Spoon World Buffet & Bar in Ipswich

We hadn't visited for over a year. waited ages to be seated and served drinks. very understaffed for the amount of customers. very noisy. Not the best atmosphere to enjoy a meal, very expensive for food and drinks. tables were rammed close together. Felt you were sat on top of each other. potatoes' and some vegetable's were soggy or undercooked. A large family sat opposite us were noisy rude and had unsupervised kids running around shouting tripping over chairs and falling into the back of our chairs knocking off coats etc. staff never intervened once. Food thrown all over the floor chairs. Some foods had run out and not replenished. A poor service for a lot of money. We wont be returning anytime soon.

The food is lovely however where it is constantly being heated the rice becomes dry and hard in places otherwise nice

Today,I went there with my best friends and the food was amazing! It tasted so good I actually had 6 bowls of food.You should try the chicken,pizza,ice cream and cake.The service incredible! I can't tell you how nice the staff were and when there was a registered table I wanted to sit at, they were kind enough to explain it was reserved for someone and every time I had an empty finished plate they always came to collect it.All members of staff were so nice and so caring towards me and other customers.Oh, I can't forget this last bit the atmosphere,so brilliant the atmosphere was so good that I could live there.It also looks good inside and out amazing job! Definitely recommend.

After reading some of the reviews on here, I was a bit sceptical about our visit on Friday 23rd August. From the moment I arrived it was nothing short of sensational. Best Chinese food I've ever had, miles better than any of the take-aways that I use. I then turned my attention to the English food and that was just as good. £20.99 for as much as you can eat and £3.50 for a refillable soft drink was bloody good value. The staff were great and the plates were cleared away quickly. Only downside was that you only get one and a half hours (I arrived at 7.00pm) and the restaurant closes at 8.30, now I know that, I'll book a bit earlier!! Other than that it was a great experience and although I live out of the area, I will DEFINITELY return there again and again whenever I visit Ipswich.

Self service, food is nice and something for most anyone. Limited drinks (would like to see an ale even if in bottle). I personally only ate about 2 small plates so not cost effective for me to pay full cost. However, big eaters will appreciate the amount you can have.

Food was amazing. I'm a big Chinese fan so I can say just that alone is worth the visit. Pizza so good not anything like just a deep pan from a takeaway. Deserts so many to choose from. Didn't have room for much else so have to go back and try again 10/10

Mixed feelings about this place. I went with son amd Dil, who, rate this place! Initial contact with staff was lovely, unfortunately stuck to the flior throughout the walk to our table. Stuck to table too and there was dropped food on the base of table. Utensils could do with a wipe one out of the dishwasher also. But then there's the food! Co sidering you're helping yourself to food that others have 'dished' into before you... it was really tasty! The guiness, however was off...but once returned, was given a fresher tasting one (would've been hanged in Ireland for any of them mind!) All in all, not bad for food... too pricey, in my opinion... glad I only paid the car park!

Yes, lots of choice but what I have it is not really tasty. Some of them are salty some of them says spicy and most of the food very dry and Everybody face is very upset even entrance reception I guess owned the place she wasn’t look happy customers come in very aggressive. I guess they’re cultures like this but doesn’t matter when Qustomer turn up smiley if you don’t happy, what are you doing? You wouldn’t successful long time.

I love Spoon, I’ve been here so much with family and friends, have two birthdays here and they were perfect. If you’re the type to want to stuff your face this is the place to be. The service are really nice and they don’t bother you unnecessarily

Loved it went with my Mum on my 25th birthday,lovely friendly staff etc and gave me a free birthday drink of koperburg strawberry and lime cider,and a lovely birthday wish and nice presented cake from the staff,also great stuff to chat to made me feel very welcome

Me does not correspond to the real one. The meat is very dry. The price is very expensive. The sushi was not very tasty, it was just rice. There was no choice of sushi. I don't recommend this establishment.

World buffet, a few Chinese Thai,, Indian dishes. Some seafood choices, Turkish doner kebab, Japanese sushi bar, sausages, chips, nuggets and pizza , roast food and more plus selection of deserts. The restaurant was bright and clean and had good atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Had another visit here yesterday as it’s a firm favourite with my kids. Let me start by saying - 90 minutes doesn’t seem much time but very few people could actually eat for 90 minutes. Plenty of food and choices from all over the globe. If it’s supposed to be hot it is and if it’s supposed to be chilled it is! Bottomless soft drinks is also a bonus! The staff are friendly and welcoming from the front door to the staff clearing tables - nothing is too much trouble! They make a small fuss for people’s birthday with music over the PA system and a small cake with a candle brought out! Nothing too “in your face” but enough to make someone feel special. Not sure how people have negative experiences here as we’ve been several times at varying times of the day and always found the welcome and staff friendly with plenty of food! If there was anything negative to say I have 2 things - There’s possibly a bit too much to choose from! And the second one isn’t down to them - it’s a shame some parents don’t keep their children under control!

Amazing experience food well stocked and well cooked.delicious to eat the range is unbelievable it's literally everything under one roof.the drinks choice for soft drinks with the refillable option is outstanding the waiters and waitresses so polite. Entrance to the establishment is very well organised Can't wait to go again

Food was good and diverse for everyone, desert section could have done with a lot more for what you got ice cream and some chocolate fudge or jelly’s and that was roughly all that was there for the deserts Service was good for when we got in and got seated quickly but felt like they were all staring at me whilst I was eating to see if I had finished my plate, twice I was approached to see if I had finished my meal as the plate was half full and I was having a drink which was rude and they were all standing around us whilst we was eating it was a full self service get your own and food and drink there was hardly anything for them to be doing, Atmosphere was okay there was no restaurant music as what I would call it and the setting was good all tables clean and comfortable chairs but where they were emptying off all of the plates was right beside me and my girlfriend which was putting her straight off of her food and for £25 a person to us wasn’t worth it

Nice place for a get together with family and friends. Service with a smile. If you are looking for a place to have a nice meal with friends and family, this place is a must try. The buffet options are brilliant for the price. My family and friends loved the experience so much so that they now recommend this place to others vehemently. Car parking is available within walking distance of the location.

I have a blue card( NHS worker) and they did not do discount for all family, They did the discount only for one person. I think that this is not correct as I pay for my kids, and no one give me the money to pay for may kids. I think they should revise this and the discount should be accepted for all family. The food is very good

It's pretty good. Food from around the world, hot, well presented and tasty. Standard format and reasonably priced. Staf were helpful and very god with kids.

This is the biggest Self serve buffet style restaurant ive ever seen in the uk. The webpage for this business is exactly as it says. Spacious, friendly staff. The different range of foods are delicious, from pizza to muscles, chinese to indian, they have it. Including chicken nuggest, sushi coveyor, refil drinks & desserts.

I had an amazing time at Spoon Ipswich! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive and made me feel right at home. The menu is diverse and the food was absolutely delicious – every dish was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. I highly recommend Spoon Ipswich to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. We were invited to a buffet to celebrate my sister's colleague's birthday at Spoon. Unfortunately, we arrived just 30 minutes before closing time, so I couldn't enjoy the buffet experience as much as I would have liked. Nonetheless, I sampled a few dishes and particularly enjoyed their lasagne. The broccoli was also cooked perfectly to my liking. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant.

Delicious food, amazing variety too. It was our first time and we would’ve appreciated someone explaining how the system works. We didn’t know some stations were request only so missed out on streaks for example. Other than that, great! Will definitely return. There is no on site parking.

After reading the reviews we decided it was not for us then we went into town saw how busy it was and thought we would give it a go.The Buffet had so many choices and good value for £18.99 for a Friday night,Drinks can be bought from a seperate bar and were pretty cheap compared to some buffets.We really thought it was excellent and do not be put off by some of the reviews.

Great value for money .ost off the food was great especially the ribs all in all very good will deffo be going back .

Didn't book but we walked in at 6pm and they had table for us. Thet were not yet too busy at that time. A very good variety of dishes nicely presented, with a few made to order selections. Apart from the mains that are reasonably seasoned, I am especially delighted by the salad bar and the desserts bar. Very clean toilets as well.

Who doesn’t like Spoon in Ipswich? The kids love it

We visited for the first time on a Saturday night. You definitely need to reserve a table as this place gets unbelievably busy. The food was great, especially the Chinese. There was a kebab bar, and cook to order steak and calamari grill, a chocolate fountain, a crepe station and much much more. The food was actually really good and at £19.99 for an adult you can't complain. We will definitely be going back.

It was good before COVID but now quality and taste all gone!

I went for the second time in the last 4 years and I see that the prices have increased, no surprises, but the quality isn't at the same level. The choice is greatly reduced and most of the items are salty to my liking. Good to try once.

Avoid at all cost, food is terrible. If you want to get the stomach pains then go here. Use to be a lovely place but I guess cutting cost means to serve terrible food

How do you still have customers? Firstly, I called to make sure they knew there were two birthdays in the group, and they told me themselves that they would give us a cake and so we brought only one more. Right from arrival, staff are rude and dismissive, the staff at the bar overcharges me for a bottle of wine and refuses to refund me. After we eat, we ask for the cake we brought and the cake they were supplying; it is warm, indicating it was not put in the fridge but left out. As for the second cake, they tell us they didn’t know about the second birthday and will bring us a slice of cake. Just before we cut the cake they tell us they’re closing in 10 minutes and leave the front door open. Genuinely save your money and go to a different restaurant or just don’t go out at all.

Cocktail are rubish not real ,made 100/cente of juice,money grabbing, the resta are fantastic,food,atmosphere, and the service,but the supervisor money look like should be more friendly.

Took my mum here for mother's day. I booked a table which I recommend if your gonna go at peak time. The food was going quick but the staff were great at keeping everything replenished. I was surprised because even though it was super busy the staff were very freindly which I haven't normally found in buffets. For us it worked out at £23 per head that was with unlimited fizzy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 🤩🤩

We took our Granddaughter and friend for dinner. There is so much choice and most cuisine tastes are covered. A serve-yourself buffet, so you can eat as much or as little as you like. Staff regularly attend to check all is OK and are quick to clear tables. Good value for what's on offer. Highly recommended!

The food was good, what to expect from a buffet, good selection, we went when it was a quiet period but still busy.

We went hear for anniversary dinner we paid then was told we had to be out by 16.30 witch gave us an hour, paid 3 pound for refillable didn't have time for that, the food was warm at best, chicken was very dry the puddings looked old got my husband the apple crumble and custard that had obviously been sat a long while, had two plates of cold food one of witch was left mostly untouched, this place used to be very good before COVID don't know what happend, and to add to this we had a sticker on our table for what time to leave and staff kept coming over to check, felt very uncomfortable and rushed

Staff were rude from the point we turned up. Glasses were filthy. Foid was below par Serving areas were also a mess.

Was worried after reading reviews but we went anyways. We got there 5pm and food was all hot and well prepared and presented. I ate more than i usually would and even went twice for dessert. We had a really wonderful meal and everyone enjoyed it and we are fussy. Reception staff were a bit cold and. Frosty if I had to say anything negative but constructive.

Rude staff. Threatened to kick us out over an honest mistake. The women who spoke to us claimed to be the manager and then told my friend that the manager was downstairs. She offered us a voucher and then said that she couldn't do it. To add to the further disappointment, half the food was cold and inedible. This is my first andante ever visit. Strongly recommended you find elsewhere

I had heard some mixed comments about spoons so I thought I would give it a try for myself. I was not disappointed! Staff very friendly in front of house. Food serving staff looked s bit miserable though. But the food was hot, very tasty and we'll presented. I would gladly go back and I shall recommend it to my friends and family. Came here with the kids for my husband's birthday. We always love an all you can eat buffet as the kids don't often have to patience to wait for food to be served when they're super hungry. It's such a treat for them to be able to get up and help themselves to whatever they want whenever they want. We ordered the unlimited soft drinks - £3 to have as many drinks as you like. The food was tasty but the chicken was quite dry in most of the dishes and so was the roast pork. We were a little disappointed that some of the food stations were closed and I think the tepanyaki could have been better if it had included onions and sauces. That said, we got a very generous portion of prawns and calamari which were cooked to perfection. The desserts were out of this world. We went back for thirds! We will definitely be going back again!

Not as good as it has been, the place looked tired and food was of ok standard. Some of the food was dry. The lasagne tasted like fish so I think they had used fish stocks instead of beef.

Never again! Think of it as someone going into Iceland, buying the cheapest frozen poor quality food, and reheating. No idea what the “chicken nuggets” were, but the texture was vile! Most food luke warm. Pizza like rubber. Lasagne soft and soggy. Desserts mainly empty, just defrosted frozen food. Seating so close together, hard to squeeze by to get food. Would have been better off going to McDonalds

It was OK, wouldn't go back, mainly Chinese dishes, some parents jist didn't care and were swearing at there children LOUD and to top it off the wife and I had stomach ache for 2 days after.

Great place for those work celebrations when everyone cannot decide on what food to eat. Good selection of food even if a little Chinese heavy. The only thing the food was Luke warm, however they microwaved it so was much more enjoyable for me. Service was ok however the people hovering who clean the plates away were a little off putting.

First time ever going to a Spoons, hearing so much about how excellent they are rude not to pay a visit. Greeted by some amazing staff who were instantly courteous and polite, paid £20 per person and immediately shown to a table. Very clean, spacious and music wasn’t too loud. Well when we got up to check out the cuisine we were astounded by how many dishes were available, just didn’t know what to go for first. I went straight in for the Indian cuisine & what a choice there is, second choice was Chinese cuisine & sushi, followed by pizza. To be honest there’s so much it was a hard decision to choose. We didn’t have long as we had an appointment, but you can stay all evening and just take your time and enjoy the atmosphere. Plenty of desserts to choose from from ice cream, jelly, cakes, apple crumble & custard, a huge chocolate fountain with marshmallows, the list is endless. Highly recommend this establishment from the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be great, very clean toilets, tables, I always check the floor too see if there has been any food left totally clean, which is always a big plus. We would like to thank all the staff here for a fantastic meal, Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 This establishment 💯% gets a 5 star ⭐️& we shall return for a second helping & I’ll make sure I don’t have any food the night before, so I’m starving when we get there 🤣😂🤣🙏🏻

Our first time here, we was recommended to this place by 2 different people, All I can say is.wowww perfect. If you've never tired octopus before your chance to had it with sushi bar.Staff absolutely friendly. Jenny the manager was spot on all staff superb. You can try anything and everything.

The booking process was very straight forward, even for a Friday. The food was mostly great. A varied selection. Many dishes available. However, the squid and steaks that are prepared on the grill aren't that good. The squid is very bland, even with seasoning and sauce. The steaks are fatty and small, which made them difficult for the chef to prepare as medium rare. That being said, the Chinese selection of foods, as well as the Indian selection, we're delicious. The salt and pepper prawns were perfect with a little satay sauce. The spare ribs, satay chicken, tikka masala, and more were definitely tasty! The desserts section was also varied. With fruits, cakes, ice cream, and a marshmallow table with a chocolate fountain. Very nice touch. Drinks are somewhat reasonably priced, although the bar is small and the queue can be rather long. Staff are constantly removing dirty/used dishes and cutlery and supplying new cutlery, with plates available all over, when you are ready to eat. Overall I would recommend this restaurant as I devoured 6plates of food and was very satisfied afterwards.

The food was nice, not the best place to get into even with a booking . Only had two drinks as getting served at the bar was a nightmare, not enough staff members. Good price for the amount of food you can have . Indian,Chinese,two different pizzas carvery was rubbish.

Been a few times and it’s a great place! Staff are always accommodating and quick to clear plates left at the edge of the table. Great variety and something for everyone! I also like the ungendered toilets - solely so I’m not the only one that has to take the kids!

We came here tonight on date night as was told how good it was after attending similar all you could eat buffets we were sadly disappointed. When I tried to book on the website it don't appear to work, so we rang up and lady on phone didn't seem to be able to get off the phone quick enough. When we arrived at the restaurant and seated were not asked if we had attended before, no drinks menu on table so had to look on a different table for one. We had a look around the different dishes that were available and thought there was alot things missing that we expected to see like prawn toast, more than 2 curries and no nann breads, was pork being served instead of duck with pancakes. A number of the counters were not open which on one of the most expensive evenings of the week you wouldn't expect, no kebab, no Indian and no Cantonese. Chicken and sweetcorn soup was cold and when reported to member of staff they didn't seem to understand. Deserts were dry and still semi frozen. Lack of options of deserts, barely any fruit and apple crumble had almonds on top. Most of the staff don't seem to speak very good English. Overall food quality very poor and I won't be returning or recommending to anyone.

We had to queue outside for about 39mins even though we had a booking. But after entering, it felt like it was certainly worth the wait. Top notch quality food literally from around the world. An awesome food journey and excellent atmosphere. I would certainly recommend it to anyone celebrating a special occasion
