Food ok for what I received unfortunately I had things missing from my order

Food is fresh & tasty. Menu has something for everybody. Counter staff and delivery drivers are always friendly. Only reason I gave 4 stars for service is because there is a long wait for delivery when it's busy (but the food IS worth the wait!)

Called for delivery. Good on the phone and clear on when delivery would arrive. Meal was good 👌

Order was missing one item, and had to wait an absolute age to get it. Won’t be back! Could hear them lying to customers on the phone to say the driver was at the end of their road when he was in the shop.

Ordered dinner a selection of dishes the chicken noodle soup tasted like onion and the chicken was so dry, salt and chilli chicken had a whole onion in it not very pleasant at all, sweet and sour chicken balls the chicken was fatty and greasy the chicken skewers were okay but the satay sauce is having an identity crisis it is a cross between curry and satay

Useless vermin scum. We’ve been returning customers for a while now and have put up with their incompetence regarding wrong orders. We only get 20-30 minute breaks so when somebody goes to get it, it has to be right. They’ve forgotten orders by a comical amount but still charge for the food they don’t give! It is not our and your responsibility to empty food bags to make sure you have got your order correct. To top it all off, they won’t rectify wrong orders at all so don’t bother handing money to thief’s. Kitchen runs worse than monkeys trying to operate a phone, it’s pathetic.

Been going for years, used to be good but shocking now. Never get order correct, charged wrong, rude staff. Decided to try it again tonight after avoiding it for months due to the fact it’s open later and tonight confirmed why we’ve avoided it for months. Food quality has decreased in the past few years and staff can’t seem to get a basic order correct. A shame as it used to be really good. But will never be back now. Even when they get the order wrong, no apology or even an attempt to fix it which is laughable. Food used to justify the lengthy waits but can’t even say that now as it’s went downhill drastically.

Disaster cancelled delivery after waiting 2 hrs plus. Used frequently before service patchy but food compensated. This time response unacceptable and will not be using again if 0 stars an option would have been left. Totally no customer service and ruined a Saturday night meal. Ps this is the polite version

This is a carry out shop food is good but they won't take payment by card over the phone which they did until this week going to somewhere else shame

Haven't been for a while as the last couple of times food was disappointing and wrong items were received. Went in early just after opening hoping to miss the crowd. Food was ready within 5 mins (never a good sign) don't live too far away, so on opening of our meal the only hot item were the chips! We had to microwave our mains, rice and sauce. I am so fed up of receiving sub standard food from this place, if I can spend my hard earned cash surely I should be receiving a hot tasty meal in return. Meal went into the bin. Never again will I use 88, the usual excuse is "its Saturday and busy" I don't care, the food is just awful. Will never be back.

At peak hours you need to call hundreds of times sometimes to get through but it's well worth it for the amazing Chinese takeaway food - possibly the best in Scotland.

Increasingly hit or miss, been going here for 3 decades, but the past year or so has seen a decline in the flavour. Shame.

Ordered a takeaway chicken dish and only waited about 7 minutes. The staff were very friendly and polite. Food was delicious and competitively priced. Have used it several times since. Haven't had a bad takeaway yet.

Got the beef curry on Monday as my favourite takeaway was closed ,normally pretty gd ,disappointed still chewing some of the beef yet ,still deciding whether to try again ☹

Freshly cooked, food is pretty good. Sadly let down by the front of house staff who at best are rude and frequently charge incorrectly and get orders wrong and incomplete. There are a few other restaurants in Ayr which provide a much better and friendlier service. If the owners reading this, sack your front of house staff.

Worst Chinese in Ayr. Got my order wrong & chicken balls were terrible, pink chicken & slimy. Not cooked properly. Also got beef curry instead of spare ribs. Rice was ultra dry. Everything went in the bin, waste of £20. Won’t be back. Only went because I needed to get a taxi home. Next time will go to Ocean Views or Golden City that are on another level.

Ordered a chicken fried rice when I opened it the chicken was grey and small pieces which looked like it had been scraped off the bone. Customer service is poor also.

Have been a customer for many years, in recent times, quality of food has taken a major downturn, no longer reliable for a good meal.

Best Chinese in ayr unfortunately only tried for the first time about 2 week ago wow the food was perfect

Unbelievably rude and arrogant older woman working on the front desk. She miserably took my order and then continued to talk to a customer in a disgusting manner while I was waiting for my order telling them they should look at the menu outside when it was pouring down instead of look at it in the takeaway, whilst aggressively telling them to Hurry up. There is no place for this sort of behaviour when you work in customer service! Ashame that something like this can ruin an experience at a decent Chinese takeaway.

Food ok, delivery takes too long. but cash only.. little suspicious to me any business these days not providing customers more convenient ways to pay. Recent order was a collection, told me had to go get cash. I just had to walk away leaving them holding my order as no wallet on me, just phone for apple pay. Never have that issue anywhere else.

The lunchtime menu is amazing value, can sometimes be mix ups with orders due to language barrier but food is always top notch

Ordered delivery and food was cold when it arrived and had to be reheated before you could eat it, therefore not enjoyable

Ordered a delivery and after an hour of waiting and no sign of delivery . I phoned the rude person that answers the phone to take orders to ask where my delivery was. Was told the delivery was waiting on a driver picking up the order. Gods knows how long the food had been cooked for waiting to be delivered. The food on previous occasions has always been good but the customer service from the person who answers the phone is extremely poor. I asked how much longer it would be and was told it would be there when it was there and at this point I asked to cancel the order only for the phone to be hung up on me. Will never order from here again.

The visual hustle and bustle of a busy open kitchen first attracts your attention, the menu is a consolidated choice of dishes... end experience! 5 stars all day long..

Don’t order from this take away if you are in a hurray. The delivery times are appalling, we have ordered here a few times and every time it has taken a ridiculous time for the food to be delivered. Food good though. Keeps pulling us back!!

The best Chinese takeaway in Ayrshire. The fried rice is proper fried rice with egg and spring onion through it. Sweet and sour Hong Kong style has chilli in it though so ask for it to be without if you don't like it .

Spring rolls are superb. The best in town. But I am not convinced that the sweet and sour chicken was real meat and the sauce was way too spicy for sweet and sour.

Great food here would recommend the prawn fried rice. The price is very reasonable and staff were nice. 45min wait for food so make sure to take this into account very popular fast food women absolutely rushed off her feet.

Not so great but seemed popular. Both dishes disappointing, bland tasteless sauce. Noodles were good but overall very greasy .

Best Chinese restaurant in Ayrshire. Good service Kitchen is in view through a window so you know they have nothing to hide. Fair priced with good portion sizes. Fantastic food. No matter what you get you'll enjoy! Only 1 really small thing is Id like free prawn crackers after any order over £15 :) Thanks for your many of good meals over the years!

This joint has gone really downhill in recent years. I'd recommend avoiding.

Called at 5 last night for a delivery, by 6:30 on the second call they were trying to find my order and it would be with me "in a few minutes" 30 mins later when I called again, some limp wristed mutant screamed down the phone about cancelling the order then hung up, 😂 saved me cancelling it I suppose. Absolute dogshite.

Was recommended this place went along wish I didn’t the woman behind the counter is very cheeky! Never been to any takeaway and been spoke to the way this woman speaks to customers! Shame really the food was nice but won’t be back purely because the rude customer service!

I was recommended this place from a taxi driver in Ayr so went along the woman that was serving was very very rude actually put me off ordering from here if a wasn’t so hungry I would have left! I understand their busy but dont take on a customer service job when you have a stinking attitude towards paying customers who keep you in ur job! She wasn’t just rude to me she’s was rude to every customer that was their including the staff there!Think this place needs a friendly person serving could cost them their customers, the food was nice I wouldn’t return purely because the rude person serving shame really

I work in ayr and when I get a chance head to 88 its superb.

I recently moved to Ayr from Glasgow and made a point of trying each of the Chinese takeaways local to me and I have to say that 88 wins hands down, the food is always amazing and counter service is excellent I can’t believe the amount of negative reviews on this but on looking constructively it seems the common denominator is deliveries and the time they take, most nights when I’m in and order it only takes 5-10 mins according to what my order is and people come and go during that time so I can only assume that walk in orders take precedence over phone ins which shouldn’t be the case but I guess that’s how it operates so maybe best to opt for the walk in if at all possible, don’t let the negativity put you off the food is delicious and excellent portions all round give it a try I’m sure you won’t be disappointed

I ordered from here last Friday and the food was amazing delivery was super quick was delivered within a hour like the girl explained was warm and tasted delicious will be back !!

Saying to husband the order was £31 and on the recite it was £21 and when asked for our £10 back she went off her chops! Gave us the V sign and everything! Very nasty oh and the food was rotten never again!

Order shredded chilli chicken waited an hour which is cool but when it got here I got salt and chilli chips so now got to wait for the delivery drive to come back with ne order and by that time the rice will be freezing not happy and will not be ordering out or the shop again

Ive used this take away for years and the food is ok however the wait time from ordering is definately NOT ok. The bloke that runs the kitchen obviously decides which orders get done and its definately NOT on a first come first served basis. Waited over 1hr for 2 starters and 3 main courses whilst others would come in order and leave, also whilst at the same time the delivery driver was taking away his orders all the time. The fellow that runs the kitchen is quite unapproachable, he would have you believe he does not understand English and leaves the poor counter staff to take the brunt. Wont be back as there are other Chinese takeaways in Ayr where the service is far superior.

Best Chinese I've ever came across

Recommended by the wife’s hairdresser after a couple of poor local takeaways we decided to give Eighty 8 a try After placing our order on the phone we were told it would be ready in 20 minutes which gave me enough time to drive the 10 miles into Ayr to pick it up as they unfortunately don’t deliver out to us. On my arrival I only had a short wait and the staff were friendly and helpful as a newbie to the area answering my question. The meal which consisted of skewered chicken with satay sauce, Kung Po chicken, hot & spicy crispy beef, 2 fried rice and a portion of Garlic & chilli crispy chips which we both agreed are to die for !! All was well cooked and hot on my return home Would definitely recommend and will be using as my regular takeaway They have a separate lunchtime menu which I’ve shown in photos

Extremely busy place and food was delicious.

1st time trying here as we were staying in local caravan site. Easy to find. Quick service and food was really nice. Missed a dish we had ordred and when we rang they explained we hadnt been charged for it. To be honest good job as portion size is pretty big and it would have been just too much and gone to waste. Cant fault the meal we had and will be going back next time we are in the area.

Well this place is putting out 5 star restaurant quality Chinese food and it's a takeaway service only. I am 100% a returning customer to this place. Does special offers on nearly all their dishes. This place is extremely busy as all the locals use it regularly and you can have a long wait for your food at times but on my goodness it's worth it.
