I visited here earlier in the year and visited again today ( New Years Eve ) This is a lovely cafe. The coffee is good. I wanted a light lunch and had a mildly spiced chicken and mozzarella roll. The roll had a crispy sesame seed topping. It was served with a small side salad. My partner had a plain chicken and cheddar roll which was nice. It had carrot cake as well I noticed. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing place for food and the atmosphere. We did the tapas option and was not disappointed. We chose a few dishes each and the portion sizes are big. All the food was delivered when ready and was delicious. Would highly recommend and will definitely come here again next time I'm in old time.

We were very lucky to get a table here for brunch. One full English breakfast, one wrap , one mushrooms on the best toast. Juices and milk, fresh orange juice was lovely. Lots of staff V busy place Will return !

I was looking for somewhere to have lunch whilst in Stevenage and had given up hope of finding anywhere half decent and then I spotted Chateau Cafe. It was not very busy but staff were friendly and welcoming. A nice menu with lots of things on sourdough toast such as poached eggs, eggs benedict, eggs royale, all day breakfast. Good selection on menu. I opted for the sourdough toast with smashed avocado, poached eggs and bacon. Food arrived promptly and nicely presented. There was some salad with balsamic dressing with the food. The poached eggs were done to perfection, nice and runny, just as I like them. This was a lovely lunch and an unexpected find. Would go back and recommend. An unexpected gem in what was a depressing selection of places to eat other than the chain coffee shops

I booked on line which was nice and easy. I have some food allergies so did my research on line before we went. Glad I did. At no point through the meal did they ask if we had any allergies. I did try to make them aware of them but u felt completely dismissed. That isn't to say they didn't listen. They took the order and left off what I'd asked but it wasn't the attentiveness that I had at other restaurants. Bringing over the dips they didn't state if I could eat them or not. There wasn't an option to find out what was in food. My advice, the food is delish and the service a little over the top. However, any allergies do you research before you go and enquire before hand because they don't have time on the night

Ordered cod roe chips and a battered sausage which was enemic batter was under cooked. Cod Roe was soggy under cooked and an inedible mess. Chips were obviously pre cooked and reheated . Won't be visiting this chippy again . Poplars is much better quality all round. (Picture proof attached)
