I took some of my family to the restaurant in Maldon, Essex, on Sunday 21st January 2024, at lunchtime. Whilst I have no complaints about the food, I was disappointed that a number of basic ingredients were not available, and the server had to check that there was even some basic coffee available. Bearing in mind it was lunchtime, I was surprised that basic ingredients were not available. I have since herd that this restaurant has a bad reputation, which accounts for the fact that there were only two other people in the restaurant at lunchtime.

I wouldn't recommend any place that literally has the lowest possible food hygiene ratings possible. These are handed out by the food standards agency, so when they give out a 1 star for having out of date food, then imagine how bad the food is that went out before this!

Incredible service when dined in and order the burger, by far the best in Maldon! So fresh and tasty highly recommend. Even more so when I ordered pizza for delivery was always fast, fresh and steaming hot! On top of that very nice and polite people giving me the service on delivery. If haven’t tried yet… your missing out!

Nice restaurant with friendly staff and good quality pizza, would recommend over dominoes papa johns etc. good place to take the family and for delivery.

I have recently visited Dough&Co Maldon restaurant. The authentic Italian wood fired pizza was delicious. The service and restaurant staff were amazing, helpful and polite. We have enjoyed our evening at this place and would definitely recommend and come back soon.

Lovely little restaurant. We all agreed that this was the best pizza that we had ever eaten and we eat a LOT of pizza. Very friendly service. Recommend the fried sugared dough, was delish 😋. Will definitely be back again.

Ordered a takeaway. After 25 minutes they called us to tell us they couldn't deliver. Don't offer a service you can't complete.

A lovely Authentic pizzeria , the waitress was friendly and welcoming, the pizzas were amazing, the restaurant is rather small which added to its cozy charm but better to book in advance to get a table,would definitely go back again , also good price on kids pizzas £6 which they list as mini however good size and filled my teenage up .

Second time I’ve had a pizza from here, first was a takeaway and second was a sit down meal last night. The pizza bases are top quality and probably the best I’ve had. The service was great too and they were really accommodating when I asked them to create a very hot version of their “Vegetarian One” - it was excellent (you should add this version to the menu!!).

Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and wonderful staff. Highly recommend it. We will be back soon.

Ordered a take away, arrived 45 minutes later than the expected delivery time. When arrived, the food was stone cold, so had to put in the oven to heat up. Was also missing one of the dips that we had ordered and one of the pizzas was also missing one of the toppings that we had added. So a disappointing experience considering how expensive it was too, was hoping for a bit better service. If food was hot, delivered on time and didn’t have items missing then would have been great.

Such a lovely pizza and happy guy delivered to us in pouring rain. He got a good tip!! Would recommend and definitely use again 😋

Ordered a take away, we received the wrong order. Then tried to call and no answer. This company clearly do not care about customer service I would reccoment not using them. Service was awful.

Came here yesterday night with my boyfriend about 20 minutes before closing, felt bad coming in so late but they were still so welcoming, the burger we have ordered was amazing and I definitely recommend! Been here once before and everything is still brilliant, the quality, the atmosphere and the waitress was fantastic!

Had a date night here with my fiancé and it was amazing. The food was so delicious, the atmosphere was so lovely and the staff were amazing and very kind. Will definitely be coming back. 😊

We had dinner here as a family tonight and I could not fault the food , the service or the atmosphere. Im blown away , the food melted in your mouth and was so unbelievably tasty, it was complete heaven ! We had a mixture of pasta ,pizza , dessert and cocktails 🍸. The best fresh food and service I've had in a restaurant in a very long time with a personal feel unlike the big chains. I highly recommend a visit to a fantastic business that sells fresh, quality tasty food at a amazing price and top class service 👌🍸

Food was amazing, both pizzas were devoured quickly, great veggie options alongside meaty ones, pizzas could have been a little hotter, but they tasted fantastic. A little disappointed with the beer choices, especially with so many local breweries in this part of Essex.

Whilst a few days walking around the Maldon area came across Dough&Co which was highly recommended by a local. Not being a great fan of pizza I decided to try it out after a hard days walk along The Saltmarsh Trail and was now hungry and getting late. Ordered to Go. Service was very friendly and didn’t have to wait too long. (Listening to the live music from the pub next door and an older generation of people dancing. Such a lovely vibe). Any rate, there was an impressive oven on show which looked the business. Quite expensive I thought as it was just for me and their regular size. Well…..it was one of the best I’d ever had. My choice of toppings was just right. Would highly recommend if in the area.

Absolutely beautiful food. Will 100% be back.

In Maldon from out of town, a quick search on google for an Italian restaurant nearby found us Dough&Co. It had a couple of recent questionable reviews but decided to take a punt. The food and service was great, the kids loved it! Got to chatting with the manager and it’s all new staff (I can only assume in response to said recent reviews?). So I can’t vouch for what Dough&Co have been like recently but I can’t knock the food, service or cleanliness based on our visit last night. It only lost a point on Atmosphere because we were the only people in there, I hope that changes for them soon..😊

I am actually not pizza lover but this one firewooden is absolutely different than I aet usually. Very carefully selected additives create an aromatic scent and also taste very good. You should come and try and I am sure you will comeback again a specially if you like pizza at all.

When this place opened I loved the place. Great food, service wasn’t great but it new. Well now it’s gone down hill fast, trainee tonight serving us who needed help (nothing against her) starters came out with the mains and one starter after. Two burgers were made with ropey meat, the Brie was off. They didn’t have some chunky chips we ordered as not on the menu and was given well done fries only for the chef to shout some rude comments about the chips and menu.The garlic bread with cheese was a let down too! Cover the bread… the kitchen floor we could see and was so dirty. The place was dead but lots of phone orders so waited ages for more service, they over charged us. The manager was rude to my partner too. Her first night too. Seems staff are leaving for a reason. Best to avoid this place. Sorry but time someone sorted out the staff and managed the place properly.

Where to start? I guess the first clue is in the name- Wood fired Pizza Oven, which it is not! its all gas no wood to be seen not even wood chip. Service- not great at all the waitress tried but dont think she has much experience, whilst the other manager looking chap seemed to be concentrating only on his phone and takeaways oblivious of what else was going on and delibratly ignoring it for some reason. The food....- I ordered a Pepperoni and it was cold in the middle. I sent it back and watched as the inexperienced Pizza chef simply took the partialy eaten pizza and held it up to the flames for about 10 seconds then slopped it out again. It then sat on the pass whilst the two waiters (mentioned above) simply saw it and ignored it?. I watched other tables food sitting on the pass seemingly to be ignored. Zero communication between the waiters and the pizza maker..I ate another few slices but it was still tepid and soggy. Pizzas arent that difficult to make and I am no expert but a tip for the pizza man ..-they should stay in the oven until the middle is bubbling, then you know its cooked. Personally I would have thought it was etiquete to make a new one because lets face it it should take 90 seconds if the oven is at the right temp. The side salad was passable. Wine range terrible, basically red or white. We asked for tap water and told they were waiting for the dishwasher to finish but that never arrived. Went home hungry. I feel sorry for the people getting takeaways as they are probably worse and too late to complain or organise something else, but presume most go in the bin. Atmosphere... shabby interior refit, I would recommend to the owners if you are going to have an open plan kitchen viewing then the stuff going on behind should be professional. If not close the kitchen so people cant see in! Awful, I wouldnt recommend at all, and suspect it wont be open for long All very disappointing and I dont post reviews alot, but save your money and vote with your feet and wait and go elsewhere like Salt or Luigis which are very good

First and last time ordering. Pizza cold chips cold pasta was only thing hot ordered 750ml bottle of water received 330ml bottle. Order time was 1hour for collection when arrived 3 staff and 0 customers so why there was an hour is beyond me! Got told was going to be extra 5min wait for the pasta as it wasn’t ready that’s why the rest of the food was cold! Phoned the shop before leaving to check if order was ready no answer.

Disappointingly every time we have ordered with this restaurant the food has been cold, the order has been wrong, which has culminated in this evening our food never arrived. They said the driver knocked on our door - Ring Doorbell can show it’s not true - said they rung us - they didn’t - said that the road is closed to our address - it’s not - just repeated lies over and over and no apology at any point - oh and I’d rung twice to chase first time food was an hour late, second food was an hour and forty mins. Seriously have no idea how this restaurant will keep going with such poor service and shoddy food.

Too much Tom sauce on pizza and not particularly good . The burger bun was over toasted and the beef patty was tough and very dry .service was not up to other reviews .the fries however were lovely tasty and crisp . Shame other food not up to scratch !

Ordered takeaway, couldn’t done it through the website, called site guy picked up and he helped us to sort it out, also recommended the couple nights out deal, was amazing!!! Definitely good choice and helpful team !

Went here on a Friday, had a buy a gift voucher to redeem. Got there and the manager refused our voucher and said that the shop hasn’t had the account set up yet to take the voucher, we left and called Halstead dough and co, the women was lovely and helpful. On the way to halstead she called me back and told us that we could go to the Maldon branch and use the voucher we had. We went back and the manager wasn’t very welcoming we told him about what the women said over the phone and he replied with “ apparently so”. We were sat down and a lovely lady took our order, she was very helpful and lovely unlike the manager. We ordered our starters and mains and when they came out we we’re missing the veg, rocket and onion from our pizzas, to add on that they didn’t have the banana, fudge and cream from are dessert’s, wouldn’t got to this branch again !!!

Had a lovely meal out here, expected cheap and cheerful from the marketing but pizza is absolutely excellent and it has much more of a restaurant feel. Really good value on their “night out” deal savers. Highly recommend.

We got a takeaway from there and it was delicious !! Had an enormous pizza and a whole garlic bread pizza too plus drinks as part of a deal :) would deffo recommend it was really tasty xx

3 of us visited here on Monday after hearing positive things and we thought it was great! We had a variety of pizza & pasta dishes as well as garlic bread and thought they were all lovely. Food came quickly and was full of flavour, staff were attentive and overall the atmosphere was good. Prices were as expected and we would definitely eat in here again (or get takeaway!). Pictured dish is 'The tomato one' - which was lovely vegan dish perfect for those wanting a non-meat meal.

Just to break it down quickly: -Atmosphere- no music & very basic decoration, looks like a quick turn around to get it open -Service- slow and not very attentive. Slow to take a drinks order, no one came to see if we enjoyed the food, all the staff with the exception of one left the restaurant for a smoke break and when they popped back in again you could smell that -Food- the pizzas were nice enough, over priced for the setting and service. Good choices but lacking in obvious gluten free & vegan symbols next to those options and not sure if certain sides or dips have that option. - a word on hygiene, we had dirty glasses and saw the chef eating and checking his phone with bare hands and then handling pizzas for customers

Amazing fresh tasty food. Arrived nice and hot. My group ordered burgers, pizza and pasta. We were all extremely impressed and will be ordering again soon

Took over an hour and a half to be delivered. For the price it is, it defiantly was not worth the money, was Cold and the chips were soggy. Will not be ordering again

Waste of time only been open days and already its rating is falling ! Tried to order a meal for one on line online, had to select more than £25 to be able to get delivery. Even though my order totalled £27 it wouldn’t accept my order. I tried calling to speak to a human but although phone was picked up there was nobody the other end. Wasted 20 minutes guess the staff were too busy staring at their mobile phones as previous review. Did subsequently receive an apology and a voucher from the operations manager but would rather just had good service on the day. Incidentally the food was the best Pizza I’ve had outside of Italy.

Brilliant pizza, got it delivered in. The dough was perfectly cooked and the toppings were really good quality. Usually I’m not keen on mushroom pizza but these guys cook them perfectly so they aren’t soggy like you get in other places. Enjoyed the pepperoni and the fishy one. Definitely will be ordering again. The beers are pretty good too!

Staff need training… very cold and considering we were one of the only two tables in the restaurant, you’d think customer service skills would be better instead of staff stood on their phones.. keep clear of pasta… pizza was good

Ordered for delivery, came really quickly considering the time on a Friday night we ordered (and we are in Danbury). Lots of options to choose from and our food was all extremely nice - really high quality, cooked perfectly and tasted great. We chose one of the deals options, 2 pizzas, a side, 2 dips and a bottle of wine. Plenty for two people! Would 100% order from here again.

Ahhh best pizza I've had in Maldon by a country mile, and theyve only been open a day or two, I ordered the £19 meal for one deal, and the "Spanish one" as main, the dough is so fresh and tasty, prawns mozzarella really good quality tasty ingredients, highly recommend their blue cheese dip, very tasty again, made fresh, not a pre packaged sauce pot. The meal deal came wirh a drink and dessert, I'm not a massive fan of sweet things as prefer savoury but I'm not ashamed to admit I ate the entire bowl of caramel covered donuts, again the dough so soft light and tasty. Definitely my go to pizza place in Maldon now. The restaurant was busy last night when i collected , and has been done extremely well, warm, inviting with a very nice atmosphere and always nice to be able to see the chefs cooking your food. Next time I'll go for a sit down meal. I really hope the dough and co team/owners do well as they've put a lot of effort in with the restaurant and the food is fantastic. Thank you guys. Good work
