The food is wonderful! On Google Maps it is still listed as Common Ground. Since Melissa took over, it has been called The Cake Shack. The space is cosy but there is outdoor seating for warmer days or you have your dog with you.

The White Horse is everything a proper pub should be—cosy, welcoming, and just the right side of lively. The ale selection is spot-on (the sort that turns a quick pint into a proper session). The staff treated my dog like a VIP and me like an old mate. You come in for a drink, end up staying for hours, and leave half-considering a move to the village. Five stars, no question—just don’t take my seat

Very dated. Needs quite a bit tlc. Black mould on bathroom ceiling, rips in quilt cover, paper on walls peeling off. Under the toilet rim was really bad 👎. Ate in the bar first night food was average. Breakfast was included every morning . Only had it the first morning as again it was average . Everything looked old and dated. Sat outside once for a drink, tables were rotten, cigarette ends were all over. Noise from a humming boiler room was constant and other guests letting their heavy doors slam shut was shocking. Doesn't make me want to return which we had booked to return a week later for a wedding, we've now cancelled and booked somewhere else . Upsides.... Beautiful location, quaint little village, ample parking.

Stayed in many a Premier Inn hotel lately and you always know what to expect. Room is very comfortable. Not a branded restaurant it was a new-style Premier Inn restaurant. Very busy so needed to book a table on arrival. Reasonable prices. Nice selection on the menu. Beer was priced reasonably.

Excellent country pub with a fantastic selection of real ales. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Very freindly staff and owner. Highly recommend a visit.

Popped in after a walk, spacious and very clean Had delicious Mediterranean wrap, some chips and salad. Good menu, plenty to choose from. Table had been reserved for us. Food for 15 came out all together, hot and delicious and had been pre-ordered in advance. Very well organised. Staff friendly and hospitable. I'm not a dog fan and would prefer a dog free area, that said I can see that those with dogs would really enjoy it here. Ambiance was functional and sparse but clean and spacious. Will definitely go back again and would try the full English which looked delicious.

Tuesday evening visit so hard to judge atmosphere. The staff are excellent - attentive without being pushy. The menu was varied and the small plates option a nice touch. Food delivered hot and nicely presented. Price-wise not bad for a country pub - especially given the costs of stuff at the moment. Would visit again and recommend.

One of the best pubs in the area now with the new management — delicious homemade food, honest and hospitable service, and a warm and cosy environment. Having lived in the area all my life and with a career in the culinary world, this is an excellent restaurant worth dining at.

Excellent, home-cooked food and great service. Georgia was fantastic: friendly, efficient and professional. We'll certainly be back again soon.

Fantastic authentic village pub. Fantastic staff lead by landlady Sue, buffet food served for family wake exceptional. Highly recommend a visit as offer live music too.. Hidden gem beyond Blackwells cafe with great parking and outdoor seating... Make the effort you won't be disappointed.

Lovely food, nice staff. Salads are really fresh, fish and chips great, pizza lovely. Great place to take away

A fabulous pub run by fabulous people

Went for our weekly mid week lunch this week and Christmas lunch last week, as always the food was excellent along with the staff who were friendly and attentive. We were joined by friends for Christmas lunch, this was a first for them and they will be back. Keep it up. Thank you.

Have used this McDonald’s for the past 20 years and in the past year or so it has become a shambles. My last 15 orders or so I have had to park up in the waiting bay. This McDonald’s is not fast food anymore. Shame as it used to be the best McDonald’s in the area.
