Up and coming pub with loads of various events. Bands, singers, quiz nights, music bingo etc. Publican wants everyone to have a great time. Not just for locals. I'm told quality dining is on the way too. Will update as things progress

Friendly pub...excellent simple food formula. Cracking pinto of Guiness. Roo the in house dog a treat.

Football, nice people, great food. Burgers were top tier. Very kid friendly!

Was by far the best burger I have had for a long time, I would recommend over and over.

Where can the current menu be found ? **Update 6/12/23** Called in for lunch yesterday around 13.30 had trouble finding a parking space, luckily a couple who were shopping across the road, not from the Red Lion went back to their car and vacated the space for us to pull into. That was one hurdle over, walked into the pub expecting it to be packed solid due to the volume of vehicles in the car park only to find a handful of locals at the bar. Tables and chairs were plentiful, but no sign of any food about, being eaten or otherwise, no sign of cutlery, condiments or anything else that implied food was for sale. Previous reveuwee’s state nice food and give high scores , fail to understand this. To all intense and purposes this was a pub and nothing else even though there was a sandwich board at the roadside,needless to say we left and had a nice all day English Breakfast at The Cabin B o C. So really you did us a favour.

Finally freshly made delicious food in Latchingdon!! And sorry to anyone that offends, but as a vegetarian it was so great to have veggie and vegan options, that actually had flavour and felt part of the menu (not just an after thought). This tasty food, served by super friendly staff, with a cold beer / wine, in an environment where all are welcome, it’s an absolute winning combination! Thanks to Uncle Bucks and the amazing team at the Red Lion for the perfect Friday night! 👌🏼 🍔 🤤 We can’t wait to be back already!

Only Larga and Guinness sold here, very disappointing. No food was available on my visit due to kitchen refurbishment, so can't comment. I only stayed for 1 beer as I'm a real ale drinker.

The perfect combination of a clean, well presented pub, but with dartboards, pool, TV and a friendly pub dog. At the moment the kitchens are being renovated so there is no food, but I will be back to test that as soon as the work is completed.

Friendly enough but food is very basic, when the kitchen is actually open.

Fantastic pub with fantastic staff. They really do their best to make you feel welcome. Great range of drinks and activities - and they are super dog friendly! 5 stars!

Save yourself a few quid, get a straw and drink a puddle in a squat house. The experience is about the same and the company will be better.

Beer tastes disgusting and terrible management, do yourself a favour and drink beer out of a toilet to replicate your experience here for a fraction of the price

Had great sausage and mash. Very friendly Mine Host, who even lit the real fire for us. Recommend the Pink Gin.

Terrific, fast and friendly service. Food was great, standard pub grub menu but a large choice. Fantastic pint of Wibblers Gold ale. Highly recommended.

I really wanted to like this place because the waitress was so nice but we were dumped in an empty room. Limited menu and nothing for those on a diet. We waited AGES for the food and whilst the scampi and burgers were nice, the lasagne was rock hard. Very underwhelming 15th birthday lunch.

Great hosts had a perfect weekend

Food delivered wasn't what I ordered and also cold the burgers half cooked and done in a microwave . I was physically sick. Then I phoned them and they were too busy to sort it out. Not happy I had to fork out again to get food somewhere else. I at present still have not got my money back.

Nice beer garden. Food was a miss, the pulled pork was mostly rock hard just as if taken out freezer and microwaved ta death ☹️

I placed an order through the new just eat delivery service tonight. The order was confirmed & we were given an approximate delivery time. My partner and I were really looking forward to our burgers, only to receive an email 5 minutes before the delivery was due that the order had been cancelled as they weren't able to deliver within the stated time. I would have prefered a phone call asking if it was ok to deliver later rather than just cancelling the order. I tried calling to speak to the pub directly but the line was permanently busy. We were left with no option but to order from elsewhere

We stopped at this pub for a quick drink and ended up ordering Sunday lunch. The roast beef was excellent, served with a huge homemade Yorkshire pudding and a large selection of freshly cooked veg. Everything on the plate was homemade and freshly cooked. Couldn’t fault it. We were served by a lovely lady called Laura who made us feel very welcome(nothing was to much trouble). Wish we lived nearer so we could sample the takeaway menu.

Lovely pub with great friendly staff. Dog friendly and brought water out for the dog. Sunday roast was fabulous but wish I'd had the small portion as the standard was massive. Would definitely recommend this place👍👍

Visited with a friend and will return as you can see the new owners are trying to revamp the old place and we want to support local one man bands.The young lady that showed us to her table was polite but could try and engage in conversation bless her she looked petrified of taking our orders and was keen to give us our bill. The atmosphere from the bar was very welcoming and friendly and the food and drinks came at a good time.Our baguettes were tasty but the prawn sauce could have been thicker as it was quite runny and could have had some crisps or garnish on the plate.Generally worth a visit and lovely views to the rear of the pub.Well done to the new owners.

we had a table of 9 booked for 7 on a saturday and were swiftly seated to our table. the waitress was clearly new but done a good job of dealing with 9 guests. the food came out and was of a good standard with big portions for everyone. if you want some classic pub grub this will certainly hit the spot. The scampi came out with around 12 pieces which i thought was very good.

Superb liver & bacon. Couldn't fit in syrup sponge so coming back for coffee & pudding. Nice beer. Wibblers.

Thankfully we only booked a one night stay here. The room was basic, with a double and single bed so crowded. Shower room was cold, no way of heating, the shower ran hot for a short while then cold, warm and cold again, so went to bed unshowered. If I had showered the towels would have provided excellent exfoliation .The lighting in here was so bad it would have been difficult to shave. The shower room door needs some WD40. The cupboard for clothes is behind a mirror so awkward to use.. The only positives were a tv, fast internet and a plentiful supply of toilet rolls. Way over priced for what is provided. I know the people have only been here a short while , hopefully they will work on improving the accommodation. The website photos are not like the reality.

Great pub very friendly atmosphere- nice tradition touch putting seafood and cheese’s out on the bar - the whole team very friendly and polite - we each had a small portion of Lasagna with halloumi fries - very very nice indeed - along with a nice fresh side salad. Looking forward to getting back in there!

Coming back from Devon looking for something to eat popped in for a roast very warm welcome nothing to much trouble had a large chicken and large beef roast came with a massive homemade Yorkshire pud beef cooked well nice and tender chicken list and succulent veg cooked to perfection would definitely come back for a Sunday roast

Nice friendly pub with great food and a couple of real ales. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food served from lunchtime to evening on a Saturday. We ate at 15:30 and everything was lovely.

This lovely little pub does what it says on the tin. Really friendly welcome, comfortable and clean rooms and super attentive owners. Dave and his wife were delightful hosts. We stayed there as we were attending a wedding at the Three Rivers and was convenient for the location. Great little find, very reasonably priced and a breakfast cooked to order. Highly recommended for value and friendliness. Thank you will definitely recommend. Also Doris is a delight!!

A very warm welcome. My Irish Setter Chilli was made very welcome. Food was great. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Always a worry when everywhere else is packed and this place was empty. Food very mediocre.

We had the pleasure of popping in for a drink at this dog-friendly establishment yesterday. A warm welcome awaited us and we subsequently decided to sample the food menu. The portion sizes were were very generous and everything was cooked to perfection. The pub has come on leaps and bounds since the new owners have taken it on and is well worth a visit, but don’t take my word for it, give it a try for yourself!

Typical small town local, friendly atmosphere and freshly decorated basic bed rooms, altogether nice.

Nice enough pub. Stayed here while in the area attending a friend's wedding. Our room (3) was not over spacious but a quite comfortable bed and a nice strong shower. Now, breakfast, not included in the price for the room, that was delicious. You have a choice of a five or eight item breakfast (eight item was £8-95)

11 friends Stayed overnight after an event in Maylandsea. The staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. They gave us a cooked breakfast in the morning and a lift back to our cars. We will be back next year. Thank you

Country pub atmosphere .. just perfect !! one of our party turned up late but accommodated to be able to still enjoy an excellent cooked meal. My mum was happy ! Is there anything else that is good in the world :)

Came in for a meal with my children and wife the other day. I had the beef Lasange. It was average. It wasn’t piping hot but I couldn’t be bothered to complain as it took 40minutes to come out. Even though my family only had baguettes and toasties. The whole pub stuck of marijuana. A bloke at the bar went outside every 15-20minutes for a cigarette with weed in. We knew this for sure as he smoked it directly in front of us through the window and then came inside and talked about it loudly. The smell was horrible, it made my little girl feel ill. The whole pub and even outside stunk of it the whole time for our visit. We will not be returning and we are gutted as we thought this could be our new local.

Pop in today for a bit of lunch as my daughter and boyfriend are buying a house in this area .What a lovely family friendly placeWe had excellent food all cooked fresh we was waited on by a lovely member of staff ,lovely clean pub with excellent views we definitely be using this pub again .

Visited with my brother-in-law and his wife. A very cosy atmosphere in the bar area and a warm welcome from locals and wait staff. My husband had a burger, which he said was one of the best he's eaten in years. I had the vegetarian lasagna which was absolutely delicious. All the food is freshly prepared, so there is a bit of a wait after your order is taken, but definitely worth waiting for. There are special offers for over 55s, which we declined because we were told the portions were smaller. Wish we had gone for that option as the 'normal' portions are substantial. We managed to get through apple pie and custard, and chocolate fudge cake and vanilla ice cream. You need to visit this restaurant with an empty stomach!!! Would thoroughly recommend.

My husband and I had the pleasure of eating Sunday lunch today and what a little treasure we found the food was excellent and lots of it the price exceptionally reasonable but the star of this pub are the people nothing was to much trouble, so polite and the service fantastic. Highly recommended
