Mr Basrai's in South Ayrshire

One of my favorite places, clean, friendly, and amazing food..

Delicious food and warm atmosphere to spend time with friends and family. Starters were really good, especially loved the peshwari naan freshly made by the Chef on Tandoor and even explained the ingredients in it which was interesting. Gulab Jamun is all time favourite and it was made to perfection. Overall dinner was great!!!

I brought my family to this restaurant after finding it a couple of years ago. Took my grandkids in to. No-one went home hungry or unhappy. The food was amazing. Fabulous choice. The service was amazing. Great atmosphere. They couldn't do enough for us. Thank you very much guys. We will definitely will be back.

I love a all you can eat buffet. You can't get better value. This place has it all Japanese Chinese Indian Italian mexican and English. Each serving is packed with flavour individual flavours.with some places they all taste similar or bland . But this place gives you subtle flavours and kicking spice hot flavours. Plus you can get unlimited soft drink refills. So I had iron brew . 3 plates and some deserts made me full and happy

Lovely place, excellent choices of a very large selection of foods from all over the world. Soft drink refills make an excellent choice when going with young children. Brilliant location and easy to find. Defenetly worth a visit, on certain days they do a 10% discount for Military, NHS, and Emergency services.

Absolutely disgusting food. It's a sad day when the best part of the meal was the chocolate fountain. The curries were inedible. Every one of them had a weird taste like they were made from the same mass produced cheap base sauce. The pizza was barely cooked, extremely salty and still had raw dough. Good my kids didn't eat it or they might have got ill. All the Fried items were dry - Pakora was rock solid. The salad was wilted and there was a poor selection. The meat in the curries and the starters were OK standard but anything involving a sauce tasted funny and anything fried was dry. The paneer curry was not actually paneer but tofu... Do yourself a favour and don't come here. They don't deserve to be charging the guts of £22 a head for a meal and a drink. There are many other Indian and Chinese restaurants in Ayr with 10x higher quality for that price. The only upside is that kids under 4 eat free. It is our own fault as this is our second time here (first was a year ago and I remember it being substandard but not this bad - at least the curries were edible). However standards have really slipped. The place was about 10% of capacity on a Thursday evening. I don't understand the 5 star reviews. Either they were paid or not right in the head or simply have no idea what good food tastes like as they are used to eating farmfoods ready meals. This place does not deserve to stay open and take people's money under these conditions. To top of off, after we got in the car we noticed that were were all stinking of cooking - our hair and clothes must've picked up the smell from the poorly ventilated tandoor when they were cooking chicken. All in all, the worst meal we've had in a very long time.

Fantastic range of food in the "ALL YOU CAN EAT" Buffet Style. Service was exceptional.

We visited today just as it had opened. Most of the food was cold and there wasn't much selection. We visited for lunch so maybe evening is better. The waitress was lovely and nothing was to much trouble for her.

Mr Basrai's World Cuisine is a very cozy place, the decorations and colours made the place alot more pleasant to be in, the staff where very attentive and kind which was really nice, the food was tasty and worth the price, Would definitely recommend to people Visiting Ayr !!

Absolutely superb. Very friendly welcoming staff. Incredible selection of food - it would take several visits to try everything. In the evening, the chefs will cook a selection of food such as steaks, pork chops, salmon, squid, prawns for you on request - amazing for a buffet! Will definitely be back.

I went there with my wife and son for mothers day dinner and the food was fantastic staff were very friendly and helpful. Many choice of food with good standard. Highly recommended

A nice buffet restaurant but maybe a bit overpriced

We had a lovely meal here with our children and friends who live locally. The staff were extremely friendly from the moment we arrived until the time we left. Our kids felt totally comfortable going back and forth to get their own food, and the serving staff made the experience a joy. The food was very nice and the selection is huge! The price for six of us was also very reasonable indeed. I would happily recommend Mr. Basrai to anyone who fancies a great meal out in Ayr.

Cannae really fault a decent lunch for £11.99 in this day & age. Not a bad selection of grub , of course not haute cuisine but honest enough. Desserts seemed mostly home-made and better than the costco sh!te you might expect at a buffet. Even if your eyes arent bigger than your belly & only have a modest starter main & pud that's £4 a plate . total bargain. Maitre D very attentive to every need. thankyou

Sorry place was cold and grubby. Food was poor in quality and choice. Really didn't enjoy it. Won't be back.

Really lovely meal for Dad's 80th and staff helped make it special and lovely atmosphere

Came out for an early mother's day lunch with my mum and sister and we cleaned every plate we had. Food was amazing especially the apple crumble, probably the best I've had from any restaurant. Buffet was always topped up, the place was very clean and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Can't wait to come back, great to have somewhere like this local.

Cannot fault this place at all. It is a beautiful looking restaurant with an excellent selection of food. If only my stomach could hold more. The desserts are top class. Everything is first class, so no complaints here. Will always choose to eat here when visiting Ayr. 😊👍

We were in Mr Basra's today and the staff were lovely especially Harisht who asked us if we were enjoying every course. The variety of food was amazing and very nicely presented. Definitely worth coming to. We will be back soon.

Great variety of food and all lovely dishes. Staff are very friendly and thoroughly enjoyed the ‘make your own’ pasta counter.

Unfortunately wasn't as good as last time we were here. Food was over cooked and cold. Wasn't that busy so maybe not turning over quickly enough. To be fair the pizza section was great but unfortunately that's all.

Great place, come here everytime I'm in Ayr, great food and very friendly staff, highly recommend.

Had a great day with my son and one of my Turkish friend and than decided to go and have some food. After a long discussion decided to go mr Basrai (first time) and believe me it was fantastic food service and feel like home environment. Lamb chops, salmon prawns rogan Josh every thing was delicious on top desserts lol so many choices wow.

Service was great, food was above par for a buffet.

I'm a very plain eater but the chicken nugs were good and the soft serve with chocolate fountain was bangin

Lovely place - cheap and cheerful!

Spent Valentine's Day here. The staff were all lovely, the food and selection was excellent, and the prices were justified. We'll visit again! The only suggestion to the management would be to play music without adverts. Other than that, everything was great, and we had a lovely Valentine's Day ❤️

So many delicious food options. You can't beat Mr. Basrai's for lunch or dinner. The staff are so friendly. The restaurant is impeccably clean. I love the refillable fountain drinks. And the food- hot, fresh, and delicious. Something for everyone. I can't say enough good things about this place. We've always left happy. ❤️ They also do an NHS discount 🌈

Came here with my family and partner whilst visiting from south England, food was really great, staff were incredibly friendly, great value for money. Loved the rice pudding dessert.

A lovely family meal at Mr Basrai’s, the food was plentiful with loads of choice and hot and fresh. Great value and another 25% off food all of January made it even better value than usual.

Fantastic food with a great selection of Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, and Noodle bar. Friendly staff and welcoming. Food was great and was freshly made. Various soft drinks are available as is unlimited refills. staff confirmed that meat was halal (other than the pork, which is understandable), which means that i can try a variety of foods without any issue Clean and tidy building as are the toilets which were spotless. I would happily recommend

My first visit to the establishment. Myself and family members tried the lunch buffet. Fixed price of £12.99 per person. Eat as much as you like from a huge selection of dishes. Dished include a variety of chicken,beef and sushi. There is also a vegetarian section. Staff were great..very attentive. There is also a dessert section if you have room for it after trying the mains. Wheelchair access is no problem. All in all I enjoyed my visit as did the family members. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Excellent value for money, fantastic service, the staff couldn't be more helpful. Food is quite good especially the freshly cooked stuff and it's cooked the way you want it. Wide variety of dishes for all tastes so everybody is happy. Overall a great experience.

Been a few years since i was last at this place. Came in tonight with my partner for a quiet, relaxing meal but unfortunately that wasn't to be the case. No issue with the food however, I think it was Mr Basrai himself after taking our drink order he decided to come over to the table on another 3 occasions, asked me about 20 questions when I'm trying to eat. On the 3rd occasion whilst eating my dessert,he came up and asked why i did not try anything from the live meat and seafood cooking section. At this point it was starting to feel like an interrogation, also it made us feel uncomfortable letting me know I'd been watched like a hawk as i went round to choose my food.. I shouldn't have to explain why I didn't have any seafood or anything from the live cooking section. I shouldn't need to explain that I don't like seafood or that i ain't really a big eater, one plate, one dessert is enough for me!..Then upon paying the bill, another question...So what do use have planned now?... By this point i felt like saying why, what's it to you?!. Just a simple hope you enjoyed your meal and enjoy the rest of your night would suffice. If you ever read this Mr Basrai, if you come up once to ask if everything is OK, that's fine. But 3 times?... No need for that. Perhaps just let you're customers relax and enjoy their meals, try not to come over and put them on the spot with question time.

I absolutely love this place, but I've given it 4 stars for 1 reason only, on my last visit the food wasn't very hot and by the time I got back to my seat it was virtually cold. The food quality was good and the staff are excellent, I also love the unlimited soft drinks (I'm a vimto lover and it's on draught) and who doesn't love a chocolate fountain?

Great Food, Great Service and only the lack of customers being the only downside. Selection of starters, Mains and Desserts plus freshly cooked options was superb and anyone coming to Ayr MUST try this place out as you won’t be disappointed

Went in for dinner, food was fresh and warm, very delicious! Service was great, staff was very welcoming and attentive. Lots of choices for vegetarians as well. Really impressed by how clean and neat the restaurant is! It was a lovely experience and we had a really good time. We will definitely come back again!

We were searching for places to eat near Ayr on Christmas Day and went in here because nothing else was open. What a decision it turned out to be!!! Brilliant food complimented by good friendly staff.

Food cold . Not the best selection

Lovely world buffet with lots of cooked to order food options, including steak, pastas, noodles and fajitas. There's a wide variety of food for all tastes including squid, ribs, curries, delicious mozzarella sticks and sweet naan. The staff are attentive and the desert station was enjoyed by all.

Amazing visit !!! Went for our anniversary and got the most pleasant surprise ! Always like to come here the food is amazing and we always enjoy the atmosphere! Could not be more helpful if they tried fantastic night would definitely recommend Would 100% recommend ! A memory to keep Love this place !

Popped in for a quiet meal, food good, great variety, service fantastic, well worth the visit, will definitely be back.

We had lots,I had salmon prawns and octopus with noodles the chef was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. In a separate room there was a birthday and the kids had a great time.

Sweet counter had selections for all tastes and there's a whippy ice cream machine too. Various soft drinks are available as is unlimited refills. A bar is also available if you fancy a wee tipple with your meal. Building is clean and tidy as are the toilets which were spotless. I would happily recommend visiting Mr. Basrai's World Cuisine. I certainly will be back. 5 stars from me.

Extremely welcoming people and not a fancy environment but not a substandard environment too. Main element food , I could see there were more chicken varieties but less other meats. Personally I felt food spread is not very catchy. Overall a fine dine

The food was good, I wasn't keen on the indian food selection which was disappointing as Indian is what I was looking forward to the most, apart from that and even with that I still give it 5 stars... Definitely worth a visit, beware the food wastage policy though although I do agree it's a great way to prevent food wastage.

Well well well....what can we say...a family of 5 visiting Saturday 25th...there was barely enough salad to feed two...half the hot food dishes were empty ...no rice left ...we were squashed into a table.wont be returning any time soon...and the place was empty...we did however receive a discount after complaining...the toilets were absolutely disgusting...no toilet paper in the ladies as it was all over the floor

Fresh baked butter nans are the best you will get from India to ayr. Ice cream is whippy so all good there. Mispa what can I say I went in with an I jinured shoulder came out with it fixed physiotherapist in training with 2 months to graduation. The best. Been down here 13 months now working and I am a regular several times a week. Talk to the chefs fresh stone baked butter nan. Wow. Nice staff. Give it a go. 😁

Have been coming here 3 times first time was amazing second time noticed a decline thought I would give it another go but very disappointed couldn’t relax and enjoy my meal as the waiter was over at our table as soon as we finished eating this happened at least 3 times moving forward to the food arrived at 2 pm closes at 330 pm not much to offer wasn’t replenished went to pay the bill and before i could give him a tip he rudely pointed to the tip box and said that you could put something in there ie tip if you want he actually pointed to the tip box so because off our experience we won’t be back here or wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Good selection of food, lunchtime was a good price and staff friendly and professional

Went in at 12:30 on Sunday for opening time. 4 of us all with different variety’s off food and every single item we had was freezing. We complained and was then told “get some curry and scoop the sauce from the bottom” Yorkshire pounding was tipped out the wrapper straight onto the plate STONE COLD! They sent the team to go investigate all the items of food and was told to eat the curry, only had to pay for our drinks but not the point. WILL NOT BE BACK!

This was my first time here. Me and my family came for my nephews birthday. The owner found out that it was a birthday occasion and brought us out a free cake with a candle at the end and sang happy birthday with music along with another member of staff! It was wonderful , and made my nephews night !! I can’t thank you enough. I would highly recommend. Food was lovely and so was the staff x Roslyne :)

Great place. The staff were nice, it had a good atmosphere. There were loads of different cuisines to choose from and the dishes were all absolutely delicious.

Lovely visit, staff very friendly. Highly recommended. Lots of choice of food (we visited at dinner time so not as much as the evening but still more choice than we could eat 🤣). We are on our holiday with a miserable weather day so it has been a great treat for the kids. Thank you!
