The best restaurants serving Chinese food in East of England

Your typical British Chinese, but in a good way. Have only been here for take out, but thought it was good quality food and not too expensive. You can order online and pay on pick up, which is very convenient.

Came in last night as sit in was busy decided on a takeaway. Ordered at 6.05pm said food would be ready in 30/40mins come back then. Not a problem we will come back. Came back to wait as told it wasn't going to be much longer which is fine. this point its 6.50pm and still no update. When they went to go get an update on our food from the cook they replied that they couldn’t give a time on when it will be ready. To our reply have they even started cooking yet? Answer was no. It’s now 7.05pm an hour after ordering and not even started cooking it, we cancelled our order and got a refund. To then us going down the road to another Chinese and getting one within 10minutes. If your extremely busy with sit ins and know you can’t fulfill a takeaway order. Don’t take any more orders. Girls on the desk was lovely and clearly pushed to limits because of the kitchen.

I am very appalled with the service I received last weekend. After receiving The wrong food I phoned to let them know, to my surprise the lady was extremely unhelpful just saying that is what I had ordered, I would not have order this dish as I am vegetarian, it was full of meat and seafood which was wasted. I will not be using Hong Kong chef in the future as they obviously don’t care if their customers are happy.

The food is always lovely and fresh. Shame they don't deliver or take cards. They could make more effort with the menus on display and the waiting area, but this isn't a deal breaker!. Staff were friendly and respectful. My goto Chinese in the area.

Fish large but batter soft and inedible. Chips rock hard cooked completely wrong. Service terrible one woman doing all the phone calls plus trying to organise. Been local for 30 years and the new management is terrible.

Jade Garden is the local fish & chips shop just up the road. Nice fries and good haddock. Nothing special, but a very decent place for take-out.

What can I say “fabulous food” “fabulous service”. We popped in an advanced large order for a family gathering and Michael’s were amazing - collection ready for the time we asked - and quality of food top notch ! definitely a 5 star review from us

Absolutely awful. Im so disappointed as chop suey used to be a brilliant hitchin takeaway, got it as a treat this evening. Complete waste of money. Some of it was absolutely inedible, the rice tastes off, the chicken in the chicken balls was rock solid, chips undercooked. Honestly terrible.

I called and they said that i had bad service and hung up on me. I called them back once no answer I then called them again and they answered, very rude man wanted to argue with me bad customer service. silly.

I bought sesame prawn toast last night,and discovered after I had eaten a whole peice,that it seemed a bit meaty,and not tasting right. So I pulled one apart,and discovered that they have pressed down a peice of poultry,or at least I think it was.to the bread,and covered the mystery meat with sesame seeds. I will now be reporting them,as I don't know what I ate,and someone could get ill from an allergic reaction. And there was no shrimp paste at all.

Kings Garden in Wickford is a hidden gem! I recently ordered from them and was blown away by the quality and flavor of their food. The delivery was fast and the food arrived hot and fresh. The portions were generous, and the dishes were packed with authentic Chinese flavors. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the prices were very reasonable.
