Great fish n chips, parking difficult especially on Fridays.

High quality Fish & Chips. Actually some of the best chips I have had from any chip shop, CRISPY & fluffy! Fish perfectly cooked (with skin on👌🏼) Good location next to Berkhamsted Train Station with car park spaces in front. Good portion sizes. They have the option to eat-in too. Money well spent!

Had haddock and tasted like it had been frozen then defrosted. Also the fish had skin on. Also don’t expect to find bones however there were 3 and this finally put me off eating the rest of the fish.Chips ok not the best but edible. Mushy peas again not the best but edible. Was recommended to come here as my usual local fish and chips was closed. Was disappointed which is such a shame as had high hopes.

Lovely bunch of guys working there, always friendly, always great customer service, it's always nice over an evening to get some chips and go to the train station to eat them while watching the trains. Very clean, very tasty and very polite!

Very disappointing, how can you get fish and especially chips so wrong…! Fish is dry, over cooked, chips are really disgusting, taste almost off…! We won’t be returning. Expensive. What a waste of money!!!

Good food, good portions, good prices only thing we didn't like was that when you have open chips they put salt and vinegar on the top after they've wrapped it, so bottom ones don't get anything on, I would recommend asking them to put salt and vinegar on before they wrap

I got battered sausage and chips and they were very tasty and the chips had lots of salt and vinegar and the same for the battered sausage and they were both very crisp and delicious and the staff were very friendly and fast st cooking and the food wad very cheap for its price and the fish and chip shop itself was very clean

...# disappointed, I asked to use the salt and vinegar myself and was refused twice, staff member insisted on doing it himself even though there were bottles on the counter that appeared to be for customers use ( he seemed quite angry ) he put the wrong amount on so sadly ruined it. He then squashed the fish (as if it had personally offended him) muttered continously whilst wrapping it (as if he was trying to curse it) and then virtually threw it at me onto the counter. Very bizarre & disappointing culinary experience as I'm working with a film crew in the area so it's nice to have good food when we are away from home doing long hours . This wasn't it ... Have to say however, that the staff member who served me had an attitude so bad it reminded me of being served by Basil Fawlty 😆 Worth visiting just for the experience of the staff members bearded tantrums and lack of customer service 😆

Lovley little chippy next to the train station, definitely worth picking up something up if you don't fancy cooking! Clean, crispy batter, large fish, thick chips what's not to like. The inside was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and fast.

I'm vegan and gluten-free and eat healthily but allow myself their chips once a month because they are perfect.

Only bought chips (£2:80) freshly cooked, however a slightly strange taste. The fish is expensive compared to some other quality fish shops.

Food is pretty decent ~ I had a (generous) portion of chips and a battered sausage ~ and their service is usually prompt, occasionally with a short wait if they need to fry extra for your order.

Lovely fish and chips. Sadly I was a bit late and it had been a busy night there so limited choice of menu, but it was recommended to me and it was very much worth the visit. Definitely recommended from me 👍🏻

I got a fish and chip supper for the residents of my care home I work at the beginning of the month,they all couldn't stop singing your praises how fresh and delicious it was. Never seen so many clean plates. Such a pleasure dealing with you. Hopefully be back in the not to distant future. Thanks again from all the residents of Ashlyns care home.

The food is pretty good, but I find the staff are always a little abrupt. Agree with the review that salt and vinegar should be available for people to accommodate their own tastes. Also think it's a little off to charge so much extra for ketchup/mayo. Find it fairly pricey by comparison to others in the area. Honestly I prefer Ocean's in Tring.

Stopped in for a bite to eat after a hike with a friend. The place was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered two large cod and chips. Delicious and well worth the price. The Cod were enormous! Fortunately, we had our dogs with us to help out with the leftovers!

Medium Cod and chips = huge portion and freshly cooked, so lovely. Danny wouldn't be impressed as no gravy, beans, or dandelion and burdock. But for Hertfordshire, pretty darn good!

Couldn't believe it in 2021, and during a pandemic, that a fish bar and cafe would be cash only. No signs that i noticed, nothing on the website, but when i ordered fish and chips and took out my card i was told it was cash only. As none of us had cash we walked away and probably won't go back.

CASH ONLY? REALLY? food was lovely,very clean and hygienic shop BUT most of the restaurants or takeawy don't accept cash yet and this guys still trying to be smart by avoiding a card machine and little extra charges which is nothing.its 10 minute walk to nearest ATM machine.

So my partner and I had high expectations of this place which definitely was not met today. The staff are not friendly and are very impolite. The chips were not as nice as the other chip shops in the area and the sausage, saveloy and the sausage in batter was over cooked and dry. We will not be going back here as it wasn’t a pleasant experience and the food isn’t great. I do advise them being more polite to their customers as manners cost nothing.

In a great place by the station, however the portion sizes are massive and there is too much salt put onto the chips. There is no fault with the food as it's probably the best fish and chip shop in town. Also be aware that they don't accept card

Can't understand the high ratings for this place. I found it disappointing. The plaice I had was nice and moist but it came in a thick crust of tasteless, oily batter. The mushy peas were bland and the chips oily and tasteless.

Only cash, nice chips and chicken nuggets, good fish. We didn’t get ketchup (usually it’s added by default in other places) and found none at home. That was a shame, but the chippy is good. Would be amazing if they asked about ketchup, we would gladly pay for it if we knew it’s not packed already.

Nice quality fish &chips cooked while you wait

Don’t have free use of the salt and vinegar. This is an actual crime and means you have bland chips, which isn’t too bad if you’re taking them home and adding your own stuff but if you’re jumping on the train you’ll be disappointed. Even if this is due to covid things then just wipe down the containers. Will likely be back but will need free reign on the vinegar or have a staff member willing to drench them. Well located and open good hours. They double cook their chips. Good portion for the price

The photo I just saw via Google of the fish and chips here doesn't do justice to the massive amount of chips you get for the so-called 'medium' portion! Also the smallest sized battered cod is enough for 2 of us - and it's all delicious. They get through a sizeable queue of people very efficiently with nothing ever needing to be written down.

Excellent food and excellent service. The fish is always fresh and the chips are superb. A great example of classic fish and chips.

Very hygienic and clean shop next to Berkhamsted station. The fish and chips we order were of the highest quality, freshly made to order. The chips were not greasy, nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The large cod we order was enough to feed two. Again very fresh and flaky fish. Cooked to perfection. Sorry no photos as everyone was so hungry!! 😂
