The best restaurants serving British food in West Lancashire North West

Called in for Lunch on Thursday with the other half, both had fish and chips which was perfectly cooked. Chris and Caroline were both attentive and friendly.We will be back

Lovely Sunday roast chicken cooked perfectly & the roast potatoes were deliscious, all served hot. We also had Bakewell tart with ice cream & lemon meringue, ( suggest less berries on the meringue though) They have a nice selection of drinks too. The staff worked very hard with service as it got very busy about 4.30. Definitely visit again. Glad to see it reopened.

Food was excellent and the staff were friendly. We went for lunch and we will return. Very good varied menu with plenty of choice

I often meet friends here for a bit of breakfast and a coffee or two. The service and food is usually of a good standard as it was on this occasion. There’s plenty of car parking space but it can get a bit busy on occasions. Well worth a visit.

Stopped for lunch in the garden. Nice friendly service. Good selection of non alcoholic beers and lagers/cask. Vegetarian platter and sandwich were very nice. Great pub if you are passing.

Came here bank holiday Monday because the car park at the Running Horses was busy. Didn’t realise it was under new management. We were greeted by a really friendly girl, Ted. Although we did have a wait for our starter which they compensated with a free drink for our neurodivergence son. The food was delicious we had Broccoli and Stilton soup and Fish and Chips. Great value too.

Had a lovely family meal here. Every one of us enjoyed our food. 3/12 of us had fish and chips and the portions were huge. Fish had a really crispy batter. 2 had the beef burger which was juicy and tasty. No-one was disappointed. Will be happy to return soon.

Top bar with a great atmosphere, range of beers and gins etc., the food is good, reasonably priced with choices of sharing or large portions, always hot and fresh, prepared upstairs in small kitchen. Can get a little crowded has it's not that big, but that contributes to the atmosphere and quaintness of the interior.

We can honestly say the sandwiches were by far the worst we have ever had! It was a cold wet day and the egg sandwiches were so cold that the lettuce was frozen in the middle. I took them back to the counter and was offered an exchange. The tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches were so soggy they had almost disintegrated. I don't understand why they couldn't make them fresh to order - there seemed to be enough staff standing around! Never again!

This place is an utter shambles! Ordered for collection on the app - the app told me it would be ready in 5 mins which would have been perfect for my train departure time. I got to the shop and not only was it not ready it hadn’t been been started. I ordered two coffees and a panini. I waited 17 mins and still nothing. I went to the counter for a refund and the girl said she couldn’t help me, didn’t know how to refund, also seemed completely uninterested in helping me and to make matters worse she didn’t even have my panini in stock. Needless to say due to this incompetence I missed my train. Just an utter chaotic shambles. Will never return and quite possibly avoid Costa forever. A serious overhaul needed

Just called in for a drink after a long walk, lovely pub and staff, the food looked and smelt amazing will look forward to booking in for food next time.
