Always delicious, piping hot and delivered promptly with a smile. The lasses who answer the phones very pleasant too. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

The S&P ribs were lovely. The chicken chow mein was disappointing. Big strips of reheated chicken spoiled it, hardly any bean sprouts in it at all. The king prawn balls were disappointing too. Batter too over cooked.

Awful experience meal for one no vegetables as requested/ Dry Mealy and downright Nasty no meat either. Stay Clear Minus Stars

I have used and recommended this takeaway for many years on a regular basis as have all my family and friends. After collecting a recent order i returned home to find it was missing dishes including the only vegetarian option for a guest. When I called to ask for these dishes to be sent out I was laughed at.......told it would be a long wait......and asked to pay for these dishes again. The man on the phone was disgustingly rude and laughed when I said how upset and disgusted I was with his customer service. Will not return to this takeaway again and will advise all family and friends to do the same.

Brilliant food, great price and cooked really quickly. Second day had food delivered to camp site, again really quick service.

We regularly use the Phoenix and rate it easily the best Chinese takeaway in the area and always receive excellent service and food. Can recommend the dry spare ribs and Kung Po chicken.

Had a chinese takeaway from here a couple of weeks ago, the starters were just 'OK' the won toup soup a bit tasteless. However, the problem being we ordered a King prawn in yellow bean sauce, and received pork in yellow bean sauce... Not ideal when the person it was for is a vegetarian... Dinner ruined for them. As for my Crispy chilli beef, it was just 'OK' and the vegetable noodles dry and bland. Shame but this is the last time I order from Phoenix, need to find a better takeaway in the area! To top it all off, it's quite expensive as well!

My meal was very nice. My only comments would be that the prawn balls were overcooked, when I sliced into the end the batter pinged off my plate. I was missing plum sauce with my pancake starter. The aromatic lamb is sooo crispy that some of it can be quite chewy, giving me jaw ache. Singapore noodles and satay chicken were very tasty and food still hot.

We probably use Phoenix a little more than we should. The food is consistent and they are always very open and honest about delivery waiting times. The menu is quite standard but we have never been disappointed.

We regularly order our Chinese from here and have never been disappointed! The special battered king prawns in yellow bean sauce are amazing! Always super fast to deliver and great service too! Cannot understand the bad reviews!

This is our favorite Chinese takeaway, the food is consitantly good, very tasty and when we have used their delivery service its always been on time even though our house is not easy to find.

Spent £42 on a takeaway from this restaurant last night came on time but that was the only positive thing I can say about the meal. There was a large quantity of food but it was all over cooked and very dry This was the time I have used this restaurant and it will be the last most of it went in the bin

Tasty food and not greasy at all. Found this take out by chance but glad we ordered. But of a wait for food. Good to have parking at the back.

Ordered food bang on 5pm tonight hoping to get a quick delivery. It was FAR from that ..... had a phone call at 5.55pm from the delivery person to say he was in town and could not find our house ! We have used Phoenix to the point they know our number when we call AND where we live. We gave delivery driver our postcode again. 15 mins later he said he was outside no.7 and we live at no.6, went outside hoping for food but nowhere to be seen !! We called Phoenix and they were very unhelpful, we were paying nearly £30 for our food so we just cancelled the order as there is nothing worse than cold Chinese food !! Will be finding a new Chinese takeaway in future

I moved to Colchester a year ago and I have tried out loads of Chinese takeaways from different takeaways/resturants (my favourite food).

Great prices. Great portions. Great taste. What more can be said really. Definitely recommend this Chinese

This is pretty much the only Chinese take away we use.

This has been our regular Chinese takeaway for over 6 years & we have never had a problem with the order, the delivery, the quality or the service.

I live 3.8 mile away from this Chinese takeaway and this is by far the best one in Colchester for taste and quality . I get free delivery and the food is fantastic .

We buy around two takeaways from here a month, sometimes just the two of us others for large family dinners, the food is always very tasty and well served.

I have have ordered Chinese from all the takeaways in the area and this is by far the best. You can go in and see into the kitchen and see that it is clean. It is value for money.

During a weekend away with friends in Stanway, Colchester in Essex, we ordered takeaways from the Phoenix, that serves authentic, high quality Cantonese food.

Was recommended this take away and used for the first time last week. More expensive than our regular take away but don’t mind spending a little more for good food. They got one of the dishes wrong but good apart from that.

Yet anothermoderate take away their web site looked impressive and after disappointing meals from my regular Chinese I thought I would try this one unfortunately a mistake colouring and flavourings a plenty leaving after taste and dry mouth lasting till next day .

I used to use these all the time, 5 star hygiene and good food, with the bonus they deliver, but sadly after 3 wrong orders in a row they’ve lost my custom, main meals missing, meat in a veggie meal and a meal completely wrong, customer service isn’t great, they offer to redeliver but what’s the point when the rest of your meal will need to be eaten or gone cold?

A regular here at this family run location. It's a nice eat, always good dependable food and service. Can't complain. Give them a try.

First time I have ever used Phoenix. Always a bit of a risk, but it did have a 5* Hygiene rating which did give me some confidence. I ordered on the phone after seeing the menu and picked the food up after just 10 minutes.
