Had my favourite - beef with ginger and spring onions. Absolutely delicious! The beef was tender a good amount of ginger

It's gone way down hill to what it used to be. Used to be the best Chinese takeaway in Southend. Now every aspect of this place is worse than its former self. Ordered food for collection they said it would be 40 minutes, got there and waited an extra 50 minutes for the food. No longer take card payment. And you can taste the ridiculous amount of MSG put in their food. Such a shame

Well over priced compared to other nice chineses

Food okay but nothing special. Vegetable spring rolls mostly batter and they made the cardinal sin of ordering. They missed a portion of rice and when I complained they denied receiving the order for it! I guess they didn’t hear because the takeaway is so noisy and they have a thick Perspex shield which also caused issues hearing. This is my first order and if they got that wrong I suspect they get others wrong. Won’t use again.

I am fussy with Chinese and this was so nice and tasted fresh with lots of flavour. The duck was very nice and sweet and sour dishes were on point. I would go here again and recommend it to others.

Recently started using this Chinese and cannot believe how good it is. Honestly the best Lemon Chicken dish I've ever eaten..and I've used a lot of chineses over the years. You'll sit and wait a while when ordering in the shop, but that's because of how fresh it is - they are very busy because they're so good!! 5* hygiene rating too, always reassuring. Looking forward to my next Chinese meal, thanks

Best Chinese I’ve ever had and the only one I will ever use! Tried virtually everywhere else and it just doesn’t compare, would be a total waste of money to go anywhere else!

Consistently Delicious food - very generous portion size - they delivered to us in westcliff and the food was still piping hot! The staff were very friendly on the phone as well. One of the best Chinese around I normally go to imperial but this is as good!

My prawns were great & my partners duck was really good, but the chicken was very chewy in the chow mejn and tasted weird I thought it was just me but my partner said the same about his sweet and sour .. shame as half the food was delish the other half wasn’t sadly . Still give it a go peeps. It could of been a one offf

It was a fairly long wait time (1 hour 30 minutes), but the servers were excellent and very kind and considerate. The food itself was absolutely wonderful. Would 100% recommend this to others.

I used to love this place as a kid. We'd always go get it ourselves it went from normal special friend rice to curry. They were the best but I feel as if they've changed cooks sadly cause I found a long streak of black hair in my food. Sad cause I've not got a Chinese takeaway I can trust no more.Glad I saw it before I ate it tho !

we tried to order a takeaway and the lady that answered was incredibly rude because we called on a private number. This is really bad service considering some people may have to call on private numbers eg the nhs. I find this appalling and this is really bad customer service!

Been ordering here for months has always been really good food. Everytime i seem to ring up they never answer the phone. I've rung this place so many times in a row and it still says line busy. Been trying to get through for 1 hrs. Manfung you obviously don't want my business as this isn't the first time this has happened so its obviously your loss.

I lived in southchurch for yrs this was always fantastic food and George was a great guy just had some food for the first time in yrs as i moved away back now looking forward to it if i had read the reviews i would never have believed them but to my shock the food was awful will never go there again wished i had known it had changed hands

Used to be our favourite, but has changed hands - is nowhere near as good now. Shame. But good for our waistline.

I gave 5 for atmosphere but there isn't one as there is no dining. However, that being said, the food here is amazing. They're very flexible to our dietary needs and amend the strengths of the dishes according to our preference. I see complaints about wait times. I've never had any issues. Collection has never been more than 20 minutes. I've had issues getting through on the phone during the busiest periods, Friday and Saturday nights for example. But I've driven down there, placed the order in person and left 10-20 minutes later. I think people need to manage their own expectations a little better. I've placed approximately 40+ orders here and never had an issue.

Heard this was good, ordered tonight spent 50 pound and it was very poor, definitely will not be returning food cold, prawn toast awful, ribs hard and dry, chips were disgusting rest was mediocre

This is my go to Chinese, all the rest ain’t a patch on this place. It’s a little pricey but everything is these days. Very nice 👌🏼

Knowing that it was Christmas Eve I ordered a take away at approx 5.30 only half an hour after they opened. The time is now 21.01 and after a chase up call 45 mins ago still no food. It’s inconceivable that in half an hour they can be over three hours behind service.

Been going here all my life not as good as when george was there but still probably best chinise takeaway in southend so been a family tradition for xmas eve but this year i was told i cant take veg out dish for my daughter so no chinise this year

My son has add and add and is very hyperactive, ordered our dinner and had the delivery driver and front of house worker keep looking at us as I was trying to get him to sit down, when got home had realised half of order wasn't there husband went back and found the two members of staff talking about me and our child will not be returning

I had a lovely chow-mein on Sunday evening it was all delicious well cooked and hot. The chicken was so good and the noodles were melt in the mouth! Altogether excellent thank you.

Was told an hour and half for delivery (which I thought was a bit much anyway) took over 2hours to arrive, and then it was all just a bit rubbish! Could re-sole my shoe with the beef, the chicken was tough & chewy, sauce was watery and bland! Won’t go back 🙁

Fillet beef king do- way too sweet and heavy on the artifical flavours and colours. Sweet and sour chicken- same as above, too sweet and artificial. Crispy duck in plum sauce- tasty but sweet and artificial. Squid in salt and chilli pepper was nice. Special fried rice - tasty Singapore chow mein- tasty.

We ordered a Chinese from this place and it was like it was yesterdays food heated up and burnt, the taste was just of an oil taste. This is the second time in a row the food has come like this and no offer of replacement food or money back!!! We was left hungry and even the chips was burnt to a crisp, utterly disgusted with this takeaway restaurant and we will never use them again the food was not edible!!!! Health and safety food hygiene will be informed about the disgusting food and service!!!

The best Chinese take away around, nothing comes close, out of this world, I’d recommend the crispy duck in plum sauce and the satay chicken skewers 🤤

Excellent food. Very busy and could not get through on the phone so went in and ordered. Food took 30 mins or so. Very tasty

The food is amazing, the menu is excellent, catering for a variety of dietary needs but..... the waiting time is ridiculous, even if you pick it up yourself.

I always use this store for my Chinese because it is very nice & staff always polite & friendly. U can now go in store to order & wait, it wasn't busy when I went & I didn't have to wait long.

For years we went to one local to us and were told by friends to try this place...it doesn’t fail this place the food is outstanding ,the lady on the phone is lovely and the food always arrives quick and piping hot 10/10 don’t just take my word though go try it

We have used Man Fung for our Chinese take away for the last few years .. Food is always fresh and hot , even when we have it delivered.. It’s always a long wait for delivery, due to such good food ...

We’ve tried them twice now and the first time the bean curd we ordered was fried badly, it was so tough. The second time they messed up our order and gave us a wrong dish. (However the sauces are indeed well made and quite tasty.)

Me and my mum and my sis Been going there for 20 or more years and wouldnt go any were else they all ways have the best tasting food and nice size dishes nice staff the new menu is nicly layed out (like the old) and easy to read all though prices have gone up abit just hope it dont go up even more as i love to go there I love the new items in there i just had the new all in one egg fried rice chips and sauce it was a really nice portion for the price over all me and my mum are really happy with man fung and what they serve keep up the good work

The chicken and sweet corn soup can not be beaten every dish I have ever ordered has been top quality they never disappoint - service good and swift. I will never use an other Chinese Ma Fung all the way!

It took a while to find a decent Chinese when we moved here. I can happily recommend this one. It can get a bit busy and sometimes it's better to collect than to have it delivered. It can get so busy that it's difficult to get through to order but then it's busy because it's good.

I have been coming here for years and always loved it. However the customer service I received from the woman on the phone was disgustingly rude and un welcoming. For this I will not be returning in future.

Normally this is a lovely chinese to have food from but tonight was told 40 minutes for our delivery and we waited almost two hours and whnbthe driver arrived he stunk of cannibis totally unacceptable

Picked up two orders only to find sauce missing from sweet and sour chicken. Phoned to tell them, no apology and asked if we would go back (10 mile round trip). We said no you can deliver it, cant do it too busy ! Will refund next time you in ? Rude and wont accept that their job to get it to us. Nice food poor service and attitude, also expensive.

Man Fung is one of the best Chinese takeaways in Southend. The staff are lovely and the food is fresh and well cooked. Non of that MSG nonsense that makes you hungry an hour later!

Always a good meal at this iconic take away restaurant on Southchurch Road. Friendly staff and good prices however the cooking time can take a while and sometimes isn't relative to the standard of the food itself.

Got chicken chow mien and chips. Was lovely. Fast service and reasonable price. Prawn crackers were also great.

Pedimos nuestra comida y se sentó a esperar. 45 minutos más tarde nos preguntó cuánto tiempo la comida era en realidad va a ser. Sin mencionar cuando entramos en cualquier retraso largo.

If ordering take away this is always my first choice for Chinese. Competent staff get the orders & meals correct & delivery is timely.

Usando Hombre Fung durante un año, he probado una amplia variedad de sus platos y casi todo es perfecto. Las porciones son generosas y la calidad de los ingredientes, incluyendo el pollo y carne que usan es realmente bueno. El precio es ligeramente más alto que la mayoría de comida para llevar china en la zona que he probado, pero he de decir que vale la pena. El único aspecto negativo que he encontrado es su salsa curry, es demasiado dulce y no tiene suficiente profundidad de sabor comparado con otros chino curry salsas que he probado. El pollo desmenuzado sal Chili es increíble! Y también ofrecen algunos extras platos donde el arroz y un plato principal en una caja, perfecto si sólo están pidiendo una. Si estás harto con su habitual chino dan Hombre Fung intentarlo.

Este es mi local china y siempre nos dan para llevar desde aquí. Comparado con otros lugares la comida aquí es excelente. El pollo en salsa de frijol negro tiene una gran patada a las costillas, me encanta Peking y dulce y agria pollo al estilo de Hong Kong. ¡Me encanta!

Waited 2 hours for a beef curry and rice,with chips.promised twice it's just another 10 minutes.called 3 times in total.when it did arrive the beef curry was okay.the chips reheated and disgusting.no flavour and stale.a complaints in the post.shame really because although these Chinese takeaways are usually good,they sometimes let themselves down with a poor bag of chips and lose a customer. They also bite off more that they can chew,tell you 30 minutes so you place a order and you end up waiting well over a hour.i keep you posted about a refund for my crappy chips.

Wow, this little takeaway is extremely consistent which is why I go back virtually every week. It's not the cheapest around but you get what you pay for when it comes to quality. Personally I'm a massive carnivore BUT, the salt and chilli pepper tofu is to die for and must be tried!
