The best restaurants serving Chinese food in South Ayrshire South West Scotland

I didn’t visit the restaurant, but ordered a takeaway; ann absolutely amazing chicken, green pepper and black bean sauce with boiled rice. The Chicken was plentiful and the nicest I’ve ever tasted from a Chinese restaurant. Veggies were crisp and crunchy and exactly the way they should have been as was the black bean sauce. Thank you, Golden City - I didn’t know what to expect with it being my first take-away from you, but I more than impressed and was certainly not disappointed

I went here with my partner for an evening meal and was very disappointed following the number of positive comments from other diners. The food felt extremely processed and the chicken was extremely tough and overcooked in both of our dishes. The decor is nice and the beer was good but the food was not. The staff are very attentive but overall I was unimpressed.

Had chicken balls and chips which were terrible were like rubber was not nice meal at all

Lovely friendly staff. The food is gorgeous. We came for a birthday meal and the birthday girl was surprised with a piece of cake with a candle, plus they played happy birthday. Our used plates were taken away swiftly. The selection of foods range from British through Italian and Asian palates, with a delicious selection of deserts. We will definitely be back 😊

Great lunch and excellent value. Best Chinese restaurant in Ayr & Prestwick. Would recommend the lunch time special menu as it is great value for money.

Poor choices for vegetarians and pescatarian with my food requiring heated in the microwave. Plenty desserts and staff attentive enough.

we had a curry the best ever staff great will be back again in july cant wait. so good stairs to toilet a bit dodgy but that does not go against the quality of the food.

Tried this place for a takeaway as my usual Chinese was so busy I couldn’t get in the door. I had heard a lot of good reports so thought it’s time to try again. Not impressed. The curry sauce was very bland and I will not be using again.

Fried soft noodles are definitely not made to order more like pre cooked very stale no taste kept in container also very dry had them like this more than once ,always gets my order wrong won't be ordering from here again

The meal was not outstanding. I will not be back.

After waiting over an hour I get a text off a number I don't know, they delivered too wrong address and gave my private number with it, terrible service will never be back

Take my advice AVOID AVOID we went for my birthday last night a main each with sides rice and chips,& shredded chicken. it was the most disgusting food ever from here. I was feeling sick afterwards and my partner wouldnt eat his. to start off the shredded chicken didn't have any detectable chicken in it, it was only thin strips of batter, back het, terribly hard unable to chew. and sauce was but a salty gloop! king prawn curry was over cooked so all prawns were hard chewy just the way prawns not meant to be cooked. The chips were hard, inedible and back het so much so the crows didn't want them. Duck green peppers black bean sauce was disgusting. never seen duck meat that thick, I very much doubt it was duck. it was huge chunks hard meat with slimy croc skin utterly disgusting. it went down toilet, the cat wouldn't even eat it. I did attempt to complain to Ben about it but the phone service is rude argumentative and abusive. I got a load of abuse and hung up on. 88 is a dive now. They definitely should be shut down. But they don't care because they're making so much money selling to all the drunks with low standards in what they consume they dont care what is in the food they’re eating. Never ever go here on a Friday Saturday night because you’ll probably get dog and be unwell. GO ELSEWHERE. Unless you enjoy indigestible yuck- I felt sick after eating what little I had. it's put me off going back and it was once my regular Chinese takeout years ago. We hadnt been for a long while but thought treat for birthday. HIGE MISTAKE. especially since all the abuse off the girl over phone when tried to complain. -there are many better places to take away food in Ayr. Punjab in main street. have crispy light fluffy chips great tandoori tender meat cooked fresh. I took photos because the public should be informed standards in 88 have gone to the dogs. Def go elsewhere the girls on the phone leave a lot to be desired and the food isn’t what I’d call food. Do yourself a favour AVOID AVOID AVOID it is abysmal abusive and disgusting. GO Anywhere in Ayr or Prestwick BUT HERE!!!

Stopped for some chips and a late decision to add curry sauce on the way home this week. Having not ordered here for a long time and there being new owners at least twice since I’m pretty sure, not sure what the food would be like but not something you consider too deeply when you’re ordering chips. Chips were undercooked, and not in the least bit pleasant. £8 for some partially cooked sticks of potato? No thanks.
