The best restaurants serving British food in West Lancashire North West

Called in for Lunch on Thursday with the other half, both had fish and chips which was perfectly cooked. Chris and Caroline were both attentive and friendly.We will be back

The food/ingredients are fresh, with the chef taking care in the cooking and serving of them, hence being delicious. The menu offers a good selection of starters, main meals and desserts to cater to most people's tastes. There is also a set 2 course lunch for £14.99 which is excellent. However, I prefer to have a dessert other than a starter so was very disappointed when I asked if I could swap the starter for a pudding, Leo, the owner stated, "no but I will sell you a pudding." Whilst this was said in jest, it would have been good customer service to oblige (as other restaurants do), as they were not losing out on profits due to the cocktails, mock cocktail etc purchased. Consequently, the rating being 4 star, which you readers may agree whilst excellent; it was a shame that a bit of "money grabbing" let the establishment down. This also applied to not having another member of staff come on duty to take orders, serve and clear tables until around 1.30ish, thus the owner running around single handedly and customers waiting either for their meal or for other things they may have requested to enhance their food/meal🤷

Food was excellent and the staff were friendly. We went for lunch and we will return. Very good varied menu with plenty of choice

I often meet friends here for a bit of breakfast and a coffee or two. The service and food is usually of a good standard as it was on this occasion. There’s plenty of car parking space but it can get a bit busy on occasions. Well worth a visit.

Stopped for lunch in the garden. Nice friendly service. Good selection of non alcoholic beers and lagers/cask. Vegetarian platter and sandwich were very nice. Great pub if you are passing.

Lovely bar and restaurant. Service is great and staff are warm and friendly.

I saw the picture of the Ship on their website and it was a let down when we arrived we had to wait over 45 minutes for a gammon and a meze salad and the place was freezing so when the food arrived I was freezing and disappointed the chips were like warm ups lot of them with black on them I left them ate the steak quickly paid the bill and left and would never go back or recommend it to anyone

Another lovely lunch at Tastebuds. Food was delicious. Atmosphere lovely and friendly. Brilliant outdoor seating area. Staff were all lovely and accommodating. Massive thanks to our server Lisa who made our visit really memorable..

Had a lovely family meal here. Every one of us enjoyed our food. 3/12 of us had fish and chips and the portions were huge. Fish had a really crispy batter. 2 had the beef burger which was juicy and tasty. No-one was disappointed. Will be happy to return soon.

Top bar with a great atmosphere, range of beers and gins etc., the food is good, reasonably priced with choices of sharing or large portions, always hot and fresh, prepared upstairs in small kitchen. Can get a little crowded has it's not that big, but that contributes to the atmosphere and quaintness of the interior.

We can honestly say the sandwiches were by far the worst we have ever had! It was a cold wet day and the egg sandwiches were so cold that the lettuce was frozen in the middle. I took them back to the counter and was offered an exchange. The tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches were so soggy they had almost disintegrated. I don't understand why they couldn't make them fresh to order - there seemed to be enough staff standing around! Never again!

Me and a friend popped in for some lunch, we were met with lovely smiling faces from Chris and Jac. Lovely service from both of them they deserve a pay rise. the food was delicious, the sticky crispy chicken was to die for and the pizzas were perfect. i believe the chefs were andy and amy. amazing overall will definitely be returning!!!!!!

5000 estrellas es darle en comida y servicio al cliente. Ya han pasado unas 5 veces. La misma encantadora chica amable y amigable detrás de la barra. Nada es demasiado problema para ella y siempre tiene una sonrisa en su cara. Es dog friendly en ciertas partes de la hormiga del bar hay una enorme y encantadora cervecería. Si eres vegetariano te recomendaría el asado de frutos secos más delicioso que hayas probado
