We had an extremely disappointing experience during our recent visit. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the restaurant was understaffed and chaotic. Despite adding specific notes to our booking, these were ignored. The manager appeared stressed and unhelpful, and the lack of organisation was evident throughout. It took 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order, and we had to remind them to place our food order as well, which eventually arrived over an hour and a half later. Throughout the lunchtime and into the late afternoon, the staff repeatedly mentioned being short-staffed and a chef down. However, this didn’t seem to affect other diners, including a table of 15 who were served promptly, finished their meals, and left long before we received our food. We felt at best forgotten and, at worst, deliberately ignored. The waiters did eventually apologise for the delays, but by that point, the damage had been done. The food itself was subpar, and my father couldn’t eat his sea bass. As a result, he suffered a diabetic hypo on the journey home, which was both alarming and preventable with better service and quality food. The manager neither apologised or acknowledged the overall poor experience until we complained at the end. Only then were we offered a 50% discount and a free meal, but honestly, we shouldn’t have been charged at all. The experience was so poor that we will not be returning. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Took a while to find out if the food I wanted was dairy free, but friendly and welcoming staff, and a cozy atmosphere. Would go again.

Really lovely pub, although I called ahead to check they were serving food and they failed to tell me the kitchen was closing early. I had invited friends who were travelling long distance to join me to have dinner for my birthday. We were very disappointed to be told the kitchen was closed on ordering at 8:06pm. I would come back again but would appreciate better communication of their serving times.

We regularly have lunch here ..We weren’t told there wasn’t going to be a lunchtime menu when it was booked …but the food was ok ..all 4of us ordered tea after the meal …..after a while the waiter came along ….’right we’ve only got two teabags left … ,,who wants a coffee “ ! I did suggest there’s a shop nearby to get some more … We’ve always had a lovely manager but the one on Monday wasn’t … and that was before the meal .

Great food, bit pricey but worth every penny!

Had Christmas Eve dinner here with the family, we had an enjoyable meal with great staff, but do the management who are behind the scenes need a good dressing down. Our first choice of red wine was unavailable, as was our second, we were then offered a different wine not on the list (left overs?), but given we were ordering a complex Italian, the version of Beaujolais they were trying to unload was not welcome. We were served the wrong white wine twice, at one point we thought we may never get any wine. We went for the upgrade festive menu but quite a few items on the menu were unavailable, it was easier to ask the waiter to confirm what was available rather than make a selection, eight of us wanted the steak, they had one! They gave us a steak upgrade, just as well for me as there was no other mail listed that I wanted. The staff handled all the issues with a smile, stayed calm and professional and worked through. The food we did receive was delicious. We will go back, but probably never as a large group or on a holiday date.

Spent Christmas lunch here, great food, warm atmosphere and excellent service

Food quality was excellent. Staff were friendly and efficient. Mac and cheese needed bit more flavour and the trimming of the festive menu were served separate but would've preferred it in the dish. Food overall was very high quality and great wine. Highly recommend the place and we will visit again soon.

- The place looks lovely. Used to come in regularly back in the late 90's and early 00's. Like what you've done with the place. - The service was ok. Certainly not great. On the slow side of acceptable, but I didn't mind too much, since we were there for the social interaction, more than the food. - My pizza was cold (not just a bit cold, very cold...) and the customisation (can you make it spicy) was underwhelming. - To their credit, our server did ask how the food was. One of our party responded on our behalf so I didn't really get a chance to mention this at the time. - I didn't interrogate the bill - but £40/head did seem a bit steep.

We've eaten here recently before going to the Kings Langley Jazz Club. Food has been lovely, particularly the Sea Bass we had on our last visit. The service always seems slow on a Tuesday - most recently I had to go to the bar and ask to pay as we were running late to get to the gig. A lovely place to eat.

I had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Rose and Crown. The food was delicious, but the standout was the exceptional service provided by Gabriella. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made our dining experience truly enjoyable. Her positive attitude and willingness to assist were top-notch. Popped in for some refreshments after the remembrance parade on Sunday and was blown away by how friendly and helpful the staff were. In particular Am was amazing and really great with our 6yr old.

We met friends here for a Sunday roast and weren’t disappointed. Someone had warned us that portions were generous so we didn’t order starters. Sure enough our meals were fantastic, beautifully presented, meats perfectly cooked and served with a great selection of seasonal vegetables ( and plenty of gravy!!). The Yorkshire puddings were gorgeous( almost as good as mine😂). The staff were very attentive , one in particular had a dead pan sense of humour which kept us amused! Our table was in a little booth area which was perfect for our party as we had a couple of small children with us. They were offered colouring books and crayons. Highly recommend the Rose and Crown for a family meal.

We had a glass break (shatter) as it fell over on our table. A member of staff arrived immediately to clear the mess and replaced our drinks, which was both thoughtful and generous. We had a very enjoyable evening and will visit again. 😊

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime and had problems parking (thanks to all the Kings Langley shoppers using the pub car park). Had a meal, but felt it was a bit expensive and not really good value. Won't go back, but nothing I could really point a finger at and complain about, just too expensive for the food and atmosphere.

Tbh we popped in here and thought about maybe having steak.. spoke to the bar manager who said tbh mill and carter up the road will do a better steak as this is more of a fish restaurant.. even though there’s a lot of meat options on the menu.. at £13 for 2 pints or peroni I was not happy that both pints were flat.. went to bar and he just poured the pint into another glass that went flat after 2 minutes was watching customers sitting down with fresh flat pints of peroni..

We ordered chicken strips from the kids menu. Had burnt flavour and no seasoning whatsoever. My kid refused to eat it after the first bite. The server was over friendly and insisted on talking to my child even though he was clearly not responding. We also felt the presssure to order more even though we had ordered 2 snacks, one child’s meal and 5 drinks in total. Toilet felt like a mile away, very hard to reach and not wheelchair friendly. The vibe was decent for a Saturday evening. Overall an experience I’m keen to forget especially the food.

We have just rediscovered the Rose & Crown since they had a make over and have upped their menu. It’s. A very nice place to go for a drink or to enjoy a meal. We have been twice now for Sunday lunch and both times we were very impressed but found one thing let it down. The meat was beautifully cooked, roast potatoes. lovely Yorkshire pudding, side of cauliflower cheese, greens all very good but the parsnips and carrots are so ‘el dente’ they are raw. So you feel like you leave a third of your roast because it’s inedible. Such a shame as they are Generous portions of Parsnips. Also my favourite part of a roast. I didn’t want to complain to the waitress as it wasn’t her fault. But please if management read this, please get the chef to cook the root veg throughly so it isn’t wasted. Aside from that the food and ambience is lovely.

I had food with a friend. I selected 3 mains which you did not have and she asked for another 2 you didn't have. The portions are very small and the price is very high Car Park was pitch black and dangerous

Came here for a excellent lunch. I heard they have a menu change coming up this week which I will be very excited to come and try.

I have visited this pub a couple of times in the last few months. Let's start by saying it's not cheap. Ohe pint and a medium glass of wine, topped up with lemonade, set me back by over 15 pounds. I arrived at 12 noon. So the place was deserted of customers. But I did notice that diners started to arrive by the time I left. The toilets seemed to be as difficult to locate as finding your way around Hampton Court Maze. The one plus thing I must mention, is, the car park. It is very large and spacious. I did not eat , so cannot comment on the food department.

Decent food and service. . I was here 2 weeks ago. Duck noodle salad and scallops for starters.

“Perfection! 6 stars! Delicious! Sharing camembert-delicious and a good sized portion. Squid starter-cooked perfectly. It just melted in the mouth. The dip was delicious. Dirty burger and cheeseburger-so juicy and full of flavour. Extra onion rings were crispy and not at all greasy. Seafood linguine-so much flavour, perfectly cooked prawns and scallops. Pimped margarita pizza was huge, well-cooked and delicious. Extra halloumi fried were crispy and delicious. Chocolate creme brulee-tasty Brownie-moist and tasty Sticky toffee pudding-tasty and so light it should have been floating off the plate. Honeycomb hot chocolate was delicious Irish coffee was tasty. Everything was hot. The service was impeccable. We were, unfortunately, only visiting for one night. It is a bit far to come for a repeat visit, but we cannot recommend this place highly enough. We fed 4 people very well for just under £160! ​​​​​​​​​​

We booked for a wedding anniversary midweek and I asked for a table in a quiet area. We were offered a table in the middle of the restaurant by the bar. The staff member admitted I had put a quiet area on the booking, but didn’t think it mattered. We eventually got a table by the window. I ordered the pork belly and scallops. The pork belly was solid and dry, with none of the unctuous nature you would expect. The Dauphinois potatoes were also dry and the crackling hard and almost inedible. My husband had the linguine, which he said was ‘adequate’. My Aperol spritz was also disappointing. The Prosecco was flat, so there was no spritz to it and there was no orange garnish. We didn’t bother with desserts or coffee. Not cheap and very disappointing.

I ordered online as I had been unwell and fancied a roast dinner. I’ve posted a picture of what I ordered and what arrived, don’t think much else needs to be said- maybe the fact there was no gravy actually. It was an open bag so there’s always a possibility the delivery driver helped himself.

Wonderful pub in King's Langley. We ordered some takeaway for our little boy, and it was going to take approx 1.5 pints to be ready. No problem at all,we settled into the comfy sofas to wait with a pint. It arrived in about 10 minutes, and as we were enjoying our surroundings, we ended up staying and feeding it to him there! Lovely staff, will visit again when we're back in the area.

Been to Rose and Crown recently, everything went amazing. Food out quick, great scenery and also very friendly staff. I want to thank Amelie who was lovely and gave us everything we needed even on a busy night. I recommend the cheesecake which was amazing.

Good all round experience. Not too loud for a business lunch meeting. Portions a bit small, but acceptable.

Honestly so happy we decided to make a quick stop on our drive here. We were greeted by Cat (I hope I spelt your name the right way) who could not have done more to make us feel right at home. The food was great and we have to say we were very pleasantly surprised by the price aswell! Very well kept and very clean we will definitely be returning and someone give cat (or Kat?) a raise!

A delicious Sunday Roast at the Rose & Crown today. Plenty of chicken, the gravy was delicious and massive Yorkshire puddings. Thanks to the wonderful staff especially Matt who makes fabulous cocktails. The food was delivered very quickly and nice and warm on a sunny Sunday.
