Mr Ping Restaurant in Southend-on-Sea

The katsu curry was very very goey and tasteless, the 3X spring rolls tasted like they had gone off and totally un-edible. However the rest of my £60+ order was lovely, but i won't be ordering again

Most of my food did not arrive was my first time ordering. So not happy. However The food I did get was nice

Have ordered many times and left good reviews however tonight the food was bad. Duck spring rolls were still frozen in middle and the noodles tasted off, ended to throwing it in bin.

Excellent quality, not greasy, thoroughly recommend. Some dishes do have slightly too many onions as a filler.

Amazing food, piping hot, well packaged and great quality

The house special chow mein was nice but lemon chicken was dry. Was supposed to be chicken foo yung but the "meat" was tasteless and strange texture. Didn't look or taste like chicken to me!

Was disappointed with the lack of prawns in the prawn toast and the bitterness of the sweet and sour sauce. This was one of the worst chinese meals I have had in a long time. Would not reccommend and will not use again.

Always consistently great! Genuinely always lovely and fresh tasting. Shame they don't do the Korean food anymore as that was so nice especially the kimchi rice and the Korean style chicken (it's like s&s chicken HK style, but a Korean BBQ sauce instead). Please bring it back! ❤️

Man that was terrible. Freezing cold when it came. The sweet and sour sauce stuck like a bottle of vinegar. Didn't taste great either. Won tons that you will never have anywhere else as they were bloody awful. Flat twisted bits of deep fried filo pastry with nothing in them. No filling. Just came with more awful sweet and sour sauce. Been looking forward to it all day and it's all pretty much gone in the bin

Ordered at 18.48 and food arrived at 20.18 therefore not good at all in terms of service, which is s shame but I guess takeaways are no the priority? Why should anyone have to wait well over an hour for a takeaway? There are other Chinese restaurants

RUDE RUDE RUDE. They forgot a portion of egg fried rice on a £60.49 order. I phoned the restaurant to let them know and just ask to be refunded. They argued with me over the missing £4.20 rice and denied it was missing and were making me count containers of food and tell them how many we have. I used to ordered nearly weekly spending between £60-£80, NEVER AGAIN. Shocking customer service, rude staff and to be honest the food is extremely expensive however. Acted like I’m trying to steal £4.20

Great choice for a large group. We had a big round table for a party of ten. The food was delicious, with plenty of choice on the menu and interesting new things to try. All the staff were polite, friendly and professional and the atmosphere was perfect for a catch up of old friends. I think there was background music but that's exactly what it was - nice and subtle without being intrusive. The cost was higher than the last time I dined at an all-you-can-eat, but you have to appreciate that everything has gone up in the last few years - it was a fair reflection of their hard work to keep the customer happy.

Food was great, staff were very attentive and friendly. Could perhaps do with a refresh in terms of decoration but the food more than made up for that

Got much less rice than a £1 packet rice never experienced so little rice before. Duck curry tasted nice but was watery and duck inedible

The chicken chow mein had an unusual texture as though the noodles had been overcooked, and a couple of the dishes weren't very hot (temperature wise). Took 1 hr 10 mins to arrive which is quite slow.

I thought I would try a different Chinese for a change, and I’m so glad I did, I won’t be going anywhere else now ! The food is bang on , 10/10

Ordere online via Just Eat, food arrived in super quick time. We ordered vegan salt + chilli beef, vegan kung po chicken, vegan mixed veg fried rice and vegan salt + chilli chicken. All food was very tasty, this place offers an excellent range of meat-free options.

Perfect food. Mr Pings is great and we never have to wait till the arranged delivery time, always a little earlier. We won't order from anywhere else in future.

Ordered off just eat , big tasty hot portions - came when it should and can reccomend. The singapore noodles where absolutely amazing.

Went to Mr Pings for All you can eat Sunday buffet.Plenty of choice, freshly cooked and very tasty. I like the idea that the food is brought to the table, and the service was great. There were five in my group and we all had a great time. My only criticism is that the decor needs an upgrade.

Really low quality think the salt and pepper chips were reheated from day before, very expensive for quite basic items

Chip's were dry. Ribs were fatty. Noodles were ok but a bit greasy.

First time on all you can eat and I have to say I was impressed food was really nice especially the veg soup my son had two. The food was hot and quick to be served. I would say the duck was nice but the portion was light. It's not cheap with drinks but a good night out for a treat.

Excellent food, excellent service, one of the best Chinese takeaways in Southend!

This is my regular Chinese takeaway restaurant but last two meals not so good. Took a gamble and glad to say Mr Ping is much improved and the meal was great. Rice not clumped together, good portion sizes, delivered hot and within the time line.

Despite just eat's terrible website giving the restaurant the wrong address. The food was on time and well worth the wait!

But it was delivered to my back gate and not my front door. if we come back then please find our front door!

We would have liked to have sat at a bigger table .. we asked for a bigger table on arrival at 5pm only to he told they are fully booked...just as we finished our meal a family of 4 came in .. just a bit disappointed that they couldn't have moved us. Food was lovely as always and staff friendly and kind.

Delicious Vegan Chinese August 2024 My son in law just treated me and my wife to a Chinese takeaway from Mr Pings, we were a little unsure as it's generally hard to find good vegan alternatives. I was initially impressed with the amount of dishes they have listed on their menu! We asked for one dish not on their vegan list, and they advised that they couldn't 100% say that it was vegan (respect the honesty). We had vegan chicken balls with sweat & sour sauce, vegan chilli beef, rice, and rice noodles (made for us as they advised their normal noodles are made with egg) with veg. All in all, the food was amazing, very tasty, and we really appreciate their transparency. We will be back and are so happy that we've finally found a Chinese that does really good Vegan food, thank you Mr Pings! ✌️🌱💚🙏

Absolutely disgusting - nothing fresh , rice was slimey. 1 star is to much for this vile restaurant. Seaweed refried I would say days old - Avoid at all costs. !!!! Ordered and arrived in 11 mins!!!!

The delivery instructions weren’t followed

We hadn't been to Mr Pings in over 25 years! It had been a family favourite but we moved slightly out of the area and stopped visiting. I'm so glad we returned. The food is as excellent as we remembered, all the favourites plus some new dishes we were keen to try, such as chicken dumplings. Delicious. We had the £25 a head menu, as much as you can eat. Small dishes, but obviously you can reorder and reorder, all the food is hot and fresh. Drinks and desserts can soon add up, 4 of us, I had 2 half shandys, the bill was £200. Nice people run this restaurant and work there. The place is spotlessly clean. We had a lovely evening and came home happy and very full!

We had this as a takeaway; The vegan prawn is really good, actually in the shape of prawn,with the pattern,as was the vegam chicken,in fact they have quite the range of vegan options, the sauce with them was good too. Affordable,too. Staff were friendly and accommodating

So much choice on their vegan menu! I had the sweet and sour “chicken” and the shredded chilli “beef” was so good! So nice to see proper vegan options on a Chinese menu! Looking forward to trying more!

Fantastic! As per usual all the time....

The only saving grace was the food. We got warm Dr pepper and no free prawn crackers as advertised. It was tasty but very expensive as well. Only a starter and main each and drinks at £15 per head plus service and delivery charge... Not terrible but not the best either.

Delivery driver was late, didn't call us, nothing, when I called they said they delivered to the wrong address, said they wouldn't refund but sent food out again, there's only one travelodge in the area! Driver made excuses it wasn't him, bs, food was bland, not worth the near two hour wait.

The shredded beef was dry and mainly batter - I detected no meat at all, and the chilli and salt were undetectable. The egg fried rice was plain, old, clumpy boiled rice with bits of egg in it. Both were tasteless, cold, dry and I couldn’t eat it.

The best sweet and sour chicken balls very nice

Spent a lot of money and no free items as advertised. Everything was cold. Chicken chow mien bland and greasy. Curry sauce lumpy and bland. Katsu taste like frozen and defrosted / was thick lumpy no flavour, barely any sauce too. Dreadful.

I have used Mr Pings before and eaten on their restaurant on numerous occasions, however, if this was my first time using them probably wouldn't return. Some of the meal was lovely and warm. Other parts were bland and cold.

Food was ok, was only warm on arrival. A lot of money for average food. Or just maybe not my cup of tea?!

The food is fantastic, lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans and the delivery is super fast. Will be using Mr Ping from now on.

Had takeaway. food was good but the chill crispy beef was just half a portion. Looked like someone had eaten half the dish.

I was sent chicken not vegetarian tofu. I ate one piece I'm really upset

Not only was it late, but the app said it was delivered at 20:05 when it wasn’t. Then when i submitted a claim for help, the delivery time changed to 20:50. And didn’t turn up until 21:00, and was like warm/ some items were cold

It was a lovely restaurant, we had takeaway and the food was amazing as it was freshly cooked when we ordered as if we were dining in the restaurant , top marks would recommend , best Chinese in Southchurch area 10/10

Very rude women on the phone when we didn't receive our full order. How they keep trading, I will never know. Avoid this restaurant Always been a fan up till. Now.

First time ordering from you and believe me when I say it will be the last. Ended up with a horrific case of food poisoning. Your establishment needs to be shut down.

I know we’re in a cost of living crisis but the cut backs from this place are crazy. We had hardly any meat in any of our dishes and 0 seasoning: flavourless . Really underwhelming. The spring rolls say meat but there wasn’t any in them.

Great food. Super quick delivery from the restaurants own delivery person. Only issue was chips were missing from order.

We had a family birthday at Mr. Pings, it was a lovely evening, the staff were very friendly and helpful, will definitely be going back.
