Hong Kong Inn in St Albans

Honestly one of the worst food and services possible. It costs as if it's central London but tastes as if it's far north of England. And portion sizes are tiny for the price. Can't recommend this place to anyone unfortunately.

Ordered our food for delivery 1.5 hours ago, can’t even get through on the phone, just rings through. The restaurant just cancelled it without saying anything… at 9:45.. on a Friday. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Food was disgusting. Full of oil, tasteless, bland, just awful. Went in the bin.

I've only ever had takeaways. It's by far the best in St Albans. It's cheaper to order directly from their website, considerably so. I always have a tapas of starters, all freshly cooked and good quality meat. The noodles are also excellent. I can always tell the freshness and use of good ingredients by what it looks like the next day! And obviously the taste. I may have been known to have it for breakfast too. 😋

It's just a pick up place. But it's never open when you need it. Now, it appears to be close during lunch....

Sweet and Sour sauce had a weird taste to it, too tangy and like vinegar had been added, not tasted anything like it before. For the prices (£35) I was very disappointed

Ordered from here numerous times and the food was always very, very good! Great taste and good portions for good prices. We were always ordering the Capital Ribs and Egg Fried Rice, or Duck fried rice, and it was always a pleasure to eat food from here. A dear routine. Staff is also very nice and welcoming, taking great care of regular customers and having a friendly attitude. Thank you Hong Kong Inn for the delicious food always!

Gave me food poisoning, bought the ribs and immediately started throwing up. I should’ve been suspicious when they quoted a 5 min wait time.

With lovely food and friendly staff, I like to return for my favorite roasted duck with noodles.

Sweet and sour sauce very tangy and vinegary, noodles had thick film grease all over them and chicken balls dripping with fat, not impressed for the money

I do like their food its lovely my favorite dish is the chicken satay in satay sauce the main course. The only thing I would say is when they don't pick up the phone when they're supposed to be open means they are probably closed for some reason. Last time they didn't t pick up I drove there and they were closed for a week on holiday. Answer machine would have been nice letting people know. The other thing is they still have strict covid procedures pay outside wait outside. Other wise nice food.

I’ve had a lot of deliveries via Just Eat from here and the food has always been really good. I highly recommend it.

Decent Chinese takeaway in St Albans (finally!).

Our food took 2 hours to prepare and be delivered, in that time know one answered the phone to ask about our food .. when it did get here it was obviously totally cold.. We heated it in the micro .. It tasted just weird, like a tang on the chicken ... we thought maybe it was the source at the time .. with in 12 hours the whole family was sick and i mean queuing up at both toilets !!.. Never never use this PLACE .. the last thing we need at the moment is to feel ill like that .. Horrible !!

Had our first takeaway from the Hong Kong Inn and we were not disappointed! The staff were really lovely when I called as I had a question about the menu, and their recommendations were delicious. All the food was really good, delivery was quick and easy, and really good value for money. Will definitely be ordering again!

Overpriced, and the chicken chow mein could’ve deceived you for plain chow mein. Crispy chilli beef was also the worst, I was so disappointed

I often take my friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I visit this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The the cooking is yummy and the stuff is welcoming and cooperative. always when we visit this place we enjoy a gorgeous evening. highly recommended.

This place is worth visiting. They have big portions for affordable prices. Regularly neat and with great character. Will visit here again.

Had the king prawn fried noodles (chow mein) and special fried rice. Also pork dumplings and large spring rolls. Everything was really good. Enjoyed a lot and will be ordering again

I write this review as I realise how much I am missing my favourite take away at this time. They have been closed since March and I couldn’t risk getting Chinese food from anywhere else at the risk of it being inferior! Anyway, Purple, we miss you and can’t wait for you to open Hong Kong Inn again. See you soon. X

Can’t go wrong with Hong Kong Inn. Lovely people and always get some free prawn crackers with our order. The battered chicken balls and chow mein are the best!

Absolutely terrible! Tasted like it was kept for a week after being cooked and reheated. Disgusting not coming back here waste of money.

Having waited over an hour for our food, we phoned and were told it had left ages ago. We questioned its condition after being driven round St Albans for an hour!It arrived after 1hour and 20 mins. It was tepid, tasteless and the prawn toast was greasy and soggy. We were disappointed at the waste of money and food! More of it went into the bin than was eaten. We won't be going here again.

I Return to this Chinese quite often... Always great service whether i visit the shop or get a delivery. Satay chicken skewers are the best ive had. Love the curry sauce. Always give me free prawn crackers.

The WORST takeaway i have ever had. Absolutely vile and straight in the bin. Will 100% be sticking with China House on High Oaks. Feeling incredibly ill after todays “meal” really was not good nor looked it! Waste of money

Absolutely disgusting! Ordered chicken curry that tasted and smelt like dog food. Rice which looked like it was from last week. Total waste of money threw it away after one bite!

If I wanted to eat fat I could go and buy a tub of lard at the supermarket for a much lower price. Total waste of money we could have wrung the prawn toast out, everything was highly fatty and we could not eat it. Threw it away and will never go here again

I've lived in HK and this is the best Cantonese food in St Albans. The carbon-wok taste is authentic and the food is always piping hot. From the time we order our food on the telephone to the time our food is ready for pick up, it is approx 10 minutes. Fridays are the busiest and the most we ever had to wait is 12 mins. There is only one delivery driver so picking up food might be faster than waiting for delivery. We highly recommended the fried rice, noodle, and deep fried squid. For working parents, this place is a lifesaver. You can opt out of MSG if feeding children! Fast, Economic, Healthy and Tasty!

Ordered crispy duck and pancakes and the Duck was really dried up and still on the bone and crispy chilli beef was also dried up like they had been reheated. Chow mien was greasy and satay chicken undercooked. Most of it went in the bin unfortunately. Kids liked the free fortune cookies ! Poor value for money overall.

Ordered a pork fried rice along with 2x beef chow meins to cover myself and a friend. I have to say, it was probably the best order of each I've had to date. Highly recommend and will be returning when revisiting St. Albans.

I've been ordering food from this Chinese take away on a weekly basis during the last 6 months and I always been very satisfied with the quality and quantity of dishes provided...especially for the price! My chidren loves the fried rice and noodles which is also a great time safer for busy parents. The lady at the front is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended in St Albans.

Vile! I ordered crispy duck pancakes - The duck was still on the bone, not shredded, was cremated and looked and tasted like it had been through the deep fat fryer several times over. The only reason I have given 2 stars instead of 1 is because I am just grateful that the food didn't make me ill. I wont be ordering from here again.

Horroroso! Pedí tortitas crujientes de pato el pato seguía en el hueso, no triturados, fue incinerado y aspecto y sabor como si hubiese sido a través de la grasa profunda fryer varias veces más. La única razón por la que le he dado 2 estrellas en vez de 1 es porque estoy agradecido que la comida no me enfermo. Me voy a pedir desde aquí.

We moved to St Albans just over a year ago and it's always difficult to find your go-to takeout. Hong Kong Inn is reliable (normally 40mins for delivery), food always tastes great and is piping hot on arrival. Really good prices too - recommend!

Ordered food and waited almost 2 hours for delivery. After 1.20 hours was asked if I could pick the order up????? Hungry House gives inaccurate delivery times. Food average at best, will never place another order.

I don't normally eat take outs but was tired so popped into this chinese and got them to recomend meals on what I fancied. The lady did a great job and my husband and I have a brilliant meal. Still nice and hot when I got it home and delicious. Will go back!

Don't know how this place can go so downhill in just a few months. Took one hour & ten minutes to deliver. 75% of our Saturday night meal was vile. Rice & noodles were 'okay-ish' but Crispy beef was just all fat..threw it away. Sweet n sour chicken was artificially coloured bright orange & tasted very acidic. The ribs were all bone..no meat. Doesn't even deserve the one ★ that i had to give to enable me to post my review. Most definitely will NOT be ordering from here again.

Wide choice of food on the menu, with good prices. Delivery is quick and free if you spend over £15. Always get my takeaway from here, overall excellent service.
