Gourmet Kitchen Chinese Take Away in St Albans

Absolutely rubbish and very rude once I placed an order I have been told I made a mistake okay? Second time third time no extremely rude service and the food is not good at all shall not be using never ever again.

I called and they said that i had bad service and hung up on me. I called them back once no answer I then called them again and they answered, very rude man wanted to argue with me bad customer service. silly.

This was our first order, the food was great and was ready for pickup in less than 10 minutes. Really exceeded our expectations, we will definitely be ordering again!

The best Chinese takeaway in St Albans. Very polite staff, good amount of seating area for collection.The food is fresh cooked and delicious! We never feel ill after eating here like with a usual takeaway, would recommend over and over! We understand why the phone is always busy haha

The food here is so great, I love it. Very friendly people, so polite. The service is all ways superb. The food is delicious. I have used many Chinese takeaway in the area and I'm happy to say I would recommend this one all day long.

Decent takeaway, online presence is teriable, menu online 3 years out of date and prices had gone up. To the owners Please just get a simple website with your menu on!!

We ordered on 14th April, bill came to around £24 for the two of us, the food was delicious and there was enough left over for me to enjoy again tonight. We have used gourmet kitchen before and will be using them often if the food remains this good and the prices stay competitive. As with everywhere prices are creeping up but still remain acceptable.

Always get our Chinese from here. Very reliable and often get everything just right. Highly recommend the spicy squid it is usually cooked perfectly, not rubbery at all, and the ribs are always amazing.

It's maybe a little pricy (Brexit inflation I expect) but the food was tasty. Thai curry had a good amount of chicken. The s&s pork balls are probably some of the best I've had though, definitely get those. Nice crispy seaweed too.

I don’t mind mistakes, I don’t like bad food. But don’t make a mistake and tell me it’s how you make the food. Chicken Orange with nothing but pineapple, allegedly it’s the base for the dish. I’d rather they either just said sorry, sent the right dish or gave me a refund, instead they just laughed at me and lied. Are we not better than that? I mean your customers 💁🏼‍♂️

Over an hour to get through on the phone. 10 mins later food arrives. Apparently duck orange uses a pineapple base. This isn’t a base there is more pineapple than duck and if there is orange in this it’s by accident not design. I don’t like it and I won’t be back again. Be interested to hear if the chilli squid is made with a pork base! Whilst I won’t get my money back I’m annoyed enough to not eat the food and write this review instead.

Waited over an hour and a half for my food I was told it be 40 minutes when I rang the restaurant to ask where my food was they kindly said they’ve lost my order and forgot to call me, they said they will cook it and it will be with me in the next 20 minutes I wasn’t offered any apologies wasn’t offered any discount the lady on the phone said quite rudely do you want it or not want it!?!? I found them very rude since the new people have taken over the place has gone downhill

This has to be one of the best Chinese takeaway’s I have tried . The food is so flavourful and delicious! My order only took about 10 minutes to arrive and that’s was great because I had quite a big order for my family and I could pick it up so quickly . The menu has a wide range of authentic Chinese food ! In my opinion the Singapore noodles , salt and pepper chicken, egg fried rice and the sweetcorn and chicken soup have to be my favourite. I really recommend this Chinese for dinner because it makes the family happy and I guarantee it will make you happy to !!

Decent takeaway - we will be back!

At last we’ve found a good Chinese delivery in St Albans. Everything about our meal on Saturday was excellent. The duck was succulent with plenty of pancakes and other ingredients. The prawn toast and salt pepper squid starters were really good and all delivered in good time. We’re so happy and pleased to have found Gourmet Kitchen, we will definitely be using them regularly.

Since the closure of Po Che in Marshalswick, there’s been quite big vacuum in the Chinese take-away St Albans, but since, someone recommended Gourmet Kitchen!! and I must say 10/10 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟, wife and kids loved, I’m defiantly going to use again, friendly service and quick delivery .. would recommend.

The food from here is very good and reasonably priced, but don't bother ordering for delivery. They often take up to an hour and a half to deliver not very far. It's also a hassle to speak to them on the phone - just today I told them my address and they shouted back "WHAT IS THE ADDRESS?" before hanging up. Bit rude. Just go collect if you can.

It's the only decent Chinese place around. Best tasting food.

Food good as always but as with all Chinese restaurants it's a big risk trying new things sticky chilli beef was far too sweet the rest of the food was amazing though as per usual

We visit at least once a month. Its our favourite takeaway. Its always busy when we order on a saturday evening. Its a bit tricky to park nearby but you can usually park over the road.

I order from you Chinese often and there always one issue whether it be you put onion in something I ask not too or drinks don’t arrive , but tonight is the last straw I rang back after order £40 delivery to add £7.90 worth of items for you too tell me you card machine is £10 min I offered to pay the charge but still no , not happy and don’t tell me you machine can only make £10 sales that’s your choice

I have ordered for 15 years. Now the service the worse I get from the young man who has no customer service skills. I will never ever order food from this place. They dent know I speak Chinese. I have to call my order after what they were talking. Good advice keep away.

Had my first takeaway from here, was outstanding, the food arrived very hot, the standard of the food was excellent, non greasy,the flavours and spices really stood out. The price was about right tbh I can't complain about anything.

Superb dinner for three dilivered smack on time £30 I mean what a lovely experience!

I am sadly writing this in the hope that they may read and take some feedback as they don’t seam willing or bothered to listen to their long standing customers! I have used them for years, originally they had second takeaway Beijing. Sometimes I have tried for between 30-60minutes to get through to place order, even using call back! They have no online means of ordering. Last Monday, I tried and couldn’t get through only to find out they were closed on Mondays. I suggested a message to that affect would be useful. Basically told to read the menu leaflet! Just not willing to listen to customers, if there was somewhere local with as good as food that deliver they would have lost my customer. Please listen to your customers who are trying to help you!

One of the best Chinese foods I’ve ever had. Delicious and quick! However, we can’t pay by card on smaller orders, otherwise would be a five star.

Me and my partner ordered at 7.15pm to be told 45mins delivery, we then called back at 8.02pm to be told the driver was on his way, it's now 9.05pm and we still have not received our food, we have now ordered from a different Chinese.. fingers crossed this one turns up !

Last minute bank holiday girls night in. Food arrived on time and hot . We got dry fried beef noodles and appetizers. This is the first time I have ordered from here and it was pretty good. Have been looking for ages for dry beef to fan. Would order from here again .

I have never used the delivery so no comment about their service. I just love their fried noodle. Especially Black Bean Beef Ho Fan(Flat noodle). It tastes like the one I used to buy at a local eatery while living and working in Hong Kong. Very authentic and tasty.

We have tried this at various times throughout the years and were always disappointed. However our normal Chinese was closed for weeks and really needed a Chinese takeaway and so gave them another try! No high expectations, due to the past experiences. Wow, all I can say what a difference. It is great and for the past month has become our regular and if they continue with their current high standards of tasty food we will continue to use them.

I have to agree with the 2 previous reviews dated 15/2 /18 and 2/1/18 this place has really gone down hill . We have been using their delivery service for over 10 years but they must have changed hands .

I have been using this takeaway for a long time and with no problem until today. I ordered food and was told that it would be here within the hour. An hour and 20 minutes went by and I called to ask how long it would be, the man on the phone informed me that it would be another 30 minutes as the driver hadn’t even left to drop it off yet. I explained that would be nearly 2 hours I have been waiting for food! I got no apology and was asked ‘do I still want the order or shall I just cancel it?’

Good solid Chinese takeaway we've used for years. Not exactly a gourmet experience but hot food served fast and delivered quickly.

Gourmet kitchen has and will always be our go to takeaway, it’s probably the fastest takeaway I’ve ever known and is always of the best quality. I genuinely can’t pick out a fault I just love all their food so so much!

My mum placed an order and it was delivered wrong. We have been using this chinese on and off for years but I can tell the management has changed. Rang back to complain and the guy was really rude. Reckoned he had doubled checked it. Gods knows what dish I got it was dreadful. And she ordered beef and it was pork. Won’t be using them again!!! What a waste of £20 odd pound.

I had a Beef Satay - Best one I have had in years - fresh root ginger used. Portions large prices very reasonable. This meal was better than anything I have had in China Town (London).

On a small parade of shops near where I work, some colleagues and I use this place at lunch times.

Great food and reasonable prices. No web site and no lunch menu are a shame. Sort out your online menu and keep the great food.

Just had an eleven minute argument with women who took my order, I ordered several items and payed over thirty pounds.

We have used this take away regularly for years . The prawn balls are still my favourite on the menu. Reliable.

It's lovely, delivery is always on time ribs are great as is the crispy beef, very good choice in menu , always get one dish too many so can have it the next day

I use them regularly. Easy to order by phone, or at the takeaway wher you can eat at a few tables. Food is always good with big portions. Veggie dishes are great (says my wife :0)

Popped in for a lunch takeaway food was excellent I cannot compare it to others in the area but for someone who has Chinese 3 plus times a week it is one of the best...... Enjoy

Ask for food to be delivered at 20.15 so as we could get our young son to sleep. But some unknown reason they delivered at 19.45 waking the infant up and spoiling the evening. On another occasion B I ordered food from them and they got the order all wrong or gave me the wrong order. My advice double check everything with them so you meal isn't spoilt.
