Lychees-Ayr in South Ayrshire

We had a friendly greeting on arrival and got complementary prawn crackers at our table. My partner ordered chicken and mushroom with fried rice, and I had aromatic crispy duck with pancakes etc. We had a bottle of well chilled white wine it. Everything was excellent. The bill was very reasonable for what we had. We will certainly be back.

Tried a few things , some pretty good but too salty. I had a raging thirst the following day. The aromatic starter was pretty good but the duck in plum sauce was awful. Beef in Blackburn sauce was very well cooked. Overall satisfied

This is the second time I’ve eaten from here, I decided to treat my mum and an old aunt.The food was so delicious so thought I would try it again. And again lovely food prawn cocktail was a generous portion and fresh and tasty. the beef curry is the best curry I’ve had first Chinese curry I’ve had with peppers in it which I love. Had chocolate cake for dessert. All the food was well presented and generous portions. I will definitely be back third time. But I love trying different Chinese restaurants. But this is my favourite place to enjoy I highly recommend it you won’t be disappointed 😃

Stunning location! Waiter was lovely, however! One hour and twenty minutes and only had a starter! Restaurant was busy but not full. Ended up paying for starter and drink then home hungry. Was really looking forward to this but don’t think we’ll be back

Was here today 19/02/2025 treating my mum and my aunty. The food was outstanding very quick service clean.and lovely staff me and my aunty had the beef curry and it was amazing.all the courses whete well presented and good healthy portions all for £15’50. I wish I took photos you won’t be disappointed. I will be coming here again.

Amazing Thai green and red curry, served in the clay pot sizzler. Lovely egg noodles, not greasy. Young servers who were very polite and friendly. Loved it.

Absolutely superb in over 50 years of eating Chinese food this is the best Beef Curry that I’ve ever had. Starters and other meals were brill.👏👏

Decent food but too many occasions have called to order takeaway and they can’t be bothered answering the phone. Drive to restaurant to order, phone just rings and rings with no one interested in answering it.

I'm gluten free & nearly passed as chinese is never usually an option. For some reason I checked the menu, there was a large selection of gluten free food, & it's was amazing. Would highly recommend for gluten free food & if I'm ever back in Ayr I will most definitely be eating here

Staffed by teenagers who would rather gossip than serve the customers. They stand along a table and just yap. Not even busy and took ages to serve. Had to keep waving to catch their attention multiple times, won’t be back.

Excellent value for money 2 course menu, which not many places seem to offer now. Staff very knowledgeable about the dishes, able to describe dishes and what's in them without having to ask. Food excellent quality. Only thing missing is the old specials they used to do in Miller Road - they really were special

Can I ask Trip Advisor to update the address (they haven't been at Miller Rd for at least 2 years .. presently at 41 S Harbour Street Ayr) as I'm sure potential business may be lost if diners travel to the old address.

I want to make it clear that my review is the very long waiting time (over an hour) for a collection of food. The food itself was Lychee’s excellent quality but such a long wait is not acceptable and the solution to sort it out is straightforward. When I arrived there was a look of dismay it seemed that yet another customer had a need which would add to already problem night that they were having. Come on Lychee’s you can do better.

Was so looking forward to having lunch at lychees, as used to be a Great Restaurant in Miller Road.Sadly we were Very disappointed today, Waited 50 minutes :- Chicken Tempura ordered-Very Greasy thick battered chicken arrived. Spring Roll ordered-Very Greasy tasteless on arrival. Main course Malaysian Chicken satay ordered with boiled rice-dish arrived with the strangest looking chicken I’ve ever seen! Tasted as though someone had mixed up a very hot curry sauce. Mixed with Scotch Bonnet Chillies, Crispy shredded beef was just okay, The third member of our party walked out in disgust at their meal! Never once asked if everything was okay, despite the plates going back almost untouched. What a waste of £50.00! We won’t be back

I was looking forward to this takeaway as the reviews were good. The meal was good apart from the butterfly prawns they were inedible as they were burnt, also had to wait 30 mins extra so 90 mins wait, not to worried about that but if you're short on time could be a pain. So it was OK but don't think I'd go back

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Ayrshire .Typical “British Chinese” food done well. The staff are friendly and very attentive. Nice big restaurant ideal for any group size. Reasonably priced.

Terrible vegan/vegitarian dishes. Vegan dishes were poor, no added thought, veg or alternative, just meat removed from dish.

Another great meal at Lychees. We had 2 courses from the All Day menu and their curry sauce is still the best I've tasted. The staff are all lovely and the service is excellent. We will be back very soon. Thank you :)

Great value family meal here on a quite Friday afternoon. Fixed menu was very reasonably priced and all 3 of us loved every course of our 3 course meal.

Nice surroundings, decent service, poor food. Chicken satay on sticks very dry. Satay sauce lacking in flavour and had a slimy texture. Chicken chow mien, mostly just very thin noodles and very little chicken, bland and tasteless. Overall very disappointing.

Excited to order a take a way snack. Chicken and potato skins were superb. The noodles however were burnt, not well done but burnt.!

Went for a birthday meal and we had a great time. Food was very good and came in a timely manner, and the staff serving us were most friendly and handled everything superbly. The salt & chili King prawns in particular were absolutely delicious. Overall a good experience and one we will hopefully return to at some point in the future.

The food, when it eventually arrived, was good but the whole experience was ruined by the long wait. The restaurant was concentrating on takeaway deliveries. Best avoided unless you order a takeout delivery and have ur send to your table.

We booked a table for 18.45, arrived and were seated and asked about drinks,a few minutes later. The young waiter took our order we then waited over 50 minutes for our starters in the meantime I watched as two tables left without being served there food as they had waited to long I was also watching a stream of take away orders coming out of the kitchen in the time we had waited for our starters I counted 31 take away orders going out it would seem they are more interested in take always than restaurant customers staff are constantly apologising for late food I won’t return till they up there act in the restaurant and don’t book if you have later plans as you may be late.

First Chinese from Lychees since lockdown. Really disappointing. Spare Ribs were delicious, chicken satay, 6 very dried out skewers of chicken and a kung po that had soooooo much garlic in it that I will be tasting it for a week. Such a shame food used to be amazing. Won’t be back!!!

Christmas Day Dinner..... What can I say other than this was the best decision we have ever made!! We eat here regularly and love it but Christmas Day far outweighed our expectations. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and for £36.50 pp it was a bargain. At no point at all did we feel rushed and we were looked after so well. The staff are a credit to Lychees and so friendly and the manageress does a great job and it's clear to see the staff respect her and vice versa. We were in Lychees Ayr last week, a table for 10 and we couldn’t fault anything. Served quickly ( it’s not a race) and the food was 10 out of 10 The staff are exceptional we will return as soon as we can

Went for the early supper due to reading Trip Advisor reviews. Waited quite a while for my starter, which was delicious, then sat an hour waiting for my main course, despite asking the waitress twice where it was. Had to give up, pay for what I'd had and leave. Great shame, lovely place,great food (what I had!) but won;t return.

Arrived here around 5pm when the restaurant had just opened however it was very dimly lit inside. Decor was modern and we looked forward to dining. We selected our dishes and waited, and waited over 40 minutes for starters, I had to ask the staff what the hold up was. During our wait there was a constant flow of food going out for home delivery , this seemed like a priority. When our food arrived it was OK, I’ve had better but overall I didn’t feel like a valued customer.

My wife and I and sometimes the family of six people have been many times because it offers the very best value we have ever found. Great food and service and extremely reasonable prices.

Quick service and excellent tasting food as well has having good portion sizes. Enivorment was well kept and well decorated.

Everything was great, food was 1st class, services was great, it was good value for money and my parents loved their dinner. We had crispy shredded beef 10/10. Chicken Malaysian satay 11/10. Roast pork chow mein 10/10 and special fried rice 10/10.

Fantastic mid week special 3 courses for 7.95, great value and quality of food, staff nice - the ONLY thing that pull Lychees down is the entrance to the property getting over grown with weeds and a dirty old Skip at the side of it been there for months - get some weed killer and tidy up the front of your property, first impressions can put people off,

Great value lunch , our server was lovely, bottle of wine starter and 3 courses each for just over £35 . On the day we visited food couldn’t have been served up fresher and was of an excellent standard.
