8 of us went for an evening meal. The Maitre D' was very rude and i think his saying is "the customer is always wrong." We asked if we could have seperate bills and he said NO. When he gave me the menu, I asked if there was another as the one on the website was different, again he said NO, the one on the website is out of date. One of our party didn't get their starter until we had to find someone and ask for it. The Main meal was awful, no seasoning or flavour. I must say my desert was nice, We were never asked, at any time if everything was alright. We wondered if we were at Faulty towers. When our bill arrived we again asked if he could bring seperated bills, He said " I've already told you NO. During our meal we could hear the Maitre D' telling 1 of the lovely waitresses off in a very loud agressive manner. He is very rude and a bully. He said he had worked there 23 years. God help them. We will NEVER go there again and will advise others not to.

Possibly the most disgusting meal I have ever eaten. Spinach pancake. I was intrigued what this very outdated dish would be like. Well I wish l had eaten my dinner out of the bin pretty much the same thing possibly be better out of the bin. Please anyone who is thinking of attending willinton Hall for a meal of any sort don't!! turn around and go anywhere else. As for the management well words can't begin to describe how disgusting these apparent people are. I have seen wild animals have better manners.

We visited Willington Hall restaurant for a family Sunday lunch having pre - booked and advised of our dietary requirements - 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian and 1 gluten and dairy intolerant as well as meat eaters. The staff were welcoming on arrival, however there was some uncertainty with regard to the vegetarian and vegan options on the menu - even when the member of staff taking our order had checked with the chef. The options for the gluten and dairy intolerant family member were also not clear. The vegan main course option was a very average plate of pasta with peppers and olives. The nut roast would have been the preferred choice but it was not clear from staff as to whether this was vegan. Willington Hall is under new ownership and hopefully they will realise that there are an increasing number of vegetarians and vegans in the UK and rethink the menu options. Clearer labelling on the menu would also be helpful.

We were her for a wake and I'm not sure whether we were in this restaurant or a function room. There were doors leading out to the garden and great views. All the staff were very efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was absolutely delicious, sandwiches were immaculate. I'd like to visit here again sometime as it's an impressive looking building.

Limited menu should not run out of food and food should be cooked as stated, not overcooked. Service was slow, unhelpful and on two occasions, actually rude. Don't go there.

My wife and I have visited many a restaurant in the area but the Gainsborough has to be one of the most enjoyable that we have experienced in a long time, the service was by far the best we had come across and the food was something else what more can I say other than thank you so much we will return.

The Gainsborough restaurant at Willington Hall was a welcome surprise for us, providing an extremely well-executed meal in very reasonable surroundings with attentive service. The menu was, however, somewhat limited as, despite eating pretty early, one of the main options had already been exhausted.

Excellent meal cooked to perfection in this wonderful country location. The bar in itself was comfortable and inviting with friendly, attentive and proffesional staff. Our view in the Gainsborough Restaurant was wonderful, overlooking the gardens and Welsh hills. As regards the food I decided to have scallops for my starter, which was really tasty. Then onto the main, where we all ate Chateaubriand. It was cooked as requested and was nothing short of tender and wonderful.I don't know how but I made room for dessert- jelly and cream, with a difference.I'll not say more on this than I like my champagne!

As we were staying at Willington Hall we decided to eat in their dining room, The Gainsborough Restaurant. I loved the silk panelled walls and the way the light reflected off the fabric. The room really glowed in the evening sun.My favourite dish was the Braised Pressing of Rabbit. I imagined a bunny shaped pancake, but luckily I got a delicious terrine of loin, leg and wild mushroom, with a shallot puree and toasted croutons. The croutons were very thin slices of continental bread, sautéed in olive oil with salt – yummy! Ta da! Best crouton award! The meal was very enjoyable, in a most lovely setting, which I think really enhanced the dining experience, and it was good value too.My full review, with pictures, is here: http://idontlikepeas.co.uk/dinner-at-the-gainsborough-restaurant-willington-hall/

I had takeaway fish 'n chips from here last night, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything about it was excellent.🙂 Portion size of chips was more than enough & the fish was cooked perfectly lovely and fresh. Top notch & a very decent size fish, too..... I don't often have 'chippy dinners', but I do love the food here, always consistently nice, kebabs are excellent and there is plenty to choose from great variety of food and pretty reasonably priced also. The staff are brilliant and very friendly. Best in the area by a mile !!!! 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Having been for afternoon tea once before, we were looking forward to a quality experience where we could sit outside in the garden and enjoy the ambience. When we arrived we were taken through to the garden room and when we asked if we could sit outside (on a glorious sunny day) were advised that work was being done and it would be noisy and dusty. Someone was stood waiting to take our order the second we were handed the menu for afternoon tea and it felt rushed a disorganised. Our order was taken, and then another staff member came to take it again… before the first staff member came back to take it again! We waiting a long time for a pot of tea to arrive and even longer for the afternoon tea. The food looked lovely on the stand and there was a good selection of flavours. The savoury snacks tasted fresh but the sandwiches were dry and the bread crispy, while the scones had the rubbery feel of having been microwaved. There was no butter with the scones but it came with jam and cream. The small desserts were nice but again a little dry. We ordered cocktails which were nice but the staff did not know what the drinks on the menu were, we asked for a long cocktail and got rocket fuel. The wait for the bill was ridiculous, well over half an hour and nobody came over to check we were happy with the food / drinks. When we went to the bar to ask for the bill, the team leader (who was lovely) came over and did apologise and take off the automatic service charge from the bill, but it still felt like a huge letdown after previous experiences. The staff were clearly new and inexperienced, with some just staring into space at times. There didn’t appear to be a teamwork dynamic and it led to poor service. I have sent a message to Oddfellows as I do not like to post negative reviews, but they have not replied so here we are.
