China Garden in Huntingdonshire

Just moved to the village and we tried this last night for the first time, really enjoyed it, meat quality was good too. Will be back

I ordered Chicken Fried Rice. What I was given was this tasteless combination which was nothing like what I ordered. Very disappointing.

Nice Chinese staff good and polite good choice on menu and food nice and hot not bad prices always popular with the locals.

New to Somersham and have had 2 take outs from here so far. Both times were very good. I had the veg chow mein and veg spring rolls both times (vegetarian). Spring rolls are delish! My partner had meat dishes and also said was really good.

Pork balls batter Rock hard .rice ok .

Always delicious fresh, tasty food. Never soggy nor greasy. Never seems full of MSG nor nasty colourings. We're very lucky to have China Garden in Somersham. Always a treat.

We just moved in to the area and tried a Chinese, my wife threw her guts up half hour after eating it and I ain't got off the toilet all through the night and still on it now... never again 😒

A great selection of authentic Chinese dishes

Used to love going here but over the last year food quality has gotten really bad to the point we don't enjoy it anymore and hearing the same off of thers too. Last takeaway we had was re fried chicken and tasteless greasy food. We Started using the welcome in St ives and much more fresh and tasty. Somewhat cheaper too. But they are quick service and very friendly. Shame the restaurant part closed as it was great and the food quality was much better then.

Had takeaway a few times and it's been consistently good and very quick. Wish they delivered but I'm willing to drive! Staff have always been friendly and polite! Please post your menu online somewhere for when I can't find a paper menu at home!! The ones I found with Google were unreadable! Otherwise 5 stars

The description clearly says 'dine in or takeaway ' . We wanted the dine in experience but when we got there and asked for a table for two, we were met with 'takeaway only' They really should update their advert to say takeaway only and this would avoid others wasting time driving there to dine in when that facility doesn't exist

We tried out various Chinese takeaways close to us as our local one is becoming a bit hit-and-miss. So glad we found the China Garden and we use it quite regularly. It’s a longer drive for us to Somersham, but to date, we have not had a bad meal from here and it’s worth the extra few miles. Always ready on arrival and good quality food. Shame it’s not a little closer.

Nice food always hot and good prices use this place a fair bit as its local would recommend the china garden staff nice also .

Great little place for take out. It was delicious sauce and the portions were perfect. I had the duck chow mein and it was loaded with duck! Will be returning

First time visiting! Will definitely be going again next time we fancy a takeaway dinner. Lovely and friendly Chinese takeaway. Food was still hot when we got home. Prawn crackers were fresh. Can’t wait to try more from the menu.

We travel from St Ives where there are many Chinese restaurants however they are not even close to China Garden! Best in the area by a long way!

Take away tonight , never disappoints , food excellent & customer service excellent, Linda goes above & beyond to accommodate with vegetarian option, always very friendly & I will certainly be ordering again !

China Garden Resturant is small and very friendly food is hot and freshly cooked to order. Price is very reasonable. i read a comment on hear that stated it was nothing like food in China well I have been to China all over it infact and I prefer the China Garden for taste. We also use it for the take away side and have never had a bad meal. Avril C

I recently went there with a friend for a meal. It was a quiet Thursday. The service was excellent and the food very good as wel.

We ate here last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and whilst it was busy (there was a big party of at least 15 all requiring meals at the same time) the service and quality of the food were amazing. The party were kept to one end of the restaurant so they had their privacy, and we had ours. Considering how busy they were service was good, the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered chicken chow mein which was cooked to perfection (all to often chow mein is greasy from too much oil, not here it wasn't). My husband had the crispy chilli beef and rice and he too was impressed, the crunch to the vegetables clearly showed they were fresh. We will most certainly eat here again.

I ordeted, face to face, mushroom curry & plain chow mein I got mushroom curry and fried rice. Not a huge order, i was the only customer in the restaurant How can they get that wrong.???

Really poor quality, cold, tasteless. When asked to speak to manager, i was met with rudeness and disrespect. No resolution. Will never visit again.

Me and my family ordered food from here, it was the worst chinese we have ever had. Everything tasted the same and was so cold and gross. We had to throw it away. When we called up to explain, the first person on the phone laughed at me and then when the manager spoke to me, he was so rude. so so rude. He wanted me to dig threw my bins and show him the food, was very rude. Never ever order from here.

Absolutely bloody amazing as usual. Great service time, friendly staff and the food was just incredible.

This place is great for takeaway food the girls on the desk are always happy help. They also have a small restaurant but I would book as it folks very quickly. Once in the restaurant the waiter is soo helpful and atttentive. You can choose a dish or all you can eat. And they have it freshly made for you no food just sitting out. The drinks are a plenty with something for everyone. Taking our 18month old was no problem for them and they had a high chair. Good price as well. Would always recommend them.

Ok for takeaway wont eat in restaurant again

I have been here many times and it ceases to amaze me how such a fantastic restaurant with such amazing quality food has 100% consistency I have tried other Chinese restaurants in the area but always end up back here. Staff are very attentive but not on your shoulder happy and polite. I recommend China Garden very highly.

Nice range of flavours and good service.

Used to be really lovely but just had a terrible takeaway from there. The satay sauce tasted like it was made from powder and the chicken curry was flaverless. Really disappointed as I have lived in the village for years and always been impressed but won't be buying from there again as feels like they are trying to cut too many corners and the quality does not reflect the price.

Buffet deal does not include the desserts. This is not clear from menu. Otherwise a standard not very exciting Chinese restaurant with slow service.

The usual mediocre routine , took ages to be acknowledged , the menus were sticky and greasy , took ages for someone to take a drinks order , took ages for the drinks to come , took ages for someone to take our food order ,took ages for the starter to arrive , absolutely the blandest tasteless food I can ever remember having anywhere served luke warm on ice cold plates , took ages to clear our plates away , took ages for main meal to arrive , again bland and tasteless served lukewarm on cold plates , took ages for the plates to be cleared , asked for the bill , yes you guessed it , took ages . it was not very busy in there , would not go back if my life depended on it , big mistake going there. Expensive for what we got too . there are not many restaurants like this in that neck if the woods so I suppose they don't have to bother to give a good service because the alternative restaurants are miles away , very clever .

Went for all you can eat dinner on a Friday evening with my partner. All you can eat really does mean all you can eat. had plenty of food and the waiter was very attentive constantly topping up my water and asking if we would like more drinks once finished. It may be due to the lack of people in the restaurant as the waiter did sometimes seem to hover around but very friendly man ended up chatting. Would recommend.

First time eating here, had a take away;- was very nice and hot when I got back home. Food was delicious and didn’t have to wait long at all. It was very efficient and great service when I picked it up. Will definitely be going back and I highly recommend it! Overall very pleased!

We were pleasently surprised with the China Garden, the staff were very welcoming and the service was good. We had the buffet and the starter selection was about the same quality and standard that you would expect at a reasonable Chinese restaurant. Before mentioning the next course - duck and pancakes etc. I will say that the selection of main dishes were very good and better that I have had in many restaurants, the lemon chicken was particularly good. We had five main dishes and no complaints with any. Going back to the duck and pancakes, I felt that this course let the meal down in that the finely shredded duck was bought to the table already shredded and I would say was almost certainly bought in by the restaurant pre- prepared and shredded in bulk rather than the restaurant cooking and shredding it at the table. It was ok, but not good. There was plenty of shredded meat, but no crispy skin etc. Overall a good meal, but if they want to move up a notch they need to improve the duck situation. I gave a score of very good, but it only just reaches this level. We would go again, main courses great and friendly staff.

being veggie i am always happy to see a chinese with loads of tofu choices. we usually ave this as a takeaway. the tofu satay is also nice, but the pepper tofu is the best.

We have eaten here regularly since living in the village six years ago. So good that we keep coming back. It's a cosey restaurant with nice atmosphere. When you don't have time to sit in there's also a take away service next door! I recommend the smoked chicken and crispy beef. They also are very sensitive to my partners food issues, with a personally tailored service. Only fault is that we now live too far away to go as regularly lol!

Lovely meal. Been here a few times now and never been disappointed. Excellent customer service and food always ready 10 mins after ordering. Would be 5 stars normally but when I got there I was waiting at reception for ages to give my order as it was unmanned. Decent food though.

Great atmosphere and food has everything you need

Service poor' young staff playing with hair and serving food very of putting. Food was lukewarm and unappetising with no flavour, all dishes tasted bland with gloopy sauces and a lingering fatty taste. Would definitely not recommend

Lovely staff, all you can eat for 15.95 a person is quite good value. Cooked to order as you go. Reasonable wine selection. They do take out too.

We've recently had a few takeaways from here since the one in our village (Bluntisham) has gone down hill. The service is friendly and although It's not the best Chinese take away ever, the food is consistently a pretty good standard.

Fuimos para s rápido para llevar pollo chow consistente en un pan de gambas. mein un Ojalá no hubiese sido así, era repugnante, correosos, y sin sabor. Me volveré a comer mi sombrero si fue preparado por cualquiera que he ido a China un cocinero chino. El pan de gambas estaban duros y sabor cartón excepto los gustos de cartón mejor. Nunca volveremos. ¡Puaj!

Always found the service to be very good. The food is quite average but for a local Chinese take away it's 'good enough'. I have never eaten in the restaurant.

We visit once a month for our faverite Chinese, you order off the menu and the food is cooked for you we chose a selection of starters, our fave being the smoked chicken which is so nice, we then follow with Duck and pancakes then...

Never had a bad takeaway but last night was off the scale absolutely delicious smoked chicken,shredded beef and chicken in black bean sauce all perfect made a nice breakfast with left overs this morning,only waited 15 mins to be ready couldn't ask for anything more

So disappointed. Only received part of the order, what we did receive had a taste of gas to it. What a waste of money. Ended up going to Warboys Chinese to buy dinner. Won't be going back!!

The food here in the restaurant is a banquet style. It's reasonably priced and a really good Chinese! The decor and service is a bit in need of help! Generally it's a busy place for takeaways with the odd table but it's worth going in to eat. It's a good place to go to eat and be fed a good meal. Not a place to go for a special occasion and wined and dined!

Small restaurant with takeaway along side. Don't be put off. Superb food and service. Only problem is it is very small so getting a table could be a problem.

Curry has a very unusual flavour. Very watery not impressed. Bbq spare ribs so dry the must have been there a long time. Fatty and very sub standard.

Having been recommended by colleagues, I suggested this restaurant for my wife's birthday. This was our first visit and it certainly won't be the last. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the value was superb. The chef came to the table to ask how we liked everything and was there a special occasion? After eating several courses of Chinese food, and expecting to be finishing the meal, the lights dimmed and the waitress produced a special birthday dish of caramelised apple fritters and ice cream with lighted candle. With chocolate mints to follow, we could not have enjoyed the whole meal and the experience more. No wonder it was well recommended.

Been using the take away service for a year now and it is consistently very good. Went in on Friday to pick up and wow I wasn't fully in the door and the girl serving barked have you pre-ordered, when I said I had she scurried off and dumped the bag on desk with the receipt and said check. I looked at her stunned and she did then say please. The other girl working looked embarrassed, I would of given 5* not been for the service. At least the food is still great!

We have been using this as a take-away for years and always enjoy it, occasionally we eat in the restaurant and are never disappointed. Good friendly service, never really busy considering the size of Somersham and its catchment area which is a shame as the restaurant deserves to be supported more. We sampled the "all you can eat" menu and it was very good and is a great way of trying new dishes. I think at £16 per head it is excellent value. We will return soon.

Use it from time to time. Nothing special, but food is of a good, consistent quality and there are normally not too long wait times.

Half our group were ill with food poisoning after visiting this place. The noodles were far too salty and the rest of the food was only ok. Won't be going back - this used to be a lovely places so not sure why it's gone downhill.

Great Chinese food tasty not scared to use spices and garlic chilli ribs are fantastic and the rest of the food was equally excellent, eat in or take away doesn't matter still good

One of the best chines restaurants i have been to. Chilli squid is to die for. You really need to give this place a go. Never been disappointed here.

We have eaten takeaway from here a few times, but only tried the restaurant by chance when another local restaurant let us down. The staff here were really friendly and quickly offered to make us up a special starter for a picky eater. The food was reasonably priced and there was plenty of it and the service was brilliant. We will definitely be back.

Was staying nearby and needed something to eat so found this place in a local small village nearby. I never hold out much hope when there isnt any competition around but its not far to St Ives so there is quite a bit there. I was generally quite impressed and would say that you should at least give it a try if you are out that way. They appear to do an "all you can eat" offer on some nights which is based on eat something off the menu then order something else which is much better than the buffet idea.
