The Fat Italian in West Lancashire

Went for lunch prior to Christmas pleasantly surprised with the fix priced lunch menu, didn’t expect it to be running in December. The food was really well cooked and was lovely. Really nice atmosphere with friendly staff, and hot plates (hate cold ones)!! Really good value for money we shall be back.

From the welcoming staff, to the amazing food, what’s not to like. Add to this the amazing mid week 2 course meal deal and you’d be absolutely mad not to give this place a try, at least once!

No draft beer poor food quality and overpriced Meat quality poor and pasta very thick flourish poor lasagne no meat poor quality won't go there again!

This was our second visit within a month. You have to book in advance, fat Italian is a beautiful place, with an amazing team of staff from front of house to the chefs. So friendly nothing to much trouble. And the food is just Wow , so fresh and delicious. Plentiful. Our first visit we had a starter and main. 2nd visit main and dessert. This will be our monthly treat. This is by far the best Italian restaurant I've been to.

Absolutely fantastic from booking the table on the phone to the service and most importantly the food.Cooked to perfection and you can tell it was all fresh. This is a must place to go.

The place was packed for lunch on a Thursday afternoon! This did not hinder the service or the quality of the food at all. The food was hot and tasty. I had the mushrooms to start and the beef stroganoff with rice as my main. I chose to have the beef pink and it was cooked perfectly. The wine was reasonably priced, as were the coffees. All the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. We were there 4 hours and were never forgotten about once. The building itself is clean, modern and bright. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be going again.

I visited last Monday lunchtime with my grandparents and I think this will now be my go to place! It was very busy for a Monday lunch but we had no issues and staff handled the rush well! We were made aware of a slight wait due to a member of staff calling in sick but we were quite happy to wait as heard good reviews. I had the Cajun chicken pasta which was to die for followed by the Panacotta which was also exceptional. I will definitely be returning soon. Make sure to book as we weren’t expecting it to be so busy and if we hadn’t have booked I don’t think we’d have got a table!

Visited 3rd Jan 2024,,, it was very busy... and still the service was exceptional.. My niece had just had a food allergy test, and was adjusting to what she can and cannot eat,, the staff went over and beyond to accommodate her, and then the meals we had were excellent. I was really impressed with the whole experience, will definitely recommend to others.. thank you for a great evening.

Well what can I say about this place. Great atmosphere. Nothing to much trouble for the staff they make everyone welcome. The food is delicious and plentiful. Such a great place to eat with friends or just a romantic meal for 2. Highly recommend..

Utterly Fabulous from start to finish. The food was utterly fabulous as you could taste every flavour, it certainly woke your taste buds and the food was hot, well presented and delicious. Oh,I wish we had one in Lincolnshire!!!!! Staff were polite, warm, friendly and true ambassadors to the company. The prices were great too, not overly priced and won't leave a dint in your wallet at all. So would we go again - most definitely and well worth every single penny!!!

This was my second visit to The Fat Italian and again I felt it was on the whole average. This visit was a Saturday lunchtime and we arrived just after a big birthday party were being seated. Perhaps the reason the service was a little slow. The quality of the food was good but a couple of mix ups with our order just took the shine off the experience. The chocolate sundae wasn’t very good. No beers on draft and we struggled to get a waiters attention another round of drinks. Not bad but not great.

Always heard great things about this place, so chose it for our NYE meal. Really disappointed (probably shouldn't have chosen a busy night for our first time!) Starters came out quickly and were lovely. Mains arrived after a really long wait. We sat down at 7.30pm and were not eating mains until nearky 2 hours later. Ordered medium rare steak, it was really rare (essentially blue) so sent back. It came back on a roasting hot plate, still rare (they hadn't put it back on the grill). Sent it back again, it came back medium well, was gutted. Chunky chips were delicious though! Ordered more drinks during meal, they took over 20 minutes to arrive and waiter forgot our table water. Pudding arrived after another 30 minute wait. Chocolate brownie sundae with rock hard and chewy brownie, not very nice at all. To top it all off, table next to us were vaping throughout the meal. When reported to staff they said they hadn't noticed and gave us a bottle of prosecco to say sorry, nice gesture but didn't make up for our poor experience. Shame really as always heard great things about the Fat Italian. Might try the one I'm Ormskirk and see if it is any better!

Warm welcome from staff, the restaurant is spotlessly clean, plenty room between tables. We didn’t realise the lunch offer applied at weekends so that was a pleasant surprise. The tomato soup was one of the best I’d eaten, pesto mushrooms for my husband followed by beef stroganoff and the sirloin beef. Portion sizes were perfect, husband enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. Bill including drinks and coffee was spot on. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, we will be back.

From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely. Very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and we couldn't fault it at all . We had a lovely time celebrating my daughter's 30th birthday.

I called round to the Fat Italian after remembering where it was on a previous visit to the Left Bank Brasserie. Suffice to say it was a nearly perfect dining experience if you like Italian or Mediterranean food. Customer service was excellent. I chose to have the Funghi Ripieni starter followed by the Sea Bass. I was not overly keen on chorizo being in the main course. However, that is only my personal taste and in no way affected the quality of the main course, which was excellent. In conclusion, many thanks to Beth and her team for a high quality dining experience. Next time, I will bring my father Michael so he can enjoy the Fat Italian experience as well.

We visited on the October deal for the extended happy hour menu. We have not visited here before and came to celebrate my partners birthday. The food was amazing, everything was piping hot. The service was great too! Will definitely return

Friendly and relaxed with very efficient team looking after us. Menu is slightly different to the standard Italian fare and the food was uniformly very good. Definitely be going back.

On holiday in the area. Visited based on good reviews on Tripadvisor. We inadvertently booked on the Monday happy hour day, the restaurant was absolutely rammed. Service for us was a bit flaky to begin with but soon warmed up. Food was very good, though I would say my Filetto Al Pepe didn't feel in the slightest like an Italian dish. Friendly staff, very bustling atmosphere, lots of people having a good time. Not a venue for a quiet/romantic meal.

Our first visit as we're new to the area. Went for the early bird menu and it didn't disappoint. Excellent food and faultless service. We will be back soon.

Our first time. Monday night. The place was absolutely buzzing with guests. We were unaware of the great Monday deal that was on! We waited at the bar for our table to be ready, enjoying some lovely Lemon Beer. Very helpfully they took our food order while we waited, so when we arrived at the table the staters came out almost instantaneously. All of of which were very good quality. Mains came to follow all in very good time for the business of the restaurant. All piping hot, all delicious. I enjoyed a glass of the Sauvignon which was delightful. We finished with desserts which I’d happily eat time and time again. I finished strong with a perfectly balanced espresso martini. We were also Treated to some limoncello shots to round off an exceptional first visit. I will be back again this week with more friends!

A great place great design and superb staff. Food was excellent We had a problem tho with the noise. Very difficult to have a conversation as the room is ultra noisy. It was a Monday night and they have an excellent offer onwhich I think adds to the party gathering and so Happy birthday was sung many times. We went for the early bird to celebrate my daughter's gcse results and before she enrolled at college. Friendly and helpful staff. Food was delicious and so reasonable. Highly recommend!

We came as a large family group and couldn't fault it. Fantastic service, amazing food and staff were so lovely with all our children. They were particularly good with our niece who has a sesame allergy so checked with all ingredients first before we ordered. We can't wait to come back!

This was our first visit and after looking at the positive reviews we thought we would give it a try. We had an early evening reservation which gave access to the 'happy hour' menu pricing mains at £8.95 which supplements on certain choices. We had three different choices of Lasagne, Chicken Diane and Sea Bass followed by sticky toffee pudding. All the food was excellent, nicely presented with good portion size. The restaurant was very busy and while we were seated immediately, it was clear some larger parties were having to wait for tables to be cleared. Decoration inside the restaurant is contemporary and classy but the absence of any softer fabrics meant the restaurant was quite noisy. The restaurant also appeared to be geared towards larger parties and the configuration of tables meant that you may be seated quite close to other diners. Overall though, the experience was good, service polite and efficient with ample car parking on site.

Amazing food and service! Been here many times and each time we have thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service and attention from The staff is great, food is always top Quality and it’s also very reasonable prices. We shall be returning again very soon.
