Maki Fish & Grill in Maldon

Called them this evening to ask when their last delivery orders would be. The person who answered the phone said 11pm. Took them at face value so waited until later to order… only for them to be closed at 10. Even the website says 11. Disappointing as their food and fish is generally excellent. Lost a repeat customer here I’m afraid.

Smash burger and chicken shish kebab, outstanding, not only was it one of best burgers I've ever had delivered it was one of the best burgers Ive ever had full stop! Zero grease, just a great juicy burger! Kebab bread is a artizan middle Eastern style bread which was absolutely delicious. Excellent food, quick delivery, user friendly app which was £8 cheaper than just eat, highly recommend 👌

Food is high standard, and great customer service I ask for extra red cabbage and they always send extra free of charge 10/10

Lovely food, the burger I had was filled with lots of lovely salad, it was yummy..The chips are tasty and not greasy at all.. All hot and fresh.. Will order again, definitely

The food was awful. One burger bun was dehydrated and hard and also didn’t include all the ingredients we request for example cheese. Then the other was missing ingredients. The chips were cold. really disappointed

Only think they were left overs and fried again with fresh ones, very greasy! Chicken shish was ok but didnt have much flavour tonight. Not so sure I will be ordering again 😏

Absolutely dewicious. They separate the meat, bread, salad and sauce which I highly appreciate as it means you construct your kebab at home, avoiding a sloppy mess. The chips were 10/10, stilll cwrispy after a 10 minute walk home. Spectacular give me 14 of them right now!

Wow how times change , wrong address yet, they have delivered to me before , cold food , 3 people to sort it out , ruined my birthday take out, I won't be back!!! you went from the best too the worst over night. Worst kebab ever it was cold and horrid awful not what I've come to expect from you .

Bring back the old Maki. They started great when they first opened, but now… Shocking to be honest. Dry Kofte, Fatty Lamb Shish, and much reduced portion size. It seems they’ve taken cost cutting to a whole new level, and because of this the food quality has suffered. We won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend you go there either. Literally anywhere else is better than here. Your call, but don’t say we didn’t warn you… May seem dramatic, but £40 for what we received was pretty shocking

Possibly the nicest fish and chips that I can remember. I ordered 2 large cod and 1 large chips. The large cod was indeed large, the batter excellent and not at all greasy. I liked that the skin was removed from the fish before frying and the fish itself was fresh. The chips non greasy and tasty. Cost wise pretty expensive possibly £2-£4 over what I would expect to pay. Service was polite and waiting time reasonable for freshly cooked food. The premises are spotless and the menu selection varied including burgers,kebab's etc.

Cod was over cooked and brown and dry, barely edible and the dog got most. Order delivered in two minutes so obviously has been kept hot and not fresh cooked. Cost's so much, it's a treat these days. Waste of money. Very disappointing

my daughter ordered us a takeaway from here tonight. took over an hour and food was just about warm. I've ordered from here before and it was great. Will not order again and definitely won't use Just Eat again.

A really good place to go for takeaway fish and chips, burgers and kebabs. I had a chicken shish kebab and it was one of the best I've had - really fresh salad, a good amount of chicken which was really tasty, and unusually (at least for me) the kebab came with a focaccia bread roll and plenty of rice. My daughter had the children's sausage meal and thoroughly enjoyed it (it was a very healthy size so I helped her with the chips) and my other half had a hamburger which was the most basic burger option on the menu, but still plenty big enough and really tasty. Maki Fish and Grill was a very lucky find when we needed some supper while out for the day and next time we're in the area I will very much look forward to ordering another meal.

Honestly a great place. The staff treat you how you treat them and the food is just amazing. We have had delivery's and we have collected without any issues. We have had everything from fish and chips to kebabs from here and we have always been so happy with the staff and the food has never let us down even with them making us have high expectations of their food.

Asked if they did gluten free. Was quite rude and just looked at me like I was an alien. Friendly frier is better

Ordered off Uber eats and within half hr got my chicken fillet burger. Was tender, juicy and hot! The packaging is all cardboard which I rate as hate throwing away loads of plastic. Driver was really friendly! Defo order again!

Beautiful piece of Cod n Chips. The batter was thin and crispy with a good bit of crunch. Not soggy at all and the fish was moist and tasty.

All around Amazing place !!!! it was a Saturday evening and no one wanted to cook Or go pick up takeout, so we decided to try Maki for our first time and for once all 5 of us were happy with our order ! My nephew and I had the smash burger which was one of the best cheeseburgers I have ever had and I am from the USA saying that! The others had fish & chips and reported that it was the best they have had in the Maldon area in the 20 plus years of living here ! I also tried the buffalo wings and those too were delicious & loaded with meat on them ! Extra bonus was that The delivery came very fast as well and on top of it our driver was a very nice guy.( by the way don’t forget to tip your drivers ) This place seems to be on their game with their prompt service , high quality food and we all were very pleased so it’s our new favorite take out / delivery spot in town ! Our only complaint was that when we called to order , we had to go sign up for an online account because to go orders are online only , which was kind of a pain, but it was so worth it in the long run!!

Tried to order online as this is the only option, the website for the third time kept throwing me out, after 30 minutes finally placed an order, when we collected I tried to advise the team that the website was not working properly, they openly laughed at me!! On getting the food home it was soggy and un edible. We have been loyal customers since they opened despite them being over priced. But tonight was the final straw

My partner and I used uber eats to oder the food my halloumi wrap was amazing, cooked perfectly. My partner had the smash burger, only issue was you had to add note to item to remove salad and not the option to remove, like how McDonald's have

Went here yesterday and arrived just before opening time, placed my order and was told it would be freshly cooked so i went off for 20 minutes. Upon my return there was a lovely posh bag all packed up with my order ready to rumble and piping hot 🔥 took it over to the park with my mum and my toddler. Massive piles of lovely crispy fresh tasting chips, 2 MASSIVE cods, beautiful firm meaty flakes that melted in the mouth. (Dont know what you do to the batter guys but its so tasty and crispy and delicious) just wish i couldve finished it all but i couldnt. Toddler loved it too so win win. Definitely the best fish and chips ive tasted in years, made my day out in maldon 👍

I would feel offended if I was homeless and eating this food. I feel utterly appalled and used. I will not be coming here again, the food once was of a decent standard but has considerably dropped. The food tasted like hospital food, bland, dry and cheap. I tried to call the restaurant with no answer, poor. I called again and was met by what sounded like jabba the hutt on the other end of the phone, zero professionalism and zero manners. Do better. Please avoid this place at all costs. Please also work on your customer service skills.

Order number - 40556693 Phoned to give feedback that the food was not up to it’s normal standards and we were disappointed as it was cold, soggy and had a strange chemical taste. To which we received a delightful phone call from the owner, who laughed down the phone and told us we would get a refund if the driver picked up the food for them to examine, and if she deemed there to be an issue, she would refund us. A little strange if you ask me, as the owner isn’t going to admit to their food tasting horrible. She was argumentative, hostile, aggressive and totally unpleasant. Won’t be going back. Keep our £30, you obviously need it more.

Very nice food and sunny Sunday atmosphere here. Really competently run as well with service and a smile despite being quite busy.

Probably the best take away in the area, burgers and wraps are unreal!! Only slight criticism I have is I would rather the choice of skinny or smaller chips as chip shop ones don’t really do it for me with a kebab or burger. But highly recommend and will definitely be using again.

Lively and popular on a sunny Sunday evening. People were happily waiting outside for food, and the queue was short. Our order was taken quickly and the food was prepared in a short amount of time. My chicken Maki Shish was fantastic, really tasty and filling. There was no need for a portion of chips with it. The chips were very good quality and well cooked all the same. It's in a Perfect location if you are enjoying some time in Promonade Park, just across the road from the top corner carpark and Maldon Museum.

Shame this place’s quality has gone down immensely since it first opened. Last few orders we have had from there the chips have been hard and had a funny taste the pie had been microwaved so was chewy. Such a shame because when this first opened it was the best in Maldon imo but it’s standards have slipped badly.

The best takeaway shop I have ever eaten from!!!!! The food is spectacular and the customer service is excellent. The smash burger is out of this world, the flavours and seasoning is perfect the wings are massive and packed with flavour. If i could eat everything from their menu I would. Highly recommend you wont be disappointed!

Awful! On a Tuesday night, food took an hour and a half to come and then the driver dropped some all over the driveway and claimed we had another 10 minute delay! I can acknowledge mistakes happen to the best of us but there was no apology, no offer to clear it up. Told the driver to not bother and take it back. Called up the restaurant to be met with disgusting customer service who didn't want to acknowledge the problem. Had ordered £100 worth of food and honestly the way they spoke on the phone, doesn't sound like they need the money or customers. I would not waste your time.

Have always ordered from Maki because of the quality of the food, but no longer. Service has always been slow and rude but this particular incident has broken the camels back. The staff have always been particularly rude but this time was terrible. The food was ordered but we were waiting 1hr 30m in which point we had been growing very hungry. Particularly disappointed as it's a Tuesday night and it's supposed to be my brother's birthday takeaway. The delivery driver rocks up and drops the food over the driveway and insists that everything was fine but there would be a further delay- needless to say, he did not even attempt to clear it up. I sent the driver away with the food (that wasn't splattered over the driveway) as we no longer wanted it after such a wait. I phoned the restaurant and after explaining the situation, the member of staff was very rude and nonchalant regarding the situation. Before I hung the phone up I told them I wouldn't be ordering from here again.

Didn't get what I ordered. Service was quite slow, but the cod was cooked fresh. Burger was tasty but expensive - claimed to be Wagu beef which I highly doubt. Freezing cold in the shop. I'll be going back to my usual UK Fish Bar.

Not that busy yet they managed to completely mess up the order. Gave us one burger instead of the two we ordered, the burger we did receive had two patty's in it which wasn't asked for and we were charged some random price that doesn't add up to what we asked for or what we got. When phoned to resolve the problem the person was argumentative and just kept on insisting that we got what we ordered.

First time time I ordered today, we had cod and chips and Doner kebab. I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips I tasted in Maldon. Cod was fresh not frozen, chips spot on and Doner kebab came with traditional Turkish pitta, amazing and thank you.

Just incredible food, only had to wait around 10-15 minutes and was piping hot still by the time we got home. Slightly pricier than other takeaways in the area however this is reflected in the quality and taste of the food and they have a wider variety on the menu. Definitely recommend trying this place out as it’s new in Maldon town ☺️
