Wanted to visit for a while. Lovely evening by the canal. Perfect. My wife and I both had Turkey Sunday Roast. Quick service and pleasant staff. Plentiful size servings and food was hot. Potatoes were hard as was the veg. Everything else fine. Was a long journey from the Wirral so probably won't rush back. Sorry.

We arrived at this wonderful place after having a walk along the canal from Tattenhall marina, what an absolute hidden gem. We had drinks and nibbles served by really nice staff. Everything was reasonably priced and we loved sitting out in the beer garden with superb views of the canal and the barges.. Will definitely be returning now that we know about it

Second time visiting lovely setting however prices are steep. Small portions, chicken kiev had hardly any filling the cheese and onion pie was lovely but very small for the price. Childrens play area was handy to keep our toddler entertained, however the outdoor furniture was very tired and let the garden down. The ice cream in a cone was a nice idea but again £5 for one scoop was a lot. We will return but only for a drink as we didn’t think the food was worth the money.

Stopped for lunch. Initially a good impression, compared to recent previous reincarnations the place looks tidy. And the location is, as ever, idyllic. But a little farcical when there are 6 members of staff behind the bar, a queue of 5 customers and only one of the staff members actually serving. A request for gluten free food options was met with a shrug, an explanation they have a gluten free fryer so can do fish and chips and a folder of allergens so comprehensive as to spread over about 30 pages. None of which really helped identify what was ok to eat and wasn’t exactly welcoming. Other places manage to add a discrete “GF” alongside suitable dishes, it isn’t that hard. Biggest positive was for the beer, which was local and in good condition.

Over priced. Substandard food. Too many little dogs barking. NOT accessible friendly, no ramps and steps to get anywhere outside and inside. If we knew (website did not mention it) for safety reasons we wouldn't of booked. And they were understaffed, took forever to get drinks then food, large gaps in-between.

Lovely canal side pub, but not for those with small wallets... The place is beautiful, gorgeous inside and the canal side garden is superb. The meals we had were quality, if a little small for mains, portions of fries, potatoes etc rather on the small side. It's everything a good county pub should be, but like so many remote (ish) country pubs, the drinks prices are way over the top. For example, I paid over £19 for: Double G &T Half pint of real ale And two glasses of coke. That's a lot of money for that round.... But I suppose it's in line with pricing at so many non wetherspoon pubs now. No wonder so many pubs change hands so quickly and so many close, at least temporarily until the next ' give it a try' landlord is found. All in all though, it's a very pleasant place to spend an hour or two, and the staff are extremely helpful.

Was recommended this site for overnight stay in my Vw Camper the site has 24 toilets and showers and Electric hook up . It has a really good pub on site and is next to a canal with great views !!. So why only 3 stars and i wont be back . I stayed last friday 29th march, there were two caravans with families and two Dogs Every time i came out of my van the black labrador would run across the open field barking and being aggressive it was quite scary. The irresponsible owners were saying its only doing what dogs do and its because you are a stranger !!!! So put it on a lead if it cant behave ! it should have be on a lead at all times We couldnt use the facilities as you had to walk past there vans to get to the toilet The pub should make sure that all dogs are on a lead in the camping area its thier site ! i spent over £150 in pub as we had drinks and evening meals plus £25 to stay 1 night It would have been a great find only for the Dogs and very poor owners . which totally ruined the experience i would have given you 1 star only thing that saved it the food was great and the staff very friendly . You really need to make sure Dogs are always on leads in social areas very poor

The accessibility from the car park and inside was extremely bad, thin uneven slope or 3 steep steps and inside more steps and NO disabled toilet (toilets a squeeze and 2 cubicles). No one to greet you. Had to sit elderly lady and stop a member of staff (who seemed to be the only server). Then after the logistical nightmare getting from the carpark and despite noting on the booking 1 disabled guest, we were seated down another step and a surprised none visible slope under the carpet. It was a squeeze to sit down with guests right behind you. We had to stop the waitress again to get drinks and ordered the food because was were already bored. So far no impressed with the customer service and if we knew it was NOT disability friendly we would of gone elsewhere, but this was booked for 2 months. Our starter came with the mains, confused why. We had the roast. Roast potatoes were weird in texture and taste, and only got 5. Yorkshire pudding was half the size of the plate, flat and very crispy on the edges. Cauliflower cheese tasted horrible and the actual cauliflower was too hard to cut, and this was an extra on the order. Beef was watery and gave it away. Veg was mashed carrots, mash and cabbage. No stuffing. This for me was the worst service and roast I've ever experienced. Also felt too warm in there. Had a few small dogs bark occasionally (the larger ones were perfectly behaved) and a poor old completely flat faced pug coughing and could hardly breath. The only good thing was the strawberry Knickerbocker glory, despite the small jar it came in. We had to stop the server again to get the bill. The bill was a shock!! Over £100 for 3 people. And nearly £10 for one double. Over all, don't waste your money or time, and definitely avoid it you have any mobility problems.

Reserved table was dirty (so was the waiter’s clothes) so didn’t expect much in the way of food and we were correct! Roast beef “served pink” came out well done (!!) and the turkey was tasteless and watery. “Selection of vegetables” was a greens medley and watery carrot/swede mash. Roast potatoes tasted fried. Extremely lackluster roast. Not sure what any of it tasted of to be honest. We won’t be returning.

Honestly one of the worst places I’ve eaten in years! Firstly had a plate of food given to me, then taken away as wrong table, no big issue here happens. Then our food came out, wish they hadn’t bothered! There is nothing ‘Epic’ about the Epic Chicken New Yorker… I have attached the photo to showcase just how bad it was. I’m astounded that a chef has taken a look at this and given the green light for it to be served! Cooked within an inch of its life, looked similar to when you forget about something in the oven and end up binning it! Was rock hard, ate less than half. Couldn’t even be bothered complaining as the poor waitress had already had 2 plates of food sent back from tables around us. And look at the state of the seasoned chips with my son’s burger. Literally just dumped a load in the middle of the plate making them inedible… The roasts that had been ordered, completely overdone, needed a steak knife to cut through the meet! About the only thing that was okay was the steak pie, clearly ordered in and not made fresh onsite thank god! Zero pride in what was served, will never eat here again! I’m honestly astounded that these plates found their way out of the kitchen.
