When we ordered our starters the traditional bread came up with the dips also they bought up three dishes of olives which I asked about and no one ordered them so they just stayed on the table. When we received the bill they charged around £20 for the olives. They just ignored our complaint. If that’s the way they run a business. Never eat there again Don’t like being ripped off.

Looked inviting from the outside so decided to give this establishment a try. Spotless interior , big menu with many tempting options. Our coffee was spot on , just how we like it "proper coffee." Wifey had bacon, brie and cranberry panini which she said was delicious. Myself chicken , bacon and pesto sandwich with granary bread. Thick slices of gorgeous bread with a well packed filling , it was very satisfying. Very good service and highly recommend.

Chicken Tikka Dansak was too tomatoey and watery with very little flavour. Pashwani Naan was burnt. Onion Bhaji was cold. Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi was dry with no flavour and the sauce was thin as if watered down. Pileau rice was cold. Paneer Shaslick was bland and had absolutely no flavour at all. Bombay Potato was as bland as boiled potatoes in Pasata. The Lime Pickle was just a raw onion salad. The Mango Chutney was goopy jam. To add insult to injury the price was about £8 a head more expensive than other takeaways. When I queried this the man taking our order said it was because they were the best Indian in the Maldon District!!! The irony has not been lost on us. Afterwards, none of us felt like we'd even had an Indian but a bland, lukewarm English dinner. On the plus side, the delivery man was on time and very polite.

I don't normally write reviews but I’ve got to say this, the whole concept work on so many levels. , very authentic and tastes delicious Amazing food, the flavours were the best fresh ingredients are used and you can tell a lot of pride and passion has gone into each dish Pretty impressed I'd recommend THE RAJ at Maldon to anyone to try, you will not be disappointed or hungry!!! One of the curry and all sort of Indian food I’ve ever tasted . My whole family and I love their food and we’ve been a customers for many years as well as most of my mate . Just to mention that all food are cooked freshly by a decent respectful family as they do cook from heart. You feel like you eat at home and what a great amazing customer service if I could give more that five stars trust me I would . We had a table for 8 on a Friday night the atmosphere was awful we didn’t get asked if we wanted a drink for 20mins and had to ask. The food was not all good and the service was terrible. Hate to think what it would be like if they were busy as the tables were empty. Will not go here again.

I took some of my family to the restaurant in Maldon, Essex, on Sunday 21st January 2024, at lunchtime. Whilst I have no complaints about the food, I was disappointed that a number of basic ingredients were not available, and the server had to check that there was even some basic coffee available. Bearing in mind it was lunchtime, I was surprised that basic ingredients were not available. I have since herd that this restaurant has a bad reputation, which accounts for the fact that there were only two other people in the restaurant at lunchtime.
