Nestling atop the seafront cliffs in the Spa Gardens is this delightful victorian building that now accommodates a cafe/bistro at ground level. You can sit inside or out, although the outdoor seating would benefit from an upgrade. The small menu is perfectly formed, although much to my dismay breakfast was unavailable from 1130 - why places do this, I have no idea. Rather fine cheese scones and other baked items are available along with good coffees and a range of teas The young staff team did a great job and the place is clean and tidy and is a great place to rest after a long walk through the much improved gardens. I'll certainly return!

Seemless booking of a table for 6 in the restaurant for Sunday lunch . The staff who served our table were polite and courteous ( Mille amd Tom ) . Ruby the manager ensured that our table was ok . Customer service is of utmost importance and this was certainly shown off to its fullest potential . Well done we will be returning for your superb roasts again soon .

The cafe was very clean, light and airy. One of the three waitresses was very friendly and helpful, but the other two were miserable and did not seem to know what they were doing. The food was piping hot and very tasty, but the dishes were obviously re heated as Lasagne is not normally chewy and nor are jacket potatoes. The portions were small, considering they charge the same prices as Bencotto. On the whole it was okay, but if I am paying £46 for two courses for two people at lunchtime, I expect perfection. There is no point in complaining to a waitress who seems disinterested, so we will vote with our feet and not return, sadly.

We are regular visitors to Felixstowe, most of our stays being in a camper van. The last few times we have stayed at another hotel on the beach front (choose that one if you can), sadly they had no rooms spare this time so we stayed at theOrwell. The building itself is very nice looking, and at first glance, our room was quite quaint looking. However... It was very warm in there, and it has NO air conditioning. You can open the window, but being on a main road roundabout the traffic noise can be an annoyance. The walls are paper thin, and they dont hold back any noise from the room to the right or the bathroom to the left... we could hear everything. The doors dont soft close anywhere, and all seem to slam very loudly with no soft close. The sink plug was blocked when we got there, i told reception and was told they would have to sort it tomorrow... so i ended up fixing it myself. The drain has been siliconed in and said silicone is starting to go mouldy. The shower is pointless (you have to run around to get wet), and the shower head looks to have missed its regular maintenance schedule... as did the extraction fan. The bed was really hard, which i found okay, but my wife had to take some painkillers during the night to help her sleep... the pillows are quite hard, too. All in all... for the money it costs a night, we were very disappointed. As it stands now, we won't be staying here again, i'd rather go to the Premier Inn.

This is a small wooden building, with lots of additional outside seating if the weather is suitable. Great breakfasts, sandwiches and some really great fish and chips at good prices. We had the fish - very fresh- and saw people with really great looking breakfasts! We found it to be a simple, clean, friendly establishment serving nicely prepared and cooked food at reasonable prices, they will even do a takeaway. All that, with stunning views over the Deben a big plus.. There is a large ( pay) car park just metres away and a shop almost opposite ( James Hunt) selling a great selection of fresh fish. Definitely a place to visit.

Called in for a meal here on a week night. We were told to book, but really didn't need to as there were only 6 other people in at the time we were there. The food was excellent, as was the service, but the room we ate in was very tired and in need of refurbishment. That said, we would return for the good food.

Visited today with my husband for two vegan hotdogs. Waited 30 minutes and went to counter to see if we had been forgotten, was told with no apology they had some big orders. 15 minutes later our food arrived with an apology about the wait. My husbands order was in correct, they took it away and corrected the order but his hotdog was cold when it was returned. When we went to pay we offered feedback as none was asked for and the response was that there was only two of them working and they were busy. No discount offered or compensatory cake or such. It cost £22 for a thoroughly poor experience.

Very nice meal, polite staff well worth a visit. Its nice to visit in the summer as you can go for a walk along the sea front before heading over there for a sit down meal but it does get busy and they do allow dogs.
