Beautiful pub, however the cask ale was rancid and tasted of vinegar. Please give basic sensory training to your staff. Crazy cheap. Pleasant & hard-working staff.

A very welcome Stop in Town. By far the best value price wise of any other pub. Clean, busy and spacious.

Lovely little spoons this, one of the cheaper ones, food was quick and loads of seating.

Had a small wrap and coffee. Very good value for money. The pub itself is well kept, not big and the staff friendly. There's a good atmosphere in there especially at lunch time. Very nice place to eat and drink, I would definitely go there again.

Had a full English breakfast - food was great, value for money, atmosphere is great. I am a regular customer. Just a small area for improvement - please keep tables clean. Well done and keep up your hard work, I will be coming back! Thank you ;)

It's a weatherspoons u get what u pay for OK food at a OK price good beer at good price... We eat here because if kids don't like it the pocket is still in tact.... Its OK eaten worse for more.

As good as any Wetherspoons Pub. Nice local history on walls. Expect sticky tables, but ask for a clean and they will oblige.

A nice Wetherspoon to visit in a historic building that is well converted. Usual staples with good selection of good and drinks offering decent value for money.

Every time we try to get in there is no room and people sit nursing a drink taking up a table for four. Not fair for people who want to sit and eat

Never had food, just a lovely cup of coffee

A good friend and I meet here about one a month as it’s got a great atmosphere, prices are very reasonable and I’ve never had a bad meal from there in the past few years. The staff are friendly and efficient (especially Kim who we always have a quick chat with). If I had to find a negative it would be the Internet access in there – the phones mobile signal is quite bad so I think everybody is trying to use the Wi-Fi which is horrendously slow on busy periods and sometimes make it extremely difficult to use the app and order food/drinks. (Maybe a computer guru could allow Wetherspoons app to have priority on the Wi-Fi which would really really help)

A nice Wetherspoon's. An old pub still going with the usual Wetherspoon's fare but that's why we like them and it was very busy so we weren't the only ones.

I like this pub. It's pretty big and got plenty of seating. There's both quite initmate seating areas and bigger areas that are more in the open. Very suitable for lunch but also good for late night drinks. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly. The general atmosphere is good. The place can be crowded but that makes sense since it's a good pub.

Food is a good price, but you get what you pay for, my steak was supposed to have 3 onion rings, but only 1 and 3/4, it wasn't great. My partner food had aluminium foil stuck on the bottom of it, do your staff know how dangerous Ingestion of aluminium foil is !!!!!!! Perhaps Tim Martin would like to reply

I arrived for a meal at peak time..12.45 on a Tuesday. Thinking it might be quiet,but I guess they are well known for good reasonable meals. Needless to say, it was busy,and we found the last table. Somebody came straight away to take our drinks order. We ordered food not long after that, and it arrived at our table withinin a short while. The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive. There's is a public car park to the rear,so you have the opportunity to go for a walk along the promenade to see the barges to walk off your meal or wander around the shops. A very good place to go. I would recommend

Another Spoons ticked off my list. Lovely historic building, that's been sympathetically extended. Visited on a cold Saturday lunchtime, it was packed, that in itself is a good advertisement, staff were very helpful and polite

For context this was Wednesday afternoon - so customers but not crazy like I imagine Friday/Saturday nights. Great festival alea at a decent price. Good service... Pleasant atmosphere with WiFi - handy if like me just fancy an ale and listen to some podcasts. I didn't try the food but the menu is excellent and from previous experience of Wetherspoons , I'm sure it's decent

Typical Wetherspoons, good value and good food options. Ordering by the app works well. Lots of space inside and some outside. Good location in the high street with Butt Lane car park behind.

Usual Spoons food and drink. Good alue and friendly staff. As usual much to loud.

I have become a big fan of Weatherspoon, they cater for vegans, have the best selection of none alcoholic beers I found anywhere and you can have as much coffee as you like.

For a Wetherspoon pub this was great. A historic building in the middle of the High Street in a very nice little town in East Anglia! We didn't realise it was a Wetherspoon until the menu showed up, so pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and well prepared food. Everything was top notch for our impromptu day out in Maldon.

Great pub went in for a mixed grill and a couple of pints it was absolutely superb

Miserable staff. Slow service. The beer might be cheap but this place is soulless. If you're a manager and the bar is busy SERVE people...don't stand around chatting. You're no more important than any other employee.

Food is what you pay for. Cheap and cheerful. Would never go there for a special occasion. Basically first and last time.

Didn't realize until half way through our burgers they had been served burned side down bit late to send them back. Will check before I eat next time. Lesson learned

Good service, very busy, good atmosphere

One of Wetherspoons better establishments. Has a traditional pub feel to it. Only downside was we were a large group and at last orders a couple of is waited at the bar to be served then the bar person said they were closed. When we said we were waiting from before closing time they said the manager wouldn't allow them to serve anymore. As the 8 of us were all having a 'nightcap' it seems Mr Martin missed out on a few quid there. Apart from that it was fine.

They rang the bell for last orders then proceeded to tell everyone that came for "last orders" that they couldn't serve them as they were understaffed... It was Wednesday night and between the THREE of them, they could managed with the 3 customers at the bar. With ease. bad service.

The pub looked small from the outside but once you went inside it was very big and spacious, staff were very helpful and friendly,had outside area where you could also eat or just drink, food was good, didn't have to wait long at all,

I bet this pub is no where near as good as it was 25 years ago? I have been in a few times since it became a Wetherspoons but not in the past 5 years. I have just been remembering some of the hot summer days that I wasted my life away in the 1990's, with people I remember fondly! Would be fun to have a re-union with the old crowd - maybe pose for photos of Now and Then, Reg on a stool where he used to sit after using the window of Reeves and Sons to comb his hair before making his entrance bang on 10.30pm?

The kitchen staff has changed over, over the past year and the food was awful! I ordered a burger and it was so burnt you couldn't bite through it. The manager after seeing it was shocked and got it remade but had the same issue. The staff were nice, although the wait and food was not.

My wife would like to know why butter on the jacket potato is left in the packet .But the filling was already on the potato , meaning trying to butter a jacket potato with beans and cheese already on. She's a bit crazy , but this kinda makes sense !

It’s a Wetherspoons! No more no less. Great value for money, huge selection of beers served in good condition. The Rose and Crown has a pleasant ambience and good service. The food is rather average but you can’t complain for the price.

Great pub on the high street with an outdoor seating area at the rear to relax in while the sun shines. Usual quality selection of food and drink available along with the smartphone app to order from your table.
