The best restaurants serving Chinese food in East of England

Went into the restaurant for a take-away. As I stood at the counter waiting for my order to be taken I was surprised to see a man behind the bar eating what appeared to be a chicken leg and a young boy eating a burger. Got home and the food was dire. Had ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style together with Crispy Duck, Egg Fried Rice and a Sweet & Sour Sauce. The Sweet & Sour Chicken was inedible and we had no option but to throw it all in the bin. There was virtually no sauce and the chicken was so overcooked that it was impossible to cut with a knife. The Crispy Duck was really salty and the Sweet & Sour Sauce was grainy and watery with a very strange colour.

Usually very good food but staff seem very preasured.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely appalling. My partner ordered again tonight as wanted to give you guys another chance as the food recently has been bad. Today 1/6/25 he found a DEEP FRIED COCKROACH with his meal!! Will never be returning!

The worst Chinese I have ever tasted. It all tasted so bland like it wasn't cooked fresh, from frozen and heated up in a microwave. Once upon a time when Yau's was still a restaurant (10 years ago) it was very good.

honestly, what a great find. food is great. we absolutely really enjoyed our takeaway from here. the food is extremely well priced and the food did not disappoint at all. the service was fantastic too, very friendly staff. 100% golden house now have return custom with me. its great to find a takeaway priced this well and not needing to remortgage your home to have it. also as of this post they have a 5 star food hygiene rating, which is a massive plus for them.

The best chinese in town, the others have a very 'sweet' taste and nowhere near as good in terms of quality or appearance. . Now offering local delivery which makes it so much easier for those with mobility issues. Call through your order and then collect is available. The staff are amazing and so helpful, they really go the extra mile to help. Currently they are cash only, which is a shame. Sadly not on Just Eat, that would make it perfect but I guess down to demand and would it be worthwhile.

After such a long time we ordered our usual from Tai Pan. Definately an improvement on flavour. Husband ordered the Chicken and I ordered the Beancurd in Black Bean Sauce. Just the right spice level. Daughter tried the Vegetarian Fried Vermicelli, Singapore Style, and she was happy with it. Slightly spicy for her. Portions sizes are generous. Look forward to our next visit.

Great food, very friendly staff. My parents have been a customer of the New Hong Kong for the best part of 50 years and I always make a point of using them when I visit Loughton. There seems to be a good reason for the phone being engaged often when you phone in an order because everyone wants the best Chinese food in Loughton. Cash only. Not a problem. Cash is King.

Amazing food and great English on the phone which makes ordering a pleasure without a heavy language barrier which makes people like me with a deadly pea allergy happy they can understand and remove it from the rice, the only two downsides is they don't deliver so you must pick it up and the inside of the building in the waiting area is freezing cold which can be a little problem during winter but it's well worth the painful cold ears and face when you're getting delicious food afterwards, it's always piping hot which makes it an amazing treat, just be warned it maybe a little greasy to handle but otherwise it's amazing, highly recommend

2.5 hours wait to have a cold greasy meal delivered.

Just moved to the village and we tried this last night for the first time, really enjoyed it, meat quality was good too. Will be back

Ordered a meal for one. However I ordered and paid for a curry sauce to go with it, which annoyingly was left out. Spoilt the meal. Check your order

Recently revisited this takeaway. The food is substandard and not worth the money. There was nothing special about there special fried rice or special chow mein, the odd prawn and tiny flecks of meat. The beef in the black bean sauce was tough and the texture of the chicken chicken in the black bean sauce was slimy/greasy.

what can i say five star all the way we drove from stanford le hope and was not disappointed by ANYTHING FOOD DECOR PEOPLE AND EASY ATMOSPHERE
