Personalized service at breakfast, hot and continental both served. The place is conveniently located near a couple nice restaurants and the train station within walking distance. Ideal place to stay, park your car for free and take the train to the city of London for hassle-free walk around or visit some attractions. Or drive to the Cotswold Wildlife Animal Park or the West Stow Anglo-Saxon village.

Recently stayed at Boxmoor while working in the area. Best accommodation I’ve found in Hemel & walking distance from the station. Very friendly, accommodating and spotlessly clean. Rooms cleaned daily and very comfortable. Would recommend. Thanks for everything.

Very disappointed food was mixed veggie and non veggie the guy who owns it is the most ignorant person on this planet so up helpful and a money merchant namely Mark he pocketed the £700 we gave him no receipt and then spent another £500 in the bat are very very very disappointed don't recommend this place

Visited on Saturday evening for Mother’s Day meal. My 18 yr daughter has multiple severe food allergies and was catered for safely and perfectly with delicious rack of lamb followed by amazing dark chocolate marquis. My 22 yr old daughter is vegan and was also extremely pleased with her delicious meal and claims it was the best vegan chocolate brownie ever tasted! All other meals including fish and chips and Boxmoor pie were equally delicious and plentiful. Our waitress Kirsty was also very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely Sunday roast today. Meat was beautiful and veg was cooked to perfection. Really friendly helpful staff who made us felak really welcome. Great value for money

We had Sunday lunch here. I ordered a spicy tomato juice which seemed to astound and confuse the waitress. When it came it was a boring glass three quarters full of tepid juice with a couple of drops of tabasco in it. Pretty unappetising. So I asked for some ice and some more tabasco and a stirrer. I then asked for a lemonade and had to make sure to ask for ice. Just poor. Starters were good. We had goats cheese parcels and a ham terrine all of which was really tasty. We all had roast beef which was fine. Potatoes and parsnips were good and the yorkshire pudding was excellent. Slices of beef were a bit thin for me but was well cooked. Vegetables were a bit thin on the ground and overcooked for my taste. Went to the gents which looks like it was last refurbished in 1975.

The conservatory is built onto the original building, and has pleasant views from the tables. We had a choice of cereals, fruits, yoghurts to start with, followed by a cooked breakfast and toast, accompanied with tea or coffee. The meal was relaxed and service was prompt.

We did not stay so cannot comment on rooms. We used the restaurant for our evening meal. Food; I have a food allergy and the staff we extremely helpful. Tiger prawns great. Lamb roularde too much of the fatty muscle used in keeping it round, but otherwise tasty. Rare steak filet a bit dry; no expected meat juices.Fish and chips good. Turriene chicken and ham much liked. It was a bit noisy as our meal coincided with a children's 14th birthday party, which did not appear to be supervised except by staff. When the bill came they had already added an automatic 10% gratuity, not compulsory but we had to ask for it to be removed. I prefer to tip on my own terms!

Quite like this hotel as it offers something different to the big chains. The rooms can be a bit dated and it’s pot luck as to what you get when you check in, but they are clean and warm. The food here is pretty good and the service is bob on.

Went here on Friday 22 December for work lunch. Staff welcoming and quite understanding as one of our party was late. Very warm in the conservatory. Seating a bit snug! Food was tasty and well presented. Piping hot. Good sized portions. Unfortunately some of us had forgotten what we ordered but staff produced a copy of our orders so great help. Would recommend for future and good value.

Last Sunday we celebrated my mums birthday with Sunday Lunch in the conservatory restaurant and we were all very happy with our lunch. There were 10 of us and we all said that the food was delicious - especially the deserts. The waitresses were very attentive and polite. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a Sunday lunch for a special occasion.

Another lovely wedding at Boxmoor Lodge this weekend. A wonderful venue. Great food, lovely intimate space for the ceremony ( about 100 guests I think) then on to the dinner and disco at the party part of the place which is in the "marquee". This is a beautiful place for a party, with a dance floor, wide bar and large area which was used for the wedding meal. Fabulous place for a wedding.

On Sunday we celebrated a Birthday at Boxmoor Lodge with our family and none of us were disappointed. The meals were excellent, served hot with many of us having different choices. The sweets that followed were to die for!. It is always a pleasure to go to this Restaurant - well done to the Management, kitchen staff and the girls that served us!

In our search for something new every Friday, we though we would go upmarket to celebrate our move to Hemel a year ago. Small table but other wise really well looked after. This place new how to look after the wine. Chose a good bottle of Rioja, and it was immediately decantered, a jug of water and we were happy to settle into a nice choice of veggy options. Nice choice, £103 for two, 3 courses.

Stopped here a couple of nights and had breakfast in the pleasant conservatory. It was a very good cooked breakfast, not greasy at all, and friendly staff.

Very good meal in nice surroundings. Friendly staff and good service, couldn't fault it. We enjoyed a salmon and Prawn Coctail followed by a classic Sunday Roast. A good bottle of red wine too, total cost £70 which we thought reasonable.

Domingo almuerzo (tuve whitebait, seguido de carne asada) era impresionante, perfectamente cocinados y bien presentados, muy sabrosa. Noche menú también preciosa elección, tuve la carne (delicioso y perfectamente cocinado) y mejillones para comenzar. . Aunque estaban un poco soso, y otras personas empezar parecía delicioso. Buen servicio y una buena selección de bebidas. No es barato, pero el chef tiene el talento!

On arriving at the Boxmoor Lodge there was a function so no parking available in the Lodge car park. We parked in the Swan Antique shop next door, I noted others were parking on the road outside on the double yellows!!We were eating at the Conservatory restaurant - this was our second visit.We were given the menus and we realised there were inconsistents between the 5 menus, some dishes had different accompaniments!The starters were all good and the mains were fine except for one of the rump steaks where one of our party had to ask for a steak knife and then had to send it back – this caused issues with the waiting staff who then became surly with us.Another steak was produced about 5 mins after everyone else had finished eating. The price of one dessert was subtracted from the bill.I wouldn’t rush back!

A lovely setting with great service and very special food- looking forward to repeating the experience in a couple of weeks - the creme brule of the day is a particular highlight but for quality and value difficult to fault. You won't regret booking in here!!

I ate here with friends when staying over at the hotel. The food was absolutely lovely - well presented, perfectly cooked, and worth five stars in my book! The service was also exceptional, I would definitely eat here again.

My family and I visited Boxmoor Lodge restaurant after my darling Dad's funeral.The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We liked it so much we have booked to go again on what would have been my Dad's 80th Birthday.

The food was very nice.and a very good service from the staff.however not impressed by poor access for disabled visitors. Steps up to seating area and more steps to access washrooms.sadly won't revisit.

We had a great evening "Company Do". Lovely friendly staff made us feel very welcome on our arrival. The decorations on our long table were lovely as was the whole establishment.It is not easy to bring all the food quickly to a big table but this was accomplished with precision.All 3 courses were really nice, everyone really enjoyed the food.The atmosphere was great, real Christmas feel, and the rocket balloons were such a laugh.Full marks to the staff and management, for a great evening.WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Was looking forward to the Christmas dinner with all our friends but was left disappointed.The reasons for this are:Chairs far to close together no room to eat properly.Ended up passing all the plates,cutery etc over the table from each course to the waitress as she couldn't get behind our chairs,spent most of the evening doing this very disappointed.Far to hot in the restaurant asked to turn it down was met with the reply cannot please all the customers.Waitress was giving the meals to the people on aisle side to pass them over,this spoilt the evening.Food very well presented and very tasty.Would not return.

There is no doubt: this is the best place in Hemel. Service is warm and effective while the food is amazing: great starter, home made bread and a very good meat.Ice cream above all.I've seen this place improving a lot and I am glad it is now constantly good.Highly recommended.M.

We visited Friday for my mothers birthday, the restaurant was quiet, three tables in total -10 covers!On the whole service was good.The quantity of food per portion varied, some dished were massive (prawns/ croquettes) and some dainty haute cuisine like (beetroot/ chicken). The dishes were all tasty but I think the restaurant is confused!The wine is reasonably priced, although the white wine we ordered took ages to arrive and then it wasn't chilled sufficiently!We had a nice meal and I'm sure at somepoint we will return, however, I won't rush!

Two night stay and ate both nights in the restaurant, lovely meals on both occations, nom nom, Staff always willing to help and advise if you have special needs

This restaurant is in the Boxmoor Lodge hotel, which describes it as "traditional". I agree; it is good British cuisine, well prepared and presented. The staff are friendly and reasonably efficient.You won't find a gastronomic adventure here, but you are unlikely to leave hungry.

Took Mum and Dad here for there 65th Wedding Anniversary for Sunday dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. Unfortunately there was a party celebrating a 60th birthday who absolutely ruined the atmosphere, trying to take over the restaurant, the level of noise they made you would think you were at a kids party. Also one of the diners hit my 86 year old father on the head with his elbow and didn't even apologise. The waitress was amazing and stood behind my father protecting him! Having said all that I would go back for the food was so good as was the service.

Well what can I say I'm stopping at the boxmoor lodge hotel while working away yet again... this review is particularly for the conservatory restaurant..I just ordered a sirloin steak new potatoes with pepper sauce wow just wow it was the first thing I have eaten all day and savoured every moment of it... Compliments to the chief I would give the restaurant 5* all day everyday the staff are fantastic the young lady made me feel at home and was polite impressed ... All together a great meal prepared by lovely people will re visit thanks Stuart

Went for Sunday lunch with family for birthday celebration. We could not fault the food or the service and the lovely surroundings. The grandchildren ate all their food ( which is unusual) which for children's portions were very generous. 12 year old granddaughter only wanted chicken which was not on the menu but the chef cooked a chicken breast specially for her which she loved. A very enjoyable lunch. The asparagus starter was delicious as was the soup and prawns and salmon. Very nice bread selection too.4 of us had the lamb which was gorgeous and another had the beef which was excellent. There were plenty of beautifully cooked vegetables Lovely desserts. We will be booking again for another birthday celebration this year. Highly recommend 5 stars

Was looking forward to a celebration for my sons birthday but was telephoned in the preceding week to say my reservation was cancelled due to staff shortage and a wedding ! Obviously hadn't heard of agency staff!Never had this happen before ,would not ever bother with this restaurant again!

Went for a quiet meal and was not disappointed. Lovely place, with good atmosphere. Food was very good as was the service. Staff very polite and attentive but not over the top. A very nice experience. Will be back

Took family visiting from abroad for Sunday lunch to the place we had our wedding reception and we could not have chosen a better place. The meat was just fantastic, a lovely piece of beef with lovely accompliments. Will definately visit for Sunday lunch again in the near future. Lovely staff and very attentive.

Met friends for Sunday lunch and booked this simply because it was convenient for everyone to get there. Food was really good though and despite different tastes everyone was happy with their meal. Service very friendly but I got the impression it was our waitresses first day as she needed to check on almost every question we had...be it wine, beer or food. That wasn't a problem though as she was supported well and someone got back to us very quickly. I hope we will get to go again soon.

Booked table online and received an email confirmation. Ordered drinks at the bar on arrival then sat in a lounge where we were able to peruse the menu while having a drink in a relaxed friendly environment. There were a number of specials offered which were described in detail. Choice was difficult to make as there was such a variety of food available. Finally chose pea and mint soup followed by rump of lamb. Food, as always, outstanding. Service excellent and staff extremely friendly.

I came for Mother's Day with my sister and mum. The booking was straight forward, easy and the receptionist on the phone was wonderful! She noted down that it was for a special event, even asked if we would like anything put out for the table and the arrival, such as balloons or presents. We all had a starter, main and desert. The food was absolutely amazing, the portions were huge! we didn't have to wait long at all even though it was fully booked!! I couldn't fault the food or service in any way! It really was brilliant, they were so polite - I really feel like they went the extra mile to make sure we had a lovely dinner!. even at the end my mum chose to keep some of the left overs for the dog and they even picked of what was left off the meat and put in a bag for us! the waitresses were lovely!!. Overall: would I come back yes! I have already booked in for their Sunday dinner!! Thank you for such a lovely dinner!!!

This was a family dinner for eight. I am struggling to write much that is positive. When we arrived, there was very very little parking left - apparently there was a wedding in another building. The car park was poorly lit and when I asked where others in our group could park, I was informed that either in the next door antiques car park or up the hill, neither of which sounded great seeing as it was pouring with rain. One waitress was great (dark hair). The starters apart from the mushroom and brie dish which was dry and uninteresting, were generally good. The mains - steaks were tough, we had ordered four - one went back and was replaced with fish with no quibble and handled well... but a pity it couldn't have been a better quality to start with because it when there is a complaint, no matter that it is replaced, time passes and others have finished their meal. The lamb was tough. Apparently, the guinea fowl was good as was the vegetarian dish. The coffee machine was right next to our table and the noise was unbelievably loud. Why have the coffee machine in the dining room? My overall view - very mediocre on the food front - apart from one waitress mediocre on the staff front. The toilet (there is only one) is up a set of winding stairs without good support and past everybody's coats (so don't leave any valuables in your pockets) and the windows are not frosted. Would I come here again? No.

We had our Sunday lunch at Boxmoor Lodge and we were not disappointed. The service, food and surroundings are excellent. It is one of the best restaurant in the area.

We booked Sunday lunch here with my parents and received excellent service from two welcoming ladies.There is a wide choice on the menu and the food was plentiful and delicious, beautifully presented, with very tasty, tender beef and lamb and a good selection of vegetables.The puddings were superb - a very zingy lemon tart with a generous serving of mascarpone cream, and the cherry sponge was moist and flavoursome. The men enjoyed the cheeseboard which offered Cheddar, Brie and a blue cheese with plenty of crackers and grapes.There was a good choice of drinks, the service was prompt and friendly and the food excellent (and well-priced). We'll definitely be back.

Having recently moved to Hemel Hempstead from West London, my wife and I were keen to try out the Conservatory Restaurant as we were intrigued by their excellent a la carte menu. For Valentine's Day, however, yhey had a set menu (as most restaurants do) and I opted for this restaurant over any other as I felt the choices were varied enough for my wife and I.The restaurant was stylishly decorated for Valentine's Day and they had a Valentine's Day balloon for the couples to take away on all the tables, which was a nice touch.The meal itself was excellent and exactly what I would expect of a fine dining restaurant. The starters and mains were not run of the mill affairs and were very well cooked. The desserts came out with sparklers in them, which was another great touch. Service-wise I thought the staff were very polite and friendly, offering what I felt was a more personal and family-run experience. The only thing that (pleasantly!) surprised me at the end of the evening was the bill - I would usually expect to pay a good deal more for a meal of that quality.Needless to say I will not hesitate to return to the Conservatory Restaurant at Boxmoor Lodge.

Booked for a small family lunch. Lovely welcome from the staff. Nice friendly atmosphere and good interaction from waiting staff. Food was lovely fresh produce and and cooked well. Could not have asked for a better family lunch thank you all the staff involved.

The restaurant looked beautiful with the colour co-ordinating Christmas decorations and table settings, when we went for our Christmas lunch. The service was friendly and the food good but not outstanding. The only problem was the acoustics. The restaurant was crowded and noisy and it was difficult to hear one another.

Lovely meal for my sisters 50th birthday, we enjoyed it Very much and the staff were excellent. I have a gluten intolerance and always take gluten free crackers for cheese. I was amazed that they had some and also offered me bread and a roll and were very knowledgable. We will go again.

Food is delicious cooked to order by proper chefs food is top notch well worth it if you decide to stay the night it's the best hotel you will ever stay at staff will do everything you ask to make you welcome .

Surprised at the quality and presentation of a superb menu for a small group of northern friends and family celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary

Staff very friendly and accommodating. Menu does not cater for vegans but they will adapt it for them if asked.

Party catering is always the hardest test for a restaurant. To serve everyone quickly and also to offer second helpings is a sign of a well organised kitchen. The food is excellent and hot. All the Guests have heaped compliments onto Mark, Stuart and the team. We have already booked to come for a normal evening meal.

I have been staying at Boxmoor Lodge once again and just need to report that, as always, the place is very welcoming. Luckily no wedding ceremony/reception this weekend. But on this occasion can I report that breakfast is a real treat - as it is served in the conservatory restaurant and everything is freshly prepared. The staff really are very welcoming and helpful. We came here after reading the reviews and deciding to try. The decor is stuck somewhere in the eighties and the tables are a bit formal with white table clothes, but the staff are friendly. The food was fantastic, better than we had expected. We went for Sunday lunch, which is amazing value for money, and beautifully presented. If you like good food this is the place to come, the only odd thing was a very large man that turned up later in the afternoon ( I assume he was the energy or the manager) and started clearing tables while chewing gum - this didn't detract from the fab food though.

Excellent food by Stuart and the team, makes for a very comfortable evening in friendly surroundings.

Food here is of an excellent standard, good choice on Menu and everything served in a Beautful Dinning Room with a very nice outside Terrace adjacent to the dinning room. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for one night and as we arrived fairly late in the evening, exhausted and hungry, we were not very excited about driving around looking for somewhere to eat. They had room for us at their restaurant and so we ate there, and we are very glad we did. There were five of us and we all enjoyed our dinner very much. The people are very friendly and never made us feel rushed or hurried, even though we were the last diners. It is fairly cozy but not too crowded. Breakfast the next morning was delicious as well. We had the full English breakfast, plus fruit and muffins, etc. Overall highly recommended.

Nice small dining room and better than you'd expect from a small lodge. Still the service and cooking feels very personal, almost like a home cooked meal with restaurant touch.

I am in Hemel every week and I used to eat at boxmoore lodge for the great ice cream. In the last months I did not come and I was really surpreased last week when I found a big improvement in the quality of the food which makes now boxmore lodge a perfect place to dine.The meet is now also tasty, the dish presentation improved a lot, while the service is still warm, kind and at the same time easy.They keep on bake theme selves the bread.The wiskys selections is also good.The price is adequate.In a nutshell: the boxmore lodge is definitively now the best restaurant in Hemel if you look for a great steak and a fantastic ice cream to close. All in a relaxed place (or romantic if you are there not like me in a business trip), elegant environment, and with a good service despite easy.Definitively recommended.M.

Having been here for Sunday lunch several times before a family group of nine of us returned recently for a repeat experience and were not disappointed. The menu is fairly limited in choice but this means that all the available dishes are fresh and well prepared. Between us I think we sampled most of the starters and no one was disappointed. We all had roasts to follow. My beef was a little too well cooked for my liking but it still tasted good. Others had pork or lamb both of which were good. All roasts were served with large fluffy Yorkshires, good roast potatoes and nice vegetables that were not over-cooked, as is so often the case in some places. Those of us who had room after the large main courses sampled the various desserts on offer which concluded the meal very pleasantly. There is a small, well selected, wine list at very reasonable prices. Some of us chose the Pinot Noir which complemented the beef especially well. Others had soft drinks and there was a plenteous supply of bottled water also available.The conservatory is a lovely setting for a meal and was well laid out with freshly laundered white linen on the tables. The service was efficient and friendly without being obtrusive and when the bill arrived it did not include the (hated by me) "discretionary service charge", which left us free to tip as we chose.All in all a pleasant Sunday afternoon lunching experience and we will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed 1 night at this hotel, booked a table for 4 no trouble. Staff very friendly and attentive. Limited menu and quite pricey, we chose the Boxmoor Burger and Chicken Supreme and all very nice, would have struggled for choice if we were staying another night.

We were going to go somewhere else fro my Birthday meal this year, but every time I rang, the phone was engaged, so I decided to try here again. No problem, got a table, and the food was as good as ever. Prompt service, not waiting for ages between courses, and they were serving a large party at one table.The restaurant is nn the small side,and it can be a bit noisy if there is a large group, but the food is so good,and beautifully presented. Always good for a special meal

Went for a family meal here to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday. The staff were so attentive and couldn't be more helpful. The food was absolutely spot on. I would definitely like to visit here again and would recommend. Note:- the bar area was really small and the room off it was small and already full when we arrived. We didn't have to wait for our table luckily so what I'm saying is, I wouldn't arrive too early before the time of your meal.

I'm vegetarian and sadly this means that meals out tend to be unimaginative and dull. But this meal was superb from beginning to end: imaginative food with wonderful flavours, beautifully served.

We meet here for breakfast every few weeks. Nicely presented tables in a nice building , welcoming to non-residents, good straightforward full-english plus a small buffet for cereals and fruit. Open early enough to eat on the way to work ( don't you just hate places that advertise breakfast and then say " open from 9.30 !) . When we arrive at 7.45 they are already in full-swing. Easy to park.

We had a very enjoyable three-course Sunday lunch for three couples. The food was very good and the service was efficient and friendly. We shall certainly go again.

My title says it all. excellent, friendly professional service from start to finish. Having stayed in several 'chain' hotels this year on business where you are just a number, I chose Boxmoor Lodge principally from their website and reviews on here. With family along for the journey, it looked the perfect place and we were not disappointed.We had an exquisite family room with a four-poster bed for LESS than any chain hotel was charging, including 3 cooked breakfasts ( I have paid up to £20 for breakfast separately in Premier Inn). The 3 course evening meal for 7 was to die for ( try the Haddock and Stout Bread starter and thank me later). 6 of us has steak and it was worth every penny. Excellent service all round.Next time you need to stay in The Hemel area do try this place before you look anywhere else. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

We got married at the Boxmoor Lodge in September 2014 and it was just perfect. We chose this as the venue primarily due to the fact that they were flexible and understanding of our requirements, provide great food and first class service!We had our Ceremony in the Conservatory followed by a 3-course reception for 85 in the Marquee. So many of our guests have remarked not only how stunning the Marquee looked, but also praised the quality of the food which was served piping hot! Even the buffet served later in the evening was of a very high standard, and plenty of it.We would particularly like to thank Mark and Cheryl for all their help and attention to detail as the day approached and of course on the day itself. The chefs did a fantastic job and as other people have mentioned all the staff are friendly and polite.My wife and I would like to say a big thank you for making our day so memorable!

you can always expect top service here & meals to match at reasonable rates. I have dined here as a couple, had family event here and also a Christmas Dinner. Never been disappointed & wish them well as I have moved away. Would always choose if in the area again. Top Class.

Over the years we have been to this restaurant a number of times but this most recent meal was one of the best we have had. There were 3 of us & we all had the smoked haddock, shrimp & hen's egg starter which was absolutely delicious. We all had different main courses which were all good. None of us had room for pudding. Service was excellent and as other reviewers have commented attentive but not intrusive. Would definitly go back soon hopefully.

The dinner choices on the menu were varied and the standard of the food was very good. The waiter was very polite and friendly, and attentive without being obsequious.

We went to the Boxmoor Lodge for dinner on a Saturday night and had a great time. The staff saw to our every need and the food was delicious. There was a large group there at the same time as our little dinner for two, so you may want to ask if there will be a large party there during your booked time.The parking was a little tight as the restaurant shares parking spaces with the hotel and the function room and all three were busy on a Saturday night. Be careful as you enter the car park as there are two narrow entrances, neither is labelled as entrance or exit, and one is near a busy junction with a signal light. It's best to use the entrance farther from the junction to enter, and then exit by the junction.

The head waitress was very good, the remainder of staff very amateurish, and not very efficient. Some aspects of the food very poor, very few prawns and sauce in the Prawn Cocktail, some of the meat in the main coarse was cut very thick, looking very unappetising, very little gravy on each plate. The apple pie was luke warm with watery custard, the cheesecake was hashed up in a glass, very poor. All in our party agreed the quality of the meal was not as good as when we last vsited, a few months ago.

Found this place from the internet, had good reviews so thought we would give it a try. We went along for Sunday lunch with the family and had a very nice meal. We had the traditional Sunday Roast which I would thoroughly recommend. Waitress service was very tentative but we did think they could have dressed a little smarter. Other than that no complaints what so ever, and we will be returning.

We booked to dine in the marquee on Valentine's Night. Yes - a marquee on the night of a bad storm! However the wind hadn't really got up when we arrived. The marquee looked great, they had really made an effort and the staff were very friendly - giving us two free drinks on arrival, instead of one! We had pre chosen our food and it was all lovely and good value for money. I would recommend this restaurant. They had also hired a singer and he was good as well.PS the wind got worse and worse but the marquee was still standing when we left!

We regularly pass the Boxmoor Lodge. Local reviews were very positive, so when their recent Valentine's Day promotion coincided with our wedding anniversary, we decide to give it a go. A very friendly and efficient welcome on arrival. Unfortunately our romantic dinner for two was not to be as a large party of 25 plus completely dominated the restaurant - not I hasten to add the fault of the group. Tables for two were squashed around the edges of the room and constantly being bumped as guests from the party moved around the restaurant. Why promote a Valentines Day event implying couples, then take such a large party booking? On the food front, our starters and puds were very good but the overall meal was let down by the main course - pricey and apparently well sourced steaks were not well cooked and lacked real flavour. We made the best of our evening out but not really what we had been hoping for. Disappointing.

I used Trip Advisor to find a restaurant half way between my parents and us so we could have a get together. Boxmoor Lodge had some good reviews so we decided to try it for Sunday lunch.On arrival we were met by friendly people who took our coats, we ordered a drink at the bar and then sat down in a comfy lounge with menus. Once our table was ready we found a really nicely made up table and the first course arrived. Between the 5 of us we did over half the menu and every single item was superbly cooked, no complaints and empty plates. Service during the meal was just right, Whenever we wanted anything there was no waiting for ages, nor was there the "is everything OK?" every five minutes. Just attentive, friendly and helpful. The bill was very reasonable for what we had and overall I cannot find anything to fault. My only complaint is there were too many things on the menu I liked so I had a difficult choice. Just have to go back again. For the staff at Boxmoor Lodge, thank you very much for a lovely time and we will definitely be back.

Once again we booked the Restaurant for our Christmas lunch with 19 ladies from our keep fit class and we were not disappointed. The food was hot, plentiful and well presented. The sweets were to die for, with coffee and mints to follow. Well done to the chef and staff for a very enjoyable experience.

Had Christmas lunch for 6 of us, food was very tasty and plentiful, was not hurried. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonably priced.

Enjoyed a really lovely meal here. Service was second to none and the food was really good. The restaurant was nearly empty so this is an undiscovered gem. Will definitely be visiting again especially as we can walk there!
