Great breakfast i had a set breakfast 😋 Sautéed potatoes 👌🏽 amazing coffee. Highly recommend, can't wait to return.

We hired these guys to do our wedding breakfast. We had a New York theme and wanted to have a relaxed day with nothing too fancy so we decided on pizza. Heard great reviews so went ahead. The weather was beyond awful and the team struggled to cope. I was always worried it would rain and reassured they would set up the tent as close to the marquee as possible so the guests wouldn’t get wet. They couldn’t set up the tent because of the wind, something that hadn’t been considered. Overall they tried hard with the pizzas, cooking them then running them into the marquee but it was a shambles and people waited ages for pizza. In the meantime they ran out of side salads when we were only halfway through serving. I had ordered salads for 80 and was reassured it was enough food. We had 70 guests and still ran out only feed half of them. Embarrassing to say the least. We had to ask our evening caters to start serving early! When I wrote to them after the wedding to say thank you but i was disappointed I was simply told the guests eat too much not leaving enough for others.

Lovely, welcoming stop halfway round my cycle route. Friendly staff, delicious home-made cakes and decent coffee. Enjoyed a very tasty “brockie” (brownie/cookie combo) with my cappuccino today.

Good location in Bovingdon with small car park and some off-road parking nearby. Plenty of options, food is well-presented (lots of food colouring, which is standard and expected), all appears freshly cooked. The service is friendly - they always check in on you. Nice range of dessert options, which is rare! Well worth a visit if you are craving a curry. I prefer a spicier option as these tend to be more flavourful. I would not opt for mild unless you really cannot tolerate spice. Friendly suggestion would be to add some herbs to mild dishes & serve the dishes a little hotter, if at all possible. Been several times and will be back.

Update October 2024 : The pub now has a new Landlady, one Sue Adams. The late opening hours have reduced a bit, more inline with other pubs but otherwise all fine so far and we now have attractive barmaids at busy times 😊 Food provision is not up and running yet but is imminent says Sue. Update August 2024 : Sadly, the landlord David Clark is retiring at the end of September 2024. Will whoever takes it over still open as late as he does, creating that nish drinking opportunity. Update April 2022 : The pub is basically back to normal as a proper pub, with no social distancing restrictions etc. Food is no longer served in the evenings, just lunchtime. The pub cat Windy has sadly since died. Currently, I am trying to persuade Landlord Dave to stock some decent low alcohol bottled bitters e.g. Old Specked Hen 0.5%, which knocks spots off the Heineken lager versions. Last orders are now more strictly enforced at 11.30pm most days. Original review during lockdown : I only came by to photograph the post box for Google Maps and found the pub outside all stripped back to the bare cement colour, so an opertunity for a new suite of pub outside photos for Maps. A new fenced-in outside tables layout has appeared to encourage social distancing during the post COVID-19 virus lockdown, ready for the predicted 4th July 2020 reopening. The outside smokers area with heater and awning is being moved from front roadside to the rear. The landlord Dave said the internal woodwork was in the process of being rubbed down, but I wasn't going in there during lockdown, so we will have to wait with curiosity on the pub's final new look. So gutted to hear this lovely place has closed down. How sad. They were so popular too! The best scotch eggs around & apple strudel as well as the baklava! Where shall we go now?! Thanks for all the happy memories there and the great service too!

A great night out. The staff were lovely. A band called Common People played outside....good music, lots of dancing and smiling faces

The food is wonderful! On Google Maps it is still listed as Common Ground. Since Melissa took over, it has been called The Cake Shack. The space is cosy but there is outdoor seating for warmer days or you have your dog with you.

My fiancee and I had afternoon tea at Par 3 this afternoon. It was excellent with delicate sandwiches and far too many scones, jam and cream. The price was very reasonable too, just remember to book (at least an hour) as they make things fresh. Brilliant after a round of golf!

Very cozy atmosphere giving the typical British Pub feeling. Service was great and so was the food. The chicken wings we ordered were awesome and so was the fish & chips. Food and drinks are reasonably priced.

A lovely stay for my husband and myself whilst visiting family .. thank you! The room was lovely and breakfast was fantastic x staff were really welcoming .. we will be back xx
