Fantastic Chinese take away. We ordered for the whole family and it was all really good quality and super tasty. We ordered at 7:05pm on a Saturday night and it was ready for collection by 7:30. Really reasonably priced too!

Lovely Chinese take away. Always friendly staff and tasty food Particularly enjoyed the chow mein and satay main dishes.

Poor quality food, lukewarm and tasteless, had to return due to incorrect order who were then reluctant to amend order, please avoid and go to either Mountsorrel or Loughborough

I don’t like giving a poor review but on this occasion this establishment deserves it. Probably the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Sweet and sour chicken balls were awful. The sauce was poor and whilst the chicken balls were plentiful they were obviously processed and had never seen a wok. Couldn’t eat the food. Sorry Quorn but your Chinese takeaway is poor.

Had a nice chinese meal here, nothing special but it was standard UK chinese take away food. It was prompt service and note its a cash only take away, though there is a cash machine just 20 yards away

7 months ago I wrote on review how vile our food was..had to give a star..now being 1st Sept 22..absolutly disgusting tasteless so called sweet n sour..the owner needs to be ashamed..the chef ought to give up!! I know what my food should taste and look like..VILE! close this place and open with new owners and new chefs! Never comming back!!

This is a takeaway only place that does not accept cards. Get that right beforehand and it seems a lot of the less good reviews go away. I can't understand people that get shirty about this kind of thing - if in doubt, ask when you order! This is a no frills, reasonably priced, standard takeaway. It does everything you'd expect and does it very well. The food is always plentiful, tasty, hot and reasonably priced. If more places just stuck to what they are good at (like Quorn Cottage does), then the world would be a (slightly) better place. I have never had a bad meal from this place.

Haven't been to this take away since 2016 mainly because they don't deliver. Collected one last night, was very hot, beautifully clean food with generous portions. Not overloaded with carrots and onions. I loved the fact it wasn't full of salt or MSGs which is what a lot of people consider to be flavour. I love the fresh healthy taste so will definitely be making an effort to collect from now on instead of having mediocre food delivered. X

Never coming here again. Thought I'd grab a Chinese after a few drinks. Hot & Sour soup with sweet and sour sauce, well that's a first. Salt & Chilli Ribs deep-fried with batter and no meat on at all. Save yourself and go Oriental Chef in Mountsorrel.

When you find a takeaway that is as good as this you keep returning . Usual variety of dishes with some more unusual too, quality is great and portion size is good. They dont take card payment but there is a cash point nearby.

Great food, reasonably priced. They produced a large order - 14 main dishes - in about 40 mins on a Saturday evening.

I arrived and asked for things off menu for our son who is a very fussy eater. This was met with suggestions and the food was cooked brilliantly and our son exclaimed it was his favourite food ever! The rest of the food we ordered was delicious and generous quantities of meat to sauce ratios. Thank you so much for looking after my son’s special needs!

Just had my food from here it was ok not very hot at all so I wont say we won't have it for a while it was very disappointing to have

A Big Thankyou to Quorn Cottage. I arrived last night after a 13,hr shift, tired out and looking forward to a Chinese meal to find it had closed- However the gentleman inside must have seen my face of dismay and opened up for me. It was delicious xxxx Again Thankyou so much xxxx

Gave this Chinese takeaway a try but it was terrible. Placed the order over the phone and then went to pick up at the given time, only to be told they only accept cash... I only had my phone on me to pay by Apple Pay and I thought being the 21st century, card payments would be accepted... alas... no... So I had to drive back home to get my wallet to drive back to Quorn, to go to the cash point and get some cash out. After all this commotion and bother I was praying that the food was going to be worth while but sadly it was far from it. We had a sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, beef Szechuan style, egg fried rice, prawn toast and “crispy” seaweed. There was no crispness to any of the chicken or beef or the seaweed for that matter and the beef Szechuan sauce had a horrible metallic taste to it. The chicken itself had an almost slimy taste to it when you bit into the sweet and sour dish. The sweet and sour sauce had big lumps of tomato in it which we did not expect and the sauce just didn’t taste particular sweet. I’m sad to say that both plates went in the bin and the only thing I ate was the prawn toast and a bit of rice... should have looked at the other reviews beforehand and we would have chosen another takeaway...

Used to use this place a lot but last time we had a meal from there it nearly put me off Chinese food for life. The chicken was vile and the rice was awful.

We’re very glad our favourite Chinese takeaway has opened again! Ordered over the phone, detailed instructions on how to collect with social distancing in mind, and we could collect in 10 mins on a Saturday night. Only allowing 2 people inside at once but there was no one there when I got there and although it’s cash only I just made sure I had the right money so didn’t have to worry about any change. We will definitely be ordering again soon!

First time I've used this takeaway. Strangest salt and pepper chilli chicken I've ever had. It's supposed to be a dry dish. Received watery rubbery chicken covered in Chinese 5 spice, loaded with chunks of peppers. Very bland. The "special rice" was 5 pieces of king prawn and meat. on a huge toploaded bed of rice and nothing else. Won't be using again

We recently had a takeaway from Quorn Cottage Chinese Takeaway. The food was very disappointing with all food having an extremely bland taste. Quite the worst experience for a very long time. Whilst not too inconvenient, when we got the order home it was also incorrect.

Very ignorant and rude man taking the orders no wonder the place was empty on a saturday evening..free prawn crackers if you spend over £30 what a Joke the food isn't a patch on the oriental chef mountsorrel I certainly will not be using this takeaway again!

Food was good and they were quite busy as we sat and waited for our order after just walking in.

The reviews weren’t great on t/a but I was overruled by the outlaws majority. Just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read. We were pleasantly surprised. Chicken Satay was delicious,very peanutty (is that a word?)& the ingredients appeared fresh. Egg fried rice was great-neither sticky not oily. KunPo Chicken equally good. Lots of free prawn crackers sealed the deal. Very quick for a large walk in order too. We would be happy to eat from here again.

Been visiting here with big orders for me and my work mates for years and it is always spot on. I haven't found any other Chinese Takeaway that compares ... In that time either... Consistently good, piping hot and great value...

We have continued to use Quorn Cottage over the year and still have it as our favourite Chinese take away in the area. The staff are really polite and helpful and the food is always ready in good time with little waiting. Still cash only but with two cash machines within 100 yards of the place, you don’t have an excuse.

A good Chinese takeaway and I think the only bug bear I have is the lack of card payments - only except cash. Food is delicious and never feel awful after eating it - unlike some Chinese food restaurants I’ve eaten at.

We decided to have a take away after a few beers before a World Cup match. This was only up the road so decided to order a take away. The sweet and sour chicken balls were tasteless and the sauce was like wall paper paste. The spare ribs came in a weird batter which disguised a complete lack of meat just fat. The chicken in the main dish was tasteless and dry. I will never go there again

This remains the best Chinese takeaway amongst the local villages, an accolade it has held, in my opinion, for several years. Spot on!

We have used Quorn Cottage a couple of times now over the last month and found the meals to be dependable Chinese food, delivered full of flavour as expected. Mostly gets it wrong. Always blames the customer afterwards. And the food is not worth the trip. You would be better if at the other 2 take always in Mountsorrel.

Over the last few months we have had trouble finding a decent Chinese takeaway and have been left disappointed by many we have used for years or tried in vain hope of having a nice takeaway. Finally.... it seems Quorn Cottage is our saviour. Good extensive menu of old favourites and chef specialities. Slightly more expensive than some in the town centre but the quality of the food is so much better. Everything beautifully cooked... not overly oily or artificial tasting. The meat is very well prepared and cooked... no slimy beef or chicken that doesn't even taste like chicken! They don't deliver but there is a car park over the road or on-street parking down most of the road. Thank you Quorn Cottage for restoring our faith in the humble Chinese Takeaway.

I used to always love this place...i had singapore fried noodles twice now and they were awful...full of curry powder. and the ribs were dry as an old shoe. Pleaseeee change back to how it was

Consistently good but must be the only takeaway I know that doesn't deliver! Why? It's good food and good value and never disappoints

We have been going here on and off for a few year. We probably go there about 4 times a year. The food is good. The sweet and sour chicken balls are very good.

Place could do with a refurb ....the food is average .never got what I ordered and some food was missing ...it was a Friday night and very busy

This was our first visit, but certainly not our last. The menu is varied, with a lot of attention paid to non meat eating customers. It would be nice to have a couple more vegetarian options on the entree list that gh. The tofu dishes...

After a break for a couple of years, we have returned a couple of times this month to the Quorn Cottage. We have found the food to be very good and tasty. It doesn't seem a "gluggy" or full of MSG like other take away places we have tried previously. Would certainly recommend trying but be aware it's a cash only place

The mini-veggie egg rolls are delish - and the chicken chop suey is 'spot-on' every time! A great spot for take-out in the heart of Quorn.

We decided to have a takeaway after a long, hard day at work and opted for Quorn Cottage as it's just up the road. What a mistake! We ordered Sesame prawn toast, Kung Po Prawns, Singapore Noodles and my partner had a chicken curry. The prawns were in a tasteless sauce and were lukewarm. The noodles were stodgy and tasted like somebody had poured a pot of chilli powder over to give them some flavour, no fresh tasting ingredients or spices. The toast tasted like overdone fried bread and was very greasy. My partner advised the curry was again lacking in flavour. And we paid £19 for the privilege! Oh and they don't accept credit or debit cards. We won't be ordering from here again.

I have eaten here on and off for a number of years. The food is always very tasty and well cooked. The vegetable fried rice contains many different veggies and is lovely! I will continue to eat here when I get the chance

We have been going here for years and have tried most of the menu. The food is always very good and tasty and whilst it may not be the very best, it is in our opinion the best Chinese around here. They are always very friendly and accommodating if you want to change something on the menu as we do often.

All I can say is that the salt and chilli ribs, no batter, are really really good, plentiful and tasty, it is my standard order now. A little on the pricy side though.

Average takeaway food - it's great if you're starving but some of the food can be just a bit tasteless at times. They do however do brilliant chilli salt chips!

We decided to have a Chinese instead of Sunday lunch so very disappointed when my chosen meal prawn curry arrived with no prawns. I rang to complain, they replied we haven't charged you for the prawns.This has happened twice with an ingredient missing.Not the best tasting meals at all, and never very hot.

As we were in the village, decided to get a takeaway here to test the quality. It was a Friday evening and busy with phone calls & people coming in to collect food so we were encouraged by this.It's quite a large menu - we ordered our food which didn't take long to produce. As has been pointed out, the takeaway don't take credit or debit cards which is a bit odd.The food we had wasn't horrible but it was pretty bland & not anything like the standard of our usual Chinese takeaway. It's hard to be bland with chicken in black bean sauce but it was very bland.I have to say we were disappointed - we will try the food again & sample some different dishes as we are aware that places can have off days etc.

Food had an odd taste and after 2 days of vomiting I suspect it may be the cause. I will not be returning.

We live in Quorn and have used this takeaway a lot over the years and have found the food to be consistently good. Food is ready pretty quickly unless it is a very busy time. My only gripe would be that for some reason they don't accept debit or credit cards which in this day and age is inconvenient.

We had a get together with a group of friends and fancied a takeaway and Chinese was the chosen option. There was a few of us so the meal came came to £74. Service was ok nothing more than that. The food was terrible, most was barely ok. We had a Chinese chicken curry, very weird dish, a small chicken breast in a curry paste, not that appetising! We had salt n chilli chips, we normally love these in places that do them. These were truly shocking! Normal chips that were dry and covered in five star spices! Not what they should be at all!!The worst was a chef special believe it or not. Fillet beef in black pepper sauce Cantonese style. To say this looked the least appetising Chinese dish I have ever seen is an understatement! It looked like it had either been slow cooked, warmed up a dozen times or simply left to overlook! It was dark black, dry and simply looked disgusting! Taste was barely better, hardly any! Hardy any beef and all peppers and onions. For saying this dish alone was £8.80 defies belief!! Never felt so over charged in my life! The next day I've had stomach cramps and an upset stomach, how weird eh? Dodgy food to blame from this establishment!! Needs reporting to Charnwood council!Cannot recommend strongly enough not to spend too much money in this place, simply avoid it!!

I have eaten at many Cantonese and Chinese restaurants and takeaways. This takeaway is just about average. I have eaten here three times now and each time the food could have been better. Service is fast and friendly and the price is normal. The food has strange after taste and slightly burnt flavour. I will be trying out a different takeaway in the next village for our family Chinese takeaway night next time. Thank you.

Popped in a couple of weeks back, decided on having their Singapore Fried Rice, it was cooked very quick, less than 3 minutes, got it home, rice was pink! taste was very bland, not spicy at all, and very dry. Won't be eating from there again.

Having fancied a snack I called in for spare ribs and chips for an easy option. Service fine £7.50 a bit pricey but its Quorn. Getting home I open up carton and what a joke!!! Bits of ribs in a coating clearly deep fried and disgusting. Chips bone dry to add. How hard is it to do basic food ? Food outlets like this need closing down.

I beg to differ from the other 2 reviews posted to date, we use this takeaway regularly and have found it reliability good tasty food. Fast service, can be 10-15 minutes if they're not too busy.

Probably the worst Chinese of I've had in the last 20 years. No flavour, all the sauces tastes alike. Fried rice was disappointing. Take away only. Was quickly prepared and hot.

We have been using the Quorn Cottage for a number of years now as we always found the food to be very good. We have kept a menu all this time and always call ahead to order our favourites. Our order was taken well, correctly and politely and was ready at the appointed time. Unfortunately when we got home and started to eat we found the flavours and presentation of the food completely different to how it used to be. The lemon chicken was almost inedible as the lemon sauce was so sharp and sour, the presentation of the special fried rice not pleasant at all with great big slices of duck etc in it. Overall our most recent meal wasn't at all up to expectations. We really hope it was a 'one-off'.
