Lovely old English country pub with an excellent pizza menu and great service!

Lovely little pub. Cozy, friendly. Fantastic beer choices including the lovely hawkstone. Pizza is unbelievable! Fresh dough and ingrediants. Couldn’t fault it really! We will definitely be back. Thank you!

Fantastic country pub great drinks selection from their range of Ales to fine spirits. The pizza’s alone are worth the journey as nothing compares anywhere nearby they are very well made ..

Pizzas have gone downhill recently - not sure if they’ve changed the chef and recipes (eg not thin and crispy anymore). It’s a shame as they were amazing, and now about average. But, still a great pub overall with great outside area and cosy inside bar.

I have used this pub for over half a century. I've never seen it this bad. It was empty and it was 1-15pm. I can see why.

Nice outside space but pizzas disappointing. Not enough topping, so little flavour and soft base.

We’ve been lots of summer and love this place so much ( as do our kids and on this occasion our friends!) We returned to the dragon again this evening and once again had a wonderful time. The garden has recently had new Astro turf and it’s clear they take good care of both the inside and outside of the pub! It was busy but the staff gave a good warning as to how long pizzas would be and we were more than prepared to wait for them as we know how yummy they are. All good things take time, especially when fresh!!! We will definitely be back soon.

Been here quite a lot over the past year or so and always good food and fresh beer. Saturday was very quiet and a bank holiday, ordered our pizzas and ale very nice but plagued with flies and this has put us off in going again. Real shame as a lovely pub and I know Chris the owner has worked very hard to make it a sucess which it is but for the flies. I am sure they will irradicate the infestation very soon.

Great evening in a lovely country pub, Pizza was delicious and staff/service was excellent, not sure why so many negative reviews, some people love to moan, assuming these people will only be happy when all the independently owned English country pubs are gone.

I needed to write this review after reading some others?? My husband and had a sunny late afternoon sit in the Green Dragons beautiful garden. Staff were friendly, polite and very professional. We shared Olives and a Pizza and they did not disappoint!! Thank you Green Dragon!

So sad to have to add my negative review to those I've just read - but whatever has HAPPENED to the once-lovely Green Dragon at Flaunden? Disgusting and over-priced pizzas, with rubbish toppings, that was all the food choice available! I had taken my family as a special treat (as in beter times past) and was so EMBARRASSED and HUMILIATED to have received such a rip-off meal. I'm now very ANGRY!!! I shall NEVER go there again and I shall warn all my friends (and enemies!) to steer well-clear of this appalling travesty of a so-called pub. Beware that sweet-looking dragon - he'll burn your pizza to a crisp - and set fire to your wallet!!

Great place to eat if you like Pizza which are freshly baked and made to order.

Last Friday evening we decided to go to the Green Dragon for a pizza. We checked the website and it said open for food on Friday till 9pm. We arrived after a fair drive and hungry at just after 8.30 to be told that they had closed the kitchen consequently no pizzas. The girls behind the counter,not particularly empathetic, mumbled ‘we should update the website’. You are a long way out most people have to drive to visit you, poor service all round. I will not be attempting to go there again. PS 7 days later no change to website

Lovely pub big garden and there pizzas are amazing cooked in there italian pizza oven.

By far the WORST pizza. It was paper thin, each slice had only 1 piece of Pepperoni and it looked like they had ran out of cheese and the garlic bread lacked garlic and tasted burnt! Very disappointing meal, the price of alcohol was expensive, but the staff are friendly and the garden is nice.

Fairly average pub, beer wasn't the best nor was the food but it's a nice pub nonetheless

I didn't order anything, as we were just a hiking group of teens. A lot of people passed that poing, and everything was great! The only issue is that you had to pay for something to use the bathrooms.

I'm from Rome, the capital of pizza, and can honestly say that the pizza is just the real thing. Great place too.

Had a lovely stay in this Hotel. Comfortable room. Very friendly staff.

Lovely genuinely friendly young lady, 2 for £20 pizzas (Thurs only) really tasty enjoyed by open fire very cosy on a very wet evening.

Excellent pub post walk around near the Chess Valley river. Great selection of drinks on tap and fantastic pizza, as well as other offerings on the menu. But seriously, try the pizza.

Update: Went on a Thursday night for a birthday treat for my son who turned 8. He loves the pizzas and they do a fantastic offer of any 2 pizzas for £20. The staff couldn't have been more lovely! i called ahead and explained it was his birthday, they arranged a delicious chocolate brownie with ice cream and a happy birthday msg for pudding (free). My son stood near the pizza chef and asked questions (he wants to be a chef!) the chef was very kind, interactive but also professional and focused on cooking. I'm very grateful for the wonderful staff and service and always enjoy our visits! Thank you x Great pub with lovely garden! Pizzas are delicious but a bit pricey. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. My family walk here from a nearby village and enjoy a drink and pizza regularly. Calzone is yum. Fish and chips also good on a Friday. Sunday roasts not as good as mine 😋

Nice pub for food and selection of beers. More restaurant like than pub. Disappointed with the decision to forsake cash and only accept card etc.

I can't say anything about the Restaurant itself but about the Location. So the PUB or RESTAURANT itself has a nice small CarPark and it looked itself very inviting so really worth to give it a try !! So Food & Service can't say anything, but the Ambiente and Location is really great. So whoever Passes this Area should give it a try.

Fantastic experience. We hosted a big group lunch this week, and the service was excellent from beginning to end. Food was delicious, team are friendly. Abbie was a rockstar with the booking, easy to communicate with and helpful all the way. Can recommend!

Under new, still independent, ownership by 3 years. - Beer turned back, hadn't been pulled through. When questioned, then pulled through so was then oK. - No cash, card only. - Don't run tabs either inside or outside so every transaction paid for at time of order at bar. Can understand outside, but inconvenient inside. - No table service. Only when food served. - Functional establishment only. Polite & efficient but no real warmth or customer engagement, unless encouraged by customer. - - - Geared to maximize revenue at low-maintenance, pared back cost. Fine as a business, but not at the cost of customer experience. - Rear garden astro-turfed. Good for maintenance, bad for ambience and customer experience. - Limited lunch menu. No baguette, ciabatta snacks (or sandwiches, from memory, I think). - Fish Friday at 12.50 pounds. oK, but small fish. Didn't flatter the establishment's "quality" styling. - May go back when I fancy a nice run out, but won't rush. I have better choices closer with better ambience, facilities & menus. - Overall... disappointing.

Great Pizzas good pub garden in the sun ☀️

Lovely pub with great facilities and friendly staff, only criticism is you need better signage informing patrons how to enter the pub from the car park.

If you are going to hire the barn for a party the sound system they have is inadequate for this It is not loud enough if you have 40+ people in your party if you want to have a disco-style party.

Lovely pub with an excellent garden, lots of outdoor seating and not just your typical pub bench. All our pizzas were delicious, fresh and traditional. Look forward to visiting again

Lovely pub for after game refreshment. Young footballer was happy they have pizzas. On that point, they have proper pizza oven, very efficient. By the time I had a sip of a pint the pizzas arrived. The better half tried the Sunday roast and said it was delicious. In the beautiful sun, the garden was a pleasure but logically gets busy. It's a good starting or finishing point for a number of walks through the nearby woods and Chess valley. Use the nearby village centre carpark for that.

Disappointed, On the Wednesday night we booked the pizza oven was not in operation, so three quarters of the items on the menu where not available. Other options would have been nice to choose from as a backup plan. We also felt rushed and were told by the staff to put in our last order at around 8:30pm as it was closing at 9pm which for a restaurant we considered to be very early. Maybe it was because we were 1 of only 2 tables full that night. They did recommend moving to the bar area if we wanted to continue our evening though Not really impressed.

Disappointed when after booking (you need to ring up to book a table), and then being seated, we were told that the pizza oven is no longer open on a Tuesday. No issues with that occurring as a business choice, however it is frustrating that we were not told when we made the original booking as that is a significant part of the menu. We would not have come on a Tuesday otherwise. Nevertheless we ordered from the rest of the menu. Calamari was excellent as a starter. All the main courses however, were very average and not up to the standard normally set by their fresh pizza offerings. We won't return for a while after this experience. Staff were polite.

The fish and chips are such good value and a perfect mid walk stop. Really enjoyed our lunch at the green dragon. Feels like it’s recently been refurbished and looking forward to returning in the Summer to enjoy the garden.

We visited The Green Dragon as a family recently and would definitely return and recommend to others. Food was absolutely delicious (especially the pizza!), service was really friendly and the setting/location is lovely.

Lovely pub, great food and efficient staff. However, this establishment will not accept cash. Cash is legal tender in this country and should be accepted anywhere. A great shame, but I would not ever go back unless cash is accepted.

Nice building and surroundings, but wouldn't take cash (card only) and for some reason wouldn't set up a tab, so would have had to go back to the bar and pay separately for food and any additional drinks. So didn't bother. If you don't want my money I'll spend it somewhere else.

Excellent Sunday lunch we all chose a different roast. Good Service and quality red wine. Dog friendly and helpful staff It made our Sunday without the washing up!

Brilliant little countryside pub. Explained when we arrived that pizzas currently were not available but this was no problem. They have a new extensive menu and both myself, husband and the children all thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Yes as mentioned below the pub was quiet but I don’t quite know what people would expect mid January after Christmas and a cost of living crisis. Service was absolutely faultless. Also lovely to see the managers interacting with their staff and customers, not just sat in an office. We will be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went for pizza, but the pizzaiolo was away, given the place is famous for its pizzas, would have been good to tell us while booking. However we decided to stay for food, the empty dining room should have been a warning sign. Starters were fine. Main course not so much. One of us ordered steak. It looked like it has been pre chewed. Another ordered spaghetti bolognese, the spaghetti was raw, it looked like it was microwaved, very dry, and the risotto could have done with being cooked. Overall very disappointing and certainly not worth the heavy price.

We had a very nice meal at the Green Dragon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It has changed since it was renovated but still keeps the cosy atmosphere.

Lovely pub, brilliant garden, great food. The pizzas are particularly great and they have a great gluten free base and vegan cheese option.

Amazing place where I like to relax in. My son and myself were looking forward to seeing the Thai meals, however there is a special huge pizza ovens which now show cases it's very own homemade pizza. A good range of drinks to choose from too. I'm glad the pub is now extended keeping in character with the original pub. There's a snug which shows the history of The Green Dragon 🐉

Came for Sunday lunch on a warm day and it was beautiful. Gorgeous garden, excellent food - the roasts were great. An extra special shout out for having vegan ice cream that is also soya free for my son with allergies, he was so happy that he could enjoy a ‘proper dessert’ like everyone else instead of the item I had brought with me just in case. Looking forward to returning to sample the pizzas which looked amazing.

The pizza was very good and quite authentic, better than the chain places! It was nice to sit out in the garden and the staff were very good and helpful.

They have modernised the pub and garden which is great, the ordering of food and drinks are a little strange as you ordered from one person and paid, and another person got your drinks, so if you discide to charge order mid way through its not easy, so order too one person and pay that person at the end of getting what you want

Found this lovely beautiful pub with garden seating to soak up the afternoon sun. Amazing worth popping out to visit and enjoy one of there tasty pizza or a full Sunday lunch yummy.

Welcoming, well-kept drinks and a decent menu, an oasis in its area. The essence now is that the pub restaurant is a pizzeria, fresh pizza from a genuine pizza oven. Not the cheapest, but very good of its kind.

Lovely food and service been a few times now for both drinks and food and it’s excellent. Today it was very busy but no drop in service etc very attentive and couldn’t fault it really.

A classic British pub interior and exterior, with some modern touches, set in a quiet village. Good selection of beers and ciders on tap, kitchen serves beautiful authentic freshly made pizzas. A must try.

Great service, garden and pizza!

The pub had been renovated, I believe, and was sparkling! There was a great atmosphere, including a table of people celebrating a birthday. We ordered our drinks, which arrived nice and quickly. We finally chose our pizzas, all choosing something different! Mine was loaded with aubergines, peppers, etc and I have to admit it was the best I have ever tasted! I’ve travelled the world extensively and suddenly discover this gem on our doorstep! Well, not literally!! Delicious and my companions all wolfed up theirs, which speaks volumes! Bravo, Green Dragon! I’ll be back soon!
