Attended my son’s wedding and wow did the Marchmont Arms do us proud. The staff, food setting and DJ were great. Special thanks must go to Andrea who was AMAZING nothing was too much trouble, she was always one step ahead of anything we needed and always with a smile.

We came for a wedding and it was superb. The service from Andrea and her team was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. They were accommodating and had set them room up brilliantly. The team were nice and smiley and all of them were great at service. The food was delicious. It was filling with great portion sizes and everything came out hot and fresh. I would throughly recommend for a big function or for a meal with family or friends. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful day for my brother and sister in law.

We always come back to the Marchmont! Recently we had a work evening here and Andrea really looked after us, going above and beyond.

Good pub but VERY spenny. Over £6 for a shandy. Wham.

The building is beautiful, the setting is great but the price isn't, It's actually more expensive than London. It's a shame as I live within a ten min walk but won't always choose it due to the price.

The staff were super accommodating and kind. they went above and beyond in helping the party i was with feel comfortable. Andria and Piper were two members that stood out as they were the staff that managed our tables

Come here this evening for a mini Hen night, the manager Cameron and waiter Charlie went above and beyond. The service was amazing and the food was just pure perfection. We was very well looked after and will 100% be coming back!! Thank you so much for a fantastic evening!

It’s broadly fine and on par with what i’d expect from a regional gastropub outside of London. Food is very good but i would say a little overpriced. Service is warm and friendly if not a little haphazard. Building is tired and dated.

We had a table booked for my niece's post Civil Wedding lunch. The Service was incrediblely slow. The restaurant was barely half full but they still struggled They sat us down for over 40mins after taking orders before we could even get drinks. No water on the table you have to wait for ages just to ask for salt & pepper... Staff's response was barely an apology more like "yeah we bringing " Food wasn't not bad, under seasoned ... hence the dire need for the the Salt n Pepper They forgot my order, it came after most ofvthe table were done. But to be fair they graciously commp'ed it. In summary - much room for improvement

Excellent food, lovely special starter of Octopus and really well cooked Sunday Roast. beef was really well cooked nicely pink in the middle. My wife is coeliac so needed a gluten free meal and the staff were very helpful and she had a good choice. Menu overall was really good selection. Staff very friendly and attentive, particularly the lady on front of house. Overall excellent experience.

Visited the Marchmont this evening with a friend for dinner, all staff super friendly, we had the pleasure of being served by Nicky who was fantastic, we ordered 2 fillet steaks, wait wasn’t too long and both turned up cooked as requested. Will 100% visit again

I had booked a table in there although was a bit quite at that time and had the best experience ever in terms of restaurants the hospitality in there is outstanding. Came upon this restaurant by chance when looking where to eat while on a trip with my partner. The place itself was amazing, many rooms to eat and very spacious seating. Serene atmosphere amazing interior. Waitress was very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was incredible and prices very reasonable for the food quality. Would highly recommend and will definitely revisit when in the area again. Thank you for the experience.

Fantastic time we booked for a meal first and hired the Orangery for a surprise party. The food was great and the staff help to create a brilliant surprise. We were lead into the Orangery through a curtain for the big surprise reveal. The staff were so helpful friendly and welcoming. Especially Andrea and I think his name was Justin! They couldn’t do more for us. The event was a huge success and we can’t thank them enough for all their help. Would highly recommend if anyone is looking for a venue to throw a party.

Food was very nice but unfortunately had a fall out with my boyfriend while we were eating which ruined the atmosphere a tad. Waiter came and said hi and then bye so service was good enough for me

Relaxing and spacious pub and pleasant 'family-type' decor, suitable for all ages, unless you want 'super-modern' decor, (which I personally don't want in a pub environment.) Nice atmosphere

Always liked eating at the Marchmont Arms but hadn't been for a while. Visited there Monday lunchtime with friends without prior booking. We were shown to a pleasant spot in the restaurant and given menus. Ordered drinks straight away which promptly arrived. Plenty of food choices but all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food choices which was so tasty. Staff was efficient and friendly with an excellent chef. Will definitely be going back again very soon.

Hosted a fabulous private dining event, looking after us was a fantastic team. Lewis, Becky, Jack and Freya. The evening worked like clockwork with our timings, hats off to the chef for getting all the food out and what delicious food it was. Only small negative is if doing speeches the noise from the bar does have an impact so do bring a little PA system.

We held the wake for my sons funeral here, and it was a great choice. The venue was perfect, the staff were really accommodating , and helped to make sure everything went smoothly . The buffet we ordered was really good ,and all of our guests said they enjoyed it. I would thoroughly recommend this pub.

We were disappointed as I had asked for a quite table in the restaurant. A rowdy bunch of landscape gardeners in their work gear had been relocated from the bar right in the middle of the restaurant. They were loud, language was not great obviously had a few beers .we asked to be moved. It ruined the ambience and experience of what is a nice aesthetic venue.

Had a lovely family meal here and staff went out of their way to make sure we’d the best time. Emily and Jess were exceptional waitresses and dealt with a large group impressively.

I had a Christmas meal here as part of a works party. The Marchmont is a very nice and well kept pud. The outside is very nice, clean and with plenty of parking. The main entrance always feels like you're walking into a stylish country manor house which gives it a great atmosphere. It has a large bar area so we didn't find it difficult to get served. The food was very nice with good portions. The turkey was just right and not too dry. The staff were fantastic and approachable. I will definitely go back.

The team at Marchmont Arms is the best! Elliott, the GM was so welcoming! Will definitely return. It is now my favourite pub 🙂

Had such a fabulous evening here, with the team accommodating our large party of about 60 people with ease. Super well organised, very friendly and great food and service

Fabulous evening with my choir - all 75 of us ! The staff were exceptional and, despite the challenge of feeding us all together, the food was not only delicious, but piping hot too :-) The staff were very flexible on timings to allow for impromptu performances of our repertoire. Guests from the bar came and joined our celebrations at times and the staff were excellent at managing us all. They were there when we needed them and in the background if we didn't. All in all a very lovely festive celebration. Well done everyone !

Came for a Christmas Party with Next Stage Choir. What a fantastic evening. The service was excellent and the staff could not do enough to help. Food was lovely and there was plenty and it arrived nice and hot even though they were serving 70 people. I would highly recommend this for events and I will certainly be back again with my family.

Went there for a beer. It was bitterly cold. I'm sure that they could close off some parts and so keep the bar area warm. Staff friendly with a good selection of beers.

Had lunch on 12th/12/24 food very good but the sevis not so good at the end of the meal we asked for the bill which was £82 which i gave him 85 we waited for the change but he never returned it he put in his tip jar we were doing too give him a £10 tip when he bought the change back so therefore we decided not to leave the tip because he took my change with out being told to keep it very rude?? That he assumed he could keep my change

We had our Christmas Dinner here. There were 30 of us, and the seating in the conservatory was good, with plenty of room. The conservatory was looking very Christmassy with Christmas tree and pretty lights. The starter took a long time to come out, considering we had pre=ordered, and were all there on time. Once it did arrive, I had the mushrooms, and they were tasty and the temperature was hot, as they should be. I had the turkey for my main course, which was nice and hot, as were the roast potatoes and the turnips. However, the sprouts were rock hard, and nobody could eat them, as you could not get them on your fork. I had the pear for desert, which was horrible. It had no taste, and nobody in our party enjoyed it. The service was very good, and the staff worked very hard. There were 30 of us, and we were all served together, and the food was hot. We were given crackers to pull with our desert, which was odd. I think they might have forgotten to put them out earlier. Overall, it was a good evening. I can recommend it for a Christmas meal, just avoid the pear!

Delicious Christmas lunch. Well cooked and good quality food. Staff excellent and attention to detail. Our group had a really good meal.

Great work festive meal, 14 people, served in God time, and took extra care in checking we were happy with meal. Took drinks booking via host tablet, saved us going to bar, as busy on a Saturday evening.

We usually only enjoy lunch at The Marchmont Arms and it never disappoints. However, we've had dinner there a few times recently and last night visited to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. It was fabulous. The location and food are exactly what you'd expect in what is quite a high standard location but what really makes it special are the staff who are not only incredibly friendly, but go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and ensure that you enjoy your visit. We'll certainly be back, and soon!

One of our regular haunts. Of all the places on the Hempstead area this place always has spaces available to book. In summer their large garden allows an army of people to eat here too.

We popped in here around 5 pm, midweek. There were about 7 people in total drinking. The atmosphere was lack lustre as you can imagine. We had an Aspall cider and a medium wine topped up with lemonade. I imagine, this place is rather more busy at weekends. One other thing, the pub is dog friendly.

We had our wedding reception here and we were so pleased with their service. The food and the cocktails were delicious. The staff were very friendly and understanding as we had loads of kids at the party and they also provided paper and creiona for them which I thought that was so lovely. Andreea the manager was very helpful and respectful. We couldn't be happier with them . Definitely will be recommending to others .

Absolutely to notch. Food is incredible. Staff is so friendly . Outside garden is outstanding. Interior a joy. Prices reasonable. And what can I say zbout through drink. Large selection. I'm a bear and I enjoyed it. So you must visit this incredible establishment. Wobbley Bear.

Incredible service for a group of 14 including 4 kids. This is our local pub and we love coming here in summer and winter. Lovely food and atmosphere. The family from London and friends outside London loved the whole setup of the pub and all the different rooms. Thank you to the kind staff for being so accommodating.

Food was great and reasonably priced, with plenty of variety. The staff were great, attentive and polite.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely, relaxed meal here. We would recommend all of the dishes we chose - Chicken Liver & Fig Parfait, Goats Cheese Whiskey Glaze Tatin, British Steak & Malbec Pie, Panzanella Salad topped with Goats Cheese, Our Chocolate Bomb and Vanilla Poached Pear. Polite service from 2 female members of staff. The manager, Elliott, works hard to ensure a very pleasant ambience in this restaurant.

On Thursday, I visited the Marchmont and had the pleasure of being served by Becky. From the moment we walked in, she was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. Her friendly personality brought such a warm and inviting atmosphere to the evening, and she had the perfect balance of professionalism and humor. She was attentive without being overbearing, and her lighthearted jokes had us all laughing throughout the night. It’s clear she truly enjoys what she does, and she really elevated our experience. We’ll definitely be back – thank you, Becky, for a wonderful night!

Just stopped here for a coffee. I had a latte that was served in a tea cup and was barely warm, my partner wanted decaf but they had run out? The furniture in the upper seating area wouldn’t be out of place in a jumble sale, old looking sofas and high tables. When you sit down the table is nearly at shoulder level. There are chip marks everywhere and paint missing. I was watching other people eat with their elbows nearly pointing to the ceiling, it was quite comical. Staff were friendly enough but didn’t want to eat as that would have been incredibly difficult. I recommend that someone in charge sits on one of the sofas and tries to eat or drink something.

This Queen Anne Era former residence, located in the Gade Valley in a rural setting, has ample well-spaced parking. The restaurant seating is spread over several different areas from high-ceilinged and elegantly decorated reception rooms to a bright and light conservatory area. The tables are spacious and well laid up. We were seated and served as soon as we arrived. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu and helpfully recommended the Roast Duo of Beef to me. Our drinks arrived promptly and our order taken. The server was friendly and professional and managed to smile all of the time even though she was very busy with every table full. I had a side salad as a starter which was fresh, crispy and well dressed. Our main courses arrived and it looked very appetising on the plate. All three of us were eating roasts and we shhared a side dish of cauliflower cheese. A dish of green vegetables was brought for us to share. We each had a mini saucepan filled with a hot and flavoursome gravy. The condiments were good with real ground pepper from a mill that worked and generous portions of horse radish sauce. My duo of beef was delicious. The slow cooked blade of beef was so tender and tasty and the 21 day aged sirloin was equally delicious. the sirloin was moist and not overcooked. The portions were generaous and the 'Roast Trimmings'of Yourkshire, carrots, parsnips, and great roast potatoes, were equally tasty. We had beers and wine with our meal and the cost was just over £30 a head which nowadays is remarkably inexpensive. Tips are not included in the bill and we tipped in cash. Overall, if you like a roast dinner, which I do, the food here is excellent and great value for money. Well done Elliot!

We booked Marchmont Arms area by the lower section of the pub for my wife baby shower. Andrea from the beginning was amazing, she was quick to respond prior the event. On the day, she was outstanding. Was always checking in on us and made sure our event was fantastic, definitely someone who goes beyond their means! Chef Christopher dished up delicious meals and even reheated the food a few times. Marchmont is lucky to have Andrea and Chris on their team.

This place is a true gem! We rented one of the spaces for a baby shower, and from the very start, Andrea was incredible. She was flexible, accommodating, and went above and beyond to help make our event perfect. Andrea coordinated seamlessly with her team to keep everything running smoothly, meeting every one of our needs. The food was fantastic, too. Thank you, Andrea—you exemplify what great hospitality should be. As an event organiser who works with various venues, I’ve seen all levels of service, and Marchmont is lucky to have someone like you!

We went here for lunch on Sunday 3rd November, we’re we’re a table of 12 and could see how busy it was when we arrived - they had 200 covers for lunch on that day with several large tables like ours. We were served by Holly who was amazing, attentive without being overbearing and super friendly and helpful - she is a credit to this place! All other staff were also great but she was standout. The food was delicious and hot, it came quickly considering how busy it was, the portions are huge, the roasts delicious! Would really recommend for a great atmosphere, service and food.

Meet friends for lunch, had a lovely round table. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Had the goat cheese starter, with a side of chunky chips. Really delicious and lovely presentation. Very impressed will definitely return.

Delicious food great venue but was basically ignored by the staff. Drinks orders forgotten sat so long waiting for dessert order to be taken we gave up then had to wait another 20 minutes to pay. Shame

I recently went to the Marchmont Arms for dinner with my familiy and we all had such a wonderful evening there. The food was amazing especially the dirty burger, which has changed slightly since the last time we went. The staff were all very professional and impressive. Their new manager is definitely doing a great job with the pub. Will definitely be back :)

Fantastic food, great location. We had Sunday lunch here for the first time and ordered the trio of roasts and a kiddie meal. Everything was delicious - especially the crackling! Very crispy and moreish. The kids menu is good - some nice options and good portion sizes. My little one ate almost everything, which is unusual! All in all, a fantastic experience and we will be back.
