The staff in this little place are so friendly. The food is varied from lovely salads to a full English. Nothing too much bother. Love going here. Its become our No1 eatery in Ormskirk.

Just popped in to this wonderful cafe and spoilt ourselves with an Afternoon Tea….Soup, sandwiches, scones and cakes!! Absolutely fantastic and needed a cake box to take home what we couldn’t eat!! Massive portions, great prices and really warm and welcome staff…Thankyou guys x A little bit too much sweet stuff (Perfect for the sugar lovers) bigger soup less cakes, keep the scones they were sublime!! Thats a personal thing though, your chef is amazing x

This has become our go to place in Ormskirk, and that us saying a lot, as there are numerous cafes and restaurants dotted about the town. I love the salads that are beautifully presented, but all the food which is freshly prepared, looks lovely. The staff cannot be more helpful and friendly and know recognise us when we arrive. It's a great place with a varied menu, and a delicious selection of home made cakes.

Afternoon tea delivered. Could have made the sandwiches better myself. Odd shape squares with really thick bread more like doorsteps. Not much fillings and didn’t get salmon & cream cheese or any coleslaw with the ham. Cakes and scones good. Soup was lovely.

Ordered afternoon tea for my nieces 40th. Delivery on time. Was given a list of sandwiches one of which was salmon and cream cheese, this was replaced by tuna without any consultation. Also ham and coleslaw was on the list, this came with only ham. The sandwiches came in squares and the bread so thick with not much filling. The scones came ready made with cream and jam, although I’d said I wanted the cream and jam I did think it would be on the side. Scones very tasty and cakes lovely. The soup homemade and very good. Overall a nice afternoon tea but could have been so much better. Thinner bread, more filling and advised of a sandwich replacement. Better presentation without a doubt.

The place is small but lovely. Really nice decoration. the staff is nice a the owner cant do anymore to pleased customers. nice coffee shop.

The Edge is our go to cafe most Saturday mornings. We’ve not been in for a few weeks now due to other commitments and we are missing our weekly visit. The food is reasonably priced, freshly made and lovely. My usual smashed avocado with smoked salmon and poached eggs with chilli flakes is gorgeous. They even got in a pepper mill to sate my need for cracked black pepper on everything! My wife usually has the breakfast frittata which is fantastic. Friendly service from the lovely staff who are always happy to accommodate any requests. The cafe is relatively small and has a mixture of table sizes and some Pullman type bench seats (which are a little tight for the larger visitors). They get lots of repeat customers so they must be getting something right! We hope to get back very soon- it’s been way too long!

An all time favourite of mine, as it was my dad's. Jill, Becca and the crew always offer a cheery welcome and the food is always fresh and delicious .

Have you ever watched The Simpsons? Have you seen that scene where Homer says "mmmmm Chocolate!"? Well that's how I feel every time I have one of their chocolate milkshakes. I implore you to try one, you'll feel as if you are in chocolate heaven when you have one. Their chocolate milkshake is truly a work of art and is absolutely divine to drink. My favourite meal there is the jacket potato with vegan chilli. Now the jackete potato is divine. It's so fresh that I felt they must have grown it themselves! The skin is super crisp too and I love the way the butter is perfectly melted on it. The chilli is gorgeous. It's not too spicy, its not too mild. It's just right for everyone to taste. This is a meal fit for a king and I would strongly encourage you to try it for yourself whether you are a vegetarian or not. I am going to make a point of going in there more frequently for this and when you've tried it you'll see what I mean. So are they worth the money? Good value at 20 times the price. Would I go there again? With food of such quality I'd go there all day every day if I could. Would I recommend them to anyone else? In a heartbeat, trust me I am the real James Bond and you'll be shaken but not stirred.

Absolutely fantastic afternoon tea. Lovely service and fresh and tasty soup, sandwiches and cakes. The highlight for us was being able to choose which soup we wanted and which sandwich fillings too -we loved how personalised the experience was . Thank you

Lovely staff. Food was so good went back 3 hours later. All food going out was freshly prepared and looked lovely. Soup was homemade. Choice of Tomato and Basil or Broccoli and Stilton. Scones were warm out of the oven. Wish I'd taken photos. Son just starting Uni nearby. We'll be making any more visits

It was OK first time I had egg mayonnaise on a club sandwich, for me it wasn't right. Haven't been here for a while, I remember it was nicer previously.

Great cafe near Ormskirk town centre serving delicious meals and cakes. Kids meals available too. Would highly recommend.

We are doing a tour of Ormskirk trying jacket potato and beans... our first place award goes to Gavin @ The Edge. We chose the Bacon and Beans topping and it was an absolute pleasure to eat it. This little gem is slightly out of the centre but it is well worth the extra few yards..We have eaten here quite a few times since lockdown was lifted and can honestly say we have never ever had a bad experience. Well done Gavin and his lovely team. Thankyou.

We experienced wonderful, friendly service and and was impressed with the exceptional menu. Really good, home cooked food, offering something different from other places around. I ordered a breakfast omelette that came with toast and a good coffee. I struggled to decide what to have and will definitely be back for some more delights!

Visited here again this week. Friendly service and good food. Minor criticism, there needs to be less Hollandaise Sauce on the eggs 'Royale' dish. I might want to mix with the egg yolk but I want that to be my choice. Use a slice of salmon as a breakwater .... I'm nitpicking. A solid effort, 9 on 10.

This was a return visit to The Edge and I was looking forward to having the vegan platter again as I had enjoyed it last time. However, I was distracted by several other vegan choices on the menu. How fantastic to be spoilt for choice! I went for the vegan sausage panini with onion relish and side salad which was delicious. The coffee was really good too. Service was super friendly and helpful and I think my meal was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be visiting The Edge again soon.

Had the ultimate breakfast and it was better than expected, the bacon and hash browns were crispy, the sausages and black pudding were great and so were the fried eggs and mushrooms and two rounds of toast were perfect, definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved my breakfast and definitely will be going again. Got no faults at all with the service and the staff should be proud :)

Dissatisfied, we were given the breakfast menu at 11:34, asked for lunch menu, soup was served Luke warm with a thin slice of bread and portion of butter. Nice pot of tea though, we purchased 2 scones to take out, served from the counter uncovered, they were not fresh. We wondered if this was under new ownership? This was a lovely cafe. We will not return

Staff very friendly and helpful. Had brunch , scrambled egg was very overcooked. Smoked salmon was tasty but small portion. The smell of food frying was over whelming. Think they need to invest in some good extractor fans

Delicious fresh food! Definitely recommend the steak baguette.

Clean and honely but the prices are very steep for the amount and quality of food you get. The "ultimate" breakfast is £11 and is pretty much the bog standard everywhere else. If you pike to pay more for style and presentation than what is going into your mouth, you may like it more. Go to The Whistle Stop Cafe in Wigan if you want a real breakfast.

A friend of mine had told of the Edge of Ormskirk and it looked really nice from outside so I decided to give it a whirl. I am glad I did. I went in. The first thing I noticed was how cosy it is. This very pleasant young man gave me a menu and I asked for a Chocolate milk shake. Then as I sat down I looked at the menu. I saw this ploughmans platter which really grabbed my attention. I am a vegetarian so I made an unusual request. I asked for one without ham and this very kind lady gave me another cheese instead. Now I can eat cheese for England and I smiled as she offered another block of stilton. In terms of bread I was asked for brown or white and chose one of each. Then the world's biggest milkshake arrived- literally. It was huge, it was laden with cream and marshmallows- it was divine- it was a chocoholic's dream! If Homer Simpson was trying one he'd he saying "mmmmm Chocolate." I wondered if I'd have room for the meal. Then it arrived- a meal fit for a king. It was a good thing I didn't have an appointment for a while because this was a huge meal. I can eat cheese for England so I was spoiled for choice. All in all it was a meal that left me shaken but not stirred. Was it worth the money? Absolutely - it was very cheap for what I got. Would I go again? Yes. Would I recommend them to anyone? All day, every day. The next time you are in Ormskirk go and pop in. I promise you that you won't be disappointed but just allow more time for a huge meal.

Visited today with 4 friends to belatedly celebrate friends 80th birthday. Very busy when we arrived but staff welcoming and coping with busy service. Staff very friendly and served generally by Luke who we believe is fairly new. Lovely friendly approach, attentive and learning quickly....

My family and I visited today for afternoon tea as part of my mums birthday celebrations. From the moment we walked in the service was excellent and the food of very high quality. There was plenty of choice and the staff were happy to answer any questions. The afternoon tea was a good price and well presented. I would highly recommend visiting The Edge and will be returning. It was extremely busy so you may need to book.

Very very impressed today with the Edge, we had 3 adult afternoon teas and 2 children’s afternoon teas. The service was exceptional and everything was tailored to our requirements, our children where very happy.Not often there’s cake left over with our family, but there was!Highly recommended on this visit.

Lovely afternoon tea, I liked the fact that we had choices for our sandwiches and cake (and tiny soup which was a surprise added bonus!). The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.

We have lovley bfst all cooked just right, I also had beautiful salad steak pie was very nice though my chap said he would of liked more pastry, but it was plenty veg was lovley ,staff friendly,smiley, helpful ,thankyou.

The full English breakfast is second to none,good value,nice polite staff and great situation for people watching lol
