Rooms are very dated and in need of refurbishing asap. They could not find our booking even though we booked direct . We were put in a room which had a connecting door to the next room very loud tv noise and talking as if in our room with us . We had no plug in sink, no shower gel in dispenser however the bed was very comfortable and clean . The staff are very polite and friendly all our meals were excellent the breakfast was excellent lovely location over looking the village green and yes we would stay again this was our second visit with meeting and evening meals with great friends

Had a Sunday roast yesterday and the food was very bad. I had a short rib of beef and struggled to find any meat worth eating as it was surrounded by fat. The potato’s reminded me of the type that come pre peeled in a bag whilst the veg looked like it too had come from a bag too.A cafe along a high street would have been a much better option and a fraction of the price.. truly awful! Will never go back.

Just stayed in the Two Brewers Chipperfield. I was there with my husband for two nights at the beginning of the week, then back again for Sunday evening ready for a flight back to France from Luton. This is the second time we’ve stayed here and unfortunately, as much as I love Chipperfield, it will be our last. Although the pub/hotel looks quaint from outside and the pub/dinning areas are nice enough, the rooms are in a sorry state. We will have stayed in a total of 4 rooms now in this hotel and they’ve all needed major bathroom renovations and a general sprucing up, not to mention buying some decent pillows for guests, instead of hard, cheap foam. The first room we had, the en-suite bathroom tiles which are incredibly outdated, as they are in all the rooms we’ve stayed in, had mildew on them in many places, as did the ceilings, which had clearly been painted over at some point in the past, in a feeble attempt to mask it. The imitation leather headboard was so old, the flakes of the PVC were all over the pillow and we slept as close as possible to the lower end of the bed, so as not to get it in our hair during the night. There is only shower soap available in the shower and by the sink. There are no tissues and no separate shampoo/conditioner/body lotion as you find in even the most run of the mill hotels. The second room, whose door handle had been repaired in such a terrible, slap dash manner, we refused to stay in, because as soon as we entered, there was loud intermittent vibrations/buzzing coming from the bathroom plumbing which could be heard on the landing. On our first visit, I remembered an old couple complaining to the lovely lady in charge of breakfast, that they hadn’t slept a wink because of noise coming from their bathroom’s plumbing. I’m assuming this was the room they stayed in. But they stayed there at the beginning of May. We’re now in September and they clearly have not managed to sort out the problem and either think guests are tone deaf or won’t mind/notice the noise. The room we were then given, smelt of damp, had wallpaper peeling off the wall adjoining the shower. The carpet by my bedside table was threadbare and when I lay in bed, which was on the side of the peeling wallpaper, there was an awful odour of mildew all night long. Now onto the bed; it was a wooden four-poster. The mattress was really lumpy and I could actually feel the springs just under the top layer of material. I have a feeling the mattress is getting on in years. . The restaurant however is very good. Love their food. Would highly recommend it. The staff are generally friendly and efficient. Now I’ve seen some other reviews, some complaining. Some I find astonishingly complimentary. The response to both from 'the owner' is always that they "strive for excellence". Well what can I say.., I guess we all have very different ideas about what "excellence" is.

Found this hotel close to the Warner Brothers Harry Potter studios 15 mins away. It was a lovely countryside setting with a lovely common and church, pub menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner was really good with lots of choice and not too pricey, and the staff we had over those couple of days were Carolyn and Gabby who were so good with our 3 year old and really helpful. Room was nice and clean and bed was comfortable and a fan already set up for us. It was a really lovely stay and would definitely stay again.

A really bad night's stay I'm afraid. First impressions; the pub is huge and very traditional and well presented. Plenty of parking overlooking the green in a lovely village. The pubs decor is very nice, but unfortunately the rooms need lots of work and modernisation. The wallpaper was peeling, tiles missing in the bathroom and holes in the carpet. It was clean but not quite comfortable. All staff were friendly throughout. My chicken burger for dinner wasn't great and very expensive for what it was. The rooms facilities were limited. It was quiet which is great, but the bed was so hard I didn't sleep at all. The best part of the stay was breakfast which was good and arrived quickly. However I unfortunately wouldn't recommend this place for food or to stay

What can i say well...Firstly the location was peaceful and quiet in such a nice clean little village. Secondly the hotel this was not your modernised and had all the quaint features you would expect a small village Pub/Hotel to have - this is exactly what we wanted. Lastly the food.. well what can i say the food was so delicious and fresh i really can't find any fault with it - we ended up eating our main meals here on both days! If you are looking for a nice hotel with wonderful food and service away from the chaos in London but close enough to visit on public transport this is the place to stay.. if we decide to travel back towards London in the future i would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is located through the pub itself. The rooms are large and have everything you need, hot drink facilities, iron, hairdryer, desk, good TV etc. The rooms are a bit worn, in need of new carpets, a deep clean in the bathroom and some wallpaper put back on the wall. The bed was very comfortable and the room temperature was good. In the bar restaurant, it is the usual pub fayre, but the quality is not as good as it claims. I had a pie, of which the crust was too hard, and the mashed potatoes were made of instant mash, which is un called for. The bar setting is cosy with open fires and comfortable seating. The staff are chatty and friendly and prices are as expected. The hollandaise sauce with the poached eggs in the morning was lumpy and not well made. If you are staying for one night, it is fine. Anything longer, I would eat somewhere else.

After not going here for a number of years due to forgetting about it. We decided to book for a Sunday dinner. Having arrived a little early for our booking and the table still occupied we were asked to wait. Absolutely no problem with that. In the meantime we noticed that there was a higher seated table free just to the side and asked if we could have that table instead, the staff said yes sat us down got us some drinks and we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The rest arrived and we sat for a good 15/ 20 mins, until I caught a member of staff who said, you have to order yourself now due to no longer being in the restaurant. Why wasn’t this pointed out when we moved??Why serve us drinks there when we sat down making it seem like table service??? We finally got served at the bar as there only ever seemed to be 1 person serving but running around headless trying to keep up. Any other staff we rude saying I’m not here to serve and take orders. We order some food then to be told, it would be an hours wait due to just seating a large table. Why not warn us when we were ordering drinks and saying can we order food. The food came, bang average could tell the chefs were rushed. Meat was delicious but the rest of it needed to be cooked for a bit longer. Had run out of apple sauce, not sure how a restaurant that’s serving up roast dinners can’t have gallons of the stuff. We order a dessert, 1 Guinness, 2 coffees for after, the pudding turned up half an hour later, again needed another 5 mins in the oven. The drinks took another 3 times of asking before they were done as they said they would bring with the dessert. And claimed we had already had them. Overall it’s seemed like a very understaffed and young team that needed an experienced head to take some pressure off of them. Can’t say I’ll be return in a rush.

We had recently moved to Chipperfield and thought we would give it a try, so we made a booking for a Tuesday evening. When we arrived we were welcomed by the staff & shown to our table past a roaring fireplace. We were given our menus & were advised about the special. We ordered our drinks & these were bought to our table. At this point, we ordered our meals. We were enjoying our food when there was a power cut. Looking out of a window, you could that there all the power was off. All the emergency lighting came on, so you had good visibility. The staff came over a few times to explain to us what was happening. The manager came over after about 15 to 20 minutes to let us know that, due no power, they would not be able to serve our food and any more drinks. This they apologised for . We stayed a little while longer to finish our drinks . We ended up getting a takeaway from Kings Langley. On the following Wednesday, we booked a table for the Sunday evening. The menu was slightly different & we chose the Trio of roasts & a sirloin of beef roast. These meals were lovely & well worth the return. I didn't have a pudding as the main meal was enough for me. We will be back soon. Thank you for your great customer service .

Arriving at 6pm on New Year’s Day, we were hoping to have a lovely meal. When we asked for a table for 2, the waitress told us to just wait a sec whilst she checked with her manager. She returned to tell us the kitchen was closing so they can’t accommodate us. We decided to have a drink at the bar anyway. Shortly after a family of 6 walks in and were seated and handed menus. I went over to the manager Kate to ask her why we were told no yet the table is being served - she said as they have booked they can order and we can’t. So what this really means is - Kate had a choice and she chose not to serve us. Disgusting - we were warned off this pub, and will now take heed of locals advice - avoid at all costs.

From the outside and first impressions as we entered the premises were favourable. However, we waited a long time before anyone appeared at the reception. The bedroom had very comfortable beds and the linen was lovely. But, the room itself was in desperate need of decoration. The wallpaper was hanging off the wall in several places and there was untreated mold in the wardrobe. I didn't feel I could hang clothes in there. Breakfast was average. No offer of a refill of coffee and no additional toast or marmalade. Our evening meal was average. Nothing to shout about.
