I only ordered 2 soups qsked for a delivery charge but not certain! Even gave him a postcode only cash accepted why? Just was eating this takeaway to another one we use no comparison!

What a shame.. Ordered from here with the missus the other day and I'm sad to say it will be the last time.. The food was really greasey and neither of us enjoyed it at all... Nothing like it used to be really gone down hill.

Nice food but chips and prawn crackers often taste like they're reheated from yesterday. Also no card payments. Sadly have started going elsewhere.

It's our only choice for Chinese takeaway. They do not serve dine-in, do have delivery. No attempt at atmosphere, just a kitchen with a counter in the front, and room for 2-3 customers standing at counter for pickup. But the food is terrific!

The place uses jar sauce watered down as much as possible The kid on the front taking orders has the attitude of a small rat They serve the worst food in paington had to return the food due to it being nowere near what is real food Order also arrived cold and ribs were just bones in a watered down sause.... Response was oh well its fast food. Rancid people

Worst Chinese meal I’ve ever had. Knew I was in trouble when all the dishes looked the same colour, grey. I seemed to have spent £17 on bean sprouts even though I ordered beef and black bean, prawn chow mein and Char Sui. This chef/cook needs to learn how to cook. Awful.

Lovely food.. lovely staff.. but cash only.. there is a cashpoint round the corner..so not all was lost.

We're in town on holiday,and my wife fancied a Chinese meal,to take back to our Caravan. Found The Golden Lily, purely by chance,and i'm glad we did! Lovely food,especially my spare ribs. It's cash only though,so go prepared. Well worth it though. Highly recommended

I love this place but unfortunately they where unable to put some salt on my chips due to the boss not being there. Sad I know but I won’t be returning if they can’t deal with this situation

Tasty curries and always amazing food

I stumbled upon this Chinese the other night after trying nearly all the Chinese in the Bay. The Chinese curry is excellent, the omelette and chips lovely, The singapore chow mein delicious and the prawn crackers the best I've had! Light, fresh and delicious. Did I mention the ribs!!! Absolutely fall apart and are so tasty. The man that answers the phone is a pleasure to talk to and order your food..perhaps the owner? lovely man. The delivery guy! Great. Found a difficult to find house..without ringing up and the food going cold. The food has been piping hot when delivered and the delivery guy arrives swiftly. I'm so pleased I've found a great Chinese after trying nearly all the Chineses in the Bay and most being mediocre or poor! Thank you Golden Lilly for making me LOVE Chinese food again. 5 Stars from me and my partner. We won't go anywhere else again! The lady in the Blue house.

We've been searching for 4 years in the Bay to find a great Chinese...non have ever been close , until the other night when I discovered this excellent Chinese when " my usual not so great Chinese" I use to go to didn't answer their phone. My gain!!! As I discovered the Golden Lilly instead! Ordered twice in one week. The prawn crackers are light , fresh and amazing! The ribs are the best I've ever had, the curry is amazing! The singerpore Chow Mein was delicious and the omelette and chips tasty. Can't wait to sample more as I've been looking for a great Chinese like this for 4 years since moving here. The man on the phone is always a pleasure to talk to and order your food with...he's very friendly and good at his job..could be the owner... The delivery man is great! He found a very difficult house to find as other Chinese delivery people in the past have never found the house and the food ends up going cold ! and another plus with Golden Lily is it arrives swiftly and is piping hot! 5 stars from me. Now I get excited to have a Chinese and it doesn't feel like a dread when you want a takeaway. Keep up the excellent food and service. Thank you! The lady in blue house.

Very good overall. Sweet n sour chicken balls, spare ribs and boiled rice very tasty, decent sized portions, with obviously fresh and crunchy vegetables. Good value and courteously served. No website and cash only a slight hindrance, but waiting time only 12min, and nearby on street parking ok after six pm. Recommended.

Always hot and fresh good value

I've been coming here since 1986, only using other Chinese takeaways when Golden Lily was closed or before they started delivering. Great prices. Love the food, delivery is always faster than the phone ETA. The guys in the shop are lovely and always give a great service. One small criticism, *sometimes* it feels like the chips and prawn crackers have been reheated from earlier on in the day if you order early evening. Not always but occasionally.

This takeaway can be a bit hit & miss depending on how busy they are. If overly busy, food can be a bit below par and seems to be rushed, however on quiet times, can be excellent.

Love this Chinese! Always good quality, tasty food, and doesn't leave that heavy sick feeling after, like some take outs do. I usually order to deliver so wait time is usually around 45mins but that's no problem for me and food always arrives hot. Best Chinese in my opinion.

Had first take away from Golden Lily last night , excellent telephone order very helpful , food delivered exactly when they said and the quality was superb , well done.

Phoned in on Friday Friday 27th. Order taken by the usual lady always laughing. Ordered four dishes and some more for 7 o clock. I asked how much it was and told that it was £23.00 exactly. 7.15 came and i rang to ask what time it was coming. I was told that I had ordered our meal for 7.30 ??. She said that it will arrive in 40 minutes. The delivery driver arrived and then told me that it was £26.00. I questioned how it had gone up and he phoned the shop. They said that i could have it for £25.00. I paid the money but really felt let down after using the golden lily for years. It left a bitter taste in the mouth. We will think again about ordering a take away. John.

I have lived down here now nearly 30 years and have used the golden lily . I have tried other takeaways in that time but nothing can compare to the quality and service.

Superb as always. One of the best for a Chinese Curry. Their crispy chilli beef is also one of the best. Gets very busy on a Saturday evening and wait times can be very long, so best to phone order in beforehand

tried their beef curry along with BBQ spare ribs. Curry has no peas or mushrooms and was a watery tasteless mess. Spare ribs were dry and over cooked. I thinks you are best with Honeymoon just round the corner as it knocks spots off this place. Will not be trying again !!!

Great reviews tried it but shocking chinese food can't wait to get back to the chinese quarter in birmingham for proper chinese food the cooks most be of the streets , satay chicken in wet gravy lol Singapore chow mein looks like a starter cook has cooked no flavour may have been plain don't know never ever visit again

Staff very rude. One assisant in a pink top did not even talk or take my order just stood stareing at me. So say best in paington will not use again on next visit

hi down here on holiday and just picked up a take away, fantastic meal, pancake rolls are the best, crispy beef brilliant as was the pork curry.

We moved to Paignton in the summer and have tried most Chinese takeaways to find the best one. This is by far our favourite! The staff are so welcoming, the food is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely recommend to family and friends!

Definatly the best Chinese take away for miles and miles.

So I ordered was told 10-15 minutes arrived at 15 minutes and was told come back in 10... Came back in 10 to not even be acknowledged by staff upon my return to stand around and wait for another 10 minutes!!! So in total 35 minutes for your 10-15.... The special fried rice was a very light coloured rice which well I'm used to dark but everyone is different it was absolutely tasteless a bland rice topped with chewy slimy meat that actually made me gag so went back in the tub... The prawns popped as you bit into them really not a good start and noticing the chicken throughout the rice was grey in colour is not advertising... BBQ sauce to top which was pink didn't have a bad taste it would have to have a taste to begin with to be bad and this had none... Sweet n sour sauce was glue like honestly that's the only way I can describe it and again no taste what so ever... I was hoping to cover the tasteless rice with something but apparently not... Curry cause was bitty and overly peppery taste Chips reheated and dregs Oh and prawn crackers were free but still were stale that's why they're given away... It looked like a dogs dinner I really tried to ignore that and good God the other half couldn't even finish he felt too sick to carry on Waste of money and time oh and BTW the wait.... It arrived luke warm at best! Go to kings Paignton her quality is by far superior to this place I will never try another place again because God when they said the phrase "like curry to a piss head" this places business must rely on that saying...

I didn't have a menu to order from but the gentleman who took the order couldn't have been more helpful. Prompt delivery and excellent value. Food was absolutely delicious.

We have been using this take away since it opened in 1971. It is by the far the best in the Bay Area. Food is always of a high standard and hot matching the welcome of the staff. I would not consider using anywhere else.

On the positive side, they were open when our regular takeaway was closed. Unfortunately the food had a congealed feel and certainly didn't seem that fresh. Nothing actually wrong with it just a low quality selection of meals. Very pleasant and helpful service though.

This for my wife and myself is the best and best value Chinesse in Paignton we've be using this one regularly for over 30years and never once have we had a bad meal but at peak times would recommend phoning thru an order as they are very popular and can get quite busy always a good takeaway

I don't like writing bad reviews. We had been recommended Golden Lily by a friend. We fancied something hot and spicy. Quick delivery was a bonus and the food was hot - it was all just bland. I suppose everyone is allowed a bad night but we were disappointed and won't be using Golden Lily again.

Have been using the Golden Lily for years, so many I can't remember. Really handy that they now deliver. Had our most recent just the night, it was delivered so fast I'd hardly put the phone down. It was lovely, hot too. Will continue to use them for as long as they continue to provide the lovely food.

We've had two meals from here, both were fantastic. I could not recommend them highly enough, speedy delivery and it was piping hot when it arrived.
