Great quality Chinese takeaway. My parents always order from here when I'm down visiting, food has always been high quality. Reason for 4* review is the very recent (August 2024) increase in prices by up to £2 PER DISH! I've attached screenshots of the new menu. I appreciate this is a coastal town so expect to pay a little more, but almost £10 per dish is a little excessive. Have your competitors increased by the same margins? If not I feel you may end up losing some business.

We have been coming here for well over 5-6 years and I honestly can say I've never had a bad meal. Every time I've Been away and had Chinese food somewhere else I am always disappointed. Tim and the family do am amazing job and the food is outstanding 👏 Crispy chilli beef is beautiful 😍 Hot fried rice (with the sauce) 🤤 If you're looking for a good place to go look no further get down to Tim at new China cottage

Located in Bishop's Lydiard, a very good takeaway food, open 6 days a week between 5pm and 10 pm..open also on bank holidays 😀 You can place your order over the phone and go pick it up so you don't have to wait over there, they don't do any deliveries. Good food, good service. Definitely recommended...enjoy it

We enjoyed a fabulous takeaway at home with friends. The portions are substantia, so we had inadvertantly over-ordered. But we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank goodness! - as we've been searching for good chinese cooking for some time, from exeter to plymouth, and this is head & shoulders above the others. We ordered a variety, including Duck with pancakes, singapore vermicelli, sweet and sour pork and king prawn, sambal chicken , chicken chow mein and a few sides. Everything was spot on and though many dishes were fried; they were not "heavy" or greasy. (only minor glitch were the pancake rolls were a little too thin.) Overall, a really first-class meal was enjoyed by all. The web site is a little cumbersome but you can order more/less spicy; or no pork/meat or whatever, so tailor-made to your taste. We only wish they would offer this quality of food in a warm cosy and welcoming restaurant; but it appeared to be as bleak as when we last ate in. A shame as the kitchen is evidently good.

Come in to the shop to order take away on Saturday evening. Floor in the shop was wet and no sign was display. I Fell over and twisted my wrist and my ankle. Absolutely unacceptable. I will never visit this place again! For first you should display sign before you start cleaning your floor for second never mop the floor when your establishment is still open for customers!

I popped into Chungs' this evening to grab some food for the family after work and we were pleasantly surprised with what we had. The lady on the counter was really lovely and friendly, and the chap at the back came out and smiled too. Our meal for three people came to around £11 which is incredibly good value, and tasty at that! We mainly had sausage and chips and chips with curry sauce, but still really good value. The portions were a good size and there was ample choice on the menu. It's a cash only establishment, but that's not a problem as the shop next door has a free ATM so no difficulties there. The shop itself is very clean and tidy, and there are chairs available if you need to wait for your meal to cook.
