tech era. But it's well worth it. Thanks to all the staff for making us feel welcome and looked after.

Great food and unusual dishes. Cocktails amazing and done just right. Busy resturant need to book. Staff really friendly and efficient . Desert menu not that great. More unusual deserts would be great. Will visit regularly loved it.

First time visiting so we tried the 2 courses for £17 menu. Very impressed! Great food, great service!

We got taken to this restaurant by friends, first time in the Burscough one. Really surprised me how clean and nice it was the waiter was very accommodating, we chose our food we all had different but every one enjoyed it it was marvellous after the meal we chatted for a while no one pushed us to leave which was good. Really good experience. We will be back we family. All I will say is try and book a table,
