Best chinese in colchester, and I drive all across town just to get it now I’ve moved to north colchester/between Langham and Ardleigh. Cannot fault it, and super friendly staff.

Try the spring rolls,! A meal by themselves , (fantastic)

Food was freshly cooked but quite small portions. For £25 one expects a full belly but left wanting more. Hence, it felt like being ripped off. Tasty food but not good value for money.

Always delicious, piping hot and delivered promptly with a smile. The lasses who answer the phones very pleasant too. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Quick to order, excellent polite front of house and the meal was delicious. This is now our go to Chinese in Colchester.

Delicious takeaway. Kung Po chicken, duck spring roll with sticky plum sauce, egg fried rice and sweet & sour balls. Tasted fresh and the best Chinese we’ve had for a while in Colchester. Probably our new regular.

Best Chinese Takeaway in London Road Colchester by a mile. The food is actually cooked somewhat different to some of the others that will no doubt hospitalise people!!!

Good staff at the front desk. Good food as well. The waiting room are clean and tidy. Perfect locations just by the main street so its easy to find. Parking are available behind and just need to register your car to the front desk staff. Ordered dinner as takeaway, the chips were good and not greasy, crackers not greasy and i can tell it was fried in clean oil, roast pork sechuan in my taste was a bit to sweet next time will try to ask less sweet, chicken curry was good and the chicken perfectly cooked, spicy salt and chili chicken was dry not greasy and slightly crispy which i liked. Will be happy to come back again.

This place is always very good, very tasty, staff very polite, very quick and reliable. After over an hour wait for food else where on Mother's Day, we ordered here to save our evening xxx much recommend, a safe regular

Had a meal tonight the noodles were very under cooked, boardering on raw and hardly any chicken. Chips were awful hard and over cooked. Was not impressed and could not be bothered to walk back to return it.

Ordered over the phone and spoke to a lovely young lady who took the order and payment quickly and efficiently. The food arrived promptly and was hot upon arrival. No complaints about the food, it was not greasy at all and was exactly what we ordered.

The best dinner ever tonight. Loved it. Okay I love this place. I see some unhappy reviews so I will share some more. We order plain chow mein, egg fried rice, sweet & sour chicken balls, kung po hot chilli chicken and chicken in black bean sauce. It is always fantastic food, it's a treat that never disappoints. For me / us it's first choice for Chinese food.

The S&P ribs were lovely. The chicken chow mein was disappointing. Big strips of reheated chicken spoiled it, hardly any bean sprouts in it at all. The king prawn balls were disappointing too. Batter too over cooked.

Haven't visited in 2 yrs. Portions are smaller, rice under cooked and no prawn crackers at nearly £11 poor value for money, won't visit again

Tried this one a few times just to make sure it wasn't just a bad one because they were busy. Below average I'm afraid , everything deep fried over cooked ect .Like most off them Around Colchester !!! Shame

Top quality food, tasty and always hot on arrival... very accurate delivery times. On the other side of Town to where we live. but well worth the small delivery charge.

It was more like Indian taste than chinese or bit of both mixed.

I have used and recommended this takeaway for many years on a regular basis as have all my family and friends. After collecting a recent order i returned home to find it was missing dishes including the only vegetarian option for a guest. When I called to ask for these dishes to be sent out I was laughed at.......told it would be a long wait......and asked to pay for these dishes again. The man on the phone was disgustingly rude and laughed when I said how upset and disgusted I was with his customer service. Will not return to this takeaway again and will advise all family and friends to do the same.

We regularly use the Phoenix and rate it easily the best Chinese takeaway in the area and always receive excellent service and food. Can recommend the dry spare ribs and Kung Po chicken.

Absolutely delicious Chinese take-away with some guests tonight, everything was nicely cooked, arrived quickly, would definitely order from again. One slight criticism, we ordered a lot of food, an extra bag of prawn crackers would’ve been nice rather then just the one.

Absolute 5 star place. I've tried loads of takeaways and eat in restaurants and this place is my favourite for taste, quality and value. Spot on every time no matter the time or day. You won't be disappointed!

Had a chinese takeaway from here a couple of weeks ago, the starters were just 'OK' the won toup soup a bit tasteless. However, the problem being we ordered a King prawn in yellow bean sauce, and received pork in yellow bean sauce... Not ideal when the person it was for is a vegetarian... Dinner ruined for them. As for my Crispy chilli beef, it was just 'OK' and the vegetable noodles dry and bland. Shame but this is the last time I order from Phoenix, need to find a better takeaway in the area! To top it all off, it's quite expensive as well!

My meal was very nice. My only comments would be that the prawn balls were overcooked, when I sliced into the end the batter pinged off my plate. I was missing plum sauce with my pancake starter. The aromatic lamb is sooo crispy that some of it can be quite chewy, giving me jaw ache. Singapore noodles and satay chicken were very tasty and food still hot.

Me and my partner ordered last night never had a problem before but we new there was something different about the chicken in the curry and we have both been up all night on the toilet being sick and Diarrhoea woke up this morning and still are stomachs are in bits this one bad experience has now put us off

Bloody disgusting...says closes at 11pm but wont answer at 10.30 !!!!

We probably use Phoenix a little more than we should. The food is consistent and they are always very open and honest about delivery waiting times. The menu is quite standard but we have never been disappointed.

We regularly order our Chinese from here and have never been disappointed! The special battered king prawns in yellow bean sauce are amazing! Always super fast to deliver and great service too! Cannot understand the bad reviews!

Just ordered a number 85 King prawn ginger dish, hot and sour chips and fried rice. I always ask for my rice to be cooked like you would get it up in my home town in Newcastle and Phoenix cook it to perfection without hesitation (rice cooked brown with more soy sauce). Best Chinese in Colchester and I dare say in most parts of the country . Great customer service whilst on the phone and also delivery time is great 👌

Great tasting food, at a reasonable price. I defiantly recommend this fast food if you want western Chinese food fast, but with a delicious taste. Sometimes the noodles are a bit dry, but you can purchase a sauce to go with it. I've never personally had and issues here, neither have anyone else I know. Please consider this westernized Chinese food if you ever fancy anything greasy and delicious.

This is the third time we have had a bad takeaway from here pork balls tough as old boots chicken with mixed vegetables like a flavourless stew and bamboo shoots which were watery flavourless and when you complain no one seems to care this is the third time with give them the benefit of the doubt each time they have never offered a refund think we've now had it with this Chinese 3 is more than enough chances

This is our favorite Chinese takeaway, the food is consitantly good, very tasty and when we have used their delivery service its always been on time even though our house is not easy to find.

Spent £42 on a takeaway from this restaurant last night came on time but that was the only positive thing I can say about the meal. There was a large quantity of food but it was all over cooked and very dry This was the time I have used this restaurant and it will be the last most of it went in the bin

Extraordinary food, extraordinary service. Fast and friendly with delicious food. Prices were fair and portions were large. Highly advise going there for every meal of the day, and they are open late (compared to other UK stores, as the British are notorious for being lazy lards).

Lovely food. The capital spare ribs are amazing. Crispy duck is always a great portion and the hoisin plum sauce sublime!

Ordered food bang on 5pm tonight hoping to get a quick delivery. It was FAR from that ..... had a phone call at 5.55pm from the delivery person to say he was in town and could not find our house ! We have used Phoenix to the point they know our number when we call AND where we live. We gave delivery driver our postcode again. 15 mins later he said he was outside no.7 and we live at no.6, went outside hoping for food but nowhere to be seen !! We called Phoenix and they were very unhelpful, we were paying nearly £30 for our food so we just cancelled the order as there is nothing worse than cold Chinese food !! Will be finding a new Chinese takeaway in future

I moved to Colchester a year ago and I have tried out loads of Chinese takeaways from different takeaways/resturants (my favourite food).

Great prices. Great portions. Great taste. What more can be said really. Definitely recommend this Chinese

I live 3.8 mile away from this Chinese takeaway and this is by far the best one in Colchester for taste and quality . I get free delivery and the food is fantastic .

Was recommended this take away and used for the first time last week. More expensive than our regular take away but don’t mind spending a little more for good food. They got one of the dishes wrong but good apart from that.

Yet anothermoderate take away their web site looked impressive and after disappointing meals from my regular Chinese I thought I would try this one unfortunately a mistake colouring and flavourings a plenty leaving after taste and dry mouth lasting till next day .

I used to use these all the time, 5 star hygiene and good food, with the bonus they deliver, but sadly after 3 wrong orders in a row they’ve lost my custom, main meals missing, meat in a veggie meal and a meal completely wrong, customer service isn’t great, they offer to redeliver but what’s the point when the rest of your meal will need to be eaten or gone cold?

Outstanding Chinese with reasonable prices

This place is great. Pleasant phone and delivery staff (we always opt for delivery). Reasonable prices and well cooked tasty food. We have ordered from here twice since moving to the area and this is now our 'go to' for Chinese takeaway.
