Jade Garden in Ipswich

Just so bland, after Golden Express being closed, the only fairly decent rated Chinese was Jade Garden, parking was horrendous but cannot be helped, food was about 20 mins which is good, staff were pleasant but the food was just so bland, the satay was poor, kung po was poor, even the sweet and sour seemed flavourless. The salt & pepper chicken and noodles were just about seasoned enough but apart from that, very strange to have a Chinese known for strong flavours producing something so grey and so bland.

Very pleasant and professional staff. Everything is cooked fresh infront of you. There is no hiding in a dark kitchen through the back. The food is delicious. I would recommend this establishment to anyone. I will be back.

Food is not bad for the price but the staff are so rude, with so many dragons in the shop it seems the older lady that works there has become one herself. The young girl is polite and friendly but she is not always there. Hopefully studying hard so she can run as far away from the dragon and get a better life for herself.

The best Chinese takeaway in East Ipswich. They are fantastic in providing for allergy sufferers. We have gluten-free and dairy-free options and love the food every time. Portions are also generous.

Just had a takeaway as we didnt have cash available for our usual go to Chinese takeaway. Very disappointed. Didn't get what we ordered and what we did get was poor quality.

We sadly just had a Chinese from here. It was the worst Chinese we have ever had. Pork (pure fat) chow mein and a Beef Chowmein bath just covered in oil with no flavour at all. We had to put half a bottle of soy sauce on them. Crispy Beef. With no where near enough sauce to coat the meat. Half of the beef was chewy not crispy. Absolutely would never go here again

Food has always been good. However they really have put their prices up so won’t be using them again. I get the fact of things going up but don’t take the pee.

Updated review 2022. Still a very good takeaway, still one of the best in the area, but Covid has taken its toll. The £5 lunchtime meal (1 main dish + rice) is now £10, and it has to be paid in cash, cards not accepted below £10. I'll still be going, but I don't really want to spend £10 on a takeaway lunch. -------------------------------------------------- One of the best takeaways in the County. Good value, good portions, and a 5 hygiene rating from food standards agency. They dont deliver, but will take a telephone order. They now also take credit/debit cards for orders over £10. Menu includes some Thai dishes, but tbh the Cantonese dishes are superior. We go nowhere else, despite others being more convenient.

Wonderful sweet and sour chicken balls

I used to love this place but what's happened? Sweet & sour Hong Kong style was simply sweet. Almost tasteless and bready. The egg fried rice turned out to be boiled rice. Starters used to be great - now the ribs are dried out and prawn toasts overcooked and dry. The duck and prawn toasts were OK.

What has happened to this place? It was used to be excellent - our "go to" Chinese. Not any more. Starters used to be yummy - but turned out to be well below par : dried out ribs, overcooked prawn toast, giant spring roll slimy, the "seaweed" was fine. They needed a dip or some sauce from our sweet & sour (if only - see below). We felt like an old fashioned Sweet & Sour Hong Kong style. The breaded chicken was badly undercooked and made the sauce floury. The Sweet & Sour was just Sweet! Come on guys - this Chinese Takeaway 101. We ordered Egg Fried Rice - just boiled rice arrived. The Duck dish was just OK. The Shredded Pork Chow Mein was the best of the bunch. We left a lot & filled up on prawn crackers. They were fine.

Excellent food very friendly people

Am sorry to say this as have not had a problem in the past, but got food poisoning from the prawns which were in the rice. Had takeaway Christmas Eve and was very poorly between Xmas and New Year. Will be a long while before going back.

The lady serving was so miserable never greets you. And that's on all visits but thought this place is hit or miss on food il try again. I ordered special fried rice said no prawns or onions as allergic. She said you want King prawn rice. I said no alittle louder special fried rice No prawns or onions. She just said OK. Then I said Satay chicken no onions again.Not even a thank you when I paid. I got my order home and rice was tasteless and dry. Meat was tasteless n mostly chicken. Hardly any pork ect. The satay chicken had onions in it and looked disgusting. Plenty of it thou. I tried it. it was tasteless didn't taste like satay at all. Looked more like a curry sauce. I tried another bit ended up in Bin was awful. So disappointed and a waste of nearly £10 never will I go there again.

Honestly, it's still the best Chinese food in Ipswich - but we thought 'let's branch out & eat Thai'. A mistake. TheTom Yum soup, a Thai classic, was sweet - with bits of what looked like, tomato. Tomato?? Not hot or sour but sweet with a hint of chilli. The satay was beef in British gravy with peanuts. The Penang was actively unpleasant. , Very good quality meat as usual, but dunked in a terrible sauce. So, do go for the Chinese - it's 5* fabulous. Just step away from The Thai menu.

I might be able to try this place one day. If thay ever awnser there phone.

Big portions is a positive , spring rolls however were extremely salty and smelt and tasted very odd, probably won’t come back

Since ive moved back to Ipswich from Bury st Edmund and worked near the Ravenswood area, i thought ill try this takeaway as my usual chinese was closed that evening. I thought it was very clean inside and staff was polite. The food is not as good as my usual chinese but not bad. Will probably use them again in the future.

We've tried others but nothing compares to this. In COVID, it's usual excellent care standards come into their own. Super safe, super good and wheelchair accessible. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding (chicken balls of crazy size), duck that tastes of duck, beef that's tender. Really clear tastes, no generic 'Chinese sauces'. Since discovering this in 2019, we've been nowhere else. We never understand why there aren't queues down the street! Yum.

Sadly I don't live near here - but I was filming just down the road so grabbed a meal on the fly. Speedy service, cooked in front of you and the best crispy beef I've had from any take-away in decades. Fantastic place!

Our first visit. Super clean with alarge menu that covers Chinese and Thai. We stayed with Chinese. Rice noodles were stunning, the spicy, crispy lamb v North Chinese (a dry dish), king size, king prawns were fab. We'll be back. Not cheap but portions were v v generous. They have tofu dishes for vegans - next time.

Tried Jade Garden on Friday night & we had a good meal. The BBQ Ribs & Crispy Lamb were especially yummy. Will definitely be returning as they have an extensive menu to choice from!

Have had take away from Jade many times and been happy but this time I believe there is an opportunity to improve certain dishes. Sweet and sour balls we superb easy on batter and impossibly large pieces of chicken, we recommend this dish wholeheartedly.. though the chicken curry and satay chicken main dish was well below standard. The sauces lacked flavour but more worryingly the chicken texture made me feel queasy as it the chicken pieces wobbled on,the fork seemed to dissolve in mouth. I’ve had crispy chilli beef before, sweet and sour chicken and they are great. Avoid the other two mentioned and you’ll have a nice meal

I have a Chinese Takeaway just round the corner from my house but make the choice to go to Jade Garden instead, no complaints about the food, the people who work there are obviously a tight group who work well together. Open kitchen so you can see the food being made. No negatives from me

It's rare you find a Chinese takeaway open at lunch time these days so delighted to Jade Garden open whilst out. Pure chance that I passed and did not see any TA reviews. Well, I wished l lived near this place, I totally agree with all previous reviews, good fresh Chinese food. A nice open kitchen and reasonable. If you live near here then you are lucky, if you are passing and hungry then you you won't be disappointed. I just want to try more dishes....

The premises is very clean. The kitchen is open - you can see the chefs preparing your food. Food is tasty, very low cost and large portions.

THis is a really good Chinese take away - probably the best in Ipswich. THe food is all cooked to order in front of you, the kitchen looks clean and well ordered and the staff are friendly. Highly recommend it.

Me fui a esta Llevar hace un mes, la comida era buena, el lugar es limpio, he tenido buena comida pero poco tiempo después de comer tuve golfas dolor en el pecho y que duró hasta la mañana. Me imaginé que la comida debe tener el GMS. Esta noche me volví, no desean pizarra un negocio local y dar el beneficio de la duda. Pedí antes de pedir, no va a utilizar el GMS, el chef se acercaba al mostrador y dijo, háganmelo saber lo que quieres que lo hará sin GMS. He confiado en esto, comprar mi pedido de comida. He tenido Wicked dolores de pecho nuevo toda la noche del GMS, antiácidos no turno.

Have been here several times. The food is always of good quality, hot and good sized portions. They've never yet got the order wrong. Definitely worth a visit.

We fancied a Chinese meal the other night and thought, as this was close by, we would give it a try. Well, we were very impressed with the tastes and balance of flavours this rather spartan take-away provides. Will certainly be going back again soon to give it a second try and hopefully give a fuller review after sampling a few more dishes.

Always well cooked, quarter duck with pancakes always loads of duck yummy. Food was nice and hot when we got home and lots of it..

I recently tried a Thai Green curry from here and it was delicious. The service in the take away was very good and the food was ready in the time they said so there was no waiting around!Free prawn crackers on a small order which is also a plus.Highly recommend if you want to try something different instead of the same old Chinese take away.
