First time trying here - Best Chinese in Billericay! Was super quick, the portions were huge, everything was so fresh and was the tastiest Chinese we have had in such a long time. Will definitely be our go to from now on!

Asked for chicken chow mein when in the shop - ordered messed up then told I wasn’t charged the chow mein when I asked for one……won’t be going back. Disgusting

Takeaway only what a disaster - gentleman who takes orders not particularly friendly food - for £55.00 and six dishes the fox ended up with a good feed chicken curry watery - special chow mein and quarter duck dry - filet steak dish meat was very chewy - prawn balls flabby not crispy but can recommend spicy spare ribs and excellent prawn crackers in a bag

It was take away,really not good...meat was very strange in chicken curry..was very flat slices,and very smooth meat!,!curry sauce was gluepy..the sweet sour chicken balls nice chicken but soggy,chicken sweet and sour was chewy+ tough..think need a new meat supplier..real shame as was family treat..and we spent on a big order..

Always great and yummy food, fast delivery too, will always get from this place. Fast and friendly service. This is our favourite Chinese.

Dont normally leave reviews but just wanted to say a massive thank you for making our NYE. We pre ordered our food the day before and everything was piping hot and amazingly on time!! We have tried all chineses in billers and this one is the BEST with the best noodles!! DEFO will order again thankssss

This place is now definitely as good as when Tony was running the place. Had a lovely crispy duck, fillet steak in black bean sauce with chilli and king prawns in chilli and salt last night. Delivered on time with free bottle of pepsi. Food was lovely. Superb.

I didn't fancy cooking this evening and so we ordered in chinese. Best chinese meal we've ever had. The service was first class. Didn't have to wait to place the order and it was delivered earlier than expected and the food was piping hot. It was so delicious. So glad we placed the order and will definitely return to this restaurant again. Thank you for making my Saturday so much better.

Collected takeaway tonight from Yau’s. The gentlemen who took my order was extremely professional & courteous. Fantastic service,very polite & friendly during a busy period. The food was thoroughly enjoyed by my whole family. Highly recommend & will return soon. Defiantly my favourite Chinese in Billericay. 5 star service all round!

This place is lost it’s way in the kitchen. The food was below par on my last visit. The restaurant is very dated in style. Not high end class. Food ok.

Customer service quite poor on the phone, not the most welcoming on arrival, food was low quality, unfortunately would not return here.

Booked a takeaway 24 hours ahead as anticipated NYE would be busy, was given a slot 6-7. Never arrived. Spent 40 minutes trying to get through. Eventually got through to be told it was on it’s way. 40 minutes later still not arrived and phones permanently engaged. Total disaster,

Wow. Never thought I'd say this but the takeaway we had last night was even better than when Tony was running this place. The fillet beef in balck bean sauce with chilli was superb. Just the right amount of spice. The sauce was lovely. The beef was lovely and tendy. We alos have crispy duck, again best crispy duck we've had. The prawns in chilli and salt, lovely and cripsy and right amolutn of spice and salt. We were bowled over. The takeway did arrive around 20mins late but honestly it was woirth the waiot.

Visited my daughter in Billericay and we decide to get a takeaway as this restaurant which was highly recommended. Well what a waste of £75 practically everything we ordered we threw away , the prawns were dry and inedible, the HOT and SPICY wings were dry and had no taste or flavour whatsoever. I think the only thing we kept were the prawn crackers. I would NOT recommend.

Can’t fault the takeaway service from Yaus. The portions are good always hot and delicious. Well worth a try

Visited Billericay Essex, for an evening out. Was warmly welcomed to Yau's Chinese restaurant. The menu choice was exciting and delicious. The food arrived in a very timely manner and was very tasty. Prices were very reasonable for the good quality food presented. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

As usual the food was amazing.....the service could of been a bit better as not all our food came out together but it was so delicious and tasty it sort of made up for the service x the food you could not fault at all...fullnof flavour and the staff were very polite just the kitchen seemed to hold things up x but I will always go back and recommend x

I ordered from here following recommendations that the restaurant experience was so great but I was left very disappointed with the takeaway.The egg fried rice was bland; lacking in salt and the mixed satay skewers were equally bad... the king prawns were chewy and overcooked and the satay sauce was gloopy and had no peanut taste to it whatsoever.On the plus side the crispy shredded beef was indeed crispy and tasted fresh and the beef on the skewers was very tender and melted in the mouth.However overall I have had far better takeaways elsewhere and needless to say I shan’t be trying a meal in the restaurant.

Have use yaus three times in a month, early 7.00pm, I found the food Chinese and Thai to be of a higher quality and service good,compared with others,will use you again many thanks to the staff

We visited yaus for a takeaway tea as we were visiting the area. We ordered a set meal and was apprehensive when the food arrived quite quickly thinking maybe it was pre made and reheated but we drove ten mins to our accommodation and the food was really hot and fresh tasting. The food tasted fantastic and the server was nice and friendly. I only wish we lived closer so it could be a regular haunt!

Good food. Good friendly staff. Reasonable prices. If you like no a no frills good Chinease dinner out. Then Yaus is it. 😁😁

Usually we come to Yau's for a sit down meal but today we opted for a home delivery. Food arrived in time span they quoted and was lovely & hot & so much of it, so much so we have enough left over for a pick tomorrow! We even got free prawn crackers & bottle of soft drink thrown in. Sometimes takeaways aren't as nice as sitting down for a meal but to be honest this was just as nice, especially the crispy duck.

Having read some of the reviews I was a bit unsure of what we would expect. I am pleased to say the food and service were excellent. Good value for money well worth a visit

We called in here last night for a takeaway. As usual the food was very good and we were offered a glass of wine while we waited for our food. The restaurant was quite busy as per usual. Great service from the staff too.

I have visited Yau’s on and off for years and got a takeaway on 2 July and it was terrible. Everything we ordered was bland and tasteless. The beef in black bean with chilli had no chilli taste. So bad I didn’t finish eating it. Will not be returning.

Have eaten here many times, food is as good as ever and service is friendly. Range of drinks can be a bit limited if you want something current. A safe venue for a quiet night out.

Ate here for the first time last night and was very impressed. We went for the set menu. Starters lovely prawn toast and ribs very tasty. The main was hot, well cooked and lots of it! We struggled to finish. A lovely meal and we will be back.

Please. Who ever rated this an excellent obviously don’t go out to dine that regular.

Very clean if somewhat dated decor

A bit of a problem ordering on line. Line engaged and when I did get through they placed the phone on the desk only for someone to replace the receiver. However, walked there and then placed the order after queing. Basically shows how busy and popular they are. Disappointed not to have been offered a drink whilst I waited. Previous owner, Tony, always ensured the customer was happy whilst waiting. However, the wait was worth while as the food was excellent. In house dining was fully booked by the time I left around 7pm.

I'm so impressed with Yau's. The food is consistently delicious and very fresh-tasting. Four of us dined last month and had one of the fixed menus. We all enjoyed absolutely everything we had. Portion sizes were so generous, my wife and I asked if we could have some boxed up to take away, and we enjoyed it all over again for lunch the next day. Service is spot on. Decor is looking a bit dated now, but, in a way, it adds to the place's charm. The only fault, and it's a very small one, is waiters wearing jeans. If I go out for meal, for a special occasion, I'd prefer not to be served by someone in jeans. Perhaps that's just me being an old fuddy-duddy. Overall, I think it's a great restaurant, and it keeps us coming back for more.

Had a lovely family meal here last night, food was delicious. (Especially the ribs) My only negative was the drinks are a little over priced for the size of the drinks! Staff were lovely and always made sure we had everything we needed. I will be returning!

Recently visited Yau's mid week with friends and had a lovely evening. Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Restaurant comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the set menu including a wide variety of dishes, each one, very nicely cooked...tasty, hot and so filling! Couldn't eat another thing and sadly had to leave some food, with no room for anymore! Definitely worth a try if you're looking for an authentic chinese and good value for money in Billericay.

There have been a few reviews on here about how this place has gone downhill since the previous management/owner left. I have to say that's not been our experience - we've had a number of takeaways from Yau's since the change and it's still the great food it was before, and they'll deliver now!

Had a delivery First one. Good size portions hot and fresh. Lemon chicken was very disapointing. Batter was old and dry. Noodles were nice but not enough meat and prawns.

Not the biggest fan of UK Chinese food but always impressed at Yau's. If getting a take away it was the "Go To" place.

My wife and I popped in to introduce ourselves to the new owners and to also order a takeaway for later that evening.

We used to eat at this restaurant about once a week or 7-9 days latest. It was the best Chinese food in the area, was always perfect with freshly cooked food served by friendly faces.

Visited Yaus Chinese restaurant last night. This restaurant is under new management. They have added many new & varied dishes of which we tried a few & were fantastic. The menu still has the 'old favourites' but the new additions are very tasty & incorporate different tastes & flavours from all over Asia (Cantonese, Thai etc etc). The new owners are lovely people & can't do enough for you, the service is superb. They mentioned they are now offering a delivery service which is very convenient !! Saves having to collect your 'Take Aways' !! Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Visited for first time apres Tony. The new people seem to be very nice, the food is to the same excellent standard and the only thing missing is the Legend that is Tony. The atmosphere is subdued but I am sure that will improve as customers get to know the new team.

Tuvimos una comida aquí jueves por la noche. Después de la comida nos entretuvo camarera cortar dedo clavos detrás del bar. Justo al lado de los cubiertos que acababa de limpiar. Un camarero y el dueño solo se quedó viendo su hacer esto. Pregunté si ella era de corte camarero sus clavos, y a él le contestamos que sí, ya que era una cosa normal de hacer. Este es el comportamiento más repugnantes que he visto en un restaurante. Mantener preguntando donde todos los recortes de uñas eran aterrizar! ! ! !

Fuimos allí para una comida de cumpleaños amigos. Desde el momento en que llegamos, el servicio que recibimos fue insuperable. Absolutamente increíble. La comida era buena y caliente y sirve muy bien. Se lo recomiendo a cualquiera que busque un restaurante chino en la zona donde el personal saben sus nombres de clientes y preguntar cómo es la familia, etc. . . .

This is without question the best Chinese restaurant in Billericay. Very nice atmosphere and Tony is incredibly friendly and eager to please. Have been here as part of a large group and with just my wife, equally enjoyable. Food is fantastic as ingredients are always fresh (I see him shopping in the local Waitrose for the ingredients) - highly recommend!

I visited here for a takeaway with my family. I collected a takeaway for 4 people. Two members of my family now have food poisoning. They had two different meals but are still poorly. This is unacceptable as his had ruined the weekend spent with my family. The restaurant was busy and i believe they rushed my order through. I will not be eating here again.

Yau's is not only the best Chinese restaurant in Billericay, but the best for some distance. The food is always perfectly cooked, never greasy and always bursting with authentic flavours. The staff are excellent, especially owner Tony, a born and bred Billericay lad.

We turned up on a Thursday night, we hadn't booked and there were 9 of us. Tony, the manager, had no problem in accommodating us and the food and the service was faultless. We literally said "Can you please feed 9 hungry men and give us a variety". They couldn't have chosen better and not one of us had any complaints. It was a lovely evening and we will definitely be back...

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. the service is great, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and very polite. The food well that is something else....TOTALLY DELICIOUS.. we even drive from chelmsford to get a take away if we are having friends over... well worth the drive. Always when we go there we have a great night.

Rarely eat in, but this is my Chinese take away of choice. Love everything we get from here - but special mention to the spare ribs and crispy duck - delicious! Can't beat Yau's for Chinese in Billericay!

This restaurant has got good reviews, so our family decided to have a lunch there. The service was very friendly but food was tasteless or bad. We expected much more.

we went here after being highly recommended - the service was ok and food did come out quickly but nothing special as really had hoped for - there was also a very loud group in using offensive language and making it hard to have a conversation with my guests - they were allowed to continue with this behaviour despite lots of disapproving looks from others - will not be rushing back .

This place has been going for years & it never fails to please. i have visited Yaus for a romantic meal & a large birthday celabration. The food & standard of service is impeccable.

Three generations met for a birthday celebration. It had to be the Emperor's Banquet for the adults although one did go for an extra hot curry which he said was delicious. The banquet duly arrived after a few drinks served by the excellent waiting staff. It was wonderful with enough food for everyone including a couple who had seconds. The children were very well looked after and were treated just like the grown ups where nothing was too much trouble. A fantastic meal on all fronts, thr choice, presentation and the flavours were fantastic. I totally recommend Yau's for any occasion. I can't wait to go back.

I love Yau - I go about once every 3 months with my mates. The service is great, the food is outstanding and I love it.The décor is not exactly brand new, but it adds to the authenticity, it is not trying to be 'all cool' the place is about the food and it is a winner

Tony is a master at looking after the customer. He has a great ability to remember peoples named & make you feel like a regular. A lively guy indeed. The food is always brilliant the meat dishes are always good cuts. No rubbery chicken or tough beef which seems to be served in other poor quality takeaways. Yaus is brilliant & so is Tony

Myself and my family have been coming to Yau's for years and can honestly say we've NEVER had a bad meal here! The ribs are amazing, the meat literally always falls off the bone.Tony is always so friendly and knows most of his customers. Always giving us a free drink at the end, can't complain there!The decor is probably a little dated but I really don't think this matters as it is clean and the food is always of a very high standard.Definitely book if you're going of a weekend or in a group as they're pretty much always busy!

I've always loved Yau's for the food, service and general atmosphere. Yau's can get really booked up due to it's popularity. Just goes to show the quality of the food! From the crisy duck to the crispy chilli beef, the food defines the restaurant. Made a promise to get booked in again in the near future to check standards haven't slipped. Not the cheapest but you don't mind paying for quality...

Have been coming to Yau's since it was opened. Tony is a local legend & nothing is too much trouble . Food is good as London China Town (and most times better). The secret is consistency. How they do it is amazing but the food is as spot on as it was years ago. I keep imagining a little old chef with pigtails slaving over a very old wok (I know, I know). Seriously, the food is first class & the service is unbeatable . 5 ***** from us.

Hands down this is the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The whole of Billericay and beyond are regulars for a reason!We have never had a bad meal or takeaway and we have been going as long as I can remember and I am 24!Menu is incredibly varied, all the usual favourites and some other new choices too.Atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff are brilliant fun! Tony who runs it will not forget you once you have been there a couple of times - I think he knows everyone in Billericay!

Visited with friends who use this place regularly..was impressed..they ordered food for the four of us..and everything was excellent..in particular..really enjoyed the ribs..and the duck was delicious. .as was all the other dishes..pleasant service..

The Food is lovely with good starters especially the Duck and pancakes. MY favourite is the satay chicken and Singapore noodles. Some of the food can be a bit oily thats the only criticism i have. Staff are very friendly too.

The place was empty when we came, décor extremely tired looking and dated. Needs a refurbishment, restaurant seemed very dingy. Ordered chicken with cashews, the chicken had a rather gelatinous, slimy texture, in a odd sauce. This is the kind of food that hasn't changed a bit since Chinese food came to the UK in the 70's, why can't Chinese takeaways serve authentic, fresh Chinese food that isn't greasy or full of sweet sticky bright red sauces?

I've not bed to Yau's in a good few years, came to Billericay last night with the intention of having dinner with friends. . Went in @ 9:30 and saw it was busy, Tony said come back round 10:30 as it will have quietened down by then.. Felt like I'd never left,Tony was as polite as I've always known him,happy to have a chat and a catch up,ask how I'm doing and how the family are.Food was amazing, we'd ordered the emperor's banquet for 3 people, we didn't have long to wait before our starters where out.. All meals where hot, and all had excellent flavour to them,Service as ever with a smile from the staff who would come check to see if another drink was needed when you'd finished your one.I recommend this place to any and everyone that asks for a sit down meal

There's only one place to eat Chinese in Billericay High Street if you are eating out, and that is Yau's. The mussels are great and the atmosphere is usually good. It's a small place but the food is great and it has unique charm with the little bar and a local feel

Been here a few times with a friend.Staff are always friendly and helpful, never a problem to accommodate anything for us if we want a swop on one of the starter platters.Food is tasty and no headache afterwards like you get with some Chinese meals.

I have been visiting Yau's for >30 years. The barbecue ribs are the best I have ever eaten in a Chinese restaurant (and I have sampled widely and often). These are always a highlight of my visit and I often get an order to go too. When I got seriously into cooking as a teenager I did ask them how they made them but they refused to tell! I will say though that anyone who knows anything about cooking meat will know that they are obviously NOT boiled (as suggested by Jason D, three weeks ago) because that would make the fibres in the meat tighten up, become chewy and stay on the bone. Only slow cooked, tender meat falls off the bone the way these ribs do. Jason obviously knows very little about how to cook meat or what well cooked meat looks/tastes like. Nevermind, all the more for me!
