A late review but an enjoyable lunch at this homely cafe in Tarporley. We failed to find any parking nearby but at least this gave us an opportunity to browse the shops as we made our way to the cafe. We visited as a group of four friends and had to wait for a table as it was very busy. There isn’t a lot of spare room so the easiest method was to stand outside the door with a menu and await notification that a table was free. With one vegetarian and one vegan amongst our group we were happy that everyone found something they wanted to eat. In my case I had the smoked salmon on rye. They also had a good selection of cakes for a sweet treat afterwards. Our initial waitress was fairly new and whilst allowances were made, therefore, for her still training she wasn’t the most friendly lady. The service aspect was saved by another lady who it transpired haled from the same town as me in Gloucestershire. We would return if we were back in the area

I really enjoyed visiting here with friends. It's a great, relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious.

We were here for the superbike weekend and wanted somewhere nice to eat. This place did not disappoint, as soon as we walked in the staff were polite and friendly. We ordered starters, mains and desserts which were all delicious! We will certainly be back when we visit for superbikes in the future

Really do love this little site for the pub, the location for walks with our dogs . The pitches are adequate could be abit more level but we’ve always managed , toilets and showers are good they were clean and never too busy . Only one down side which had happened here before is people not keeping their dog on leash when on their pitch ours are always tied up on the pitch and when your sat there with a drink or trying to cook on your bbq and a dog comes over to your pitch and our dogs are getting excited and worked up I find it not acceptable.. we saw dog roaming onto another persons pitch and doing its 💩 albeit the owner did go clean it up but why do they think this is acceptable? why do people think it doesn’t apply to their dogs to be kept on leads ?? .. other than that we love staying here and will be back .. the pub is lovely and it’s beautiful sat out along the canal ..!!

8 of us went for an evening meal. The Maitre D' was very rude and i think his saying is "the customer is always wrong." We asked if we could have seperate bills and he said NO. When he gave me the menu, I asked if there was another as the one on the website was different, again he said NO, the one on the website is out of date. One of our party didn't get their starter until we had to find someone and ask for it. The Main meal was awful, no seasoning or flavour. I must say my desert was nice, We were never asked, at any time if everything was alright. We wondered if we were at Faulty towers. When our bill arrived we again asked if he could bring seperated bills, He said " I've already told you NO. During our meal we could hear the Maitre D' telling 1 of the lovely waitresses off in a very loud agressive manner. He is very rude and a bully. He said he had worked there 23 years. God help them. We will NEVER go there again and will advise others not to.

Could not believe it when I was asked for payment after ordering myself a bacon sandwich and cheese on toast for my partner. Cheese on toast £7.50 Bacon sandwich £7.25 (on a disgusting stale ciabatta that I can only think was previously frozen). I thought this would be the best snacks we had ever eaten after being charged such an extortionate prices. However, they did not even warm the ciabatta (which was stale in any event). VAT is still only 5%, so when it goes back to 20% next year will be an even bigger rip off. The people who own this cafe ought to be ashamed of themselves. I know business have been hit hard with this covid pandemic but everyone is struggling at the moment, its no excuse to blatantly rip people off. Not only was it a rip off price but it was nothing special to boot. Had better in a greasy spoon.

I saw the poor reviews but decided to stay open minded.... well the negative reviews are correct! Paid for a family room with breakfast. Gets down to breakfast there's a cold offering of stale croissants, cereals left in the open air and a hot menu. 80% off choices on the hot menu are an extra £5 per person. I'm pescatarian so had No choice. I ordered something with the £5 supplement and was asked to pay immediately. Totally embarrassing i didn't have my purse i had just woken up. No option to charge to room. Never been to a hotel like it!

Dined here whilst staying at the Potal Hotel which is adjacent, food menu very limited and dishes not well presented as had been before, food quality was good but overall experience not the best, the team who served us was doing there best but they were understaffed and not very well supported . This brand used to offer great value and good food and attentive service in a clean well maintained environment, but not any, ore, very disappointing .
