very friendly and very delicious food!

Far too spicy!! Had a pad Thai and a sheshwan chicken - both dishes very uninteresting and FULL of chilli. It made it inedible for us all and we had to bin the lot. Really disappointing

I went with my sister in law, we had a wonderful evening, we had not booked a table but they accommodated us and the food was delicious, the gentleman serving us was very good. would highly recommend. Very nice food.

Good food as always. it was delicious. The service was a bit hit and miss, with the wrong items ordered ( but was very tasty). The venue is very tiny and it felt like the waiters were staring at us throughout the whole meal. It was also extremely hot.the air con was not on . But the food is delicious so I would go again.

the food was delayed, but the restaurant apologized when I called to see where the food was. They remade my order and I recieved it fresh and hot. It was a delivery driver issue

Salt chilli king prawn was delicious, so was the rest of the food chips were a little soggy but luckily I like them like that haha thanks

Awful we ordered chicken balls and chow mein also prawn crackers and chips am now sick from this place food was awful sweet and sour sauce so runny chips awful chicken balls really dry chow mein and just noodles it had a few meat in wich was horrid and fatty will not be ordering again. (NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AWFUL)

Apart from the wait time, but expected as probably the only Chinese open on a Monday! The food was amazing, very very tasty and fresh, 9 out of 10, would of been 10 out of 10 but had to shred the duck lol! Defo will be using from now on :)

Ordered from Uber eats from them and they kept me waiting out in the rain and said they won’t give me my food until I accept the order even though I want the one who ordered it was my friend

Went today for the £22.50 Sunday buffet. Food was simply amazing and served piping hot and as ordered off menu, was very fresh. Tempura prawns were delicious and portions very good and food very nicely presented. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't fault anything. We will definitely be back!!

The girl taking our orders insisted on us ordering by number from the menu. Starters of tom yum and wun ton soup were tasty , albeit a bit on the small side. Then our waitress came back to review our mains order as she had written 150 which is not on the menu ( it should have been 115 ) We'd ordered the lamb black bean and also prawn, ginger and spring onion sizzling platters with rice. We were given silly little bowls for eating out of, far too small to be practical. The lamb , although tasty, was tough as old boots. And the prawn and ginger was downright bland, I was actually wondering if the chef had omitted to include the ginger at all. And although we both b ordered different wines, she also gave us both exactly the same one. A very underwhelming experience

Terrible, not sure it was we arrived at 9 pm but the food was absolutely disgusting. Ribs like they had be cooked over and over again chilli beef the same. Noodles we totally left black in colour and disgusting 🤮 . friendly enough people but as far as the food goes it’s a definite no no. Not recommended

We popped in here for dinner early in the week. We have had takeaways from this restaurant quite a few times and have always enjoyed them. We thought the food was very tasty and we really enjoyed the selection of dishes we had. Service was very good and efficient, and we were made to feel very welcome.

We tried here after such a bad experience at Zizzi to such a different attitude as a family business . Go out of their way to accommodate you and food was good and reasonable price. You could see they appreciate your custom and offer excellent customer service ...highly recommend ..

I've eaten here quite a few times because there is always a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and a good choice of affordable food. There's also a cheap carpark within two minutes walk from the restaurant.

We bought from here because the reviews looked good but what a mistake!! Worse Chinese I’ve ever had the special foo young was just scrambled egg and it had broken egg shell in it! the rest was tasteless the prawn crackers were yellow and hard.. definitely wont be going back 🤢

We went to this restaurant at the weekend who hosted my Dads 80th Birthday meal and they did a pan absolutely fantastic job. The food was amazing the seating was great given that the restaurant isn’t huge and the staff were all so polite helpful efficient and friendly and looked after us so well. My Dad enjoyed himself so much it made his birthday special. We would all highly recommend Chinatown as the entire experience was brilliant from start to finish thank you SO MUCH.

This restaurant is extremely under rated. Visited here yesterday evening as a last minute decision for dinner. One of the best Chinese meals I've had. The staff were lovely and made sure we were well looked after. Highly recommend. Thank you China Town for a lovely meal :)

Very friendly service, welcoming restaurant, parking nearby with ample disabled spaces. The restaurant serves delicious food, try the lemon grass and soy sauce sizzling chicken! cold drinks and gratuitous carafes of water if you ask. Highly recommend.

Colchester is blessed with a couple of outstanding Chinese restaurants; one in the town centre and the other on its outskirts. This was the third or fourth time I’ve been to Chinatown and although I had enjoyed my previous visits, the service had been slow...

ordered egg fried rice, kung po chicken, beef chow mein, chicken balls sweet and sour sauce and beef curry after being told they dont do special curry. egg fried rice????? wasn't even fried. was soggy boiled rice with half a tsp of egg. was rank. kung po chicken didnt even taste right. was just a sweet sticky sauce that had no flavour to it. chow main noodles where soggy. next to nothing of beef in it. chicken balls was huge but a small piece of chicken with loads of batter. didn't receive my beef curry. instead they sent me crispy chilli beef that was just batter!!!!! no beef what so ever... and cost 35 blxxxdy pound!!!! called to complain they was very rude. this chinese takaway are using all the tricks to scam you... please avoid and try ANY OTHER CHINESE TAKEAWAY. or why not try for yourself to experience the worst chinese takeaway in the uk. this takeaway should be shut down ASAP!!!!!

Chinatown is a fantastic place to eat in or takeaway aa the food is amazing! I have eaten there since it first opened and the business is family run and Ivy is an excellent hostess with great customer service skills. Definitely recommend to everyone Colchesters own little Chinatown!

The lady who runs the restaurant treated me and a group of friends unfairly. We got to the restaurant around 9:55 and just as we were about to go in, a lady locked the doors turned the open sign to close and turned off the restaurant lights. Now I've been to this restaurant before and I know that it closes at 10:30pm (also advertised on Google).Its the fact that She didn't even give us a chance to say anything, she didn't look us in the eye..., just nothing. The whole experience just put me off because I am a person of color and the uncertainty of the reasoning for the motivation of these actions scares me. The restaurant does serve good food but I don't think I'll ever go back because now I don't feel welcome anymore.

Omg best Chinese ever!!! Had the buffet on the Sunday honestly the best Chinese I’ve eating (and I eat a lot) the staff was so lovely very helpful and really friendly. The place was really nice and very clean and the food was out of this world (best crispy shedded chilli beef highly recommend) if ever up that way definitely check it out. We will be back again!! :)
