If you are looking for an authentic, fresh and taste filled Hong Kong-style food experience; go here. From the moment you walk in you know everything is fresh just from the aroma of spices that float around the restaurant. Every meal is cooked to order and with the visual menu that has your mouth watering before you sit down you know it's going to be great. The soup of beef brisket alone is phenominal and the mains are incredible. I've tried a few dishes this time and can't fault a single one. The stir-fried clams with black bean sauce was perfectly done with the lovely umami taste from the fresh clams. The sizzling chicken pot was theatrical yet tasty. And the iced lemon tea and Hong Kong style milk tea are not be missed. Perfect for a family meal, date or just a spot of lunch. Don't think I could eat at another Chinese/ Hong Kong style restaurant in UK and I'm not bothered at all. Truly a hidden gem, run by a passionate Hongkonger that want you to enjoy what they have to offer in culinary delights.

I really enjoy their Dan dan noodles, I could not find them on the menu that was initially brought but when I asked about them, the waitress gave me another menu with more complex dishes that I had never seen before elsewhere. I was really thrilled to try their food as it is not easy to find a Szechuanese restaurant, and I will go back to try more dishes! I gave 4 stars as I had to seat in an awkward position while eating due to the grill set up under the table that did not leave any space for sitting with the legs under the table.

“Yam Sing”? More Like “Yam Sigh” The name Yam Sing is meant to evoke cheers and celebration—but my experience felt more like a bad sitcom than a toast to victory. I ordered via their app, paid, and got a confirmation. Everything seemed fine until I arrived at the restaurant, only to be greeted by a staff member who acted like I’d just crashed their family reunion. Apparently, my order was “cancelled”—news to me, considering I had proof of the order right on my phone. What followed was a masterclass in customer service gone wrong. The staff member’s tone was as sharp as a wok spatula, and their “apology” had all the sincerity of a fortune cookie cliché. Despite my efforts to explain, the hostility continued. If Yam Sing means “Cheers,” then they need to check their own recipe, because this experience was anything but celebratory. If you want to be treated rudely, visit the Yam Sing—it seems to be their specialty.

We usually enjoy our takeaways from here, tonight it was even more tasty than usual on the spice front, thumbs up there, but... I had the chilli salt ribs and thought I might break a tooth on them. Heavily over cooked, dry, hard, just nasty. Seemed like they were left over from 2 days ago, so I won't be ordering those again, or recommending them ever, a shame as I've had good ones before, so it spoilt a valentines takeout tonight. We don't eat out yet, so hoped we would get our usual good meal, so very very disappointed.
