Lychees-Ayr in South Ayrshire

Was so looking forward to having lunch at lychees, as used to be a Great Restaurant in Miller Road.Sadly we were Very disappointed today, Waited 50 minutes :- Chicken Tempura ordered-Very Greasy thick battered chicken arrived. Spring Roll ordered-Very Greasy tasteless on arrival. Main course Malaysian Chicken satay ordered with boiled rice-dish arrived with the strangest looking chicken I’ve ever seen! Tasted as though someone had mixed up a very hot curry sauce. Mixed with Scotch Bonnet Chillies, Crispy shredded beef was just okay, The third member of our party walked out in disgust at their meal! Never once asked if everything was okay, despite the plates going back almost untouched. What a waste of £50.00! We won’t be back

I was looking forward to this takeaway as the reviews were good. The meal was good apart from the butterfly prawns they were inedible as they were burnt, also had to wait 30 mins extra so 90 mins wait, not to worried about that but if you're short on time could be a pain. So it was OK but don't think I'd go back

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Ayrshire .Typical “British Chinese” food done well. The staff are friendly and very attentive. Nice big restaurant ideal for any group size. Reasonably priced.

Terrible vegan/vegitarian dishes. Vegan dishes were poor, no added thought, veg or alternative, just meat removed from dish.

Another great meal at Lychees. We had 2 courses from the All Day menu and their curry sauce is still the best I've tasted. The staff are all lovely and the service is excellent. We will be back very soon. Thank you :)

Great value family meal here on a quite Friday afternoon. Fixed menu was very reasonably priced and all 3 of us loved every course of our 3 course meal.

Nice surroundings, decent service, poor food. Chicken satay on sticks very dry. Satay sauce lacking in flavour and had a slimy texture. Chicken chow mien, mostly just very thin noodles and very little chicken, bland and tasteless. Overall very disappointing.

Excited to order a take a way snack. Chicken and potato skins were superb. The noodles however were burnt, not well done but burnt.!

Went for a birthday meal and we had a great time. Food was very good and came in a timely manner, and the staff serving us were most friendly and handled everything superbly. The salt & chili King prawns in particular were absolutely delicious. Overall a good experience and one we will hopefully return to at some point in the future.

The food, when it eventually arrived, was good but the whole experience was ruined by the long wait. The restaurant was concentrating on takeaway deliveries. Best avoided unless you order a takeout delivery and have ur send to your table.

We booked a table for 18.45, arrived and were seated and asked about drinks,a few minutes later. The young waiter took our order we then waited over 50 minutes for our starters in the meantime I watched as two tables left without being served there food as they had waited to long I was also watching a stream of take away orders coming out of the kitchen in the time we had waited for our starters I counted 31 take away orders going out it would seem they are more interested in take always than restaurant customers staff are constantly apologising for late food I won’t return till they up there act in the restaurant and don’t book if you have later plans as you may be late.

Our first visit here due to @Home Thai being closed, it won't be our last. Food was very good, staff super friendly and premises nice and clean. A very enjoyable meal and experience, we will return.

First Chinese from Lychees since lockdown. Really disappointing. Spare Ribs were delicious, chicken satay, 6 very dried out skewers of chicken and a kung po that had soooooo much garlic in it that I will be tasting it for a week. Such a shame food used to be amazing. Won’t be back!!!

Visited here after taking the kids bowling. Ate from the special menu. Think it was two courses for 8/9 quid. Excellent value and decent sized portions. Service was fantastic and food was delishious. Was so good a few nights later we ordered a carry out from them which was of the same standard. Would highly recommend.

Christmas Day Dinner..... What can I say other than this was the best decision we have ever made!! We eat here regularly and love it but Christmas Day far outweighed our expectations. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and for £36.50 pp it was a bargain. At no point at all did we feel rushed and we were looked after so well. The staff are a credit to Lychees and so friendly and the manageress does a great job and it's clear to see the staff respect her and vice versa. Went for the early supper due to reading Trip Advisor reviews. Waited quite a while for my starter, which was delicious, then sat an hour waiting for my main course, despite asking the waitress twice where it was. Had to give up, pay for what I'd had and leave. Great shame, lovely place,great food (what I had!) but won;t return.

Arrived here around 5pm when the restaurant had just opened however it was very dimly lit inside. Decor was modern and we looked forward to dining. We selected our dishes and waited, and waited over 40 minutes for starters, I had to ask the staff what the hold up was. During our wait there was a constant flow of food going out for home delivery , this seemed like a priority. When our food arrived it was OK, I’ve had better but overall I didn’t feel like a valued customer.

My wife and I and sometimes the family of six people have been many times because it offers the very best value we have ever found. Great food and service and extremely reasonable prices.

This has been our second visit to Lychees and have not been disappointed. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend anyone visiting Ayr to visit this restaurant.

Everything was great, food was 1st class, services was great, it was good value for money and my parents loved their dinner. We had crispy shredded beef 10/10. Chicken Malaysian satay 11/10. Roast pork chow mein 10/10 and special fried rice 10/10.

Fantastic mid week special 3 courses for 7.95, great value and quality of food, staff nice - the ONLY thing that pull Lychees down is the entrance to the property getting over grown with weeds and a dirty old Skip at the side of it been there for months - get some weed killer and tidy up the front of your property, first impressions can put people off,

Me and my family visited here for my brothers 21st on 1st June and we all have all caught severe food poisoning! Including my 15 month old who is really struggling. We witness a member of staff vomiting in the restaurant bathroom and stated the manager shouldn’t let her go home. So she has either passed on her big to us all or it was undercooked food. Either way highly unprofessional to have a sick member of staff working whole serving food, and the service was extremely slow. Definitely won’t be back.

Visited with my husband early on Saturday evening. Quite a few folk already in, couples, groups and families. Beautiful restaurant with a Thai Fusion menu. Menu varied and prices very reasonable, especially the wine menu. The wine was £7+ per bottle cheaper than the restaurant we were in the previous evening.

One thing that always impresses me is the knowledge the staff have of the dishes when you ask any questions, especially given the size of the menu. Also good at giving recommendations. Some comment on the speed of service, but food is cooked fresh to order and it shows. Have a habit of always having dumplings and chicken and prawn laksa curry, as they are so good. However everything else that comes to the table looks and tastes good too. Good price too

This was the worst restaurant i have ever visited awful service that we had to wait over two hours to be served in a not so busy enviroment, they cared more about getting their takeaway meals ready and delivered to be bothered about us paying customers there was nine of us in total which ment spending alot of money they did discount the bill by £30 we all would have prefered to pay full price for a better service and food

Every time I've ordered takeaway here they are 20-30 mins later than the time they say they will be. Good quality good when you (eventually) get it!

It's only the lack of heating on a number of occasions which stops this getting a top score. You won't regret going for the quality, choice and presentation of the food but you won't linger long either because, yup, you guessed, its cold.

Was visiting Ayr for the weekend and came across this restaurant as it was next to our hotel. Checked trip advisor for reviews. Wasn’t sure about it as there was mixed reviews. We decided to try it. We were not disappointed. The food was lovely and tasty and great value for money £7.95 for 2 courses and £8.95 for 3. The food was presented well will lovely plates. I also had a drink and it came in a lovely glass. The service was excellent, staff were lovely and very polite. Would definitely recommend it.

Very disappointing. This is our Betwixtmas meal out every year and we always look forward to it. Ever again! Only two tables dining, ours (2 adults, 3kids) the other one of 3 adults. 45 mins for starters of 2 chicken noodle soup - basically unflavoured tap water with poorly boiled tasteless chicken chunks, and 3 deep fried dishes which were nice but should have been ready in 10 mins max.

We live in Ayr and since we discovered Lychees we have regularly had lunch there. The food is always excellent, and extremely good value. The staff are always pleasant, professional, helpful and attentive. When time permits we will visit for an evening meal. We have eaten in many restaurants in Ayr, and Lychees is the best oriental restaurant , and equal first of all restaurants we have visited. Highly recommended.

We visited here after friends recommended it & had a fabulous meal,we had the special menu as we ate early,my husband loves cream of chicken soup & it wasn’t on the special menu but waitress said it wouldn’t be a problem & got served it,our meals was piping hot & everything so fresh,we will definitely be back & May even bring all the family,service was great too,thanks for a great dining experience

Ordered a large and varied take away to celebrate a birthday of work colleague. I have to say the food was excellent and very quick service. This is the first time at Lychees will definitely be back.

I normally like to write positively about places I visit but I'm afraid that the standards set at Lychees falls well below what any reasonable visitor to the establishment would expect. Service was incredibly slow throughout our stay. As part of a large group I would have thought that our custom would have been more favourably welcomed. However after ordering drinks they were delivered one by one with a member of waiting staff traipsing back and forward to the bar for each drink. Lack of attention by waiting staff meant that meal orders were taken over half an hour after we arrived. Starters eventually arrived after a considerable time in waiting. Other guests arriving at small booths were tended to much quicker than us and had meal served more promptly. Despite complaining about the service and after a full two hours had elapsed with no main courses being served we regrettably decided to leave. Unfortunately I am therefore unable to comment on the quality of the food being served. It was a most disappointing end to an evening.
