Chinese 2 Night in Southend-on-Sea

Got a meal from here on Monday evening ate a mouthful of the beef and said that don’t taste right … geez 🙄 was I right ..🤢 I got food poisoning .. so ill .. and can safely say I will never eat Chinese again …

This used to be the go to takeaway now I can easily say it is the worst, it’s safe to say I wasted my money. The food was absolutely disgusting. Not at all nice. I have attached the chicken balls for you to see. We wasn’t even able to eat it. Have definitely lost us as customers we will not be returning. Not sure why it is has gone so downhill but very disappointed tonight. This isn’t the first time we have tried this either we understand sometimes you have a bad night but after trying multiple times and it’s just getting worse I think it’s safe to say it’s across the board and we are done.

Well what can i say about my chinese tonight,,, probably one of the best chinese ive ever had,, the crispy shredded beef is definitely the best by far,, also the sweet and sour chicken hong kong was absolutely amazing,, the kids also loved theres meals, was even asking for more,, excellent service on time will definitely be returning ,, delicious 😋

Ordered 3 times from here and the 3rd time was terrible. As a mothers day treat we pre ordered a delivery to arrive at 17.20pm at 17.50 it finally arrived, but was missing the salt and chilli chips so we called and they sent the missing item. Whilst waiting for our missing chips my husband was eating the sweet and sour chicken balls but had to quickly spit them out as it was a king prawn ball! My husband is very allergic to shellfish so we was quite worried about this and about how this cross contamination could happen! We called straight away to inform them but they was quite rude on the phone and didn't seem interested and told us to call back the next day. The next day we decided to visit them in person to talk about what happened and was met with very rude customer service saying there is no way that could happen, luckily I still had the prawn ball and showed them but they still didn't seem bothered that my husband could of ended up in hospital due to this mistake. The man/chef said what do you want me to do about it in a very rude manner!and offered us a measly refund for the chicken balls, we refused and got a full refund as the meal was now ruined due to the shellfish.. Will never return!

As for some reason Google won't show my review I post here to warn you of cross contaminating foods.. Ordered here a few times never had any problems and always great food until last night.... So we pre ordered our food as it was mother's day expecting to be busy with that in mind we did have an item not turn up/missing but they did send it straight away. Literally 1 minute before the driver returned with our missing item I was enjoying my meal and tucked into my last chicken ball, instantly I knew something was wrong it wasn't chicken it was a king prawn ball. I am allergic to prawns and suffer from anaphylactic allergic reaction. I immediately spat it out and rinsed my mouth I was ok thankfully but dinner was ruined and tainted. We phoned up and explained what happened they offered free food next order but there was no way this was happening. We went to the shop in person to ask why this had happened to be met with conflict and excuses. Passing the blame to a chef who wasn't even there, questioned about the prawn even though we had it in hand to show them. The owners had no remorse to what happened and offered £5 to compensate. What a joke. Until I said do you not care they gave us £20 to walk away. It's clearly obvious they are cooking chicken and prawn together with cross contamination at play. If you suffer from allergies or other dietary requirements be aware ordering food from here. This is a mother's day my wife won't forget the day her husband could of died from a big f**k up on Chinese 2 nights behalf. We will not be returning to this place.

I have been coming here for a long while, and it saddens me to have to write a negative review, but I am very disappointed. First of all, I love the food, easily 5 stars. But the service in the last several months has been atrocious. There has been a couple of times where i've ordered, most recently this weekend, at a reasonable time, and heard nothing for 1hr45 mins. I tried calling several times throughout this and my calls went unanswered, went to voicemail many times. Only when I called from another phone did they answer right away, and advise it could be up to further hour for my food. I have seen some of the owner's hostile comments towards people after they remarked on long wait times, but i think it's worth highlighting the poor communication from the restaurant. If you update your website/customer to say how long it will be, that will prevent so many orders and give customers the satisfaction of what to expect. I'm not sure if more staff/drivers are needed too, but I want this restaurant to succeed and am very let down by the poor experience. I honestly don't think my order was ever going to come on this occasion, so I cancelled it and went elsewhere. Not sure if/when I'll be back, but I really hope the owner takes my constructive criticisms on board as a loyal customer, to help them get back to their best.

Non existent customer service, waited over three hours for delivery after being told 40-50 minutes, they didn't really seemed bothered about the delay just stating"we're very busy" despite us ordering a short time after opening. I'd use somewhere else that has more concern for customers and realise a three hour wait is not acceptable.-(added after the condescending reply I've received) we ordered on Saturday at around 6pm received our food just after 9pm. I have nothing to gain from making things up, I want to use local businesses, but as I can see from your reply your not really fussed. Similar attitude to when we called up to ask why it was taking so long on Saturday .

Ordered at 6.10pm on the website. Stated an estimated delivery time of 40-60 mins. I called at 7.35pm (1 hour 20 mins after ordering) and was told it was suddenly very busy. I asked how long and was told it would be another 30-60 mins! And there were 4 orders Infront of mine. I called back at 8.40pm and was told that it would be another 15-30 mins!! That it was ready and they were cooking other orders to leave with the same delivery driver. It arrived at 9.10pm. 3 HOURS after ordering. The food was fine but I will NEVER use this business again. The person on the phone kept repeating that the website only gives an estimated time. But when you're estimating 40-60 mins, 3 HOURS is not acceptable. Either update the app or don't keep taking orders if you can't keep up. It's greedy. No one wants to wait 3 hours for a takeaway. But you had my money. If you had given an honest estimate I wouldn't have ordered. No customer service. No update. No gesture of goodwill or attempt to make it right. You have my details on my account. I called twice and I said I wasn't happy at all. DO NOT USE if you want your food on time.

The food is very good. Can't say I've ever had a bad meal from this place over the last 4 years. However, they have, in the last 6 month or so, become very slow and poor around times given on the service. By way of an example. This weekend was told a pick-up time for the take away. Only to be told, not for the first time, it wasn't ready when I arrived. Then, I had to wait another 30 minutes AFTER I turned up before it was. It's a shame as the food is great. But the service sort of ruins the experience.

Ordered Singapore fried rice & asked for extra spice, not one chilli, bland ! Curry sauce so much salt I've left it, pancake roll was good, cost me over £12 . Should have had a kebab nxt door, For salt overdose I recommend Chinese 2 night. Wont be using again Sorry

Ordered online and requested in 2 separate boxes to swap the sweet and sour sauce for a satay sauce. Website advised delivery at 9, called at 21:20 to b advised it would be another 10 mins. Food arrived but driver forgot the drink, again no problem, then realised that they had sent sweet and sour sauce not satay. Called again and customer service was not as good. Was advised they can't swap and there was an additional fee, I asked what the fee was to be told the driver was already on his way bsck to us and insinuate there was nothing they could do. I hung up. Ate our meal but was not as good as normal and husbands meal was full of pineapple and not advertised on the menu so he couldn't eat his. All in all a pretty disappointing experience and sadly we won't return

I've been using Chinese 2 night for a good few month's now, and all I can really say is that I absolutely love it there. The food is always 10 out of 10 and is always correct. Had a few delays with delivery, but with how busy they are, you can kinda of expect it and equally, the food has never been cold when there's been delays with delivery. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

Ordered on their app at 7pm, said 730pm collection, still waiting at 830pm. Won’t be returning!

Just awful, wrong order received, beef instead of chicken, not even sure the beef could be described as meat, more like a soft sponge. Everything was awful in both quality and flavour. A complete waste of money . Tried complaining directly ti the restaurant but no proper website with email address??

To start with they made a mistake on a delivery order, then had the audacity to ask us to pick up the missing food. The food we did get was terrible! Over cooked rice , seriously it’s a chinese and they can’t cook rice! The chow main was burnt, and the sweet and sour was way to sweet. Only used it as out normal one is closed. Will never order from here again!

Worse takaway ever, arrived cold,phoned up and had the phone slammed down on me .My daughter paid for it and the man in charge offered 10 per cent off our next order,my daughter was reduced to tears by this person,she handed the phone to me ,I then had the phone put down on me.

Cannot fault the food. All tasty and fresh. Ended up going to the restaurant to order as they weren't answering the phone, so docked a star for the inconvenience. This is our go-to Chinese in Shoeburyness.

The shop is great, but the driver who delivered Was abrupt when we said no thanks to the free crispy noodles he said well I don’t want them and walked away with our 30p change

Pearl Dragon express was closed so tried here. Although cheaper, it was not as tasty as our favourite Chinese take away.

Was delicious all the dishes were really good, particularly vegetable chow mein lots of fresh veg, beef with mushroom and the seaweed was lovely, really enjoyed it

Disappointed! I clearly asked for my order but got something different and when I phoned to ask for what I ordered the woman on the phone was very rude to me and didn't ask if I'd like to change it for what I asked! I won't be a returning customer and won't recommend!

Very impressed! Delivery came within half an hour, generous portions and great food! Ordered set meal E for 2 and you get plenty! Curry was very rich and prawns were big! Very meaty ribs too. Best Chinese.

We had a family celebration with quite a large order. Chinese 2 Night were brilliant. They took the order in advance and delivered when they said they would. The food was really tasty, not greasy and well priced. Our new go to Chinese.

Great Chinese lovely food and staff

The quality of the food is outstanding. Freshly prepared quality ingredients make for a very enjoyable meal. There are so many choices for all tastes, everybody is catered for. Their service is friendly and warm, they really do tick all the boxes.

Excellent spring rolls and sauce, and very tasty lemon chicken. For me the Singapore noodles could have been spicier will request more chillies at next order. The rice too was excellent. All in all very good value for money, I will order again

Simply the best Chinese takeaway. The grub is truly exquisite ! Used to travel to Westcliff in order to sample the fare prepared by Mr Ng at the Magic Wok. The food here is fresher, delicately spiced and beautifully cooked. 😃😃😃

First time customer after a friends recommendation, I collected my order which was nice and hot, the food was good, my crispy chilli beef although in a large takeaway tin was a smaller portion compared to other takeaways I've had, lovely counter staff, very clean, I was hoping for the USA style cardboard boxes that my friends raved about, less plastic is a good thing. but sadly not this time. A good experience. Thank you.

Ordered the salt and chili box which was recommend by few people cost around £13.00, arrived within 45 minutes of ordering which was within the recommend timeframe given and the food itself was unreal, probably the best salt and chili box i have tasted so far!

Ordered a takeaway to collect on Sunday, just before the England vs Italy football match. We were called when the meal was ready to be collected, well within the time quoted. A delicious hot meal, realistically priced and prepared for collection, as promised. I will certainly use again and am extremely happy to recommend. Well done.

We ordered a delivery meal for 2 people. It arrived quickly and there was so much food. One of the most reasonable Chinese takeaways we've ever had. £25 and we got 5 dishes and a starter. The food was really nice and they gave us free Prawn crackers and lots of fortune cookies. Couldn't fault it, would highly recommend.

We had a selection of starters and main courses for three people. In all dishes the portions were plentiful and fresh. The meat and seafood portions were good and the sauces tasty. All three of us had our full share of food and there was still plenty left over for another meal tomorrow. The menu is extensive and plenty of choice to suit all tastes including a choice of English dishes and the proverbial “chips”.

Disappointing customer service. Refused our owed Fried rice because they hadn’t made a note of it (even when we gave them receipt details again) Been return customers for a long time!. - further to your rude response (but thank you for confining your customer service etiquette for others to see) the original order was back at the end of No ember - a call was made immediately to say we hadn’t received the rice (I don’t know where you’re getting the crispy duck information). When we spoke to you last night we confirmed the receipt date because we had kept it in light of your forgotten rice. Our last order was made 6 weeks ago not 3 months ago. - we don’t order takeaways in December as much due to having other expenses to worry about, but we will not be ordering from yourselves again. Just to clarify the alarm bells that should be going off - a repeat customer that usually regularly spends over £30 a time with you, each time, is being lost due to a dish that costs you under £1 to make. I’m assuming your reply was written by the same member of staff that our original complaint was about.

Won't use any other chinese by far the best around always honest on time and the food is always 10/10 would highly recommend.

Presented perfect cooked perfect, Tasty , Only one sore point , Not hot enough to eat ! Even though under a mile away . But highly recommended, 5 star .

Just moved into the area, had tried a different chinese that wasn't great. Tried this one 2nd and absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, will be sticking with this one in future. Arrived in time, good sized portions and very, very tasty.

Had one last night with the girlfriend it was amazing and you could tell it had all been cooked fresh and the ingredients were good quality and the price was very cheap!! What more do you want?! Never going anywhere else for a Chinese again!! Well done guys!!!

I've been using this takeaway for a few weeks now and I can honestly say the food that has been delivered has been piping hot and delicious! their sweet & sour chicken balls are gorgeous and crispy a proper little gem of a place x

So tonight we had a crispy duck, Hong Kong noodles, egg fried rice and spring rolls. The food was outstanding. Tasty, hot and very delicious. Definitely worth grabbing yourself a takeaway from these guys.

Wanted to find a new Chinese as our one of 6 years is now under new ownership and not what we are used to, so after reading lots of reviews we decided to give C2N a chance as most feedback seemed positive. Collected our food and made our way home to find (while all sitting at the table) that part of the order was missing! So contacted C2N and they said come back and we will give you a new order (guessing as the original would be cold after 3 trips). When I arrived in the shop I placed the (now getting cold) order on the bar and explained the situation. At which point a lady comes from behind and say the missing part of my order was ready!! I explained that I was wanting it all replaced because you the time I returned home it would be cold, she they gets quite unhappy (to be fair she did have a mask on!) and said I could have a refund! This upset me even more as I had now wasted 3 trips for an ordered meal that I didn’t get to eat.......and to make things worse she shorted me on my refund (my wife originally collected it). Not even a sorry or a we can deliver it to you....just refund and get out!!! The food could have been amazing and it could have been our takeaway for the future for us but because of sloppy packaging and what I consider very poor customer service, I can’t recommend Chinese 2 Night. If you want to waste fuel, time and energy while paying for the experience, it could be the one for you but you have been warned, check your order before you take it. A very sad and disappointed Mr B

Best Chinese in southend/shoebury by a mile

During our 18 weeks of self isolation we missed the meals out with friends, so having this take-away was fantastic, because they delivered our meals quickly and the food was hot, tasty & delivered free of charge. The portion size was also the best we have had. The staff were friendly & efficient. Even when you chose a set menu, they will add or change to suit your taste buds. When we did start having friends around in our garden, it was also an ideal solution, to avoid making food, contact and breaking social distancing.

First time we have used this take away. Picked up after calling, very clean, screens up and tap payment. Food was lovely and fresh , was a hit with whole family. Converted, this will be our go to Chinese going forward. Highly recommend.

Food was delicious! Hot and served in lovely little cartons. Recently tried sun lee and the dragons den, both of these places had bumped up their prices and took advantage of the current situation. Paid 32 pounds from sun lee and 28 from dragons den. I bought the same dishes last night from chinese 2night and it cost me 21 pound. The food us amazing! Had roast pork and there was no grisly fatty bits on it like most other places. The batter on the chicken balls was crispy not soggy. Brilliant!

Having tried many Chinese takeaways over the years, many being hit and miss, we found Chinese 2 night that definitely ticks all of the boxes! All dishes cooked fresh and arrive piping hot, can honestly say that I haven’t had a better Chinese meal elsewhere.Would 100% recommend, owners are some of most genuine people that you’ll meet. I know that we’ve found our new regular, thank you!

I cant comment on your order as i didnt try it but the family that run this takeaway are not as you described adam,complete opposite. I have been ordering takeaways from current owner and father for nearly 40 yrs.Top food,top family. Sometimes long wait,purely because how busy they are. Say no more.

Ordered for my birthday food was excellent service was great, food ready on time and portion sizes were good.

We were Gold Coasters but they changed chef so we were looking for somewhere new and Chinese 2 Night is the one! Always nice on the phone, always quick, delicious non greasey food, they don't use plastic boxes and their rates are good Happy to have found them, you wont be disappointed.

Our usual chinese takeaway was closed Christmas eve, so having read the reviews we went for this one. We went down there because we didnt have the menu, and ordered. Despite being very busy, rushed off their feet, they were very cheerful and said we would have to wait about 20 mins. The food came up packaged lovely in boxes and we got free prawn crackers and a fortune cookie each (dont know if it depends on how much you spend). The food was great and since then we have been back twice abs now call this our regular.

Was visiting family in Shoeburyness and we all fancied a Chinese meal.. Have sampled most if not all of the takeaways in the area and have no hesitation in saying Chinese 2 Night knocked the spots of them all. Best takeaway I’ve had in years - food fresh and delicious - surroundings clean and modern and staff friendly and super efficient. Clearly popular with locals (the phone never stopped ringing for orders whilst I was there) Will go back again. Highly recommended

Great food from take away service.

We had a takeaway as a treat last night and it was Horrible. Roast pork chow mein had no flavour meat was stringy. Pork balls (more like strips)in the kids meal were tiny. Dry Spare Ribs were flavourless and the grease had soaked through both bags(nasty).. Chicken satay was mostly grissel.My wife ate some of hers because she was hungry. 90% of mine went in the BIN..

2 takeaways from here now. So long since we've had a good Chinese in this area. Really good. All meat tender and beautifully cooked. Great service, good value. Proper old fashioned lovely tasty Chinese food. Can't recommend enough. Lovely

Stopped off here as in the area. Drove home before opening it up. Asked for fried rice was given boiled. Chicken curry was not what I call curry, large lumps of cooked chicken in a thick gravy with lumps of mushroom and a few onions. Tasteless I am afraid and it went in the bin. Sorry but not for me.

Been looking for a local Chinese for a while now but they have all been a big hit and miss. After reading the reviews on here I decided to order. The food was piping hot, good portion sizes and tastes great. Only problem I encountered was actually trying to order as the phone line was constantly engaged or not being answered so in the end I went to the shop to order and waited to collect. If there was a way to order either online or through someone like just eat then I would have given this a rating of 5. Will order from here again soon.

Live in southend but was told this place was good. Well worth the drive and wont be going anywhere else. Crispy shredded beef was the nutz. On a whole 5/5 .

Calvin the owner chef here is probably the best there is at cooking and presenting Chinese and Cantonese cuisine.

I searched online for 2 hours for the best reviews and ended up at this place. I couldnt find a menu online so ended up driving down there.. the place is spotless, the staff are attentive, the delivery driver was recommending the best dishes, all so friendly. Food was literally beyond words. I have thought for days about how to write this review because it is truly the best chinese food I've ever had. I have used the same chinese takeaway for over 20 years now, and would never ever stray from it as I am so fussy and obsessive about food. but this is the best risk I've ever taken, and now they have my life long custom. Please dont ever change the way you do your food, it is amazing!!!! On my way to get one for tonight!!
