Came here tonight for mine and my partners dinner. I'll get the bad out of the way first, while the shop is nice, their fish tank that's put on the wall is very very dirty, could do with a nice clean. There was a small blonde hair in my boyfriends rice, (we both have dark hair), and the roast chicken was very dry. For the highest rated Chinese in Basildon, I expected a little bit better Not for the goods. The rice, aside from the hair, was very nice, they didn't mess up any of my order and removed the prawns like I requested, the lady who took my order was kind and understanding, the wait wasn't long, and its cheaper then other Chineses in the area

Lovely Chinese ordered quite alit of food for my birthday yesterday and not one thing of the list like most places and super hot and tasty, our go to Chinese now. the Singapore chicken rice noodles was lovely like the smoked chicken ,lemon chicken,honey chicken, duck all very nice sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style, the list goes on to much to mention .

Ordered, took no more than 5 minutes to hand to me. Took 5 minutes to get home, stone cold. Wouldn’t recommend.

Ordered food and it came 1hr20mins later, ordered crispy chicken Peking style, this was definitely not any type of Peking I’ve eaten it was vile I spat it out and chicken tasted boiled not crispy. Was like a perfumed flavour

Visited the ho ho Chinese takeaway 6th October . After ordering the food . Went home and the food was very disappointing. Chicken balls were soft not crispy the duck was dry and very hard . The sweet and sour sauce was very red and tasted different. The pork dish was very dry and meat very tough . I found out it has been taken over recently but is very disappointing. Won’t be going back . Which is a shame as I’ve been going there for about 10 years

Wonderful Chinese really. Never really knew what menus they had till I got there. Thier pasta with duck is a real treat. All thier meals are sumptuous.

We have used the Ho Ho for years, and have never had a bad dish. Fast forward to today. The food was truly awful 😖. Soggy chicken balls, dried out chips which had clearly been reheated several times, and a chow mein completely devoid of sauce. We don't often order Chinese takeaway because of the expense and consider it a real treat 😋. We were so disappointed, we threw most of it in the bin. Won't be in a hurry to order from them in the future.

Best Chinese we have ever had!! Not bad price for food either. The food is always hot and never lets you down. I do know some people do complain about the waiting time, but that is due to how busy they are and I’m happy to wait as I know my food will be piping hot and every single time we have ordered it is amazing. I rather wait a hour+ depending on what day of the week it is (as I know weekends are very busy, but still worth the wait!!) then 45 mins from other takeaways that you can not eat and tastes nasty and cold food. Couldn’t recommend more

Amazing food, is a little different from other Chinese takeaways, but I personally think HoHo’s has far much more taste. The bbq sauce is amazing and no other Chinese place I’ve eaten can beat HoHo’s. The prawn toast is different to others but amazing and will not order prawn toast from anywhere else. Brilliant customer service. Owners are also lovely people. Our food has always been piping hot still aswell when we get home and dish up. They do get extremely busy but to me this is due to how good their food is. I rather wait for decent food rather then get it quickly and throw it in the bin, if ever I’ve had a problem staff and owner are always happy to try and correct this where many many takeaways around Basildon tell you that you are wrong. Amazing thank you

Only ever had the chicken chow mein from here but is amazing

Swapped to this Chinese from our regular a few months back. Food is lovely and service is always efficient.

I read the HoHos terrible reviews but foolishly decided to ignore them ( rather than driving a few more minutes for a better place ) and I paid the price . They even fu*ked up a simple dish like chicken balls and chips . It was actually inedible. Avoid . ( even tho the owners were so nice )

The best restaurant to have Chinese cuisine in basildon and the service is also very fast . Definitely try curry samosa, schezwan chicken, veg spring rolls and crispy chicken with garlic. Was really delicious 🤤

First time we ordered from here won't be doing so again.Ordered Kung po chicken ,chicken chow mein and sweet and sour chicken balls . Kung po chicken wasn't as we know it, firstly it came with cashew nuts in it which we don't like, plus other bits in there we didn't know what they were so they went out with the cashews.It didn't taste like Kung Po it was more like crispy coated chicken and a weird taste nothing spicy about it not nice. Chow mein ok but really dry had a tang to it and chicken balls I never knew they could get so much batter round a bit of chicken not good. Would not use again or recommend .

Always order from this Chinese take away as food are good with the amount of money you pay the portion is big, then try another place but no as good as Hoho take away in kingswood basildon delivery time ok I know can be very at times I give this place a five stars.......

Tired a lot of the local Chinese takeaways and this is by far the best one. The food has so much flavour to it and was all priced reasonably. Will defo be new regular!

Not bad but for some reason their chicken balls always seem to have too much batter on them that is undercooked and the chicken itself is overcooked and quite chewy.

Egg fried rice and sweet n sour pork very good. Singapore chow mein was nothing but spice so binned it as far too hot, used to another Chinese version that is spicy but eatable with a drink. This was having to glug drink each mouthful

I am fussy about my Chinese takeaway and I was worried because it was my first time getting it from here but it was SOOOO worth it. I’m really busy atm but had to take the time to leave a review! That’s how good it was! Fast delivery, duck satay was BEAUT and the prawns in my chow mein were not undercooked like they are at nearly every other Chinese takeaway. Still hot temperature and just very tasty and fresh.

Never been there before (our local Chinese takeaway has gone downhill lately so we thought we'd try somewhere new) but it was lovely! Gorgeous looking shop for a takeaway, polite and relatively fast service given how snowed under they were with phone orders, and most importantly the food (house special chow mein with prawn balls for me) was BEAUTIFUL! We'll be back, definitely.

Awful service!! We booked our order in advance, earlier in the week so that we could make sure that we secured our slot. It had been booked for 7.30 and was booked by the manager/owner of the shop. Arrived for the time that was agreed to find that not only had it not been cooked (the order was still sitting there on the counter), they couldnt tell us when it would be done. No excuse for this at all, regardless if it is Christmas eve, thats exactly why we prebooked! Left with hungry children, disgusting. WIll never be buying from them again.

Best Chinese Fast Food in Basildon.

After moving from London I found it hard to find a good Chinese however Ho Ho is the best in Basildon Town. Great freshly cooked hot food excellent service

Always order from Hoho as my husband loves their Beef Curry but sad to say this was our last order Chow Mein was obviously cooked in dirty oil as had a foul taste, Beef Curry was chewy and quite awful, Salt and Chilli squid took some chewing and was flavourless, Salt and Chilli chips were soggy so this is where we part ways. No more Hoho’s in this house.

Best in the area, have used this takeaway for many years. Recommend the Chefs special chow mein with blackbean sauce.

Really disappointed been using Ho Ho for years, but over the last six months orders wrong, things missing, you call they say get discount on next order but when you reorder they have not logged the discount against my number. Tonight is the last time I’ll use this takeaway, items missing again, curry sauce, bbq sauce like water, chow mien dry as if it’s been reheated several times. Chips must of been reheated several times as absolutely dry. Absolutely a waste of money.

It's a ok place for a takeaway, but sadly quality of food has gone down hill since Hon sold the place. They use cheap pre packed food now so if you have a allergy or don't like certain things they can not remove it from the food like they use too. Another great takeaway that's took a dive for the worst under new ownership. Seriously try Wok & Roll laindon near toomey petrol station???

I ordered yesterday 4/4 after reading all the positive reviews.... What a mistake I made! They opened at 5pm, I placed order at 5:13pm told 45mins for delivery; not a problem at all as their card machine wasn't working and it allowed us to get cash etc here's where it goes wrong!!!! Food was delivered before 5:30pm it was not piping hot, some chips were still frozen, rice an noodles were so compact they looked like they had been checked in a microwave, crispy beef was not crispy, curry sauce smelt amazing but had a weird sweetness almost as though it was going off! You don't need to be a chef to be able to tell the difference between reheated, over cooked, lukewarm food!!!! How could our order have been prepared, cooked and delivered in less than 17minutes?! I will not be ordering from here ever again.

That is the Best Chinice in Essex ( I'm not exaggerating trus me lol ) Always fresh and good portions. The whole Ho Ho staff is so lovely. Highly recommended if I could I give more stars. Thank you guys

Picked up a take away tonight 12/02/21 at 5.10pm First take away in ages, always loved the food from here....but tonight, everything was so strongly salty.... the beef and black bean, and the chicken chow mein especially....to the point we couldn't eat it !! Such a shame....

Ordered three dishes. Got prawn crackers as a freebie. Very nice. Thanks. Two of four things that didn't go straight into the bin. Chicken chow mien is hard to screw up. Fine in this instance. Three stars out of five. Almost tasteless because too little salt. Two other dishes went straight in the bin. Spicy stir fried beef. Full of sugar like a beef churro with too much salt. Can you imagine? Couldn't eat it. Two orders of Hot and sour soup. Also went into the bin, not the sink. Too thick. I could eat the soup with a fork. Surely something wrong there. Also way too salty and dessert-sweet. Awful. My first time at Ho-Ho. Never going there again. Quite surprised at the overwhelmingly positive ratings.

Placed an order for collection and arrived to collect to be told by a rude employee that the order had actually accidentally been sent out for delivery. Delivery arrived and items missing. Called to ask for the missing items to be delivered and I was met with the rudest person! Never ordering from here again! Avoid!

Fab meal again. Chicken sweet and sour ball were huge and scummy. Chicken and sweetcorn was very nice with the added spring onions.

The foods amazing! Staff are always polite. Portions are very generous & you can get half portions if you have children which I find great! Highly recommend

Sorry but these reviews need checking, we had the worst experience after reading positive reviews and ordering for the first time from here! The food was cold and not appealing to look or taste. It was put in the dustbin! Made a complaint and received a refund of half! Never using them again!

This place is always so busy, and last night was no exception! Waited nearly three hours for a collection order (fairly small order too) but you know what...it was so worth it! Food is always fantastic and cooked fresh! Service always with a smile and the two girls on the phones and front of house do an amazing job. Happy new year Ho Ho!

Small but nice restaurant. Service is always very quick and the food is delicious and always in really nice portions. I recommend for Chinese food(although I'm not a Chinese food expert , so take my advice with a grain of salt). They do delivery as well and deliver in time.

This Chinese was recommended so decided to give it a try..we wasn't disappointed, it was lovely... The only negative is we couldn't get through on the phone as line was constantly busy so went there to order and it was very busy with everyone standing outside waiting...wait was 20/25 minutes....but if you don't mind the wait def worth it..

I'm from Wickford. Have tried pretty much each and every chinese restaurant within a 5 mile radius. Jade Palace, Lon Wah and New World were my general go to Chinese local to me. I tried this after looking at some reviews. And safe to say, I have been back 3 times already. The sweet and sour chicken is restaurant quality. Very similar to Welcome Inn food in Hornchurch. Singapore noodles are ace, smoked chicken is excellent and always done well, rice is brown which is always a nice touch and feel it doesn't have all the grease and colourings you find in 90% of chinese take aways. It was a very pleasant surprise and would highly recommend this to anyone who loves a chinese. Seriously impressive, but not the cheapest. You pay for what you get.

We used this take away once a month Before the March lockdown We always enjoyed the food It was tasty fresh well cooked Very enjoyable could not fault it ,But tonight's meal Friday 24 th July Was awful! Tasteless, greasy ,! Couldn't eat it 24 pounds waisted ! Went on the bin .Must have new cheifs ? Can't believe the change .Wont be going here for a takeaway again Would advise anyone else not to! So disapointed
