Little Hay Golf Complex in Dacorum

My fiancee and I had afternoon tea at Par 3 this afternoon. It was excellent with delicate sandwiches and far too many scones, jam and cream. The price was very reasonable too, just remember to book (at least an hour) as they make things fresh. Brilliant after a round of golf!

29 of us played a society day at Little Hay golf course the day started with coffee and bacon rolls the bacon rolls were 1st class. The golf course was in fairly good condition considering the amount of rain we have had recently, the front 9 is a little boring up & down the back 9 is a bit better. It's worth a 2nd visit especially in the summer. We had a one course lunch which was home made steak and kidney pie with mash potato & veg which I must say was one of very best golf society lunches I've had on these golf days.

We had my husband's 40th birthday party at Little Hay last month and it was excellent. The venue was perfect. The atmosphere was lovely, very happy and friendly. The staff were very helpful before, during and after the event with the organisation, decorating, drinks, food and taking everything down and storing overnight so we didn't have to worry. I highly recommend this venue and would use it again.

We held a Sunday afternoon anniversary party here yesterday. We would just like to say what a fabulous time we had. From the moment we booked it, everything ran smoothly. Chrissie, Restaurant Bar and Manager was so helpful, and responded to any concerns immediately. The team @ Little Hay were brilliant all day, nothing too much trouble. Angela and Michael our hosts were fab, as was the Bar team who worked very hard. The food was brilliant too. Lots of compliments of the venue and food from our family and friends, well done to you all, and many thanks in making our day very special.

We hosted a charity golfing event at little hay. The members of staff at the complex helped us endlessly and ensured the day ran smoothly. The catering team did an amazing job with seeing to everyone's different needs and created an amazing Sunday roast. It was a very very good experience, I highly recommend using this complex as a place to do events.

Very obliging staff and great service at a good price. Walking groups recover here over coffee or tea and are welcome amongst the golfers.

We have just returned from a Christmas Lunch at the Par 3 restaurant at Little Hay Golf complex. What a pleasant surprise!!!!! The beef was superbly cooked and all the vegetables were excellent. It cannot be easy to get brussels that are just to my liking, along with Pigs in Blankets, Roast Potatoes, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Parsnips and Carrots. Everything was great. Well done to all the staff.

Hosted my daughters wedding reception at Little Hay. Cannot praise them enough. Venue excellent, food excellent, managed gluten free with no problem, and staff excellent. Had a schedule which changed during the event and staff were fantastic in responding with no problem and always a smile on their faces. Helped make my daughters wedding a truly wonderful day and all guests who commented were very complimentary with words like "best wedding I have attended". All made possible by the staff.

Had my wedding reception there yesterday and it was amazing! From the initial booking and planning through to the day itself staff were helpful and friendly. Chrissie the manager couldn't have been more accommodating and catered to our needs and requests, with lots of unexpected personal touches. The choice of wedding menu was fantastic and we were able to pick and choose to make a tailored buffet menu for our sit down meal and later evening buffet. The food was fantastic. Nothing seemed to much trouble, they consulted with us every step of the way and set the room up to our request and it looked amazing. Couldn't have asked for better service, made the day perfect, thank you.

Booked my wedding reception here on 19th Aug 17, had several meetings with Chrissie (manager)she was very professional, and nothing was to much trouble from arranging disco, food, flowers, balloons wine, chair coverings, the service from the staff on my big day was exceptional always there to help with smiley faces. We had a afternoon and evening buffet which can I say a big thank you to the chef, it was again exceptional and plenty of it. I have been to the venue a few times now and have tried there carvery on Sundays excellent. I would not hesitate to book this venue again great all round service, beautiful views, pleasant staff and management, at reasonable prices, thank you so much for making my day one not to forget.

Just held my 70th birthday celebrations here ,had a really wonderful day ,lovely food ,tables laid to perfection .I had great feed back from my guests and as it was sunny when the meal was over we sat on the patio area reserved for us .From the time I booked in February until the event Chrissie was extremely helpful. I would highly recommended this place for celebrations I could not fault it

I so loved my party, it went so well, in most part due to Chrissie, the event co-ordinator. She guided, offered suggestions, followed up, and was completely on the ball, we took her advice on a number of suppliers, all of which worked brilliantly. The room looked amazing, the staff were great, friendly, helpful, resourceful, and all took it all in their stride and I had not a jot to do on the day, other than enjoy it all. The buffet was lovely, the bacon and sausage rolls were great and well timed... the drink flowed and everyone loved it. We couldn't have asked for more and wouldn't have wanted anything else, Chrissie is great at her job, and Sportspace are lucky to have her. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this venue , its a great value high quality venue.

We have been using the 6 hole pitch & putt course periodically over the last 4 years & generally enjoy the experience. However, the greens have steadily deteriorated in quality. They were particularly poor on our most recent visit- uneven & weedy ( the weeds had recently been treated but the remaining dead & dying weeds left some nasty , ball deviating lumps & bumps ). The tee mats are in poor condition with some of the integral tees missing. Introducing ' football golf ' alongside was a big mistake, in my opinion. Who wants people booting footballs all over the place whilst you are trying to play a golf shot? Despite the injunction of a no more than 4 in a group rule, it is flouted & I note that football golfers flit from hole to hole in not always the numerical order. Also not impressed by groups with tiny tots tagging along with adults & holding up others for ages whilst they tap balls 3 metres at a time. Great on a quiet day but to be avoided at all costs during school holidays. Do not expect perfection but one still pays to use facility- Enforce some modicum of order & discipline please.

Went for a family wedding and had no complaints about the day the staff really made it memorable all was well organised beautifully decorated a visible event organiser dealing with all the guests needs. Location was beautiful for photos and the venue had a really good flow. One down side was the the lack of trained bar staff but a few of us guests used to run a wedding venue and we could have been overly picky. Would highly recommend it even made me want to try a round a golf

We had a sit down meal for around 90 people. Catering Manager was great with lots ideas to help us. We brought our own champagne and wine and corkage was very reasonable. Food was excellent quality and only complaint I got was there was too much! Venue is smart and it was sunny so we could use the Patio outside that was reserved for our guests. A great place to hold a function.

I went to the golf course Open Day yesterday expecting to see a golf course in pristine condition. Wow, I got that wrong. The greens were in abysmal condition with numerous bald patches on all greens. A couple of the tee boxes looked like they needed re-seeding and a careful eye was needed to avoid stones in the bunkers. Little Hay advertises itself as one of the best municipal golf course in the country. It is not. It is not even the best municipal course within a 10 mile radius. It might be the dearest to play though and they don't mention that.

I had played this course 15 years ago and remembered it fondly but this time the condition of the greens and fairway was very disappointing. We walked off after 2 holes - first time in my life! Their defence was that it was a public course but check out Batchwood in St Albans or Stockwood Park in Luton- both excellent, well kept public courses at far cheaper fees. Their green fee was also very poor value at £22. Will not visit again.

We went there as a party of 12 on Mother's Day. We had a carvary . There was a choice of beef and chicken or both. We were given a really large amount of beef and half a small chicken each. Had yo take some home for dogs as couldn't eat it all. Only disappointment was the beef was as it comes and a coup,e of us don't like bloody meat. The service was lovey and the meal was very filling. There was a choice of three desserts which were all enjoyed. Mums also got a fruit juice or prosecco and entered into a free draw with some good prizes.

Simple menu - great jacket potatoes and good choice of fillings. Lovely 3 egg omelettes again with a choice of fillings which are served with nice chips and a side salad. Very reasonable prices.

Nice venue slightly out of the way. We attended a wedding here for between fifty and seventy guests and it was the perfect venue. Nice and clean, fairly modern with a big enough dance floor and car park. Good bar (reasonably priced) and pleasant friendly staff which is always nice. The food was so so but that might have been the hosts choice. Overall a nice tidy modernish venue slightly out of any local towns so book your taxis early!!

We had our wedding reception at Little Hay, following our wedding abroad. Chrissie and her team were a pleasure to work with, ensuring that we got exactly what we wanted by being flexible, accommodating and communicating well with us throughout. Chrissie liaised well with our suppliers and ensured that everything was ready for when we arrived. The end result was perfect, the venue looked stunning and the food (our own afternoon tea menu) was delicious and plentiful and was enjoyed by all. The venue was well staffed with someone on hand for all of our needs and you never had to wait long at the bar. Every detail was seen to and I would recommend Little Hay to anyone seeking a venue for their wedding or party.Thank you!

We haven't visited Little Hay for a couple of years, no particular reason for this just how life flows. For a change we visited Little Hay for lunch, we were not disappointed - superb food, a carvery with two meats (a juicy turkey and a tender beef) and a good range of veg. Unfortunately we ate so much main course we had no room for pud.

We had our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary party at Little Hay and I'm so glad we did the evening was fantastic. Chrissie and her team were so helpful nothing was to much trouble. They were very attentive & really looked after us & all our guests. The venue is lovely, the food was excellent and the service fab. The evening went just as we hoped thanks to all the staff there. Lots of the guests said how good the food was. We had 3 courses a Carvery for the main. All the food was very tasty & piping hot. We had the party in the Conservatory room and it looked fantastic. It was a great night one my parents will never forget and I would recommend Little Hay to everyone.

Our walking group from Chorleywood really did enjoy their lunch at the restaurant today!  So thank you one and all for pleasing everyone in our small party. The quality of the food was excellent, and served with such kindly staff.    And to think that I almost cancelled our walk when the weather prospects seemed dire!Many thanks and best wishes

When searching for the perfect wedding venue for our budget we came across the fantastic Little Hay Golf Complex in Bovingdon.Right from the start Chrissie, the sites restaurant and bar manager, was so helpful and organised she made everything an absolute breeze. She was very accommodating to what we wanted for our day and made sure we were happy with the arrangements every step of the way.The space of the venue is perfect for a mid size wedding like ours and we were able to decorate the glass room, a section by the bar and we also had the outside space which was brilliant as the weather held out for us!Everyone, including ourselves, raved about the food. We went for a 'beige buffet' and it had great choice and also accommodating for my Nan who is Gluten intolerance and also my bridesmaid who is allergic to nuts.The bar staff we're great and no-one was without a drink (just what you want for a wedding!).We were also able to set up a photo booth by the bar area, which was great fun.The DJ's were also faultless - great mixture of music (many of which we sent prior to the day). All our guests said the music was perfect. They were also able to download a few tracks there and then, for some my friends requested.Overall Chrissie and the team at Little Hay Golf did a superb job, and helped in making our day literally, the best day of my life. I did not have to worry about a single thing and could enjoy myself all night long!We recommend to all to book Little Hay for an event, a great find!!

I had a 70th birthday lunch in the conservatory for over 50 people. From booking, discussing the menu, table arrangements, drinks, all was seamless. The food was delicious and hot, service amazing, and even the sun shone, hence we were able to use the delightful patio area.

Primarily visited for the golf and stayed for a bar snack. Good food and a nice golf course. The clubhouse is tidy and the outside seating is pretty good. If you sit in the right place you can see the 9th and 18th fairways and greens, which can provide bothentertainment and glimpses of the unique world of golf fashion clothing.

We held our wedding reception here and it was a brilliant decision. Chrissy was absolutely fantastic and really helped us to keep the day, and the lead up, stress-free. Food was great, staff were great, venue was perfect. Definitely recommend Little Hay for family/friends style events!

We had more than 80 for a birthday party on Sat evening. The complete package included spit roast lamb, brownies, cheese and much, much more. The self-chosen cask ale was particularly good :-) Chrissie had supplied the DJ team and helped immensely with every aspect of the planning and implementation. The team that were on duty on the night were well trained and delivered everything as promised. Highly recommend this venue for a worry-free perfect solution. Mark

Played 18 holes with my visiting Cousin and have to say that the course was in very good condition. Greens still need some attention but overall much improved. Nice atmosphere in bar area with friendly staff. Overall nice experience

My wife and I recently attended an evening wedding reception at the Little Hay Golf Complex. Located in attractive landscaped grounds, the venue consisting of a reception room, lounge and bar was perfect for the reception and for the number of guests attending. The reception room was transformed early evening from the seated wedding breakfast format to a dance floor for the evening entertainment. The well stocked bar and pleasant staff provided an efficient service throughout the evening. A perfect venue for celebratory functions.

We booked Little Hay, where my now son-in-law plays golf, for the evening reception after his wedding with my daughter. We were blessed with the weather, which showed off the landscape so beautifully and allowed guests to sit outside well into the evening. We were equally blessed with a fantastic team handling the party on the night and, just as important, all the arrangements beforehand. It all went smoothly, buffet was great (yummy cake bites!), everyone had a ball and the happy couple were indeed very happy! Wheelchair access is excellent by the way. Big thanks to all the team - chefs, bar staff, disco - but especially Michael who managed the event on the night and Chrissie who was a joy to work with getting everything set up. We loved the venue and look forward to returning for another party. Meanwhile, I will be back for lunch!

Ladies and gentlemen please let me tell you of the amazing wedding reception that we had at Little Hay Golf Club.As we were getting married abroad we wanted something a little different for a reception back in the UK and being in the music world we wanted to host a mini music festival for everyone to enjoy .We had a few “must have’s” and Chrissie (manager) was so accommodating but offering superb advice based on her vast experience.We had over 170 guests arriving at 6pm we had bespoke cocktail reception (my favourite cocktails were served) and gorgeous canapés and not tiny ones either, proper good size. Room was decorated beyond my expectations and it was the perfect size and layout for the large number of guests and entertainment that was to follow.Chrissie kept the itinerary of artists/band (5 different ones) to a timetable which ran so smoothly...We were also able to play the wedding video on the large TV screen and a screen shot of wedding photos throughout the event which was very nice touch.The food ..OMG !.. one of my fears is a “beige” buffet and Chrissie knew this and the chef did us proud .....we wanted a buffet that was colourful, healthy, delicious and filling... all our guests raved about the buffet...it was perfect for our occasionWe opted for the BBQ and a mix of the other options including dressed salmons and large roast ham joint ..followed by bacon butties later in the night ...perfect !!!The venue was perfect, grounds and building clean and tidy, staff excellent and food beyond expectation..The music was great too ..thanks to all my Muso mates ..oh and Elvis !!!We can honestly say that, throughout planning every detail of our wedding abroad and the UK reception, We did not have to worry about anything regarding the reception at Little Hay ..Chrissie took care of every detail and on the night made sure our guest and us, the bride and groom, had a fab time ..Which we did until 1am ...thank you so much Chrissie and your team ..you did us proud Ladies & Gentlemen..if you want an ideal venue with great service and food at excellent value for money then please consider Little Hay ...and if you want great music to go with that then let me know... I can recommend something for everyone !!!!

I've played this course a number of times and enjoyed it but have to say was a real let down. Firstly, charging full price £26.50 for a course that's basically under mud is outrageous. It doesn't matter if you're on the fairway or not you are standing in pools of water and Mud. The course is open no matter what the weather and it shows. When we turned up for a 10.20 tee time the course looked empty and now know why. On the upside the restaurant staff are very friendly.

Not really in to Golf but was given some vouchers by a colleague so thought i will give it a try.Had a really good time and even more impressed with the little restaurant serving excellent food within the complex.

Chrissie what can I say? Wow! Your attention to detail is amazing and you were so helpful during the planning of the event. Michael and the team were brilliant on the night. Very supportive and ensured that all guests were happy and having a good time. Brilliant venue and more bookings from me.

Well what can I say apart from brilliant! My husband and I booked this venue for our wedding reception and couldn't be happier. Chrissie was great, very helpful, always contactable and happy to see us. We were greeted with lovely welcome drinks, the food was excellent, we had a BBQ followed by buffet later, all our guests had plenty to eat. The venue is lovely, really nice outlook, great inside and out. We had plenty of bar staff and the bar was well stocked. I dont think i could fault it at all. Personally I would defiantly recommend this venue, really pleased we chose Little Hay. Massive thanks to Chrissie and all her staff!!

My husband and I went to the driving range and he's also been a couple of times to play golf here.It's lovely, it has a beautiful view? It's well looked after and staff are really nice and helpful

We held an evening wedding reception at Little Hay at end of May 2015. Chrissie the bar manager could not have been more helpful, took care of all the organising and arrangements including arranging the disco, which was great, and the evening went superbly, just as we had hoped. The place looked fantastic inside and out. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was great. Woud highly recommend the venue.

We had enjoyed playing footgolf with the family so we booked my daughters 10th birthday party there. Unfortunately it wasn't the same experience they were so busy with the Captains charity bash that they neglected my daughter and her friends. It was a hot day and after the footgolf we went to eat and take advantage of the unlimited juice but because they were short staffed and busy the kids had to wait nearly half an hour before their food arrived and after requesting several times before the juice arrived. I was not very impressed with the service and would not recommend booking a birthday party there. I refused to pay the full price and was given a reduced rate. The booking of the party did not go smoothly and they really do need to look into their booking procedure.

We've just celebrated our 40th anniversary at Little Hay Golf Complex with an evening party and buffet. Chrissie the manageress was very, very helpful with all of the arrangements prior to the evening and on the night itself. Chrissie even arranged for a disco (Alex) who was very good.Must admit I was a little worried how everything would be, but when we arrived, it looked beautiful. The tables were laid out exactily how we requested and everyting was perfectly set up. All of our guests commented on how good the bufet was and the staff could not have been more helpful. Thank you for making our anniversary an evening to remember.

The course is in ok condition the greens are not and at £26:50 at weekends it's overpriced! Also no ranger on the course so you get people playing without paying.The patio overlooking the 18th is great place for a beer and the food was good.

Very first visit to Little Hay on the occasion of a friend's 70th birthday. The special function room was light and airy providing an excellent setting for the celebration. The food was a traditional carvery with a choice of gammon, beef and turkey. There was an extensive range of vegetables and it was served with panache by the chef who was friendly and jovial. Following a range of deserts including the chef's special of bread and butter pudding, we left very satisfied by our experience.

Went for a mothers day treat, a carvery as expected. Was told by manageress to go up to food counter. We did this only to have a big burley chef wave his carving knife at us shouting" you shouldnt be up here theres that table to come up before you" pointing his knife at a large table of 11. I said to him we was told by the manageress to come up and that i didnt like the way he spoke to us. It was very embarrassing as i felt that we were made to look greedy people desperate to get up for our food which was not the case. The manageress could see how upset i was and later came to apologise on behalf of the chef as apparently he was too emarrassed to come himself. Food was ok beef was dry gammon was lovely. Sweets were very tasty and different.

We visited for a lunch time snack, with our daughter. We, only had a sandwich each, which was well presented with a salad garnish and crisps. At £12 for the three of us including coffee it was good value. Nice setting to get away from the town for lunch.

I play the course every fortnight with my friend and have lunch after the game. On every occasion the food, service and friendliness of the staff has been better than some of the 'upmarket' restaurants in the town (Berkhamsted) where I live. A great place to eat even although you may not be a golfer.

Am very impressed with the quality of food at this little known carvery just outside Hemel Hempstead. The atmosphere was spot on and the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. A meal there just has to be tried, I will be going back!!
