Well situated at the top of the town. The room was ok for the price paid, but the hotel is in need of some refurbishment as it's a bit tired. The staff were pleasant but a bit thin on the ground at times.

It's a bit dated in parts but clean and well maintained, comfy bed and decent buffet breakfast. Would've been 5 stars given the price BUT my shower was a dribble and no ventilation in my room on hottest night of year

Lovely victorian hotel, loved the interior design of the room. But there werent any amenities in the room, just soap and toilet paper. Room service didnt change the bed sheets. There were only 3 towels (2 bath towels, 1 face towel) for a double room and when room service exchanged the towels they only returned 2 bath towels. When i called reception requesting tissue paper nobody brought any. There isnt much variety for breakfast and only 1 person taking the room numbers, cleaning the tables, and in charge of the refills, which caused some delays refilling multiple items on the buffet. Staff was quick to react once notified There was a fly in the orange juice but staff reacted professionally once notified

Convenient location is the only benefit to this hotel. Has a car park. Rooms have not been modernised since the 70s and are in a disgusting state of repair. Bird poo on the net curtains, sticky floors in the bathrooms and riddled with black spot mould and generally in poor state of repair. One plug in the room. Thread bare carpet. Sound from the downstairs party until midnight. Breakfast was chaos with two young people trying their best to serve everyone with zero management or support. I felt very sorry for them. The buffet was empty, and if food was available it was shrivelled and dry, no plates, no cups, no food. And questionable hygiene. Our car also got scratched/keyed in the car park overnight. Overall I would suggest staying elsewhere if you can.

The hotel is very well situated for walking into town or down to the seafront. There is a large car park .The downstairs of the hotel is very nice ,lovely chandeliers. The bedroom we had was a twin room and walking in it was very disappointing. The furniture was all very dated , the bathroom also very dated but It was nice and clean. One of the beds particularly was so noisy each time you moved in bed. The room had a kettle and there was plenty of tea bags ,coffee ,and sugars

My family and I had a delicious lunch at The Orwell Hotel today. The fish and chips were lovely and perfectly cooked, and the portion sizes were really generous. When the two waitresses found out it was my sister's birthday they surprised her with a chocolate birthday cake and candle! She was delighted. Thank you so much for a special occasion.

We host a monthly business event there. Staff are always lovely and happy to help. The food served is good quality as well. Lots of parking. Would definitely recommend to host an event or stay. Just held my daughters birthday party here. Once again the staff were amazing. They made our girls day so special.

This company do not pay their bills. I am a local supplier and from when they bought this hotel they placed orders but refused to pay. They have stolen thousands off me, so they will get a one star review every day as they deserve to know that their behaviour is unacceptable

Visited for lunch and was very impressed. Lovely old building, plenty of character. Had fish and chips and it was delicious and a very generous portion. A special mention to the staff , everyone we encountered was excellent and couldn’t have been more helpful. Only minus point was a lack of drink options as lots were out of stock , but I’d still definitely recommend a visit.

If you want quaint and historic, this is OK. If you want modern with air conditioning, forget it. The location is great for the town centre. However the place smells and looks like an old people's home and my room was very dated ... but quaint! They only provided the smallest possible piece of soap, really, how expensive is it to provide a reasonable bar of soap?! See pic. Easy free parking is a bonus. The bar staff were SO friendly, made me feel so welcome, we chatted for ages. Breakfast was good but the breakfast server wasn't too friendly and the room lacked ambiance ... please put some music on because breakfast was like a silent morgue where I could hear everyone else chomping and slurping. I would stay again for the convenience to town but it was like a 1970s guest house really. See pics.

Awful if your doing night work housekeeping are loud have little to no respect of guest knock the door loudly as they and talk as loudly as possible tell them your in bed come in your room whilst you’re trying to sleep. Curtains are the worst see photo absolutely no way they keep out the daylight all in all I hope I don’t have to stay here again

We went for afternoon tea, it was a lovely atmosphere, beautifully decorated. Hot chocolate and cake was okay but the sea front definitely has more options! A big issue was that it wasn’t very disability friendly with unclear signage at the entrance and no disabled toilets

We would like to say a massive thank you! We held our wedding at the Orwell hotel, The staff were incredible and went above and beyond to ensure our day was amazing! We stayed in the Deben suite which was clean and tidy, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even breakfast in bed! The food was amazing, all our wedding guests were very impressed with all of the food. Thank you again and we will be back for Sunday lunch and any future events we may have.

Sunday roast was the best we have had for a long time. Rooms pleasant if a little tired carpets and furniture but very comfortable. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, last minute getaway for a couple of days and not been to Felixstowe before would come back.

Poor decor and cleanliness of rooms, shower was awful no pressure or proper temperature control, boiling hot then cold then boiling hot again. Attempted on several occasions to order room service no answer from reception. Funny smell in lobby and I was only greeted by any staff once and that was at check in otherwise ignored.

Just returned from the Orwell Hotel and have been there many times before. Always enjoy it especially the food NOT THIS TIME. It was awful. We booked the suit which was drab and really old fashioned. We booked for valentine's thinking we would have a lovely meal that night and as the first night was so bad, didn't even have the dinning open we cancelled our dinner for valentine's.As for breakfast it was dreadful. After going there every year we are never going back. So sad as no one wanted to know when we complained.

Most recent owners of this hotel are absolute crooks- Mr Zishan Zaman and family. Has a history of running hotels into the ground if you do a little digging. Owes thousands to suppliers and it is 50/50 on whether staff get paid at months' end. Severely outdated, ratty and dingy rooms, lacking in basic maintenance. Rip-off sub-par food with very questionable hygiene. Staff under-trained and clueless. Not to mention the general manager who is basically unqualified. Take your business elsewhere- unless you like funding criminals.

Great value for room. Last minute vacation and glad we went. Nice location to Felixstowe and local attractions such as Sutton Hoo. Slight concern with the shower being Hot/cold/Hot. Wakes you up. Nice food and helpfull staff. The alarm went off, and the staff seemed confused as to what to do. As a fire officer, I would update the protocol and staff training.

Stayed here for the Easter Break from good Friday till the Monday. Such a lovely feel to this hotel. The food on Saturday evening was to die for we had our friends join us and all had Beef Wellington and all agreed the best one we have ever had ! Second time staying at this hotel and would definitely go back as staff and management are lovely.

Ver disappointed. Two young girls on duty who were indifferent to our questions. We sat down and neither came to ask if we needed drinks before ordering. There was only one other family in the restaurant. Left without ordering. Have been before with better results but not happy with the lack of service.

We took advantage of an unexpectedly sunny Sunday to take a friend in a wheelchair for a stroll on the prom and brunch at the Alex — where we knew there was an accessible loo, should it be needed. Our order included a vegan breakfast, muffin and poached eggs and smoked haddock fishcakes, plus cake. All were good, fresh and well-cooked. Hats off to the chef who perfectly poached those eggs. The staff were friendly and professional and went out of their way to help us with wheelchair manoeuvring. The place feels well-run.
