Il Padrino in West Lancashire

I visited here with colleagues for a mid-week evening meal. There are some great deals on such as early bird where you get three courses for £16.95. I opted for that as the options I was going to get for starter and main were on there anyway and it worked out cheaper to do that than order them from the main menu (plus I got dessert in the early bird price too!) Starter of fried halloumi was really nicely cooked and a perfect sized portion. My colleague had calamari but they felt it was a bit soggy for their liking. For main I had penne dolca vita which was really tasty, It was nicely cooked, had a decent kick and flavour and was suitably portioned. Dessert I had ice-cream which was fine. Overall we had a good evening here and the food was a standard expected of a good Italian restaurant. Service was friendly and generally efficient. Would recommend for a good value Italian meal

Called in on chance and glad we did . Service was great Atmosphere was warm and welcoming Food amazing , BBQRibs and Lasagna fab Large portions My only request please stock white Zinfandel rose wine .

Went with a few friends for one of our colleagues leaving meal, the service was excellent, the food was delicious and very reasonable and because it was s Monday night and we ordered from the a la carte we got s bottle of wine free! A very friendly restaurant that I would highly recommend! Great menu choice! If anything too much choice, took us ages to decide as everything sounded amazing from pasta, pizza, Moroccan dishes to fillet steak! Something for everyone! Highly recommend here, it’s s regular meeting point for myself!

Came here for a special birthday meal. Waited 1.5 hrs for a pasta dish and a lasagna. Got wrong dish after waiting so long! Asked For bottle of wine got a glass, asked for a second glass of wine waited 15 mins for the wrong wine. Starter arrived, where ok - basic. 2 waitress’s on who where clearly not trained or happy! But not there fault! One asked if we would like the bill - we hadn’t even had any food yet! We left after 1.5 hrs and went somewhere else! Paid for what we had drank/ate! Music very loud and pop music - we asked if they could turn it down! Overall not a great experience at all, won’t be returning.

So, Came here after a long break due to Covid for steak night absolutely fabulous steak cooked to perfection staff were lovely and the food was fantastic!!! X We had fillet , porterhouse I normally go to a steak restaurant in aughton but must admit the steak here was much better Thanks guys we will be back next week!! X

Spur of the moment visit for Sunday lunch. What a find! Had 2 courses plus wine for £12.95. The seabass was magnificent (£3 supplement) Staff friendly and efficient especially Brad. Vikas (the manager) was very helpful and had a very calming presence. Enjoyed sticky toffee pudding for dessert yum! Will definitely come back

Found this place by chance, now we’re hooked, we have now been three tines in the past two weeks. Service great two lovely girls, very polite and eager to help, extensive menu reasonably priced, loved the pizza and sea bass. Loved it all. Going back for more soon

accepted all three of us as walk ins. service was fast and very polite as were all the waitresses and the manager/owner. food was tasty and the atmosphere was much better than the previous restaurant we’d been to previously, should’ve gone here first!! would go again, hopefully soon

I have visited Il Padrino many times with my family and also with friends. The food is excellent quality and exceptional value- highly recommended! Service is friendly. Waiting on staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. I am waiting for it to re-open after lockdown as I know it will be safe and food just as delicious. If you are in Ormskirk, pay them a visit as you won't be disappointed.

Only eaten here once and it was poor. our starter took an age to arrive and the main meal was not very tasty. the lager tasted as if the lines had not been cleaned for a bit. maybe will give it another go in the future but that once experience put us off.

Myself and my daughter visited today for the first time. We had fabulous food at a great price. I had spag bol which was really tasty Would recommend going here

5 of us chose different dishes, Chicken, Rissoto, spaghetti and the Special Burger ,all of which were devoured And thoroughly enjoyed with good service and a smile, not been for a long time but well pleased and will for sure Return, good offers during the week.

Just been for the first time to lo padrinos in Ormskirk, we will definately be returning, good value for money, lovely atmosphere, good service.. Pleasant staff... I Had the most succulent steak cooked to perfection... Topped off with a limoncello... Mmmm

Starter Italian combo was ok more Chinese than anything although the meatballs were gorgeous...lovely service cocktails 2 for 1 were ok nothing special...the steak was hit and miss too salty for the hubby my spaghetti carbonara was very filling I couldn't finish it ...wont go again I prefer the Fat Italian all day ....but ok for a quick Italian fix some good offers and a lovely manager...thanku

Yet another lovley meal tonight. Manager is a lovley guy. Food is beautiful. And tonight for the first time.. and I'm gutted I didn't get her name ! There was a new girl serving. Only young but so attentive, knowledgeable on everything asked and on the ball. You can't ask for more than good food, management and great staff . ( Give that kid a raise 😉 ) young staff can sometimes ( and I have teenagers ) not be that great !

Usually good offers on for lunch and midweek. Usually good value for money, service isn’t the best or worst. Sometimes food can be lovely, other times it can be bland and soggy

Went to Il Padrino for my husbands birthday, Thursday night met by Vikas the manager and the waitress Grace, what wonderful hosts. Food Exceptional, half price steak night on a thurs, we had T bone and fillet, both cooked to perfection, pepper sauce to die for and the Valpolicella wine, out of this world! Total bill £63, this place is the ultimate go to place, please support local, the guys went above and beyond for my husbands birthday! Will definelty be back!! Thank you so much x x

Visited last Friday and really enjoyed the 2 course early bird menu.So we went again last night to sample thursday steak night and were more than happy 2 of us had t bone and one fillet all tasty and cooked as we ordered rare and medium rare .washed down with a bottle of house red ,all delicious. Can't believe it was so quiet ,only a few tables taken.Will be returning on a regular basis. Just one quibble the music was a bit on the loud side almost had to shout at one another .A nice touch would have been some nice italian music just a suggestion would have added to the ambience .

Found this little gem online was a bit spectacle at first seemed to good to be true this restaurant is offering 2 for 1 on mondays and bottle of wine on the whole menu. The food was excellent service brilliant relaxed atmosphere were else can you get this bargain we had starter main 1 desert two coffees and 2 glasses of lemonade all for £42 not forgetting the wine my partner doesn't like wine but he enjoyed this. I throughly recommend this restaurant book early to avoid disappointment. I wish to thank the manager and staff for such a lovely experience. We will be going back on a different night because I would like to try the pasta dishes and cocktails. As the menu is so vast I think we will have to go back at least a hundred times to sample everything on the menu just absolutely loved this restaurant

We have been regularly fo a few years and the food and service has been excellent, unbelievable value.

Had pizza and pasta. Doesn't sound exciting but if you shut your eyes YOU CAN IMAGINE YOU'RE IN ITALY .... I'm sure they go to great lengths to get hold of authentic Italian ingredients. And the chefs are great as well to do the ingredients justice. In my opinion the best food experience in ormskirk. And incredible value too

Called in for a little Monday night treat with my son and young daughter, what a gem of a place, food lovely, staff very attentive, will be returning very soon :)

Had a nice family meal out at Il Padrino. Food was nicely presented, our waitress (Helen) was lovely and the manager came to say hello at the end of the meal. It was a very pleasant evening.

I visited II Padrino with my family to celebrate my graduation from Edge Hill University. This was my third visit and by far the best. We received great service and were served by Vikas. He explained the menu choices in detail and asked any queries we had. I hope to visit again sometime in the near future.

Myself and my partner visited for the first time in around 2 years. But both the food and the service (with brand new staff) was as great as ever.

Our meals were adequate, but the service was so slow. There were only about 4 covers in, so no excuse. When the waiter finally came to take our order we had to point out that we hadn’t even been given the menu yet. Took nearly 15 minutes to take payment after giving us the bill. The waiter belied his youth by adopting a strangely old fashioned and, some might say, sexist way, of speaking only to the male and totally ignoring the female of our couple.

I have visited il padrino on various occasions with friends, family and on date nights and I’m never disappointed! The food is always amazing,staff are very friendly and it is a very relaxed atmosphere. I prefer to come here over any other restaurant in Ormskirk, whatever the occasion and depending what day you go you can get some fab offers on food and drink too!

Visited on a Monday evening where the offer is 241 on everything plus a free bottle of wine!! The staff are all amazing. Only downer was my calamari was a little chewy and the pizza was quite thick although still delicious. The rest of the food and wine was delicious.Will 100% be returning.

Booked here on a Monday night for 11 people. Service and food was amazing. Considering there was 11 of us the starters and mains where ready in good time, we didn't have a desert as we couldn't fit it in, we were all full to the brim. All 11 of us really enjoyed the food, couldn't fault it. Such value for money too, this restaurant has some really good deals, 241 on mains on a Monday with free wine. Staff where very friendly and attentive. We will 100% be returning.

Wowww, I’ve been here before and it was lovely. food delicious, however tonight was fab, I eat out a lot and it’s hard to find a decent steak place in ormskirk/burscough miller and carter I find is okish( everyday restaurant) . The steaks here tonight tbone and fillet were beautiful can’t fault the service and was shocked at the price for the quality of food!! Value for money Our new Thursday steak night.

We love visiting, friendly, relaxed, good food......usually. What has happened? Chaotic, poor service, nobody seemed to be in charge last night. Unhappy customers complaining, a family didn’t get their meal and gave up, walking out after an hour - “lost the order” - after dismissive comments by serving staff.

We are regular customers but will not return. Visited last night for a meal with family. Despite there appearing to be plenty of staff waited ages for drinks to arrive and for food order to be taken. Waiting staff paid little attention to customers, and chatted behind the bar, as such people were clearly struggling to get drinks and orders. After waiting an hour we were informed that they had 'lost' our order, offered no apology and waiter proceeded to argue when we complained. We left without getting any food with very fed up, hungry and upset children. Really disappointing.

Booked table for family celebration at 6.30. On time, after constantly chasing uninterested and insolent staff, placed order. At 8.45 told order was lost! Restaurant nearly empty so what did they think we were doing. When we complained, waiter basically squared up to me, manager stood to one side and did nothing. Used to be good but with this attitude is clearly about to close. Just avoid.

I come il padrino a lot and always enjoy it but tonight the service was awful! I do believe because the manager was not in but all the staff just hanging around the bar area. We waited for 35 mins and still no one came to take our order so I went to bar and mentioned we needed our order taken. As I came back I noticed table next to us had been finished their mains for over 20 mins and still not cleared. They took our order and still ignored table next to us. It wasn’t until our starters came out that the table next to us eventually got cleared. Then once we had finished our mains no one asked us for desserts or anymore drinks. Completely ignored and forgotten about which is so poor from a restaurant which I would normally view as good but I do believe the terrible service is due to no manager being in. I also want to mention how the restaurant was not busy. I have been here on much busier nights when the service has been much better.

We visit IL Padrino on a regular basis but found over the past few visits that people were being turned away even though there was empty tables - this we found hard to understand. We visited last Saturday and things appeared back how it used to be

Our first visit here for my husbands birthday. Food was ok but service terrible. Had to ask three times for second round of drinks. Waited ages for dessert menu then gave up after 45 min of waiting for our order to be taken. Too much competition in Ormskirk to expect such poor service.

My partner and i love this place the food is excellent and service just as much. I always have the benny hill and he had steak last time were never dissapointed and wouldnt go anywhere else for italian food . Cant recommend enough .

Hi Visited last night and had a wonderful meal in a lovely friendly atmosphere. The most beautiful steak was half price and gorgeous. We were looked after by Joe who has fantastic customer service skills and was lovely .Thank you Joe

Went here because of reviews. The food was terrible, starter of mushroom and mozzarella was dry and over cooked and very small. The side salad was old and brown - should never have been out in the plate. I had steak ordered medium well was very well done and dry and the chips had obviously been cooked in the same fryer as fish as you could taste it. The pasta dish again was over cooked and dry. We were also over charged on our bill. Would not go back or recommend. The only thing from all the good reviews is that the chef has changed.

Best Tortellini 4 Formagio for miles around. Well filled tortellini, beautiful creamy sauce and good portion of bacon. Excellent house red. Well looked after by staff. We will be back.

My daughters and I visited this lovely, cosy place mid-week and the food, atmosphere and service were really good. Reasonably priced and a good menu. Will definitely visit again.

Been here twice recently. First was lunchtime when we had pizza and pasta. Absolutely top drawer, tasted like they used really authentic ingredients, as if I was back in Italy. Very pleasantly surprised. Much better and cheaper than a few flashy Italian places in the area I could mention, but won't - some Italian restaurants make everything too doughy, so it just feels like you've got a mouthful of white flour. This place gets it just right

Been a regular at this great little restaurant for several years and never fails to impress. Joe the manager and his staff Emilia and Lily are brilliant. Steaks are exceptional and consistent every time. Lovely place, lovely food great atmosphere and fantastic staff.

I was part of a group of friends that booked for Saturday lunch. The young girl that took our order was on her own so everything was really slow.

Food and service brilliant Pity they have taken salmon off the menu Monday evening extra super value!

We had a lovely meal. They have a two for one offer on Mondays, and included a free bottle of wine if we ordered two starters and two main courses, so even though we both had steak, it was very reasonable. The starters were delicious - we had the bruschetta and the ribs, which were gorgeous. We both had sirloin steaks, which were cooked exactly as required, had very little fat and the sauces were delicious. The staff were friendly and seemed to genuinely care whether we were enjoying our meal or not. The assistant manager was very attentive and gave us a free shot each of limoncello after the meal. I would definitely recommend Il Padrino and I'm sure we'll be back.

We decided to give this restaurant a go for an impromptu Monday night ‘date night.’

I think it's the Salmon fish cakes on the starter. They are very very very dry and tasteless. Do not order them! The food is average. I've been here twice and will refuse to come again if asked. Much better places around. Staff are friendly!!

Great meal deals every day. Good value for money. Food is always good. Rosa is fantastico. Always checking you are ok. She is fabulous waitress. Place would not be same without her. Will be coming back

We live locally and this is our regular restaurant for date night. We have always had good service and food but tonight my husbands food just wasn’t up to scratch and he didn’t eat it. So we complained - told them we always enjoyed the food it it was not right tonight. Well there was nothing they could do - we suggested the chef try it - but we’re told no need they know it’s fine - But it wasn’t. As very regular customers we thought they would reduce the billl - no- we were told very sternly we had to pay - so did. The card machine is always broken but miraculously worked when challenged We are so unhappy about this as we love this place usually. Probably won’t go again now and as local people we will tell all our friends. Such a shame.

We had promised Alex (11) that we would treat him to a meal at our favourite place. The staff made him and us feel really welcome.

Visited Il Padrino again this week. Just as good as ever. They do the best arrabiata in the area and the staff are so nice! We'll be back again soon.

There last week - as usual...great food and service at excellent prices. Just read a couple of 1 star reviews, very dubious indeed and one person stating that they are "only" getting one free meal (when 3 are dining) and free bottle of wine and they are still complaining!!!

We have been a customer for years but the front of house is very rude (male) .we stopped going .We tried the restaurant tonight and we understand its Christmas but again we went in and the Male waiter was rude No good evening have you booked . It was fully booked ring in . At 6pm the place had about 8 people in . This is the second time this person has been rude to us we used to go in on a Monday but mainly a Friday evening. The standard has dropped / thats why we stopped going . we went to the fat Italian down the road and totally opposite made to feel welcome and told us they need the table for 8pm A joy to be treated nice note to your management get your act together and get a better front of house staff .

Amazing we went last Thursday evening and the special offer was half price steaks and they where the best we have ever eaten we had one t bone and one tornedo beautiful and tender .

We've been going here for a number if tears mostly on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Always been excellent. Last night we tried for the first time the dinner menu..it was fabulous with excellent service from Joe and Rosa. Fantastic atmosphere, clean, warm and welcoming.

We have dined at Il Padrino over recent years, and previously found it welcoming, with good food and good value for money.

We have been numerous times, our only disappointment is when it is fully booked! The staff are always friendly.

We go here on occasion and have found Joe the manager to be involved and invested in making your evening run smoothly. On Thursday they have a 50% off all steak and fish from the al a cart menu. Literally a fillet steak with trimmings for £11!!!!

We have walked by here on the way to other eateries several times so I decided my wife and I needed to drop in and see what the food was like. I started with soup and my wife with Pate. The soup was, as described spicy, We then had a spiced hot meat dish each and it was truly hot but not disagreeably so and a few glasses of wine and beer were welcome. VERY help staff who were polite and explained the heat and contents of the meals I will be going again

Another visit again. 5* everytime. Food is amazing and cocktails are the best around 2 4 1 in the wee. and we have tried nearly them all. I love this resteraunt. We go most Fridays 2 courses for 10. Best value food and drink around. The food is actually top quality food not like the pubs where the food is cheap but fast okay. and I have to say best cocktails in Liverpool. Joe and the team are always very helpful and welcoming.

6 of is went for my wife’s birthday, 6pm on a Thursday. Staff were good, my 2 year old was looked after with crayons and drawing/colouring in paper. Food was fresh and tasty.

We had a sunday lunch, of which we both enjoyed. It was a lovely afternoon there. The lamb we had was excellent, The waiter very helpful.

It was like traveling to Italy. the staff is mostly from Spain but there is also an English lad. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very quiet and relaxed. Thank you all for making my Saturday night an amazing experience.

Went to this place tonight and I have to say I’ve never been to such a vile place!

We came here on Monday 17th with 9 of us for my boyfriend's birthday with all his family. We booked the table 3 days in advance. I called again 2 hours before we where due to go to say there was a cake on the way to them for my boyfriend this was when they informed me no such booking has been made and we had no table down I said we definatley did he then checked with staff and then apologised saying they had forgot to write it down and that he would sort something out. I have been to this restaurant about 10 times now and never ever knew there was an upstairs as this isn't advertised. I turned up on crutches I can't walk on my foot as it's broken. He looked at me and said oh it's upstairs is that ok? I said well not really they didn't try to sort it out just basically said we had to go upstairs when it was there fault they messed up the booking! So all that was annoying I had to hop upstairs. But then the food here is always lovley so we stayed. The starters and mains where both gorgous I had baked mushrooms and clam pasta and both where lovley everyone loved the food so if it where just the food in question this review would be 5 star. It was the customer service and organisation that spoiled it. There was one lad I don't know the names but he tried to sort out the mistake safe by others and I felt sorry for him but there was one sister who walked off downstairs in the middle of us speaking trying to order drinks we had to ask him could he stand still while we speak! He then only brought one drink just forgot the rest we had to re order them and then one meal was brought out wrong and had to be sent back and they brought out something no one had ordered. Maybe it was out fault for going with such a large part on the busiest day because Monday is 50 percent off. What i will say is isn't be put off definatley go here it's worth it but if you are going in a large party make sure you state on booking if u can't do stairs and make sure to go any day but monday.monfay is fantastic because of the deal but might be more successful in a small group.

Wanted to take my wife out to celebrate my birthday 13/7. Booked a table for 1900.Steaks arrived at 19.46. Overcooked and toughish. Apologised to and told that our wine was free because of our trouble. Not so. Paid in full except for a Peroni lager that was free for our trouble. Been there a few times but no more. Disappointed.

always busy on Monday night as half price, when I booked I was told they needed the table back at 7.30, fine by us, not made a bit welcome when we arrived, waitress very curt & unfriendly, ordered a beer which didn't arrive. The main course came at 7pm, so we felt rushed.The food was delicious but I was too up tight to enjoy it. Dreadful loud music so couldn't hear each other. Some friends go every Monday & love it, but we felt very unwelcome.

We booked here as it is our usual go-to spot for special occasions; food and service are usually always outstanding. However, the past few times that we have been, we’ve noticed a few things have been slipping. On our last visit, for my sister’s birthday, my dad and sister both ordered a fillet steak with pâté, to be cooked rare - when the food came out, only one of the pâté steaks arrived (without the pâté), and then we were told that we had only ordered 1 (which we definitely hadn’t) my Dad was a little disappointed with his meal because the steak he received was a little overdone and there was no more left to replace it - not the end of the world, however, It would not have been so bad if we weren’t sat directly opposite to the kitchen and bar, having to listen to the arguing that was going on between staff. It left us feeling a bit awkward and in the way. After eating our food - which was mostly all delicious (as usual) - we discovered that on the bill, an extra meal had been added on, and when I challenged the waitress - who took our order at the beginning - I was told that it was correct, and had to explain repeatedly that it was not...it is simple maths, paying for 9 meals, despite there only being 8 in our party, isn’t correct (I can see from previous posts that this has been a recurring theme!). I hope that this was just a one-off as we really want to come back again to this lovely little restaurant, it’s usually a great place to eat.

My Husband and i was walking past II Padrino and decided to go in and have the Early Bird menu.On arrival we were shown to a table for two people,i noted as i was walking in there were only three tables so i thought we should get served quite quickly.Our order was taken,but we seemed to be waiting a long time for our starter,in the meantime another couple came in and ordered.We were still waiting for our starter,then the other couple were given there starter and we were still sat there.We then told waiter we have been waiting nearly 25 mins for our starter,he went to kitchen then turned up with it,no apology given.The waiters kept going to the front door to see if they could get anyone else in,they really should of been looking after the people who were already in there and waiting to be served.The mains were really nice and i wont let this put me off going again,if it happens again i won't return...

We went tonight with my parther, sister and my dad. We had 2 courses each 1 cocktail and 2 pints and it all came to 50 pounds! Monday is the 50 percent off everything deal and if you get 2 courses each you get a free bottle of wine and the house white is really nice. The lasagne is the best lasagne I have ever had and I have been to Italy! Honestly give this place a go it's amazing. The staff are lovley and there are italian waiting staff as well. Fantastic place gorgous food

What used to be a lovely restaurant has become a victim of it's own success. The food is still lovely, yet the service has just become a joke.

We have dined here quite often and left positive reviews but after our last experience we won't be returning in a hurry. We should have realised when the couple next to us waited an hour for there mains, our garlic bread starter took nearly 40 minutes and no offer of black pepper we had not quite finished when our mains came,

If you like eating food that has been prepares on the same slab as chicken, pork, beef and toast this is the place for you.

We booked for a family group of 16 which included three under 6 but wish we went to somewhere more family friendly. The menu has plenty of choice although the majority went for the specials board choices (around £25 surf & turf fillet steak). I had a prawn starter which was approx £7 for 3 battered prawns and sirloin main £16 (asked for medium rare got medium, was so hungry I just ate it, was ok). The chips were those thin frozen type which made the meal look average but by the time the food was served we were all starving as there was around an hour in between ordering starters and them arriving. So everyone ate the lot, don’t get me wrong, food wasn’t bad just underwhelming. The kids all chose the ‘make your own pizza’ option which was one of the reasons we chose the restaurant, assuming that they were child friendly. The menu stated that kids would also get to wear ‘chefs’ hats but they had none when we asked. This was a disappointment as we’d already told the kids about them, due to the long wait between ordering the kids were restless and 2 cried as they were so hungry, I also started to feel uncomfortable due to the other diners having to listen to the restless kids which I know is a nuisance when you’re out for a meal and they are not your own! We had to prompt the staff for kids drinks, deserts (they didn’t offer the desert at all, we definitely felt they just wanted us to go!), they didn’t understand the needs of a family with small children.

Second visit to this lovely little restaurant and didn't disappoint us. Fifty percent of all meals and a free bottle of wine on a Monday, make sure to book a table! The food was delicious and the staff, although very busy, were attentive and seemed genuinely happy to make sure everything was okay for everyone. The young girl, sorry I didn't get your name, was brilliant. Definitely will be returning.

I ve been here 4 times and would definitely recommend it. Great restaurant layout and great food. If you love italian i would definitely go.

Absolutely packed but as usual Joe had everything under control and made sure everything ran smoothly Having to train new staff as he went along. He went out of his way to welcome his guests and escorted them to the door as they left. A true gentleman! I hope you are well paid as you are doing the job of matre de, trainer, waiter jack of all trades. No, I am not his mother but someone lwho has worked in the customer service for years. Oh, sorry the food was delicious.

Well we found a little gem in ormskirk last night I'll Pacino. What a fantastic night my friends and I had, the food was tremendous we had steaks and pork and it was wonderful even more so as the steaks were half price, but the icing on the cake.....the staff, so friendly and helpful especially ROSA from Benidorm what a gift she was to our night, she looked after us so well and we had such a laugh with her, my friends live in Spain and the banter with Rosa was great fun so thank you for a wonderful night FABULOUS food and good service 200 % cheers we will be back A.S.A.P. XX

Lovely meal had by all. Steak and the accompanying sauces were delicious. Could do with some more vegetables to go with dish but otherwise no complaints. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.

We went to ll Padrino for a family birthday meal. The early bird menu was excellent, great choices on each course and a reasonable price. The staff were all very friendly making us feel welcome.

first time here lovely food nice relaxed setting. Very tasty gluten free pasta, our waiter (the only waiter) needed an award he was so busy serving food & also behind the bar. But he was smiling all the time. Definitely would return thank you.
