Good Taste in Ipswich

So.much.salt! I'm gutted, we've used good taste for years and it's always been exceptional, but then the waiting times for delivery started to get ridiculous and we stopped for a while. We thought we'd give them one more go, arrived around the right time but the food was so heavily salted it was inedible. It's really hard finding a Chinese that offers good veggie/vegan options... back to the drawing board!

Salty food that makes you feel ill after eating so no longer go here .

Order arrived quickly, it was still hot and tasted great, the man on the phone was polite and friendly, the delivery driver was very pleasant too, thank you, will definitely order again 🙂

Food is okay, good options. There seems to be a point / loyalty system that no one (not event the staff) know how to use, to which I find incredibly frustrating.

Terrible experience with delivery. Told it would be 1 hour 45 after we had placed the order but decided to proceed and it was over 2 hours 30 after I called and complained by phone that the food arrived. Was informed there was a problem with the kitchen but if you can’t fulfill the order do not take it. Managed to secure a minimal discount after much discussion but totally unacceptable service. Will not be returning.

Super slow delivery. Ordered and was given a countdown timer of 1hr 45, disappointing but hey Ho, we’ve ordered now. After 2 hours tried to contact them, no luck. Turned up after 2 hours 30 minutes! Won’t bother again, bloody ridiculous

New favourite Chinese! We’ve now used this Chinese takeaway for the past few months and every time the food has been fresh and hot, and the order correct! The consistency in food and service has been spot on even in really busy days.

Cancelled an order for no reason with no explanation after they accepted it - dont bother

Having been regular customers for the past 5 years, I won't use again now. 90min delivery time, fair enough sat evening.... but luke warm food most of which was incorrect... nope, no more custom from us.

Worst food got order totally wrong rude when complained chicken ball where pink in side food cold had to reheat food never going here again

We have ordered from here many times. Have never had a bad meal. Tonight we made the mistake of ordering but put pick up as the option. We didn’t notice and waited nearly an hour. We got a phone call to say it was ready for pick up. We asked if we could pay the extra for it to be delivered as we had had a glass of wine. It was here with in 15 minutes,still hot and very delicious. This is not the first time staff have gone above and beyond. Highly recommend and thank you Good Taste

Food arrived 35 mins late, cold, and with 2 of the 5 dishes we ordered missing. When I called to tell them they couldn't havent been less interested, just said to ask uber eats for a refund. Not useful when you've been waiting an hour and a half for your food and it's 9 o'clock!

Regular customer. Gone downhill. Service shocking and as for the dopey girl on the front desk who is more interested in her phone than giving you your food that’s been sitting there for 5 minutes. Collection half hour late. Pathetic service

Great food, fast service, and excellent vegan options. Can't rate or comment on the atmosphere as it's a takeaway. The staff behind the counter are always polite but very busy taking and fulfilling orders.

Food arrived 30 mins late! I phoned to be told it would be here any minute, it still took another 15 minutes to arrive. Chips were cold, chicken over cooked & like rubber! Chow mein was salty & the meal was mostly thrown in the bin!

Very good food, the pancake rolls i highly recommend so full of everything and tasty, the food from here is very good and I have no complaints as we have not had a bad dish yet.

Used before and was great. This time waited 1 hour 30 mins. Had to call and was told short of drivers would have to wait a further 40 mins. Not good enough. Will not use again. Lady didn’t seem to care. Thank you.

The most amazing and delicious Chinese food in Ipswich. Singapore style rice noodles, vegan chicken sweet and sour Cantonese style, salt and chilli and vegan duck dishes are yummilicious. Curry sauce with special fried rice is to die for! Thank you Good Taste!

Can't recommend highly enough! The vegan chicken balls are AMAZING. One of the few Chinese takeaways that offer vegan options with actual meat alternatives, not just tofu. Food came quickly and hot, and good sized portions so we've got enough for leftovers tomorrow!

The food is always always wonderful- veggie options are insane!!! However- 3 hour delivery is not on. Try not to order on the website as this is when we were given the 2 hour wait.

Came here a few times now and what can I say its definitely the best Chinese around! I come all the way from felixstowe to get this just because there so much better than all the ones there cheaper too!!

It’s. My partners birthday today so we decided to try good taste Chinese. We ordered just before 7pm. By 8pm we called to ask if it was on way as when we ordered it said 58 minutes for it to be delivered. When we called we were told it will be another 45 minutes!! 1 hour 45 minutes without being informed is a joke. So kebab it is. Thanks

Love Good Taste. Usually 5 stars.. however ordered via Foodhub this evening, went over expected delivery time (which isn't usually a problem) but all our meals were cold. Just taken a bite from sesame prawn on toast 😱 think someone threw a load of salt into them 🥺

Very helpful server when I called to inquire about vegan options. Food was delicious! Would've given 5 stars however one of our meals was meat when we asked for vegan - thankfully we noticed and didn't eat it but still we wasted the money and it could've made us ill had we of eaten it.

Incredible vegan food options and had a very tasty veg chickn in black bean sauce! So lovely. Highly recommend

It was the General Tso's Chicken and when I got it home and tried some, it was the opposite of my experience with their PuPu Platter. I was the worst meal I have ever had at an Asian restaurant. The chicken was so overcooked, I could barely cut it with a butcher knife. I would suggest that they have NO quality control on the weekends. It made me wonder how long it had been sitting/cooking before I got it to go. Based on that experience, I cannot imagine going back and giving it another try. I gave them a second star based on my first meal there. This meal would have received a "0" or "1" star

Ordered a take away - first time in a long time - this take-away has an online order system which I had not used before but it works really well - count down on the collection time was a little out - no big deal - the order was nearly ready when I arrived - food was first rate - thanks

Had heard good reports on the food but was disappointed. Special chow mein had very little sauce and banana fritters were doughy and not crisp.

Vegan options are amazing! Make sure you ask for vegan options as weirdly they aren't obvious on the menu as they adapt the dishes to suit. Quality and value are super.

What a shame. After being customers for years and years we will not be using again. We put our order in, it was read back and we were told £25, when we picked it up it was £34, the food that we ordered wasn’t all there. After a phone call I was told I hadn’t ordered it, we all heard her read it back and the order was correct. The lady on the phone didn’t believe me and re cooked the missing food, I was told it would be £3:40 and came to pick up and it £5:20. After being loyal customers for years I would of expected better customer service. They didn’t care that we were unhappy and complained about the poor customer service we received. You have lost some regular customers .

Absolutely gorgeous food! You don’t get as much as the usual takeaway but what you get is not greasy and delicious. I reckon it’s the best I’ve had in Ipswich over the last 20 years

In this time and day not having at least 2 or 3 vegeterian options is absolutely awful. Ok you serve meat but jesus!!! The chef must be love meater. And does not apretiate that there are also meat eaters that likes to eat without meat. Ridiculous. Really expensive and looks like they bought the chairs from a victorian school.

me and y partner always order from here because we love the food!! they could make improvements on delivery time however… we waited an hour and 20 minutes and a rang to see where it was and then we were told 30 minutes and it was a no show. after ringing again we were told it’s going to be there any minute. much quicker from uber eats but only when they’re available. good amazing! 10/10 for us service 4/10

Order a beef curry.. there was so many onions which were not cooked.. the curry it self didn't taste of anything... not impressed

We ordered for collection a couple of weeks ago. It was a Saturday night so we expected it to be busy, but we had ordered many times on a Saturday evening before and not had any issues. On this occasion the food was poor. The chips were the worst we have ever had and looked like they had been cooked days before. The other dishes that we ordered didn’t have the freshly cooked taste that you would expect either, overall the meal was disappointing so much so that we would be very reluctant to place an order any time soon which is a great shame as we have ordered from good taste a lot over the years.

Food taste OK, but amount of salt or MSG is so huge, so if someone try to reduce amount of salt should try something different.

Had a variety of dishes last night, all were amazing! the chilli salt calamari is divine as was everything. I used to order regularly but this is the first time we were able to order in the past 2 years due to moving far away. The best Chinese food we have found and well worth the drive!

A year or two since I last attended in person. Obviously very busy with the result of incomplete order. The offer to put right was politely declined as I didn't want to wait any longer. In future I will order by phone. Where's Mandy with her usual cheeky banter?

We've used this takeaway a few times now and never been disappointed. The food is delicious! They have always delivered in good time and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Very busy on new years eve.. But worth the wait

Awful experience ordered a takeaway at 5.40 pm for delivery and told it would take two hours. At 9.15 arrived at the shop, as after 25 calls no one answered the phone, and was told that they hadn't started cooking the meal yet. The food may be good,but delivery and service is appalling. Appreciate they would be busy on New Years Eve hence the two hour wait time. When I arrived at the shop there were 5 people with the same complaint. Will not be using this place again.

Very long delivery wait (2 hours) however when I called the restaurant about halfway through they were apologetic about the wait and said the driver just left, I’m a 8 minute drive from the restaurant and ended waiting another 40 mins. The duck , chicken chow mein and chicken balls were delicious and good however some of it was luke warm .

Awful meal opened the lid and was hit with a serious smell of off very off meat .never have a meal from here again .sick is an understatement. Avoid

After always being told on ordering that collection rather than delivery would be half the time i did it again, big mistake when you turn up don't do what they ask and pay because you will be waiting outside for an hour, just cancel and i say this because i have now learned, shame because the food is good if you have time

We ordered food at 18:20, and were told a 40 minute wait. So when we arrived to collect the food at 19:00, we were still waiting 35 minutes later. This is totally unacceptable, as we were made to stand out in the cold, after walking too collect it. When complaining to the girl at the front desk, she couldn’t seem less bothered and just put it down to being a Friday. This is fair enough, but have the decency to let your customers know how long they will truly have to wait. Despite this, food was excellent as always.

Brilliant veggie and vegan options, had a meal with 2 vegans and 4 meat eaters and everyone extremely happy.

We love this Chinese as they cater really well in the vegan section. I think most of the vegans in Ipswich and further, all use this take away now. The food tastes really good, we treat ourselves every few months. The Vegetarian chicken balls and sweet and sour sauce are the kids faves! I usually get the Vegetarian kung po chicken, very good. Our friends tried this chinese on our recommendation, they eat meat and have now used this one since, so good for that as well I would say!

Ordered Chilli chicken but it came as a chicken in a honey curry. It was so sweet that you can't even eat and we had to throw it.

Trawling the reviews, trying to find reccomendations for local take-aways that have alternitives to meat dishes other than just vegetable, I came across "Good Taste"Very pleased with the meal, good size portions, good price, not too oiley and I didn't wake up in the night dying of thirst, that is the case after some take-aways.We have a vegetarian alternitive to chicken balls and the vegetarian alternitive to duck with ginger and spring onions. Very tasty :)

Well just ordered a chicken curry ....sauce was lovely but I dont know what the white plastic sqelchy stuff in it is as its certainly not chicken

Ordered a meal for delivery at around 5:30, given a time window of 6:30-7:00, and at 7:00 receive a message that my order has been cancelled. I would have been fine if it was cancelled earlier so I could have made alternative arrangements, but instead I am left hungry and raiding the fridge for something quick to cook.

Fantastic vegan chicken and duck options at a reasonable price. Owner's seem to value your custom and the few times it's been on the drag they've called to let me know. Their vegan options really make them stand out from the crowd.

My chicken balls were pink, my stomach is hurting really bad now asked for bbq sauce but we got given sweet and sour and I couldn’t eat half of my dinner because I didn’t have my bbq sauce so it was properly the worst Chinese I have ever had.

Placed a big order for family do, soChose a good range of dishes and everything we had was really delicious. Good sized portions and good value for money. Not the best. Had chicken curry and, sweet and sour chicken egg fried rice. Chicken was very hard and curry had a bland powdery taste to it. Thibk it was out of a packet mix with water type of curry sauce rather than using genuine curry powder and spices.

This is by far the best Chinese takeaway in Ipswich, I've been ordering from them for close to a year now and I am never disappoint!

Good value takeaway with a large and varied menu

Had sweet and sour King Prawn Balls and special fried rice. Plus prawn crackers. £11.20 and portion was large. Really delicious food. Will be going back for sure

Ordered meal for 7 of us. All of excellent quality and very plentiful. Ribs tasty. Sweet and sour chicken had, unlike many takeaways, large pieces of chicken. Service very good and friendly too. Easy parking outside. Will definitely use again.

My family often have this as a treat.It is very good for the prices offered and is in a great location for where I live. Staff are nice and friendly and the food is ready on time.

By far the best Chinese food I've found between South Suffolk and Ipswich, I've tried everywhere, driving out to all the villages and into Ipswich. I don't mind a road trip to get good food and good service, and they are very accommodating to specific requests, never had a problem and love the curry. Top marks for Chinese takeaway.

Had my first experience there tonight. Had a chat with them about dietary requirements and they so so helpful. The portion size was excellent, and the quality too. This is now my new local.
