Jasmin Oriental in Maldon

Not long moved to the area and fancied a Chinese takeaway. Had a look online and found Jasmine. The full is available lots of choice. Decide to order half a duck with pancakes, prawn crackers, boiled rice, crispy chilli beef and sweet & sour chicken. We phoned and placed the order and drive to pick it up. Food was delicious. I highly recommend the duck and the sweet & sour chicken, Will definitely be using again,

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had! Stale prawn crackers, wouldn’t give the spare ribs to the dog! Loads of food colouring, salt and swimming in fat. Disgusting

Have been using jazmine since it opened years ago, Shirley always very pleasant and food is amazing, never had a bad meal, so lucky to have this lovely Chinese, Thai in our village, miss going to sit in, but hopefully in the future will open the sit down again, as we loved taking our little granddaughters there x

It was probably the worst Chinese I’ve ever had it was a takeaway everything was dry and inedible and when I complained all they said was bring it back and where very rude please don’t waste your money

We love Jasmin! Our favourite Chinese takeaway, we have been using this takeaway for about a year now and we have never had a bad meal. The staff are always so polite, and the food is ready quickly and always nice and hot when it arrives!

Tried takeaway previously and wasn't impressed but thought we would try again as friends recommended it was worth another try. The soft shell crab was dry and tasteless, the thai prawns came covered in so much stodgy batter it looked like a tray of banana fritters. Had the same issue last time we ordered - so many things come covered in batter, but it doesn't say so on the menu. Singapore noodles and beef in black bean sauce were edible. The thai green curry looked awful but was ok. Normally we save the leftovers for the next day but this time they went in the bin, along with the entire softshell crab starter. If you are looking for good chinese food, this is not the place,

We used to love The Jasmine and were really looking forward to a lovely takeaway meal for my husbands birthday. Unfortunately it left a lots to be desired. The meat was dry and tough, the curry was watery and beef when we ordered lamb and the special fried rice was anything but! Just as well that they sent two bags of prawn crackers as they were the only edible items in the box. With little change from £50 we were all very disappointed.

Recently moved into the area and was longing for a missed Chinese takeaway. We thought we would try the Jasmine as it has a good hygiene and trip advisory rating. We ordered chicken curry, special and chicken chow mein, egg fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken balls, a black bean sauce and portion of chips. Overall, the food was very good, especially for the low prices charged. The only negative thing I could say is that the black bean sauce was thinner than I am used too. We live in Tillingham so collected our selves...food still warm. ...not hot, but to be expected I think as we were 10 minutes late collecting. Thanks we will definitely be back to try lots of other dishes on the menu !!!

Ordered our food and collected - The food was piping hot and very nice too. If I had one criticism it would be that the rice was slightly overcooked - I would highly recommend a takeaway form here.

I’m absolutely disgusted with the order we have finally received our meal after 2 hours only to find that all the sauce had spilt in bags and also it was cold phoned up to complain and was told if I return to shop I could get a refund the woman on the phone was very rude to me and the customer service wasn’t great at all will not be ordering from this restaurant again.... PLESE THINK TWICE BEFORE ORDERING FROM THIS RESTAURANT!

Had a takeaway a few wks ago which was ok, not great. Had another last night, it wasn't hot when it arrived, the curry was runny and almost cold, and the chips were hard, they had obviously been warmed up in a microwave. The ribs were average and the sesame toast was tasteless. That's £25 il never see again, what a waste. We won't be going there again, and I wouldn't advise anyone else to .

I've been coming here for takeaway with my partner for the past 2 years, and can't say I've ever had a meal that was very tasty. The staff are very friendly and polite and the restaurant is clean, modern and well presented. The service is quick and the food is always piping hot. I can highly recommend this restaurant.

Food ok, Crispy duck and chili ribs were nice, but main courses looked tired. Fried rice looked more like unfried boiled rice, but overall ok

The owner is so rude, messed up our order & didn’t believe us, food is pre cooked & just microwaved, bad attitude when you complain, won’t be using again

We use the Jasmin Oriental regularly and always enjoy the food. A good choice of Chinese and Thai dishes which are always very tasty. Good value with friendly staff.

Always delicious food and very friendly service. With my wife being Chinese and with home cooked Chinese food we don’t eat here very often but sometimes we do fancy a meal out. And on a Friday a delivered takeaway with sweet and sour pork, Sechuan style fried beef, and Singapore noodles is a real tasty meal. The fact that my wife was a Chinese national and enjoys the food says it all. And, although we can walk there, there is a convenient car park round the back.

My partner and I stayed at Steeple Bay caravan site for the weekend and was looking for something nice to eat.This place come up on Google and after looking at the reviews and pics we decided it was the best of the bunch. On arrival the venue was very busy as customers looked happy. We were seen to very quickly. All staff were very helpful and the food smelt amazing. We ordered a lot of food and although chicken balls were not on the sit in menu, the chef and staff were happy to accommodate to that specific order. The food was amazing. Very clean and not oiley. I'd go as far to say one of the nicest Chinese meals I've had and that's a tall order to beat. If things couldn't get any better, the meal come to half the Price I thought it would. The only con I have is that I live in East London and This isn't anywhere near to me and I would want to eat this every weekend.

Most notable for charming, attentive and friendly staff and a varied menu. Some of the starters are rather disappointing, but the crispy duck is the best in the region and the mains are good. House white is very pleasant.

Probably one of the better Chinese food places around here, but that's not saying much. The quality of the food is quite hit or miss. Sometimes it is quite good, but often it is quite soggy and running with excess water.

Always superb food from here weather it’s takeaway or eat in. Delivery is a bonus and always in the time they suggest

Excellent...we go here often As a family! Green chicken Thai curry and coconut rice is the best ever with toffee banana to finish.

We normally regularly use the other Chinese in the village but as we wanted a Chinese on a Tuesday night we decided to try Jasmin Oriental.

I have been to the Jasmin on numerous occasions and it is always good , the staff are amazing and the food is fantastic , you must have the prawn toast , it’s the best in the planet !!!

Went here on Saturday as staying with friends in Burhnam and they have eaten here and recommended.

We went on a Tuesday evening and found that we were the only people dining there, although several people were in and out collecting takeaways. This was not intrusive at all, just a comment. The food as usual was excellent. We had the set Thai menu and there was far more than we needed. The quality of the food was very good and the service was quiet and efficient. The price was high for the locality but we were well satisfied all round.

Went for a meal here tonight and was greatly disappointed in the service.., we were rushed through our meal .. the food was lovely but couldn’t enjoy it due to the poor service & being rushed!!! Only 3 members of staff to wait tables for 30 diners!!! So sad !!

The restaurant lacks atmosphere and seems to do most of its business through takeaways. Pricey by Chinese restaurant standards - £2.60 just for a small bowl of prawn crackers. Food was average, but to be honest it didn’t live up to expectations.

This is my go to place for take away. Always nice food, never greasy or heavy, it’s just right which is hard to find. There’s a lovely atmosphere and ambience when eating in and it would suit as special occasion.

This is a small restaurant but the food is good however a little over priced for what it is and the venue size. It appears some of the food is prepared in garages out the back of the restaurant as the kitchen appears to be fairly small too. I'm not too keen on this place but my parents like to dine there occasionally as close to home.

Food always nice and will always go back but not a cheap meal. Get what you pay for maybe. Kids choose it as well so enjoyed by all.

Popped in here with my girlfriend one evening as we fancied a sit-down chinese.

Good quality food but overpriced £75 for 2 people and only 3 drinks mixed starter platter 2 main courses and a noodle dish.

We eat here regularly and it is always fab - the staff are lovely, always smiling and the food is of a high standard - really recommend!!

5 adults and 3 children to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday. Staff could not have been more kind. I was allowed to put banner on mirror, put confetti on table and have balloon on table. The waitress also hid the birthday cake and put the candle on it, turned off the lights and played 'Happy Birthday' on machine. Could not have had a better evening. Oh the food and drink was 10/10.

We've used Jasmine for both takeaway and eat in and have never had a bad experience. The food is great quality, the staff are lovely and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere.

We have ordered from this takeaway in the past and at first found it to be good but as time went on we found the quality of the food go down and food the Yellow Bean a little gritty for some reason and once the sweet n sour smelt and tasted weird . We get ours from Burnham now!

Used this place the other night for the first time in ages. Don't often go for Chinese but just fancied it. Had hot and sour soup and Chefs special with scallops and prawns plus Singapore Rice. All fresh, hot and tasty.

Este es un pequeño restaurante con aparcamiento en la parte trasera. Ambiente es muy presente. La comida era para decir lo menos increíble. Mi hijo tenía previamente habíamos pedido una llevar que entregaban y había dicho que era la mejor comida china que he visto y tengo que decir que no estaba equivocado.

Realmente no disfrute de la comida para llevar. En este pedido El pollo al curry fue considerablemente más grandes trozos de cebolla de pollo, y el dulce y agria pelotas de pollo, aunque agradable de los trozos de pollo en el interior, eran muy grasientos. El dulce y salsa era muy brusco y la tarta. No lo recomendaría, aunque el arroz de coco era agradable. . . No era una comida barata, y no me alojaría allí de nuevo.

I couldn't be bothered to cook tonight so I said let go out and my husband is not a one for Chinese Food..but I managed to get him to take me here..well it was well worth it..absolutely delicious food ...beautiful young lady served us..and very well presented..we will definitely return..because the menu was so good and varied..and they were very tolerant of a couple of old bods not knowing a Chinese menu too well...lol..

We visited the Jasmin after coming home from work and didn't feel like cooking. We live about 3 miles away and some friends had told us it was nice - they were right! The food tastes really good. Fresh, just cooked and good choice. Service was very good too - nice, friendly and welcoming. The whole family very much enjoyed the meal and we will definitely go again. I was surprised by how good it is given the location - Southminster is hardly a metropolis.

The service is excellent at Jasmin as is the food. You definitely can't go wrong whether it is in the restaurant or a take away it is always lovely

We've had both take aways and restaurant service here. Staff are always welcoming and polite. Lovely atmosphere even when packed out.

Our local Chinese so we can walk here which is great. Always good and tasty food but think the portions have grown smaller. Very good atmosphere and veing a small restaurant the place is often full. Very friendly service. Also use the delivered take away service which is also good.

Decided to take my partner here a while ago. I recall the food was really tasty and consisted of good quality ingredients. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was quite relaxing. On the down side however were the small portions and price of food. I asked for Kung Pao chicken without vegetables and received a small plate with about eight 3cm little pieces of chicken on... I know i requested no veg but i thought the chef would have thrown in a little more chicken at least! Crispy aromatic duck was nice however. Overall food was okay but this doesn't make up for an overpriced, tight portioned restaurant.

Fantastic food! Staff are always friendly and there is a good atmosphere in the restaurant. Reasonably priced too.

The staff were friendly and helpful but the food was inconsistent. The starters were extremely disappointing (Bang bang chicken definitely worth avoiding), followed by a very average crispy duck however the main meal was very good! Kung Po chicken was excellent, sadly not enough to redeem the earlier food and flat cola.

We originally want in for a takeaway but decided to opt for eating in the food was delicious well priced.the service was good and the wine a reasonable price we will defineatly be returning to eat in. Since our visit we have had several delivered takeaways and have not been disapointed with the food or speed of delivery

I have been eating at the Jasmin for many years now. The only disappointments from the restaurant have been because they are closed or have no spare tables. It is that popular now and for very good reason. Never fear though....they do take away too.

Me & my boyfriend went for a meal here on Friday night and it was lovely! As I am Coeliac I thought my options would be minimal but they made me a gluten free sweet and sour chicken dish and it didn't disappoint! Friendly and approachable staff, would recommend and will be back soon!

The food is excellent and on every visit I order the side dish Morning Glory - just love it -think lots of others do as well as sometimes they run out! Good menu choices and very reasonably priced.Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful and the restaurant tastefully furnished. A definite favourite in our house

This jewel in the Crown restaurant never fails to impress every time we visit.Always quality food even when we have a take away still consistently good food.Best food for miles.

The very best take away in the area. the vegetarian items are quite delicious as are all the other dishes. They are fast and friendly. My family cant wait to visit so they can eat from Jasmin.

A spur of the moment decision to pop out for something to eat we came to this little diamond. What a lovely clean happy place to visit and eat. It was spotless the food was out of this world taste, presentation value was second to none. 2 young girls serving were very attentive and very pleasant in their manner. This is one place we will visit again with family to enjoy xx

I have been here a few times and I can't emphasise how delicious the food is and how friendly the service. The take-away is equally as delicious and good portion size. This is quality Chinese food so don't expect it to be cheap, its worth every penny in my opinion. Its also worth remembering that people travel to go here so worth making a reservation during busy periods.

Whether takeaway or eating in Jasmin is always brilliant. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is excellent.

We went to Southminster in search of somewhere to eat, we chose this based n recommendation from the Post Office staff and all I can say is wow they are right the food is scrumptious and very reasonably priced

Lucky to have the Jasmine Oriental just 7 kilometers from my house. Staff and food excellent. Look forward to visiting there again in the near future.

We have eaten in The Jasmin several times and always enjoyed it. This time we tried a delivery from them. We went for the Fusion Feast set menu for 2. For £14 per person you get 4 different starters, 3 different mains, rice and prawn crackers. The food arrived promptly and still hot (we live a village away from Southminster) There was enough food for 3 people. Very tasty and we really enjoyed it. No. This restaurant isn't the cheapest but eating in or out it's well worth it.

Such a great meal every time I eat here. Great service, lovely staff. Every dish is so fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend! Not cheap but so worth the extra.

Patrick and Shirley have made this the best Chinese in the entire area. Excellent freshly cooked food and choice. So wish we had this calibre of restaurant in Dubai for authentic Chinese! Beyond a 5 star rating and my first point of call when returning to Southminster.

This has got to be the best restaurant on the Dengie Peninsula, possibly the East Anglian Peninsula. I happily travel 50 miles here for their soft-shell crab alone. The place can't be faulted regarding service and quality and the food is frequently so delicious it's barely believable. The prices are a smidgen above average but your food is the finest. Almost so good you don't want to review it, as you want it to yourself.

You would have to travel a seriously long way to better this place. To start the service is outstanding. Always happy, polite and helpful. Couldn't expect more.The menu has a great selection. I've tried most dishes but find myself coming back to Thai green curry and Pad Thai. Everything is delicious. Never had to return anything. I like spice so request extra chilli, never a problem. Always fresh and tastey. Takeaways are equally as good. Always arrive in good time, piping hot and to the same great standard. Definite recommendation every time!

We just moved into the local area. We had heard good reviews of other members of the family, so thought we would give it a try.We had the set fusion menu for two. All the food was piping hot, to a high standard, and tasted lovely.Could not fault the food or the service, and all for a very reasonable price.I guess my only comment would be, for the diet coke we had, would have prefered it to have the option of having it poured out of a can, as the glass we had tasted a little flat and one of them warm.But we will def be going there again very soon.

I visited this restaurant with an old school friend. She highly recommended it and it did not disappoint. It was a quiet evening (a Tuesday night) but the service was still excellent. The food was delicious and there was a huge choice.

We visit here very frequently - at least once a week. Food is amazing. We go for a romantic meal or take the children, and each time it is fantastic. Above average price, but not an issue as the food is amazballs!

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered. Food was delivered promptly and hot. It was one of the best takeaway chineses' I've had and was a relatively good price too. Highly recommend! Loved the curry sauce and prawn crackers and the chow mein. The yung chow fried rice is awesome along with beef and black bean sauce and sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. Chips ain't bad either :)

Lovely restaurant - really good food with decent sized portions and a friendly service. Would definitely recommend (they also do takeaway). Only one critisism - it's not a cheap meal, although you don't mind paying g the extra than you normally would as the quality is there.

The extremely fresh food was complemented by the care and attention given by the staff (which by the way is the owners) is comparable to what we come to find and expect in New York City. The atmosphere and decor was relaxing and contributed to an enjoyable evening. Though the prices are modest and affordable they provide a generous selection of top shelf liquor.

Just thought i'd post that we eat here as one of our top local restaurants, and its worth the couple of minutes drive to get there. We also use the delivery service too. We have never been dissapointed. The staff /owners are so welcoming and friendly. THe food is consistently excellent. Fresh, full of flavour and authentic. We love that we can combine thai and Malaysian/chinese dishes to keep the whole family happy. Highly recommended. <3

We have been a customer of "jasmin's" for a long time and have never had a bad meal, food is excellent, Shirley greets you with a lovely smile and makes you very welcome, very lucky to have this restaurant in a small village. Long may it survive.

Excellent food excellent service. Certainly one of the best Oriental restuarants for miles around. Try the BBQ Spare ribs the sauce is great. I like the Singapore Chow Mein which they tweak for me as I like Egg Noodles instead of the Rice Noodles they normally serve it with. So dont be afraid to ask if you want a slight alteration to how you like your food served they are always happy to accomodate your personal taste. The Take Away is also good.

Superb mix of Thai and Chinese food. Haven't eaten in much but takeaway food is excellent :o)
