This was a Takeaway meal and was really looking forward to it, so when I got it home and the onion rings looked like they were from the day before and the chunky chips looked like they had been left in the fryer way too long I was very disappointed, it wasn't that hot and the Cajun chicken wings were not that nice, my main meal Beef Stroganoff was ok but again not very hot, And to top it off you can not pay by card, cash only, with what's going on at the moment you would think that they wouldn't want to be handling money and food at the same time, wont be going back

First off, food was nice. But the portion was ridiculous and it wasn't hot. We ordered 2 Full Montys to take away. It was in a tiny silver tray you get from the Chinese containing 1 sausage 2 small bacon a spoon of beans and an egg!! In a other pot was a hash brown and about 5 mushrooms! Considering it cost £16 for two of these I wouldnt return. We went back and complained about the portion and was given an extra 2 cold sausages from the fridge..

We have moved to Hesketh Bank and this place was recommended to us to try by our neighbour. So with this Lockdown we are in from the Covid-19 virus I rang up to see if they did takeaway and was delighted they did delivery. My husband had the Beef stroganoff and I had Penne Arribati with one cheesy pizza bread and one Mexicano . Throughly enjoyed it, my husband kept eyeing mine out . For £25.00 including delivery a good choice.

In need of something to eat, decided to try the Olive Tree. The last of the properties with a sit in area for us to try in our first year in the village. So sorry it took us slow long to give it a go. Quite a wide and interesting variety on the menu for a little place. I had the Olive Tree special, with black pudding. My wife tried the scrambled egg, crispy bacon. Both lovely, well cooked, nice amount of food too. Friendly, efficient staff.Lots of people calling in for take away orders. Open late of a Thursday,Friday and Saturday.

This delightful cafe/restaurant (in Tarleton, West Lancashire, not Preston in spite of the post code) which is open all day, also does an evening session with additional specials as main meals Thursday to Saturday. We were helping to stage a performance of The Gondoliers from the The Hoghton Players Gilbert and Sullivan Society at the nearby Holy Trinity Church and needed a quick early evening meal. We were welcomed with enthusiasm and took a starter glass of wine while we checked out the menu. I went for the specials board sea food risotto, while Sue decided on a pasta dish from the regular menu. Both came quite quickly, were delicious, and of a sensible size. We finished with a hot chocolate and a coffee. When we were ready to leave, the very reasonable bill came quickly, we paid it happily (NB: cash only - but the Co-op cash machine is only five minutes walk away) and went off to set and sing completely content. If you prefer to eat at home, they do take-aways.

Omg never again, everything is deep fried including the hash browns, but not just deep fried but fried in the same oil as everything else they fry, tastes revolting. Sausages where I'm sure out of date. Eggs well they where hard, not good with a breakfast. Beans cold. All in all it was rank. Oh no sorry toast was nice. To cap it all I paid 18 for 2 breakfasts and 2cups of tea. Left feeling pretty damn ripped off and hungry. Just awful.

Visited after a recommendation but we're disappointed to find little choice for vegan or no gluten diets. I ended up with a jacket potato as there was little else to choose from for me as a no gluten eater. The potato was ok but nothing out of the ordinary and was the usual price range of over five pounds. The food did take some time to arrive and we noticed that gloves were not worn when placing salad leaves from a bag onto the plates! The décor was ordinary and not very cosy .Felt more like a take away than a cafe. . The waitress was however very nice and pleasant. Ok for a cuppa if you are passing but would not make a special journey here again.

I have previously raved about this place, however the quality really has gone down hill. I ordered the seafood special pasta and found a hair in it. My wife ordered the lasagna and the cheese looked congealed and unappetising. The garlic calzone was a greasy mess and when we broke into it it reminded me of a burst spot on the plate. I have noticed that there is a young staff in there now and that the owner isn’t cooking the dishes anymore. The formula for this place has broken which is a shame as I used to love it. The owner did try and rectify the situation by sending a fresh dish free of charge which he should be commended for.

Nipped in for coffee and cake and a quick lunch for our 8 year old as it had been recommended.Strange layout - feels like you are in someones front room with a big open cooking area. The coffee and hot chocolate were ok - cake was pre-bought in but they made an effort to present nicely on a plate. Kids sandwich was ok too. Not as great as i expected to be honest. The main thing that let it down though was how we were made to feel - like we were interrupting their day and should not be there. It was very quiet with just 2 other tables occupied but these were obviously regulars and the owner stood chatting to them the whole time and acted like we were not there. We will try again - maybe a take away one evening and see how that goes.

It was by chance we were in Tarleton. The local parcel drop off was closed, Tarleton was open. It was near lunch time so we decided to go back to The Olive Tree, where we had had good service & food over the past 4 years. On entering it was obvious the cafe had had a make over since our last visit, new tables & chairs, decor & I think the cooking area was new. On checking the prices, they had risen somewhat since our last visit, probably to pay for the up-grade. It was a wet Easter Monday, & there was only one other customer. We ordered drinks, me white coffee, my wife a fruit juice as she thought the hot chocolate too expensive. I ordered Eggs Benedict which I had enjoyed previously there, my wife a Hot Ham bagette, no bagettes so she had to settle for white bread. The waiter asked if we would like a bowl of chips to share, so we agreed. The food arrived. my Eggs Benedict didn't look like any eggs benedict I had had before, usually there is a goodly portion of hollandaise sauce with the muffin & eggs covered. This looked as if it had come out of a spray bottle with a thin pattern across the muffins. The eggs were just on the point of solidity, not as runny as they should be. My wife's ham sandwich, which should have been a hot bagette, was a cold sandwich, with a salad & red onion in the salad, she doesn't like onions!!! Not being very enchanted with the food, we quickly eat up & went to the till for the bill. £15.45 was the total, which I thought £12 would have been expensive. This morning when I got up I had to rush to the toilet & all day have suffered with bouts of severe diarrhoea, & this afternoon my wife had to go to the chemist for a box of Imodium, hopefully I won't have to resort to the doctor. The chips were the best part of the meal, the rest was certainly below standard. I suspect the so called hollandaise had been pre made & gone past its sell by date. We certainly won't be going back.

Nothing fancy about the place or the food but none of that matters when you are made to feel so welcome. Anything from a pot if tea to a full meal can be had at very good prices.Recommended.

Lovely freshly cooked food, made in front of you in the open kitchen - happy to cater for all dietry needs and also cook food not on the menu if something takes your fanci. Not the cheapest in the area but the best - you get what you pay for, always a pleasure to visit.

I have visited this place a number of times now and each time decide I will not go back (but end up going back as someone else invites me) because I just think the quality of the food is poor and so over priced.I recently had a prawn sandwich there which when came was literally two slices of very stale bread (which has been the case on more than one occasion) with a few prawns which cost £5.10 there was no garnish or crisps just literally the two slices of stale bread for over a fiver! I have since been in with my toddler and asked if they would be kind enough to just cook two items from the breakfast menu however they brought her an adult sized meal with things we hadn't asked for and charged me just under a fiver for it, I wanted to send it back and say this is not how I ordered it but my little one was so hungry we couldnt have waites while they made a new one, I couldn't help but think they were just trying to make more money from us! and again this isn't the first time they have done this here! I find the staff are nice here but after the last few times I have been I feel that they sometimes trick you into spending more money than you intended by giving you more than what you ordered and charging you for it, will definetly not be returning again

I have been here once or twice and was a bit dissapointed to see their cakes were from cosco, going somewhere like this I thought the cakes would be home made not just ones I can buy myself! and I found bo th the cakes and bread were a bit dry.Probably wouldn't rush back here as there's lots of similar places is the area that are much better

We've visited The Olive Tree on several occasions now, both as eat in customers and for take-aways (a new service they offer on Friday and Saturday evenings). To sum it up in one word - WOW! Everything we've had has been made fresh, from scratch and has been delicious! The attention to detail tops that of many posh restaurants with food served beautifully and very creatively!! Nothing is too much trouble for Ali, he even asked what pizza toppings I would have if I could choose anything (I absolutely love goats cheese and red onion) and upon telling him this he bought goats cheese especially for our now regular weekend take away pizza! A hidden gem - well worth a visit, especially with such a warm welcome from Ali and Louise.

Popped in for tea with Mum - tried a vegetarian calsone pizza, literally 'stuffed' with wonderful aubergine, sugar snap peas, cabbage, tomatoes, onions and mozzarella in a thin and crispy pizza dough. What a whopper!! Truely delicious. Excellent value and the usual warm and welcoming service. I suggest Laura K gives up the prawns and has one of these instead!!

i happened to come across the RANT by the previous poster Laura K and felt that I should add my opinion. Since The Olive Tree Cafe opened I have attended weekly on a Wednesday. More often than not I have a prawn mayo sandwich. I have never experienced any problem with my prawns, they have always been as cold as they should be. I have never had a complaint about the food nor the staff and I will continue to attend The Olive Tree. She should also not eat prawns if she is pregnant.

I called at The Olive Tree on sunday 29th June for a take out prawn mayo sandwich. This quick lunch option took 30 mins to prepare! However I decided this wasn't too much of a problem as they appeared to be freshly preparing the pitta bread so hopefully the wait would be worth it. I took the sandwich home and sat to enjoy. Immediately on the first bite I realised that the prawns were still partially defrosted. As all people know, seafood is a high risk of causing food poisoning if not defrosted correctly. This is dangerous for anyone but more so for pregnant ladies, as I am. I decided I needed to go back and let them know what had happened. I had no intention of causing a fuss or becoming agro about the incident as these things do happen. I did not want to cause a scene especially in a shop full of other customers. Thats just not my style. However on returning I was disgusted by the proprietors response and attitude to the incident. He advised me that he had made the sandwich himself and the prawns were ok to eat. I decided he obviously needed to have evidence of the partially defrosted prawn so I removed one from the sandwich. It was stone cold and crunchy, clearly still partially frozen. However he responded by waving his arm in the air and saying 'no, no, this is how we serve them'!!! At this point I advised him that that although I wasn't upset by the incident before I was not fuming by his attitude and the fact that he was now lying to me. I also advised him it was completely unacceptable to serve customers partially defrosted seafood. He very rudely replied, 'what do you want to do' and I requested a refund. He gave me the refund and waved his arm in the air again! No apology or acceptance of the incident was acknowledged by him. To be clear, I have never before eaten a crunchy partially defrosted prawn and have no intention of doing so. Both this service and attitude is unacceptable and all should be aware of this. Eat there at your own risk!

Would highly recommend. Had a quick lunch out with a workmate and have visited a few times with my mum before. We had a pizza and a ciabatta. They were both cooked to order, piping hot and full of lovely fresh ingredients. Asked for pineapple on my pizza - no problem and the staff are lovely. The portions are plentiful, fresh and tasty. There are plenty of options on the menu including brunch/breakfast options. My workmates often get a take out at lunch or call before and pick the order up and they always enjoy the food. Would recommend and will be back soon next month with my Mum.
